i always thought working at a video store would be my summer job-of-choice... what's so painful about it?

I worked at a local video store a few months ago and it was extremely boring. I would open the store at 8am and then lie down behind a row of movies where the camera couldn't see me and fall asleep.

I got fired from the job, but that was due to tardiness.

Depends what kind of store you work in. I go to an independent video store where there's always 3 or 4 film students working the place, and they're allowed to play just about any movie they want. They just spend the whole time bullshitting. One time I overheard a conversation about how 70s zombie movies are better because they used real maggots.
