Does anyone know any good Japanese Movies?
I just saw Kamikaze Girls and it was sooooo good.
All About Lily Chou-Chou really is a film that makes you think; it's about 援助交際 (paid dating.. sometimes/often sex), bullying, and ostracizing in Japanese schools. A very powerful film, and the soundtrack is excellent too.
Even people who have no interest in Japan have told me the movie haunted them for days-- it leaves an impression!

I also enjoyed movies that were done by director Shunji Iwai.
Survive Style 5+
Ping Pong
Most of the soundtrack for Ping Pong was done by Supercar. That should be reason enough to go watch it. And Survive Style 5+ was directed by the dude that directed most of Supercar's videos. Oddly enough, I saw both of these movies before I heard of Supercar.

sono toki wa kare ni yoroshiku
with the guy from densha otoko... delicately told story about three childhood friends who meet again as adults by chance, or so they thought...
also the new version of tsubaki sanjuro is quite entertaining...

Really any of Akira Kurosawa.
Yojimbo and Sanjuro are good, although they're almost the same movie.
Rashomon is one of his most famous ones, especially from a film studies pov.
Ikiru gets away from samurai, and is good, but is also like 40 minutes longer than it should be.

For me it was dull and boring.
Onmyoji (2001) was good. Not too many Heian Period movies, and the jp mythology and wizardry was fun.
I liked G.I. Samurai, it's kinda like GATE where the JGSDF gets transported back to the sengoku era
