Image-edting programs (16)

Hi, i am pretty much of a noob and hope you can help me ;)

So what i want to do:

Cutting of an element from a picture and "implanting" it into another one.
Of course you need editing to adjust the element, so it acutally fits in the picture.

And how can you "implant" a element into a gif?
I mean it would be a picuture in motion, or?

Can you name some program, which are very easy to handle even for a noob?

Thanks for help.

Uh, GIMP or Photoshop?

I have always though that they are very complicated to handle with.

Aren't there any programs for beginners, or to say it more drastically a program even for idiots^^?

I tried Gimp in the past.
Spend some hours on that and gave up.

Too complicated for me xD :( .

I hear that Paint.NET is very useful for this kind of thing for windows peoples, haven't tried it, but this might be just what you need. ( http://www.getpaint.net/ )

Jo thanks.

I will give it a look and hope it is not too hard too handle with.
YOu know i am pretty dumb, If i don't get used to it in some hours i give up (like always).

This is also the reason why i will never be able to learn programming etc. ;(

I think Photoshop stands in this case. It's really hard to beat Photoshop in most cases.

So, what good reasons are there for declaring Photoshop superior to GIMP? The only two I've heard are "CMYK support" (patent encumbered, so GIMP can't include it) and "interface" (a matter of taste, which probably comes down to which one you've used the most.)

Please don't argue ;=)

Well one good reason imo for GIMP is that it is for free.

Under normal circumstances you have to buy the the software Photoshop ;)

Yes, Photoshop and GIMP might be complicated. But you don't have to know 100% of everything they can do. So how to figure out exactly which 10% you need to learn?

I'd suggest you find someone who could teach you; or at least show off some of the things that are possible. Once you have a feel for what can be done, and maybe know a couple of technical terms, you'll have a much better chance figuring out what particular tools you can use to do what you want.

And if you don't have any friends (or classes?) to teach you in person, you could try looking for video tutorials. I don't know of any good ones, but Google Video must have a couple at least.

Btw: I just watched some Speed-Painting-vids.

I am speechless, just awesome work by those speed-painters :)

The trick to The Gimp and Photoshop is learning how to use Layers. If you wanted to shoop an image and say, put Kelsey Grammar's head on a poodle, you have the poodle on the bottom layer, and Kelsey Grammar on the top layer. Then you just erase the excess off of Kelsey, and position the head where it should go (resizing it to look right). Then you Merge down and save.

without layer grouping/folder support, editing images with more than 7 layers become a major pain.

Photoshop CS2 is just... I dunno saturated with goodness. The only complaint I can come up with is the expense, but even that is probably just empty bitching.

I love the tablet compatibility and integration with After Effects. It's like Ultimate Power!

Pity the user doesn't live up to the software's potential. ;;
