Windows Vista Ultimate seems to replacing a lot of icons with these annoying red Xs.

How do I fix this problem?

The gadgets worked fine from when I first installed them, then got the Xs. I reinstalled them a lot to try to fix it but it still doesn't do anything. Before I reformatted my computer, the gadgets were fine.
