Thread to talk about actor Tom Hiddleston
Tom Hiddleston 1
that is not Oxford, but England's Lane, dailyfail being a fail as always.
something more exciting to read, so we have a sort of calendar of where TH might show up next. No mention of BFI London Film Festival, High Rise probably isn't considered an Oscar film.
another neighbour! really that's a mess up area to live.
Now showing as "protected" - what was it, another photo?
Seriously though, I lived in that area for nearly 10 years and there are/were loads of celebs living there eg Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, Jude Law. Nobody stalks them or takes pics in cafes. It's his crazy nonny fans - and his own stupid fault for not ticking the box asking for his address details to be kept off the publicly accessible electoral register. Many people do this routinely for privacy reasons so why he didn't is a mystery.
>>5 not another photo, she claimed to be a neighbour of his and that she knows him and that those photos were taken back in spring and that she knows for a fact they are just friends.
It's like the whole world lives in that area.
Following the cafe's twitter account wasn't very smart either. But I think it was TH who said in an interview where he lived or who his neighbours were, Burton and Carter.
>>7 Yes I thought following the cafe was not smart.
Compare TH with Cumberbatch. He's got plenty of nonny fans too and lives in the area - I think. But I could not say exactly where or where he hangs out because he has been more circumspect and is Not On Twitter (sensible man).
>>8 I'm not a BC expert, far from it, but someone took photos of BC in the area with the baby recently, and I read in the newspaper a couple of years ago that BC had a problem with a neighbour that would post on twitter when he was home and what he was doing. Eventually BC sorted it out, but the police was almost involved. Or something along these lines.
With TH, while I agree he might have been a little bit wiser about his whereabouts, I also think fans would have found out the way they found out where his parents live.
>>9 Eeew. I didn't know about the BC twitter stalker.
But I assume that the fans found out about TH parents and his addresses through websites that use info from the electoral register. As I said above it is very easy to stop that, you just tick the box.
Hum: https://twitter. com /MichaelNotCera/status/623982718477594624
It would be ironic if she got the Oscar nom and not him.
"I SAW THE LIGHT reaction: Elisabeth Olsen was phenomenal, Tom Hiddleston was really good too (though script held him back a bit)"
>>11 we posted at the same time with the same thought haha
I have thought for a while it could be a dud. I don't personally think he can sing (!). He's also been so earnest and intense about it (even more than usual) and I am not sure that's good for a relaxed natural performance. One of those projects everyone involved in is too passionate about to realise it is actually not very good.
To me the possible problems with ISTL were always the little appeal it has for people outside the US and the director. But you have a point about the danger that too much intensity might result in a stiff interpretation. However, TH sounded satisfied with it when he talked about it at the Nerdist podcast.
speaking of the podcast, it will be up at Nerdist website on Monday. While Tuesday and Wednesday we'll know the programs for TIFF and Venice Film Festival
>>15 He did sound pleased but I am not sure he is the best judge. He seems massively (over?)invested in the project - the serious weight loss, the virtually closed set and lack of twitter interaction, still wearing the wedding ring at a Vanity Fair shoot in LA. I know he gets really enthusiastic but I think he's gone slightly method actor nuts about it.
>>18 I think he thinks he's going to win an Oscar and that is so often the kiss of death.
>>19 that I'm not so sure, he isn't exactly campaigning like others did, at least so far. I mean I have no problem believing that the Oscar potential of this biopic was also a factor in accepting this role, but I also think that he knows very well that a very good performance isn't enough to guarantee even a nomination. Take Timothy Spall last year with Mr Turner for example.
hmm, strange, unless I'm mistaken, going by google streetview (images from June 2014) the background shown in the photo doesn't match the background of the point where TH and EO were, at the end of the bicycle lane in Haverstock Hill. The house colour is different and the tree.
someone answered me haha
"I saw it last evening. Sorry to report that it's flat. It's not a good biopic or a decent representation of a career."
"Russell Crowe Eyed to Star in Legendary’s ‘Kong: Skull Island’"
"Crowe has not read the script yet, however, as he’s waiting for a new draft."
Meh indeed. And now another month back from the end of the year to the beginning of next.
I didn't notice the delay to early next year, bigger meh.
TH has now all the time time to promote his films, but as soon as he is done with Kong he will have rush into Thor3. And if Kong is postponed again and he'll have to drop out, Marvel waits for no one.
>>26 I have a feeling that Kong isn't going to happen somehow. Or not with him.
No pda, come on! Good luck convincing the general public that they didn't start while she was still engaged.
>>29 I thought the lack of PDA was weird. And, if you look at all the photos he jumped in the cab ahead of her and left her to close the door, lol. True love.
why did TH looked so annoyed? You go to a famous place and you expect no paparazzi? Knowing that a DM article is already out with a pic of you two? Also good luck convincing people this is not PR.
>>30 right? na dhe did his best to keep his hands to himself. I mean there's already a photo where you have a arm around her, just hold hands at this point? Myabe we'll have a statement today.
"Oh I also saw Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olson at 'The Elephant Man' tonight. They looked very cozy indeed ....god Im a creep"
So first theatre and then dinner.
haha this keeps making laugh, why EO had her wallet out at some point? Was she also going to pay the cab, after having to close the door? TH is generally so gallant.
Make me happy and give a statement.
wild idea what if instead it was EO with him in Oxford and he brought her to visit his father? Maybe he'll pull a BC and announce an engagement? They can always break it after the Oscars. Maybe the reason she wasn't with him at Wimbledon it's because he didn't want to seem repetitive.
>>36 Doubt it. Even if it was her with him, there's loads to do in Oxford besides visit Tom's father.
>>37 I did say it was a wild idea...but you can't tell me that if he is in Oxford he won't visit his father.
