Running NTSC-J game on PAL PS2 (3)

Hello all,

I have a PAL PS2. Recently I had it modified since some NTSC games weren't being released in PAL format. Now NTSC games run and save fine. Next I tried NTSC-J... the CD runs, but when I try to save, the game only keeps asking if I want to save. Someone told me NTSC-J games require Japanese version memory cards, so I bought one and tried to run the game with it... same thing, I only get "do you want to save?" over and over again.

I'm new to the world of modded consoles, please help! How can I get the game to run?

theres no diff between japanese and euro/etc memory cards, its only the gamecube that formats them in a certain language iirc

as for your problem, no idea. only thing i can think is you're pressing the X instead of O button to confirm, and the game keeps quitting out of the save screen only to redisplay it again ... in japanese version ps games the X and O buttons functions are generally reversed.

What he said, the O button in most Jap games acts as the X.
