Torilla pics of Hiddleston strolling among his fans in Shanghai, promoting IW. Luke is there, too. He's wearing the uniform w the Hamlet boot and his torn Nike run cap. I guess their plan is to show how popular Tom is with his fan base and avoid all spontaneous press interviews. TS is releasing the Getaway Car song about the fauxmance to coordinate w the release of IW.

>>706 That running cap isn't just torn - the brim looks chewed! Maybe the plan is to keep the focus on what he's wearing so people discuss that rather than anything else? (He wore that misfire of the ill-fitting greige suit again in Shanghai. Oy.)

In the second set (for those who haven't clicked through yet), he's so focused on the fans that he almost gets caught by the revolving door behind him. But his fan focus isn't "extra" the way it used to be most times.

There's what I think is a rather sweet vid of him surprising some Loki cosplayers at the London fan event: https://www.facebook.com/marveluk/videos/1495992563861015/. He's goofy behind the set, but very focused on the cosplayers while on stage with them rather than trying to pull focus to himself. Celebitchy has a reaction (not too snarky in the article - the comments are another matter): http://www.celebitchy.com/574191/tom_hiddleston_ambushed_loki_cosplayers_the_response_was_muted/

Tom talks about Shakespeare for quite a while during an interview for IW in China, starting at minute 6:22. Tom says that he has no plans to go back soon, btw.

Oh dear. Apparently, none of the IW cast members was such an SOB to an interviewer this weekend at the Marvel press junket, that the studio officially apologized and pulled the "the cards" (the tapes)of the interview, to endure that there wouldn't be a record. B/c Tom is one of the more well known faces in Avengers, celebitchy used his face in the header to the article, although they say in the article that it could not have been Tom, since he is so unfailingly polite to journalists as a matter of practice. The guessing game to name the rude Avenger, is on!

At around 2:25 in this vid, the interviewer asks Tom if he can do an impression of one of his cast-mates. Tom demurs, saying "That's all in the rear-view mirror; I'm not allowed to do that anymore." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2i_SLAQPpU

Which may explain why Luke has been hovering throughout this press tour.

In other news, for those of us in the US, Tom will be on Jimmy Kimmel with some more of the cast tomorrow night (Tues.)

>>720 I have to agree with Anon and the article in >>721 - it doesn't really sound any closer to being made than it has for years. And Ivory's new desire for 3D probably isn't helping. That would make the production much more expensive, would require movie chains to give up 3D showings of more profitable movies, and might even keep it out of the art houses. I doubt it could bring in enough non-Shakespeare/Hiddelston fans to compensate. He should consider staging it for NTL broadcast instead.

An article about a prominent UK casting director that I found interesting: https://www.theguardian.com/news/2018/apr/26/game-of-thrones-the-crown-nina-gold-casting-director . It doesn't mention Tom (though I could see him being the 'eminent actor at a dinner..., whose opening line to [her] was: “Why never me?” '). What do you think of her theory that "acting outside your natural class is unbelievably hard, as the actor isn’t in automatic possession of the array of tics and expressions that betray background. And while you can act up a class, you can’t, or at least shouldn’t ever, act down"? It could help explain why Tom has been limited to certain role. She is casting a remake of Shogun, though, and if she's looking for a Richard Chamberlain type, we know someone who's likely available....

>>728 Hi all! Sorry I haven’t been around - pleasures of work.

Mismatched socks photos now on Torrilla! Bobby looks very glossy and well. If these were indeed taken last Saturday, it was a very warm day in London (Royal wedding day!!) and I am mystified why Tom would go out with a puffa jacket. He must really feel the cold!

Tortilla pics. Is Tom wearing new black Nike sneakers finally? How did he, as a serious distance runner, wear older sneakers for so long? Not great for ankle support. Are those new shades? Tom seems to wear his dress socks or whatever long socks he finds in his collection instead to run, instead of athletic socks. I don't quite get this...Are those new shades? Bobby is so big! Good to see him out, though!

Apparently Charles Cumming, spy fiction author, has been hired to help screenwriter Matthew Orton write TNM 2 teleplay. Not a fan of sequels, generally. I guess the BBC really wants this to happen.

>>744 If this is the next project for TH they better get writing!

On a sort of related note, I saw that Nina Gold, about whom Heynon posted that long read article, was the casting director for Patrick Melrose, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Since he and TH are friends, I really did start to wonder if Heynon was right when she joked that “why is it never me?” anecdote being him!! I could just see them sitting down to dinner chez Cumby in Tufnell Park and him buttonholing her.....

746 Name: Heynon : 2018-06-02 15:16 ID:N+5QDef3

>>744, >>745 Not sure if it's good news or bad that they hired a second writer. Otherwise the good (for TH's employment, at any rate) news is that the project is still alive; the bad is that it won't be happening any time soon.

>>745 In reading a sample from the English Public School book I referenced in >>735, the author writes "It has been said of Eton that it encourages aspirations, with every stone imbued with the motto 'Why not me?'" I could see Tom earnestly asking that question of a major casting director. A compilation of Tom pictures from a BAFTA event today: at hiddlesfashion on b l o g s p o t /2018/06/bafta-summer-party-2018.html. Apparently he's now an ambassador for a new initiative for them; another good step in rebuilding his cred.

Reminds me how passionately I dislike the beard. I feel it somehow makes him look scruffy even when wearing a suit. Also his hair has now achieved Beaker-like proportions.

>>750 "Beaker-like proportions" - bwahahahaha! That's perfect!

The beard has grown on me, but it's so much better when he's let a stylist trim it. No stylist was involved with BAFTA - one of today's pictures was shot from behind, and his suit jacket is creased and even crumpled at the bottom.
