How do I meet people? (13)

I'm a recluse for the most part but I'm getting sick of it. I want to be normal. I want to go out, I want to meet people, I want companionship. But how do I go about getting that? I'm normal. I work, make money, blah blah but I have no friends or anybody else. People say join clubs but I'm too old for that rubbish. Am I destined to be alone?

No clubs? Alright. Meetup.com, Alumni Associations, going to community events. Take your pick.

I don't think anyone is destined for anything. Life is what you make if it. You say you work, so there should be some work acquaintances you might have. One of these days, ask anyone of your work friends to go chill. See a movie, go bowling, get drunk. Those are just some examples. =D

If you have been a recluse for a very long time, then people will know it though your mannerisms and behavior. Start out with going out more, and going to places like the gym, or restaurants to get used to people's presence. After you begin to feel comfortable with being around others, start conversations with people who seem like they will listen to you. Those can be people with the same kind of hobbies and interests. As you gradually get more comfortable in those kind of situations, people with instinctively want to hang out with you from that experience. and use that as a starting point for friends to hang out with.

Now, when dealing with people, there will be several painful situations. Many people won't be willing to understand your living situation, and won't give you the time of day. And there are others still who will be incredibly judgmental and overly critical. This is a part of society where you have to have a strong mentality in order to succeed. Learning how to ignore people's bias is the best way to open yourself up socially.

do team sports, you'll get friends real quick, plus you get fit!

go to church, you can meet new people that way, I did. plus you get fit spiritually (result may vary).

but easiest is hang out with colleagues after work, get some beer, go to pub or something

>>I'm normal. I work, make money, blah blah but I have no friends or anybody else.

contradiction here, if you have no friend at all, you're probably not normal (in my view). can you think of the reasons of why you dont have friends??

Having sex in church is one of my fantasies, and I suppose those pious girls will be tight as... hell, but I don't think they'd be willing to do that.

well, truth be told, you can convince anyone to do anything for you sexually if you do your research. Plus, its not like most of the women in church are that pious anyway.
