Ha ha I just had a thought - he flew into LA on 31 May. She announced the split on 1 June.

It could therefore just about be true that they got together after the split (like, the day after). I recall reading that they talked on the phone and while they were talking he arranged flowers to be delivered right then. Sounds a bit less like bullshit and more feasible if he happened to be in LA as well.

So they see each other in LA some time after 31 May, then on 4 June they fly separately to Philly. Then he flies home on 6 June - meeting at Paramount Studios on 7 June - then back out to NYC on probably 9 June. We catch the story a few days later on 15 June. That's why it doesn't look quite like a first date. They are about 2 weeks in and we have already had the romantic gesture of her firing up the private plane for some secret nookie in Philly.
