Currently, the standard operating prodecure when I put in a new board is to rougly describe what it is about, and any specific details I can think off the top of my head. Now, given that I am biased amoungst other things, this thread is being opened to allow users, moderators etc to discuss editing or even re-writing the board introduction and even board rules, for all boards, so that they remain more suitable with the user base, and a little more accurate.

Please, be specific about what board(s) you are referring to.

I'd not update the single board rules per se, but adding a link to the global rules in each board might be a good idea. Like:
It should be obvious, but probably isn't to most persons, and those links also increase the chances of people actually reading the rules.

The global rules should also be extended. Firstly, a rule like this might be a good idea:
  • Do not make DQN posts outside of DQN, not even when responding to trolls. Yes, this includes not responding to stupid posts with the Yoshinoya rant
Secondly, how about adding a link to the wiki on the rules page? Right now, the only places the wiki is mentioned in way down in the 4-ch sidebar and in the news post - and people coming in from waka/iichan's sidebar might never get to see those.
