people have been telling me that utorrent has been bought out by bittorrent. and since bittorrent is MPAA it's days are numbered. what does everyone think? what's a good utorrent alternative?

They're not owned by the MPAA, just happen to have deals with a few movie/TV companies (and the deals have nothing to do with anti-piracy stuff). I guess it couldn't hurt to look for an open-source client though. (I have no suggestions as I am a Linux user, sorry.)

rtorrent is nice (and talk about lightweight), but lacks dht (actually, i heard there was a patch for that, but never found it. admittedly i did not look very hard)

i use ktorrent on my linux desktop, and it's all right (i'd switch if something better came along). for windows i suppose there's always bloated old azureus. i don't know any good lightweight clients, though.

wikipedia's got a list of clients, though; look it up.

and stay the fuck away from bitcomet, i ban those fags :P
