Network Bridging Questions. (5)

So, I'm trying to do something that I'm figuring is fairly odd, and that I've been told is very difficult, though I can't see why this should be the case.

My plan is to get a router that supports wifi, but set up two connections with it. One connection is going to be my personal wired connection. I want to connect the dsl patch cable to my router, and then connect the router to my computer.

But here's when things start getting tricky. I want to set up a wifi connection too, and I want the router to bridge the connections so my computer only views it as one. Then, I want the router to pick out the packets that use a specified port and send them through the wifi connection, and then send all other traffic through the dsl connection.

I've tried explaining this to a few people, and they all think this is bizarre and would probably be difficult. That's why I came to 4-ch. I'm wondering if you guys could provide me with information on how to do this.

Since I'm just starting this, the only question I have now is: what router should I get (student budget, looking for something in the $40 range or thereabouts, if possible)?

Thanks in advance.

As a side note, I guess I should note why I'm in this situation. My friend just got a cease and desist letter from his ISP for downloading a movie. I'm a piss poor student. I work my balls off every day of the week, get an average of five and a half hours of sleep a night, and make about $50 a week. I don't have the damn money to appease the RIAA every day, and even if I did, I'd rather spend my money supporting local and indie groups. Please don't bitch at me about ethics, that debate should be in /net/ or /debate/ . Cheers, everyone.

That's the worst attempt at a 'friend of mine' story I've every had the misfortune of reading. You shifted to first person immediately after the first sentence and never went back.

Anyway, if you want to hook up that connection, you should probably subcontract it out to DARPA.

What does it matter? Wouldn't both connections link back to you (or your "friend") anyway? What would it matter if the 'shady' traffic is going over the DSL or the wifi?

I assume you're running windows.

Try ForceBindIP.

Just don't steal some poor bastard's unsecured wifi while you're at it.

Seriously... It's my friend that had an issue... Though I can see how it wouldn't seem like that. I'm totally fine, I'm just worried about having an issue like that. And I guess the reasons it shifted to me are (a), I'm paranoid, and (b), I don't really care about him.... at all.

Oh, and >>3 ... Unsecured wifi, as >>4 picked up on.

Nice app, Very nice app, thank you very much. Yeah, I'm on Windows... I could've done it easily on Linux, but alas, Linux is not the operating system for me.

Anyway, I'm using a private tracker and what appears to be a pretty reliable proxy, so I'm hoping things will be okay for now.... But if they aren't in the future, I'll remember that.

Cheers.
