Who am I? (5)

I recently moved to a different country last summer. Since then I seem to be different. And I don't know why. I mean I still practice the things that I did in my home contry but everything about me seems different and why is that?

I've lived in the same country all my life and I still don't know who I am or why I act like I do

First off, how old are you?

Is this a riddle?

Now, seriously, how old are you? For how long have you been living at this new country? have you ever heard about the term "cultural shock"?

A cultural shock is what usually happens to people who goes to live to a different place and as far as I remember it is divided in 4 (5) stages:

  1. Honey moon, when the person feels charmed by the new culture
  2. Shock, when they are confused about the differences between the places
  3. Assimilation, when they start to cope with it
  4. Adaptation, when they manage to live at this new place

(5) Re-shock, when they go back to their former place of origin and are confused again.

Some people do not go through all the stages, some might just stay at honeymoon and stay there forever and others might go straight into shock and stay there.

I've heard that people in our (I'm in your situation as well) situation might adapt but they develop a "double" identity as they cannot manage to forget about their former modus vivendi.

I'm just curious, where are you from and where are you now?

I hope this has helped you.
