With protesters throwing park benches and trash bins at police, I'd say it's that time of the year again where the big leaders come out to some random country, sit around and over cups of coffee, talk about matters. So why don't we talk about that here?

Here's some links to get you started, if you don't know what all the fuss is all about:

I've not read much on G8, but from what i've heard on the tv they want the big guys to forgive all of africas debt and give aid without any hooks. Shure that would help africa, but have they earned it? aren't we still mad at them for all the civil wars and stuff?

Mr Bush is still under pressure for failing to lift US spending on aid above 0.16 per cent of national income, compared with the 0.7 per cent agreed by the EU recently.

He said: "We will give aid, absolutely, and cancel debt, you bet, but we want to be assured that governments invest in their people ... and fight corruption.

"I don't know how we can look our taxpayers in the eye and say, this is a good deal to give money to countries that are corrupt."

You can bet that's not the real reason. I love spin.

Thats because the EU is socialist economically. America is more about private spending, not government spending

Sure, why not? Let's have a concert while the people they're raising money for starve to death, too.

difference between socialism and communism?

there is no money in communism. And no government. That's why it is usually told that USSR and all other countries had quasi-socialist systems - not communist.
