Death Note was pretty depressing, although mostly due to how severely they butchered the original work.

They should have taken the Original Way.

I've heard Tideland is a very depressing and miserable film.
I've also heard it's awful.

Agreed, though I didn't cry, it was rather tragic and quite a waste.

Watched "No Man's Land" last night. Pretty shitty ending. Not really a "baaaaaaaw" kind of thing, but it left me feeling just plain bad at the end.

I watched 'Riri Shushu no subete' as per your advice. That was a terrible film. Bad acting, bad direction, very very bad production. The only thing that kept me going was the music.

>>16 you kidding me right? Did you found out who was who on the chat? Spoilers ahead so warning:

Hasumi and Hoshina, both (ex) best friends and fan of Lily.

  • Hasumi in real life gets bullied by his former best friend, beaten etc etc..he's a victim. Yet ONLINE he's an admin, creater of the Lily's fansite: wise , a leader. etc. ..
  • Hoshino in real life is a bastard, raped hoshino's crush, beats him,etc etc.. ONLINE he is friendly,he respects others and becomes "friends" with Hasumi.

The thing is they BOTH don't know who is who, (anon). So at the end, Hoshino and Hasumi decide to meet up. Hoshino doesn't know, he thinks that hasumi is there because he is also fan never getting it's the admin. Hasumi not caring anymore decides to go in and visit lily's concert..His ONE LOVE, ONE ESCAPE from his terrible life..But what does hoshino do? He takes his ticket from him and leaves him outside..what happens next check it out.

-Bad direction? Not really, we get to see how any friendship can get from beauty to ugly. One of the FIRST scenes we get to see is hoshino (quite badass) strip down Hasumi and tells him to jerk off before him and his crew=power trip. We see hasumi laying on the ground, helpless, pathetic, one will wonder "WTF?". Then we see the PAST, a SMART,FRIENDLY,GEEKISH Hoshino and i'm like "WTF happened?".(all explained in the movie). It's not bad direction, the director is toying with us..let's us wonder. BRILLIANT!

  • Bad acting?= Now you are FULL of shit, no offence..but the actors there are quite famous and they do have cult status.
  • Bad Production?=no comment, jeezes.

Great movie, i'm sorry you didn't enjoy it.

Peace.

You seem to have summarized the entire plot, which blew you away (yeah great), without providing an valid argument to >>16 as to why the acting, directing or production is not awful. It's seems you're mostly thrilled with the

> Bad acting?....the actors there are quite famous and they do have cult status.

Level of fame is by no means indicative of fine acting craft.

> Bad Production?=no comment, jeezes.

no argument

>>4 The Death Note movies were amazing. You couldn't fit the original storyline of all twelve volumes into two standard-length movies.

And besides, they took an original turn with the series, since they couldn't be completely canon.

They're what interested me in the Death Note series.

22 Name: Couch Potato : 2008-02-23 13:55 ID:Heaven

Pfft... they could have stuck with canon if they wanted to. There were some silly things which changed which didn't have to.

Little Red Flowers

beautiful bodies, sad story

Traffic (2000)

No beauty or redemption or hope, just ugliness and misery and suffering.
The most depressing part might be that it's true enough to life to have been a documentary.

Serenity is kinda depressing, as a lot of people die in it.

Also, I found Grave of the Fireflies to be really depressing.

I think I'm the only person in the world that /didn't/ find Grave of the Fireflies depressing...