Here's Unity description of TH narrator work for their documentary
btw, TH follows justjared on twitter, so he's going to see the photos and the comments of their page.
>>31 And what's with the EO "hands over the face" routine? Lady, your PR leaked the story to US Weekly which was the start of all this. And having been photographed in Central London you then chose to go out to, er, a celeb spot in the West End.
>>29 And I feel sure they did start during ISTL. I posted upthread that I thought he'd gone a bit over invested and method about the project. I'm not surprised he also fell in lurve with his co-star.
Torilla has just posted loads of different pics - of them looking even more pissed off and dishevelled than the others. And with some hilarious pics showing she was walking 20 yards behind him, with a scarf over her face. That'll put them off the scent.
Oh goody, I was away from TH news recently, but looks like returned just in time, lol.
I don't really know anything about her apart from what I've read here and on other gossip sites. Pretty and seems rather nice but kind of bland. If that's not a PR thing, I also think they started it when she was still engaged.
She is standing sadly by the railings still covering her face while he is hailing a cab. Since she is going to get into the cab with him at some point this seems a pointless exercise.
TH looks really good in those pics though :) He started wearing glasses.
>>45 Agreed. If they were really trying to seem like they were not together, why not just take different cabs?
Daily fail http://dailym.ai/1LA0TJc via @DailyMailCeleb
There's a video too
Does anyone think they'll make some sort of official statement, or just let the rumor mill keep churning?
>>48 Now that I've seen the video, I think maybe she was blinded by the flashes.
When I see scenes like that, I'm glad that I'm not famous.
>>49 "Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are going out with each other. They ask you to respect their privacy at this difficult time."
>>50 On one level it must be awful. But there are ways of managing it, like go to one of 20 amazing restaurants in London where there are no paps.
>>53 Which is one of the reasons I am not discounting the PR Relationship conspiracy theories. Neither of them is new to the business - especially not Elizabeth, her family has been in Hollywood for decades.
>>54 Somehow I don't get that with him. Nuffield summaries said he talked a lot about how Capt. Nicholls was the man he wanted to be: honourable, decent, truthful etc. To fake a relationship, in such embarrassing circumstances (implicated in breakup of engagement), doesn't seem his style.
Last comment before I go off and work for a living! I think it is a genuine romance between two not obviously compatible people, born out of an intense time working on ISTL. I expect it will last for a reasonable time because of their work patterns (absence makes the heart grow fonder...) and I also expect he will flog it to death because otherwise he is just the guy who gave the excuse to get out of a bad engagement, or the rebound guy.
>>56 see, this is what I don't get, Tom Mison is in no way as popular as Hiddleston, but when he got married he simply had his people make a statement. And Redmayne when he was papped out with his gf, well before they got engaged, never walked yards ahead falsely pretending not to be together.
If they are dating, then make a statement that says "we are dating and we'd like to keep it private", don't go to a famous celeb restaurant and then pretend to be annoyed by paps spotting you. If instead you are just friend, again make a statement, at least it won't seem like a PR move.
And who was TH calling in the cab? there's a photo in the DM article, #7, where he is at the phone, was he calling Luke to say "mission accomplished"?
I bet a lot of fans are now gathering around his house and cafè.
Let me clarify that I'm not saying that they should make a statement because the owe fans or people an explanation, but because the situation is putting them both under a bad light.
I read there were tweets about them being in the restaurant, has anyone read them?
>>56 Although I don't believe the whole relationship is a PR fabrication, I can well believe this outing was intended to get the news out there. But as with everything about his previous relationship, so badly managed. She must have had 200 times this much flash in her face at the Oscars and she didn't need a bag on her head then (and nb he looks fine, if annoyed). It feels off. Look at me/don't look at me.
I hope lurking Luke isn't getting a 5% cut of TH income for this craptastic performance!
Maybe EO read that TH always brought his former ladies to tennis matches and fancy places and here she was, robbed of a Wimbledon appearance, always eating at Ginger&White and The Hills. She might have ask for an upgrade to their dating routine.
TH's shoes are atrocious, so worn out at this point it's a wonder they don't fall apart.
Link to those photos >>43 mentioned.
compare to these
Just one thing: in February they spent their birthdays apart. She was with some friends (there is a tweet with a picture of her with a cake) And Tom was a some BFI private event
Tom wasn't working at time. FYI
>>71 Was she in London when she celebrated her bd? Because according to the nw3anon and her crew of neighbours, she was hanging out with him when she was in London in February and maybe they had a private celebration, or maybe not. After even now, he went to Wimbledon she had dinner with other actors.
>>72 I posted about this on the last board. NW3 claimed in May 2015 after the first rumours or a relationship that she had seen him with EO in January and that she had posted about it. Maybe she did see him with her at the time and subsequently realised who it was, but at the time neither she nor anyone else mentioned it IIRC. I discovered that blog a few days after it started and watched as the story grew (how she knew him, had met his mother, sister etc). EO's name was never mentioned, and this was at a time when she was posting on a daily basis that she had seen him, of he was out running or whatever.
Honestly though, I still don't know about these 2. But I admit to having problems finding sense in what TH does - obviously because I don't have all the facts - so I don't expect to find it here. I mean, what was the sense of being all chummy with an acting school friend (Sian) and then all of a sudden it's like she doesn't exist. What's the sense of inviting someone to a holiday in a tropical island and after 1 week she is out of his life?
>>73 thanks, I missed those posts in January, and only read the ones in May reporting the "supposed" sightings. See what I mean, no sense at all.
Cake https://twitter. com/ElizabethOlsenn/status/569314709398294529?s=09
Definitely not very loved up back then.
And then he left for TNM, so this is likely the first time they met after the shooting ended. I really don't know.
