I wish him well, but I hope his happiness is due to him having the chance to sing and play live before a crowd, besides getting a role as musician.

I share your pessimism about this film though, and his singing has little to do with it, from what I read the director/writer and producer don't have a great resumé, and this is TH's first film as sole lead. Bad signs everywhere.
