This is great!’ And then I talked to Tom and said… ‘I would never pressure you, but I really feel like it would be great if you could do this, and he was like, ‘Sure.’ And they’re like, ‘But we already have Idris!’ And again, I had no problem there. Everybody’s in! We had Loki in the second part of [Thor’s] dream and [Marvel] was like, ‘Well that doesn’t work and we don’t want to introduce Loki’ this late.’”
Whedon goes on to describe the scene fully: “We even had a little reference to the fact that he’s taken the throne, which was Tom doing his Anthony Hopkins impression when Thor says, ‘Oh, what would father say?’ Then Tom does his Hopkins impression, and Thor’s like, ‘That is uncanny!’ It’s sort of like his subconscious is telling him that Loki was imitating his father. But he would never make that connection.”

Maybe "contractual issues" means that for the purposes of a multi picture deal, AOU would count as one movie. They might prefer to save him up for better things. Glad you found the article interesting. I bet the options TH signed up to when he did Thor would also make interesting reading as he certainly wasn't A list then (if indeed he is now). Didn't the filming schedule for TTDW kill off that project with Hayley Atwel he was interested in?

The additional scenes for TTDW were shot in July 2013 (I think). Some fans think it was Marvel's doing that killed off the Capa film, personally I doubt it. Filming scenes for AoU didn't cancel High Rise, or altered his ISTL schedule. TH said he spent 3 months preparing for Capa, he went to Budapest in May 2013, I doubt the call from Marvel happened overnight and those additional scenes didn't take months, few weeks top.

As for JA, clearly the writer just googled TH+girlfriend and that was the last name linked to him. Even the paps in England never bothered to try to catch them together, not after Wimbledon, not after BoraBora. One more reason why I said TH can't be too happy about this.