They may have celebrated their birthdays together in advance? According to alleged neighbours, EO stayed in London with TH for 2 weeks.
Here are a few NW3 anon asks that I saved :
I refreshed my memory using (ugh) the bycycle site - she reblogged a lot of nw3. She records on 6 Feb that TH was spotted with a brunette with blonde highlights in the last few days and that EO had been in London "recently". Other posts show they all knew that EO had broken off her engagement and were speculating as the cause and yet nobody seems to have been able to go the extra mile and confirm that the person seen with him was EO. They all thought it was JA!!
>>79 But I interpret the response to those first 2 asks as nw3 dismissing the rumours that EO must have stayed with TH because she had been seen in London ("eyeroll I just...sigh" "facepalm Any spark to start a fire").
>>79 from the nw3 response in February it seems like she was denying it. Then in May she kept it vague.
EO was in Paris on Jan 27th, but she arrived earlier via jet because she attended Dior fashion show, that was on the 26th.
On Jan 31st EO was still in Paris.
Nope. Those events happened on January 27 & 29 :
I can't seem to find any article about her in February before she was back to NY for her birthday.
But I'll say this, she leads a life that is the complete opposite of TH's. She clearly likes the spotlight even when outside the red carpet.
>>84 yeah, but do you see her, jumping on a plane right after an event? she was nowhere near London in January.
Those events were in Paris. She could have easily jumped onto the eurostar on January 30.
The "brunette with blonde highlights" sighting seems to have been on 25.01 (and some people thought it was Kat Dennings!). It could I suppose have been EO if she went to London before heading on to Paris. After 25.01 and in early feb I don't see from the bycycle any mentions of him with EO or anyone.
>>88 I think that sighting might have been from a troll, to spark speculations about JA again
>>87 An American celeb on a train? I'm not saying she wasn't in London afterwards, I'm saying she didn't spent a weekend in January.
>>88 I quite agree it could have been trolling.
But I come back to my point that it was that sighting that made people (not the original posters who claimed to have seen the woman) speculate a few days later that it could have been EO because she had been in London.
Does anyone have the tweets from other diners in the Wolseley? Someone said there were some, but I haven't seen them. Thanks.
Yes, they all came out of the woodwork in May, saying they saw her in January! I guess we have been talking about it because it might suggest they were more serious early on.
>>94 I know, sorry, I didn't want to sound like there was no point to it, bad choice of words on my side. I just meant that we have no way of finding any more sources so we are left with the doubt of whether this July outing is the first they have seen of each other or not.
Well hey maybe they did meet up in January! Says they met up after she finished Paris fashion week. Depends on whether they mean her trip to Paris a few weeks ago or in January.
All from her I notice. Isn't US weekly her news organ of choice?
>>97 I'm pretty sure they refer to the recent one.
>>98 so I read, in fact the bit about the broken engagement is at the very end of the article, let's avoid people noticing the obvious overlapping.
of course it's worth remembering that TH is the guy that months after Wimbledon+JA, still declared he was single, dating is a long process for him. I wait for another "nothing home to write about" and then off to a tropical island. Isn't Kong happening in Hawaii ;)
>>98 was it always us weekly that said TH was a decoy for CE?
>>102 The Chris Evans story came from the Enquirer. I suppose if TH and EO weren't or aren't too serious, there could still be some truth to CE and EO having a little on set romance.
>>101 Haha true. Funny how the Us article "sources" say they're "hooking up" but that they also "really care for each other" so it doesn't seem like a FWB situation, but make sure to add it's still "not a large commitment." Basically it's the relationship that is whatever anyone wants to think it is. They're dating! But it's not serious. They're hooking up! But they do care about each other. People who want them to be together can focus on the dating and the caring, and people who don't like them together can focus on the hooking up and the non-commitment. Convenient.
>>103 I agree, that's why I keep saying that I don't know about these two. It's difficult enough to tell with TH, but this is a real mess. And what's funny is that with JA he should have kept his mouth shut, without his interviews we would have seen the video, the Tahiti photos and thought "oh they are still dating" and then "oh she disappeared after Tahiti" - entertaining to comment as it was. And now, when he should speak he is keeping quiet.
And boy, they look pissed here!
Does anyone else wonder what they talk about on these long phone calls? He is unusually cerebral for a sleb. I am not saying she is stupid - she's clearly a good businesswoman - but book learnin' is a different kind of smart. Does she get really bored waiting for him to stop going on about Shakespeare and the gothic novel so they can get down to it?
>>106 Shame on you for not reading properly, "They've been talking constantly" constantly, you see, who had the time to get down to it? haha
She probably fell asleep waiting.
Seriously though, is this some kind of Pygmalion thing? I've read interviews and I don't see much crossover.
>>106 I know I would.
Well, he was engaged to Susannah, meaning it was quite serious. Was she on the same level intellectually as he? That's an honest question cause I don't know. Did not get that vibe from her though.
Not saying it's all that serious with EO :)
Were he and SF engaged?
>>111 I thought she was his fiancee, no? Maybe I am mistaken, my bad then.
No they weren't, but he was constantly talking about her and seemed to be very happy with her at least on photos.
But I am not really talking about intellectual levels - one person being thick and another person being clever - more about being fundamentally different. Assuming both are similar in private to how they are in public I just cannot in a million years imagine her wanting to listen to him droning on about poetry or having anything to say in return. And we know how much he knows about one of her passions, fashion (!!).
I miss happy Hiddleston with SF. I wasn't even following him back then, but he always looked happy and genuine.
>>115 Me too. Compare them to his sour expression yesterday. Even the superfans on celebitchy are asking why he didn't stand there smiling with his arm round his girl.
