Can China still be considered Communist? While are are a far cry from democracy they have seemed to embrace capitalism.

china is just like modern russia. i.e. semi-democratic

Their government is typical for communistic nations, their economy however is basically capitalism.

China isn't true Communism, it's more of a moderate socialist state.

Milton Friedman himself made the Chinese government switch to capitalist reforms. By the way, that was what the Chinese students in 1989 protested against.

nope, sometimes china acts like more capitalist than even u.s.But well in theory,if you consider their way of running the country then they are still communist.

The way of running a country does not say anything about being communist. Hitler was no communist, for an instance. A country can be radical capitalist and still have a cruel dictator like Pinochet.

China has been a state capitalist country since the mid 70s.

Hitler was socialist, national socialist, remember that ;P And as for China, it is sort of totalitarian state when in comes to citizens but as it was mentioned, they are quite liberal about economy.

Yes, China is Communist still. The Bourgeoisie section of the party are currently the ones in control, but the Communist sector of the party is massively important and huge.

Here's an interesting article. http://www.pslweb.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=12205&news_iv_ctrl=1261

I'd say totalitarian.

China is less democratic than Russia, they only have one political party.

In the end, all communists only care about one thing: money
