We call it first past the post. There is no transferable vote and it doesn't go to a national total of who got most overall. The difference is there is no separate race for PM - the post is filled by the party that gets most MPs. When we talk about a hung Parliament we mean that there aren't enough of one party's MPs to win a vote. We don't get a democrat President, a Republican Congress situation.

Some people have complained that his means parties with a lot of votes nationally (chiefly the Lib Dems) lose out on this system. The significant upside to my mind is that parties like UKIP don't get many seats. There are disadvantages with both systems.
