Fear of nightclubs (13)

I've only been to a few nightclubs, but each time I go I get really paranoid or frightened. I don't like loud noises and I'm uncomfortable in large crowds. I feel like a loser because everyone around me seems to be enjoying themselves but I can't. I get really tense and I have trouble going with the 'flow.' I wonder if this is a normal thing and you eventually get used to the nightclub scene or is it just my introverted personality?

try going there with someone you trust, or someone who will make you feel secure. thus you can be in some "protective social layer" , and soon maybe you will merge with the crowd.

nightclubs aren't for everyone. i don't really like it, i only go when i have to, like friends birthdays or such.

a person doesn't have to be confortable in every fucking situation. but >>3 is right, drinking helps.

Don't go to nightclubs.

nightclubs are really only fun for a certain few types of people, but for me they are just annoyingly loud, and have over priced bad drinks. You aren't really missing anything.

Counter-question: what is a good place to go to assuming that you do like music but not stupidly loud music? Jazz clubs? (I have never searched for them around here, presumably they exist...)

Indeed. I'm pretty anti-social, but a couple drinks and I'm okay in situations like shows and clubs. You don't have to get completely trashed, just enough to be buzzed. You have to remember, nearly everybody else is drunk too.

Well, it happens the same to me. I don´t really have a good time when going to discos because they represent everything I dislike: loud noise, crowds, etc. So I guess I just need to avoid that situations that make me feel uncomfortable, and enjoy the activities I like. Society puts pressure on each of us to act all in the same way, but it´s up to us to stop that and take our own choices. Greetings

I was refraining from saying what >>9 said but I totally agree.

Why go to something you dislike?

Exactly. Stay home and read a book, or wank. Or both!
