Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (24)

Just came back from watching the movie. The drifting is not bad though I wish there was more cockpit scenes and a bit more drift battles. I couldn't take my eyes off Keiko Kitagawa....

Yep, shocked me that the girl looked like Keiko Kitagawa. Afterwards I searched and found out it was her. <3

One thing I hate about American movies that are supposed to take place in Japan is the fact that most of the Japanese people in the movie aren't actually Japanese.

I remember seeing a bunch of Chinese people in the movie. It is hard to tell between asians (i'm asian myself). Ever tried the site, alllooksame.com?

It was ok but the final race was ruined by the editing I couldn't even tell why DK went off the road because the cuts were so frantically fast

it was kinda weird. half was filmed in tokyo and the other half in CA. you can tell the parts that were filmed in CA considering...girls just don't dress like that in tokyo for the most part. i've seen a few slutty girls in tokyo, but they are way more modest than the girls in this film. those big white disco boots are so out of fashion for a few years now. the garage scenes were totally filmed overseas, with all the ass and belly shirt showing. and the girls with the random huge white makeup across their face? were they supposed to me manba girls? or some new breed of never before seen shibuya girls who dont care as long as they have a white stripe painted across their face.
i admit i really liked the scene where they were getting chased through shibuya, and they went through the hachiko crossing without hurting the crossers...but the story really didn't have much to it.

Having non-japanese actors not a huge issue, what's more important is having good actors. Initial D had this controversy among the fan community for its live action HK film.

While having authenticy is important, it is crucial to actors who can play the characters. Yes some actors are not japanese, but they didn't act or sound chinese or korean either.

I don't think it is a huge deal about where scenes of the film were located. "A garage in Japan is going to look the same in japan as it will in LA."

You can't have everything, there has to be a compromise. Otherwise the film couldn't have been done.

I thought it was pretty cool cuz I Love the cars. They'r so bling. HAHA... I think itz so stupid itz not mostly filmed in Tokyo. Itz supposed to b 'bout TOKYO drift. They should capture what Jap ppl r really like! Not make them look like sluts

I couldn't enjoy the movie anymore after I saw fucking Brad Taylor from Home Improvement get arrested for street racing. I was expecting Tim and Jill to come bail him out and Mark and Randy to make fun of him after that.

And then when Sean got sent to Japan to live with his dad ... 'cos he's DANGEROUS

And when he came home late and his dad hits with him with this: "Sean ... have you been racing?" OMFG, that killed me. That was the single most entertaining piece of dialouge I've ever heard. I think it tops Avril Lavigne's "Dude, wanna crash the mall?!" line from her "Complicated" music video.

bump for Kitagawa Keiko

24 Name: Couch Potato : 2007-03-24 14:19 ID:nKO015i7

Kitagawa Keiko was she the lead female?

Cos I thought she looked kind of weird. Something with her face I couldn't pick out...like, not natural looking?
