so there is this huge controversy about the atheist pull that this movie has. I saw it yesterday because my Christmas was so lame. anyway the movie is so good and if you think that there is a atheist view to the movie to deserve questioning then you are an idiot

go see the movie it was fantastic

It did suck.

And who cares about an "atheist pull"? Wouldn't atheist themes in a movie be a plus compared to the usual Christ vs. The World metaphor?

I took my daughter to the movie. She said the anti-clerical theme that she thought was very clear in the books was not really visible in the movie. I enjoyed the movie though because I like gothic atmosphere and pretty heroines.

You've got a thing for Lyra? LOL

And the anti-clerical themes were glossed over so that christian Americans would willfully ignore what they knew to be true and go spend money on it anyway. Like Nicole Kidman kidding herself into thinking that the message wasn't actually contrary to her professed faith, because she stood to make a lot of money from the movie and the possible sequels.

I don't give a shit what message the movie had, I just hate how everyone dances around it and refuses to call a spade a spade.

Yeah, given the behaviour of the established church it's ironic how hypocrisy is just about the only sin Jesus actually condemned.

Saw the movie, was okay except for its shitty ending.
Polar bears in armor was awesome, but giving the villains all demons like wolves and insects was a shitty idea.

I wanted to see an elephant or lion fucking some shit up.

Now that I've finished the book I can finally watch the movie.

Isohunt, here I come.

It debuted in Japan this week and hit #1 in the box office. It didn't do that well here, did it? I wonder what the cultural difference is.
