His positive reviews about an early cut of a movie really matter to the movie producers. So they'll get him to announce these free ticket event promos for many movie openings.

But this genre? A biopic about a long-dead country singer? This is different and worth noting. I'm guessing they were approached by SPC in case any Marvel fans might be interested in seeing Loki and Scarlet Witch to drum up positive vibes wherever they can. Aint-it-cool-news was always independent, so I'd be surprised to learn that he'd signed a contract with SPC or some middleman/arm of Sony's PR dept. to promote their movies no matter what the movie was.
