So I just got this new ATX 450w power supply from "FSB Group" pfft...

Damn Taiwanese...

Thing was all screwy, gave inadequate power to my gfx and cpu, then pretty much died, what a joke.
Now I have to RMA the thing, but you know, knowing my luck, I'm sure Newegg will send me a replacement that does the exact same thing, or worse. ><

Don't buy computer components, including PSUs, from manufacturers you've never heard of.

Well then find a PSU that has been manufactured in the US. Good fucking luck.

I found one forum post stating that http://www.pcpower.com/home/ is the only company that still manufactures ATX power supplies in the USA. Another forum post claimed they outsource to Seasonic, though.

Anyway, in >>2 I was thinking of someone like Antec. There are quality differences among Chinese/Taiwanese manufacturers as well.

I'd say especially PSUs. Remember, the PSU is the one component that can fry your whole system with one nice blow, and can take you with it if shit goes very very wrong.

FSP isn't that bad a company. they have a pretty decent reputation and are apparently the 6th largest supplier of psu's.

I've read some pretty good reviews of their products, but there always duds, especially with psu's I guess.