She is 26?! I thought she was his age, ehm talk about differences.
Out of curiosity I googled EO and her former fiancé, really her behaviour last night was so fake. there are so many pap photos of her with him and she never covered her face.
>>114 Maybe she will do a fashion Pygmalion on him and make him throw away these boots, which he seems determined to wear until they decompose.
Yes, you're right, I've chosen bad wording when I referred to the intellect. Still, his other GFs (that we know of) also did not strike me as those poetic, philosophical, thoughtful thinkers and conversationalists - i.e. his kind of smart. Maybe that's not what he's looking for in his GF. Or at least not the most important thing. IDK.
>>118 lol. Did she tear the plastic watch off him I wonder?
>117 Yes - different continent, different age, different intellectual interests. What they have in common is Marvwl, ISTL and being cute and famous.
and here is the oddest photo of all - from last night (same outfit) and can't have been on the way out to the theatre as it's dark. Getting into (?) his Jag as passenger looking thoroughly browned off. Where is he going? I can't parse this. It is all too weird.
>>120 After the compulsory PR stunt with EO he's finally free and heading to his true love - JA.
Eh, I probably shouldn't have drank all this wine.
>>120 I told you EO had her wallet in her hands on the cab. She paid her ride back to her hotel and he went back home from there.
She was in London while he was at SDCC, so she had to be staying in a hotel.
>>122 All that stress and no sexy time. That explains the expression. If they have been seeing each other since ISTL wouldn't he let her stay at his place even if he had to go off for a few days in the middle? Now even I smell a rat about this.
>>124 and since he is getting on as a passenger, when he was at the phone in the taxi he was very likely calling faisal to tell him to pick him up.
Here's a thought, in the video 2 cabs arrive, so it's possible they were leaving to go their separate ways, but then EO found a pap in her cab and they found themselves on the same taxi, and that's why he called for his jag.
btw, JA living just beside him and in front of G&W probably saw them together way before all of us. I say she was the bycycle's source haha
I watched the video and tbh I got a one that he can't care less a out her. The way he looked at her, while catching the cabs and turned away and then growled "come on" (I was expecting him to add "you fucker" lol so harsh was his voice) didn't leave a one of love - no, any affection there. And yes, they were leaving in separate cabs, but then SHE changed her mind and ran after him. Gals,it's her PR, now I can bet my life on it, and while he tried to pull it friendly, she tries all the time to make people believe it's something more. Tom was clearly getting into his cab when she ran o Dr, he just opened the door for her and even dint help her. Lol, poor PR, Olsen, you know, we have eyes too.
>>128 I didn't see that video this way. He didn't growl and IDK why there were two cabs, maybe they were planning to leave separately, but then she saw a pap and went with him, or maybe they were leaving together and then both saw a pap in the first cab and went for another one. It's not clear, but a got the impression that they were both near the 1st cab, she was beginning to step into it, but then for some reason he directs her/says to her to go to the 2nd one and then she goes after him.
I don't agree with you. I say what I see and I see that he is passed off with her and he does growl at her, just listen and watch carefully. Thats all what I say and I'm not trying to see things that don't exist.
And I'm surprised that everyone so easily believes they are dating. They don't have a vibe of people who are attracted to each other in romantically way, they just look to be good friends. That's all. If there is someone who wants to pass this for something more, it's Elizabeth Olsen herself, since its very clear that it's her, very American, or. You have to blind not to see it.
Sorry for mistypes, stupid phone thinks it knows better what I'm trying to say.
>>130 I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. I see no point in arguing because this whole thing is obviously based on a very subjective perception.
And, umm, I would refrain from calling people blind because they don't agree with your opinion. Not a good argument.
Well you can't see if he directs her or calls her, it's not in the video. And I too can hear him saying COME ON and being rather kissed of at her actions, so it's not that subjective.
I guess some people just want them to be together that's all. I don't see any romance between them, and it's not necessarily that he has to carry her, it's just the way he treats her. No love vibe, and totally no love doves.
Have no idea where my Twitter nickname came from, sorry!
Pretty sure he says "Lizzie" and she answers "Yeah" but hey, you wanna hear what you want * shrugs *
No, he even doesn't say her name.
Same applies to those who want them to date.
I thought there was a simpler explanation for her getting in the wrong cab. I assumed he called one on Hailo, hence was looking at his phone while waiting as it tells you the reg no and how close it is. Then he saw it had arrived, called her over, and she got into the wrong one. He tells her no it is this one and off they go. Surprisingly to my mind Torrilla pic suggests the cab took her to ? her hotel and he then got a private car home; I'd have assumed without that pic that the cab took them both to his home.
What I hear is:
>>137 Yes, very logical, I can see this version. I am not a Londoner so I don't know the specifics, but it crossed my mind that it could be just a mix with the cabs. You know, when several people call several cabs at a popular location at the same time and then there's a confusion which cab arrived for whom.
My theory is that they had a little something while on set - full blown sexual relationship, maybe; flirtation/ connection, absolutely. Whatever it was likely contributed to the breakdown of EO's engagement, not caused, just contributed. And no judgments - this happens sometimes.
>>139 You can set Hailo to pay automatically by credit card so you want to make sure you and not someone else is in your cab!
I don't care either who he is seeing. I like the work and find him interesting and alas am unable to look away from the car crash that is his romantic life as played out through his PR. An object lesson in how not to do it in my view. I also find interesting that odd place he occupies between tumblr/celebitchy obsessives, where he is king, and the real world where he is far from a household name. A career that could only exist in this decade. That makes PR surrounding his romantic life all the more tricky as all these 18yo girls really do care if he was screwing an engaged woman. I'm old enough to think that life is complicated and it's maybe better not to end up married to the wrong person.
