Anyone found a way to get rid of Googleupdate? (4)

I installed Google Earth 5.0.1337 some time ago. Decided to uninstall it, but now every time I start Windows there are several Googleupdates running and it reinstalls Google Earth by itself even if it was already installed.
I've tried the usually suggested way of removing it from all possible task configurations, deleting files and deleting anything with google in regedit.. with no success >_<
I don't have any other Google soft running, but I do use the search engine and gmail. I don't think that's where it comes from though.
Despite this I can use my computer normally. Once I cancel the installing progress it doesn't open any new googleupdates later on, which seems to be the problem some people get. Few weeks ago I got it to the point where all it did was open a box saying something like "Google Earth installation cannot be started" at startup. After fucking around trying to delete it the installation process came back.
So, has anyone found a way to get rid of this unnecessary google virus permanently?

I have it too and I have no idea how to stop it, but I think you can successfully remove it if you follow one of the internet tutorials for this, for example:
http://antivirus.about.com/od/windowsbasics/ht/googleupdate.htm

There's more if you search for 'remove googleupdate'

And by the way, using the search engine or gmail doesn't affect this.

So I found out there was an update.exe with a Google Earth icon in my cursors folder that always ran on startup. Very sneaky, Google... The problem seems to be gone for now finally!
