Cohen is already in talks of making a third movie. It's rumored his next movie will be about his Bruno character. But, yeah, Borat is tapped out after the movie. That's why you see Borat everywhere (he's on the cover of last week's Rolling Stone and the numerous television appearances last month). He's milking the character for all its worth.
I don't even see the appeal of Borat. It doesn't look much different than Jamie Kennedy Experiment or Candid Camera. It's the exact same schtick -- "comedian" makes people uncomfortable and they say and do stupid things. WOW -- he are original. Yet all the geeks are playing sophisticated by saying Borat redefines comedy, and that he's a visionary. No and No. He made a reality show mixed with a candid camera show, both of which are over 10 years old.
The wonder of the movie for me is that it blended irl pranks and fictoral acting seamlessly, looking at it from a completely technical point of view, it's pretty impressive how well all the individual pranks and improv'd scenes are cleverly woven together and fitted into an actual script.
in that sense, it 'is' a new type of comedy. one that blends reality and fiction.
The police were called on Baron Cohen 96 times during the filming of Borat =D
movie budget = bail monies.
I can't believe he got away with making that at all...the movie was hilarious and it said a lot about Americans in general.
To be fair, the film makers had a good idea who to go to for the best comments and reactions. The part where Borat is born again and all the speaking in tongues nonsense at the revival doesn't really reflect Americans as a whole or even a majority.
Borat is a hilarious movie!