Well I made several people watch that video and they all agree with me. I rewatched it on full sound and I simply can't ear things you do. So ten people can't be deaf, it clearly as I said.
I agree thy might have had one fling, but now it's clearly a cozy friendly relationship between two friends. Peiod.
They might have decided to go their separate ways - just for the night, not forever - in the cab. I do think they are in a real relationship of some sort or trying to be in one.
I mean, that pap experience isn't exactly the perfect segue into a romantic night back at his! Unless they're both giant masochists.
>>141 And a car crash it is! Which makes him even more interesting in my eyes :)
Agree, I'm also not the one to throw stones. Life is unpredictable and shit happens.
Since there seems to be new posters here, I take the occasion to remind everyone that while anonymous this site has mods.
>>142 Lex as a habit here we don't really argue, we all express an opinion, and if someone has something to object, comment or add they do so, but not to the point were you need the other person to forcibly agree with you. Nobody has to agree, or disagree with anyone else.
>>146 he was about to squeeze his eyes, wasn't he? Her face is precious.
I confess I didn't even noticed they talked, busy as I was at watching everything else :)
About the taxi, before the photo of his jag, I thought that cab was for someone else and EO just headed the wrong way, but if that taxi was for someone else where are the people that called it? So it could be either way, the real interesting thing is the jag photo that of course, because it says she is staying in hotel not at his place. Not that that rules out a relationship. it's just a nice detail for our guesswork.
I guess what happens next is what will tell us.
If they are seen together again, pap date or not, before red carpets, or on the red carpet they behave as a couple, then we'll our confirmation.
If they are not seen together, there's no statement confirming a relation and on the red carpet they behave just friendly, then we might declare this pap incident as EO trying to pull a JA by using her PR instead of social networks.
Strange that the person who sold the photos to the DM didn't think to tell them about the photo at the spa in Nola. That would have made the splash even bigger.
Maybe the other cab just showed up on spec for nobody in particular. In my experience standing on an empty street Hailo-ing a cab is the best way to make 3 other cabs appear while you're waiting.....!
I read people reported seeing TH on the tube before the play at the theatre, on twitter I suppose, so they met there. They truly are 2 different people.
>>153 the detail that doesn't convince me is that he goes straight for the taxi further away from the gate, as if to leave the nearest one to her, so that she could get away from paps as soon as possible.
I need to apologise for my harsh words, I'm just very emotional.
I'm ashamed of vanity fair. It seems all magazines have become yellow press, they just copy the articles from the most yellow magazines and then publish it. God... there is no normal thing to read any more.
All we need to do is wait, if TH is in on it, then we'll have other public outing and red carpet smooching. If not, we'll know whose PR it was.
And all we know after all this is what we already knew before - TH acts mysterious with the laydeez. Didn't someone once say he never gave JA a key and she always had to ring his bell - and they must have been together for a year. Plus the rather ungallant "nothing to write home about" when he was seen with her again 3 months later at the Donmar and therefore clearly was seeing her when he said that.
It must be lurve because he has upped his sartorial game compared to JA - he has bought a new Emporio Armani watch which cost as much as £120! Someone really needs to burn his entire casual wardrobe and show him the inside of Selfridges.
I like Tom's attitude towards clothes. He wears what he likes and seems he is attached to things. He is the way he is, in his old boots and jeans, he still is Tom. Plus this, the guy seems not to like or doesn't find it necessary to buy very expensive things, and I like that too. Its very down to earth behaviour in my opinion. Its better like that then like Ben or Beckham.
>>161 He seems to spend a lot on his formal gear. I do find the devotion to ancient cardigans etc quite endearing. Those boots tho. They must smell like a monkey's bum by now. Maybe EO stayed at a hotel because she couldn't stand the smell.
I took a closer look at the pic of TH getting into the car and it seems that :
1) this is not the driver side so he definitely did not drive the car
2) he's getting into the backseat
I thought that - but it looks like a pap-quality shot. If she was with him I feel sure they would have got a shot of her getting in and/or of them both in the back seat.
I only see one Jag pic on Torrilla (the one with the door in the foreground) - which ones do you mean?
>>166 Sorry, I looked at them yesterday so my memory is a little hazy. They're in the same photo group but he's walking towards the camera and I assumed the Jag, and she is walking in the other direction in the background.
guys the photo where they both there are the one with the taxi, with the jag he was alone. >>164 is right, if she had been there with him they would have took a photo. It would have made an even better headline. And remember that TH reached the theatre by tube, alone.
>>168 The tube sighting was before 5pm though, so I doubt that's when he headed to the theatre.
>>170 the elephant man starts at 19.30 but in theatre entrance is what, 1 hour in advance? Maybe he was going to meet EO at her hotel before heading to the theatre.
Help me out, I don't remember the sequence is theatre and then dinner or dinner right?
>>172 Tube, theatre, dinner, paparazzi pics after dinner, then Tom without her in the Jag.
Not to beat a dead horse, or cause more disagreement, but there is another vid, this one from Splash News, of the pap walk. Sorry, I don't know how to link. I saw it on Twitter - maybe a search for Splash will bring it up.
Even if he says "babe", there is nothing special. He calls his fans babe, darling and etc. For him it's a normal thing to address women like that.
Ah now I think I can hear him saying Lizzie, though I don't hear it in the video from daily mail. But obedient hear anything like babe and so on in this one.
All this is weird. Very weird. Seems.like they appeared just right in front of the paps, and we're walking apart from each other, and in this video I can see that she tried to get one cab, but then they changed their mind and got into his as if they tried to get rid of paps as soon as possible. I don't get the hiding by the fence thing, she acted rather stupid... all her actions seems.to be stupid. I'm.afraid she pulled JA, and will pay for that.
