The anecdote at the end about John le Carre trying to hijack the scene he appeared in makes him sound both cantankerous and stupid. I would have thought it is pretty obvious that Pine needs to resolve the dispute with the other diner so the scene can move on. What a twat trying to "win" the argument onscreen. Now we know that if John le Carre was playing Hamlet he would say to Laertes, no no I'll take this poisoned rapier....you have the other one. No. Get off. I want that one. Etc.
