is HILARIOUS

Oh really? all I've ever heard about it was that it was amazingly fun while watching, and when it sinks in, you start noticing how sickening the jokes where. And you start disliking it.

it's amazingly fun while watching it. that's it.

anyone who finds the jokes "sickening" really has no concept of what comedy is. i'm especially amused by the people who accuse sacha baron cohen of being anti-semitic.

I concur

What exactly is the basis for calling it sickening? Maybe some people weren't expecting the content to have so much nudity and such. For example, the Wrestling scene. I thought it was hilarious.

I plan on seeing Borat ASAP when I go home for break.

I had to cover my eyes for most of that movie, it was so embarrassing.

Borat's hilarious, but I think he will get old quickly. Love how a seemingly low-budget movie like this gained instant popularity (and several law-suits).

Have you not heard of Ali G?

16 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-11-30 13:09 ID:7CCwXMjn

Borat is a stupid movie. It's for Americans who did not know anything about the Kazahks.
This movie SUXXX!!!

Has no sense of humor. Thinks all Americans are dumbfucks. GB24ailchan!

Well not all. Most of them. ^^

They want to give him a medal for boosting interest in Kazakhstan. So it really isn't offensive to them...

Wonder where Borat will be stopping over next? Maybe the UK?

Borat started out in the UK.

Anyway, Borat is dead. The humour was entirely dependent on people not knowing he's a comedy character. Now the movie has been released, everyone knows he's a comedy character.

Cohen is already in talks of making a third movie. It's rumored his next movie will be about his Bruno character. But, yeah, Borat is tapped out after the movie. That's why you see Borat everywhere (he's on the cover of last week's Rolling Stone and the numerous television appearances last month). He's milking the character for all its worth.

I don't even see the appeal of Borat. It doesn't look much different than Jamie Kennedy Experiment or Candid Camera. It's the exact same schtick -- "comedian" makes people uncomfortable and they say and do stupid things. WOW -- he are original. Yet all the geeks are playing sophisticated by saying Borat redefines comedy, and that he's a visionary. No and No. He made a reality show mixed with a candid camera show, both of which are over 10 years old.

The wonder of the movie for me is that it blended irl pranks and fictoral acting seamlessly, looking at it from a completely technical point of view, it's pretty impressive how well all the individual pranks and improv'd scenes are cleverly woven together and fitted into an actual script.
in that sense, it 'is' a new type of comedy. one that blends reality and fiction.

The police were called on Baron Cohen 96 times during the filming of Borat =D

movie budget = bail monies.
lol.

28 Name: Couch Potato : 2006-12-16 00:44 ID:Oha/vfeQ

I can't believe he got away with making that at all...the movie was hilarious and it said a lot about Americans in general.

To be fair, the film makers had a good idea who to go to for the best comments and reactions. The part where Borat is born again and all the speaking in tongues nonsense at the revival doesn't really reflect Americans as a whole or even a majority.