He says something else doesn't he? between the "by the kerb babe" and "cab is here"
>>182 to me it sounded like he said "I called 2" but I trust you on this, since I didn't even hear him the first time.
>>183 Actually, I'll trust you, because it's possible. He might have called two because they wanted to hedge their bets and get at least one, or so they could take separate ones. All speculation.
As to that final pic of him getting into a car, supposedly alone - I don't think it rules out entirely the possibility that they maybe met up later for hanky and/or panky. He very well could have joined her at her hotel, wishing to arrive separately - not wanting to get papped walking into her hotel together. Because that really would have broken Tumblr!
I do think it's odd that two people who are allegedly in a relationship and only in the same city for a brief period of time didn't spend the night together.
>>185 But if they were trying to keep it a secret, why go to a celebrity and paparazzi hot spot together two days after being photographed, when there are already rumors of a relationship? And then why the Us Weekly story, which is where EO releases her PR info? Not to mention Twitter sightings etc. It's not like tumblr wasn't aware of them possibly being a couple.
>>186 As I said in my post, they might have met up again later after going their separate ways. Also, they may be spending more than a little time together, we don't know what their schedules look like - they may have plenty of time to spend some 'quality time' together. Wink, wink!
>>187 Well, being papped coming from dinner says, yep, we're going out, we like each other, we've connected.
Going directly to her hotel says, we are hitting each other hard!
>>189 True, but Tom's not exactly known for keeping that kind of thing a secret. He took Jane Arthy on a tropical vacation, and there are doubts as to how serious that relationship even was.
Also keep in mind there's already been a story in Us about them "hooking up" recently, so if it's true that they are sleeping together it wouldn't be news to anyone.
>>190 You're right, Anonsy. But that vacation was documented with a shot of him at the airport, and then one of them with some chefs at the restaurant. Of course, they were staying in the same room, and we all know what they were doing in that room. But an airport and restaurant pic are tame compared to a pic of them going into a hotel together after dinner.
Anon forgive if I'm.wrong, you seem to be too much invested in proving that TH and EO are a thing. You remind of someone from nw3 blog.
>>192 I'm not, really. I genuinely don't know if they are in a relationship or not, and then I don't know what type of relationship it may be - there are so many types!
I know about NW3, but I'm not on Tumblr. I post here and lurk at LSA.
I don't love gossips, lol, they make me panic.
I'm sure that he isn't in a relationship, it smells like a heavy American PR to me, from her side. It won't last long though. I have the same gut feeling as I had with JA, though I don't remember any heavy drama about her, or I just didn't care... I don't like EO a lot, she is Olsen, Olsens can't be good.
Just thought back to the Chiltern Firehouse "I am not dating JA" pap walk, also very shortly after Twitter explosion when spotted with new woman. He may not have set this one up but it cannot remotely have been a surprise to him that it happened.
>>195 Did he do a pap walk at Chiltern? I'm newish - this year - to TH.
I'm a little sad that I missed the whole JA relationship. The boards must have been EPIC!
I confess that I know nothing about EO's PR (e.g., that US Weekly is their mag of choice) or about PR in general, but I still think that if it's PR, even if it's her PR, he is fully in on it and if not encourages, at least does not object to it. If he wanted to keep everything under wraps, why would he go to that restaurant instead of choosing a quieter place? He's a Londoner, he must've known it's pap-friendly.
Yes, yes, the stone face! Have never seen him like that before. He was very angry and as I understood from his look at EO he was rather irritated at her behavior when she was pretending oh ah to be such a victim. But he is brought up to good to be rude with a woman, so I kinda understand why he addressed her calmly. But without any tenderness a man would have to bis beloved. We've seen him in love, and we know how he acts... in any ways, WhAt I saw water friends and one.if them acting very stupid.
Why donyoubthinknit it was him.who chose the place? EO has been in London enough Times to suggest. She doesn't have a stone face. Tom is rather angry. Say whatever you want but they dint have a vibe of lovers. And perhaps he realized it was a pr from her just when it happened? I doubt he needs this pr, he knows how Wil it damage his reputation.
>>199 If he didn't want to go, he could've refused. You go to a pap-friendly place - there's a very big chance you'll get papped. There's no way he did not know that.
I am not going to argue about love vibes, seems pointless. It's like when everyone at CB was analysing early photos of BC and his wife saying there's no way they are together, they have no vibe, they are not looking at each other, etc., and we all know how that ended.
Well lets say that if they didn't want to go public with their relationship, they wouldn't have chosen to make two relatively high profile appearances almost 24 hours after that first blurry picture went on the bicycle site.
Oh well yes seems like you, qaz, are pretty sure and want them.to be together, but it's not. Tom is not Ben, so there is not need to hint on that.
Tom would 've head different expression of he was happy with this. And paps could been called to any place if you give them direction. Its EO PR team chasing him. God, I wish this woman could go and fins herself a proper american actor with all her American PR jumps.
I don't know why people are still saying that he wraps his hand around her neck in the first photo that Toby put pushed. I know Toby and her shitty sources that would gladly troll everyone because they hate Tom so much... He isn't wrapping his hand, He put his hand on her shoulder and I think we all know bow touchy he is And by the moment of Elizabeth's elbow I can say that a) she was friendly punching him and getting rid of him b) wrapping her hand around his waist. But since we didn't get the next movement photo, I'm sure she didn't wrap her hand on his waist, otherwise Toby's photographer would gladly make another photo, so y the weirdness of the cropped photos and the lack of the details, I can say it's a friendly banter. We all have male friends, and a lot of my friends put their hands on my shoulder when they make a joke or anything... knowing the Toby's nasty sources I can bet my life that we were shown what they wanted us to see, otherwise why crop? Why only one moment? They wanted us to see IT and nothing else.
