situation I'm not proud of (8)

While on vacation I accidentally left AIM linked to my phone, and during this time I began receiving messages from a girl I did not know. At the time I figured it was a friend of a friend that got my screen name. This turned into a discussions about meeting up and hanging out. A week later we went out together, as it turns out she was a friend of a friend, and that friend told me not to break this girls heart.
So the date went really well, in fact we ended up fooling around a bit. Now in my book thats just a good first date, but she thinks we are BF and GF now. This has me spooked a bit because she has been showing up at my work, just to see if I'm there, and txting me constantly.
I've tried telling her to back off a bit but she dodges the subject, so I layed low and avoided contact. this did not work, now my friend is pissed at me because I "Treated this girl badly"
So I'm here to ask, is there a way to resolve this without losing a friend, or should I just start burning bridges?

Keep fooling around with her and see how deep the rabbit hole leads. She may be coming on strong, but enjoy that while it lasts. Years down the road you will wish you had kept up with her.

dude, if he was really your friend he would give you an ultimatum.
Also about the girl, try actually talking to her, instead of being creeped out, maybe you guys have something in common, or maybe you might start liking her, just like >>2 said

Or, then one day you might wake up without eyes just to find that your penis isn't where it's supposed to be. I know this might sound harsh, but she sounds like a psycho. People have killed for less, you know?

So let me get this straight:
You have a 'friend' that is likely to harm you if you don't marry his/her batshit insane friend? Where did you meet these people - at the AA?

I dated someone who after our first date did the very same things and as it turns out she was crazy. She was on medication and had to go to a clinic a couple times but I decided to stick with her and it was hard extreemly hard but she did get better. the counciling and meds payed off and when she did get better it was the best and I would never take it back. Like 5 said you have to be careful becuase I know someone who was stabbed by a crazy girl after he slept with her. I don't know what I would do in your situation I don't know her and I don't know you just do what you feel is right trust your instincts

OP here, Have been avoiding talking to the chick by coming up with lame excuses about being busy. I've been keeping her at least mentally stable until i think that i can safely end it with the "I'm a really busy douchebag and you deserve better", at least at that point I look like a jackass, but a nice jackass that was thinking of her needs >.>
