Been a TH fan for about a year and discovered this board aka sanctuary of normality only recently after sullying myself with CB, bicycle site etc with increasing horror. By coincidence I found the nw3 blog a couple of days after it appeared (when it looked like the first posts had already been deleted as it started apparently in the middle with no introduction). I have vaguely kept up with it since and noted some of the giveaway signs of the fake that others have referred to above - the early sightings, the development from a random neighbour into "I've met [know?] his mum & sister", the promises of a big reveal, followed by a crap reveal about SF and then once a head of steam is built up, all this "I don't feel comfortable" rubbish and no more sightings.
The following tidbit is for those on here musing about the authenticity (or not) of the stuff reported in 685.
As it happens I did live in NW3 for 13 years, until I moved a couple of years ago, and within a 5 min walk of where he lives. I never saw him and wouldn't have known who he was if I did (I did once see Chris Martin putting the bins out - oh the glamour!). FWIW I have always thought nw3 is British, is a Londoner and does live round there. There's enough detail that rings true about the area and the timings, comments about the weather etc are close enough; it is also a mixed area with a lot of pretty rough social housing cheek by jowl with the mansions, so it really could be anyone.
One thing I did wonder about though was all this "you can't see the house from the road" stuff which I think originated with a comment from nw3 herself on the bicycle blog. This didn't fit with my recollection - I know where it is as my husband and I have over the years looked at a lot of properties round there, albeit not in that particular complex.
Yesterday after not having been down that way for ages I had to go to a posh paint shop round there, so I took a saunter down to see what was visible from the road - and guess what? You can see the skylights from 2 separate locations on the public street. Not the ground floor windows with the iron (in the tongue twister video) but you can see the skylights above and also I am 99% sure the skylights of the big double height room that the bicycle so considerately published. They may not be visible in summer from one of the locations when there are more leaves on the trees, but they are now.
So - all this stuff about seeing lights on may be totally true. I doubt you'd see them on a bright day but on a dull day or in the evening you certainly would, assuming that those rooms are in use. But the idea that she has to be in the block is rubbish. So she need not be JA, or a mate of hers, or of his, or see him half as often as she insinuates, as basic info (lights on, likely to be at home) is available from the street. She could be (and in my view probably is) a random stranger who sits in the cafe along with the rest. Having debunked one conspiracy theory perhaps I shouldn't start another but I wonder if this "not visible from street" may have originated with her as a way of concealing the rather basic origins of her gossip and bigging up herself as a reliable source...? Be interested to know if others know where this originated and what they think. Sorry for long rambling post!