This article says they have been dating since the film shot last year. Hmmm, could be the author going on a quick search, or could be info. that the PR for the film is releasing.
Goodness so we have two Anon and now two anonymous (on of them being me haha it's getting complicated :)
>>195 you are referring to the papa photos with Lara Pulver i suppose? I know a lot of people take that as his PR but it wasn't. Lara Pulver, who was at the time in a relationship with another actor (she might still be I don't know) is very good friends with Murray, they were tweeting before the Wimbledon final that year, so that she was there going to his victory party wasn't really for the benefit of doing a favour to TH. TH was also there for the same reason, the odd thing was that he didn't brought JA.
>>204 it does sound like an article written by a fan of cinema more than from a journalist with sources. Anyway, as I've been saying from the beginning, no matter what, people will think they have been hooking up while she was engaged, so this is a PR disaster for TH.
>>207 But then it's also a PR disaster for her, i.e. she's the one who supposedly was cheating while still engaged. Yet, many people seem to think that it's her PR. Which leads me to a conclusion that I don't understand PR at all, lol.
Can I just (I hope in a nice way) repeat >>147?
Lex, you've now accused 2 people of holding a view because they "want" TH to be in a relationship.. That's a way of belittling a person's opinion because you are saying on some level it isn't rationally held.
>>208 absolutely, I mention him since this thread is about him. To be honest I also believe that the fancy restaurant was her choice, that's why I don't get her behaviour. TH seems to take it as a obvious consequence but her "do not look at me I'm not here" makes little sense. Nothing makes sense! lol
a timeline courtesy of someone at CB. Is something missing?
So, we can all agree that nothing makes sense!
Maybe all PR is good PR? It's the world's most simple Ven diagram?!
>>206 I did mean the LP thing. I didn't mean it was set up for PR, more that he seemed aware that after the twitter storm he was bound to be papped and that attending without JA would send a particular message. Likewise here a night out after the recent twitterstorm would equally send a message and he would know that. I am sure he was complicit but equally I am not sure he liked the outcome much - probably wishes he had stayed with his previous rather chaotic MO. I do get the impression American PR is much more interventionalist, wanting to "get news out there" to control is release even if (as we all think) it is bad news!
>>211 I'm not on Twitter, but people were mentioning tweets from the Tube and even from inside The Wolseley, one from someone sat next to them, yet never linked to them, so I'm not sure if those exist.
And it could be that if they both took the Tube...well, they wouldn't be together, she would be in the carriage behind his with a purse over her face.
It's like the expression, "There's no such thing as bad publicity." People are certainly talking about them and I Saw the Light, which is probably exactly what whoever orchestrated all this wanted. The fact that none of it makes sense and he went home alone makes me more inclined to think it's a very casual relationship, or they're just friends and it's all for PR. It doesn't seem to fit with a full-blown relationship.
Do you think one of them might have had tickets for theatre in advance? So going to theatre was something decided before the first 2 pics. Restaurant of course is another matter altogether.
>>214 hahaha Just the image of her using such a commoner means of transportation like the tube is enough to make me laugh, but the addition of the purse is lovely.
It's funny how EO had a skirt incident in Paris, showing all her delicates to the world but she laughed it off, and here she was in a frenzy for photos of her face.
>>215 VF certainly bought it! They published that article straight after the pics and said something like "of course even more interesting if they are together". And this way even with the "hooking up" is a lot better than a "TH broke up EO engagement" splash in the tabloids.
see, she can handle paps when she wants
Someone on CB said she pulled the same stunt when seen with Chris Evans leaving a club in April, bag over face etc. haven't seen any pics. But seemingly a selective approach to being papped. What do I know, maybe it's worse in the dark to have all that flash. Still feels fake though.
The message idea is interesting but I think it's not valid, because if the behaviour. Their behaviour is strange, and his first of all. She totally tried to pulled a victim so the paps could snap him protecting her but instead she got cold, irritated behaviour from Tom, though he was too gentleman to leave her behind and got her a cab. In the second video it's clear that she rushed after him in the second car so they could leave together, and it wasn't what he wanted,,, otherwise once in the car he would have acted differently with her.
I've just read EO really loves Swift and all. Worst case scenario, we might end up with EO writing a song about TH, or have her friend Swift writing one for her, title "Nothing makes sense"
>>220 considering that her people, or her, can't even feed the story right to usweekly, they took the cab leaving a restaurant not on their way to theatre, that it feels fake makes sense. Yes! Something that makes sense :)
Saw this over at LSA. Could be from an insider, could be from an angry fan.
looks like we're not the only ones to go "eh?" when we look at how the publicity has been "managed" here....
>>224 I tend not to put much stock in those blind item websites. There were several people bragging on tumblr last month about making up completely fake gossip and getting it published. I agree that the one about Tom and Elizabeth does sound kind of hostile, and there isn't any new information in it, so I'm going to go with angry fan submission or the website itself doing a "let's post a very believable non-disprovable story to boost our own credibility" move. I think a real insider would have given some details other than the ones the general public has already heard or speculated.
>>227 I agree nothing more factually than jumping to an obvious conclusion that they will presumably never admit to. I was just interested that others think it has been badly handled - it's not that we just don't understand how PR works.
>>228 Yes! I feel the same way. Sometimes I start to wonder if it's just me lol. It's nice to know we're not the only ones who think something weird is going on there.
The old "never explain never apologise" seems to be right out of fashion. No, let's positively draw attention to "getting close" (cough, shagging) on set and also make it sound like cheating to get casual sex by talking about "hooking up." I still maintain there would have been so much less to talk about had they said nothing in May and then appeared together now.
