Do any of these exist? I already know about Spybot and AdAware.

Yeah, I haven't had any problems with AVG yet, except maybe that its scan is a little slow, but I thought that about Mcafee too.

Helps being behind a firewall though.

AVG has been fine for one network that I've used it on.

When the Asperger's Syndrome Support Network upgraded a couple of their workstations, the machines came pre-loaded with AVG Free Edition 7.0. It seemed to be doing the job, and the users of the machines were quite happy with it, so I left it that way.

Later on, Grisoft decide to discontinue the version we were using, so the organisation bought a 5-computer site license, which has been running on the network ever since. It's reasonably lightweight, unobtrusive, and goes about its business without upsetting anyone -- which is exactly how this software ought to work.

Unlike the aspies themselves...

Awww come on... I don't go bothering people, and I'm not obese. ;-)

I simply mentioned that network as one I look after -- who had formerly been using Norton Antivirus, which used to insist on me logging in and doing updates as an Administrator.

I was put off AVG the first time I used it - its interface was ugly, and couldn't get through a scan without crashing. switched to Avira, which now displays an ad for the paid version every day, but otherwise seems fine.

Bitdefender online scan, but works with IE only. Still detects a lot and won't panic over UPX packed executables as some of the retarded scanners (or websites).
