>>299 Probably because he's not as cerebral as he tries to appear. His waxing on about poetry and Shakespeare and literature shows only surface level understanding. What he says is all very academic and doesn't show a genuine connection or understanding of the literary piece. He's really easily impressed by high statuses and was starving for fame himself (dunno if he still feels that way). In the beginning he was endearing but as his career stayed stalled, he grew desperate for fame at any level. We could all see his desperation so it's not surprising he went head over heels for Taylor. What was surprising was how far he was willing to go to be her doormat, doing whatever was needed instead of acting like a 35 yr old mature man he portrays himself to be. If anyone played Tom, it was himself. Maybe he's learned his lesson and will mature, who knows. But the blame doesn't lie solely on Taylor. She's ruthless and will do whatever to save her brand. He should've done his homework on her and not let his blind ambition screw him over. He started playing the cheap tabloid and pap game with Elizabeth Olsen and it reached peak momentum with Taylor. The taint of it all is gonna stay on him for a while until he figures out what he wants more. Fame or an actual acting career. But he's definitely not some poor innocent soul, he's just inept at playing the Hollywood fame game.
