Pain and guilt (pain, yes; he wasn't acknowledging guilt, at least at the time of the GQ article). Anger and bargaining (anger, yup). Depression/ loneliness/ reflection (the first two, yes; again, don't know how much self-examination he's done). The Upward Turn (he's likely either here or in Reconstruction and Working Through). Acceptance and hope (someday, one hopes soon).