>>230 You're probably right. I don't know, it's just one big PR mess to me. Can't seem to get my mind around it in any scenario. If it's a fake relationship - doesn't make sense. If it's real and serious - doesn't make sense. If it's real and casual - doesn't make sense. Ugh.
I wonder if this can all be explained with one word:
>>232 HAHA oh Luke. I'd like to hope he's better than all this.
Always wondered about the business sense of that particular relationship given they are apparently good mates. Too close for objectivity on eithe side. Maybe better with someone else as boss to oversee decisions but now - how can he suggest or TH easily accept tough decisions? (like, don't do what she tells you about PR)
Sorry I mean Luke may have been a better publicist to TH when he had a boss in that larger firm.
Some more photos from TNM set
Indeed it is a PR mess. With JA after all, unless you were a fan or an ELLEUK's journalist, aside from Wimbledon's photo nothing else made it to the public, so he got away with only a couple of questions.
Now he has 3 films to promote, meaning a very long PR season, from sept. to March at least. He won't be able to elude questions. Whether this with EO was nothing more than friends hanging out or true love with no engagement overlapping, or just PR, only matters to his fans, to the general public what happened is that she was engaged, she made a film with TH, engagement was broken, TH and EO are dating with an Oscar-bait film, so add the PR element. The more they wait to address this, the worst is going to look.
I don't see CP, ISTL or HR in neither gala presentations and special presentations. Are there other categories?
Apparently, TIFF can and does add films throughout the time following the first announcement, so maybe it will show up.
>>240 That's what I've heard, can't confirm myself, but there's hope.
>>241 no you are right, it's been 2 years since I followed TIFF for OLLA and I didn't remember this detail. My "Hmm" was because if it's ok for a film like OLLA to not appear right away, it's odd for a supposedly Oscar contender like ISTL - HR I wasn't really expecting it, CP I'm sure it will appear later.
On an unrelated note: Apple Pie is back and very, very unhappy.
There is no way on the planet that this person knows Tom or is his neighbour without an intervention order being present.
Will anyone provide a quick summary of Apple Pie - like I said, I'm new.
"Fan" who tweeted that she knew for certain (possibly even bet her life) that Tom was not going out with Lizzie. When challenged, she shot back that she knew him and was a neighbour.
Turns out not to be true. S/he is now tweeting abuse about EO (predictable).
And why do YOU are so invested what THIS person tweets? And who she is? You never know.
I think that she often posts on other boards.
I do not know her, but I hope that she, in time, also moves on with her life.
Ah! and the tweets are protected again.
The Venice Film Festival announced its line-up, it's complete.
No HR, no ISTL, no CP, but I wasn't really expecting this last.
Yes, BFI we get it that HR will be at your festival. I was just hoping it will appear elsewhere before that. article at page 16
"I HAVE JUST SEEN TOM HIDDLESTON IN THE FLESH HE WAS LITERALLY THREE FEET AWAY FROM ME OH MY DAYS"
"I was getting my visa in London and so was he"
"Barbera: Crimson Peak è bellissimo, ma la Legendary non vuole mandarlo in nessun festival. #Venezia72"
I forgot to add yesterday that what I wrote here >>237 only stands if the couple or PR speculations are true.
Oh looks like Skull Island is happening... they had to kick off in August, right? Can't wait!
Such a good news about BFI and High Rise! I nearly lost hope to.see it. That means we will see Tom presented?
>>254 depends which source you consider. According to a site we posted in the other thread, Kong is supposed to start in Sept. in LA/Hawaii. According to the latest article about Kong and the new casting the script isn't ready and it won't start until the end of the year/early next year. Still, one can do a renewal of his working visa ahead of time I think.
Oh ok, I lost the track for the info. He will need a working visA, especially if he will work there for Skull Island and Marvel stuff... I still think it's his working hours coming closer.
I wonder if he will fall out from Skull Island. When is Marvel movie happening?
>>255 I think you're correct. If he's getting his visa that means filming dates have probably been set, as I believe you need to provide travel dates when applying for a work visa, so that would be good news for the production.
>>258 I wondered about that too, but I'm not a working visa expert for the US. For example, when he was in SDCC he was working, did he have a specific visa for that occasion or is there a, I don't know, year long visa that you merely need to renew, so specific dates won't be needed?
Ok.I asked the person who knows stuff a out working visas in US, and she said when you have no more then three days of working you can go by tourist visa, but if it's longer, you need to apply far before hand. And they are incredibly hard to get and it doesn't matter are you a general mortal or Tom. So it makes sense if he is applying now.
I just looked through some government websites and it seems like what Tom did for SDCC would count as a "business trip" and would therefore be exempt from visa requirements (citizens of certain countries including UK are exempt for that sort of travel), but filming a movie would require a work visa.
Anonsy, yes you are right, that's what I was told. Everything that is more then a week, goes for working visA. Plus this, it's necessary for an employee to sent you an invitation, so you DO need to provide a exact date of travel and working days.
I'm so careless, I didn't post the translation of this >>252
It says that "CP is beautiful but that Legendary doesn't want to send it to any festival."
>>252 So my italian is fully based on my latin, but that tweet seems to suggest that CZ will not show at Venice.
Hollywood Elsewhere published an article about Tom and ISTL. The article is strange and the author says "EO and TH have been in relationship since shooting",which I found rather nasty, because even after the fiasco nearly a week ago no one confirmed anything. I wish people stop assuming that they are dating.
I think we dismissed that article when it was linked. However, someone over at LSA says that the author used to write for People, EW, and the LA Times, and that he has very good sources.
I think this tea kettle has been boiling since they filmed.
>>269 I know I dismissed because it was mostly a rehashing of tweets that we had already seen. It was also written after the paparazzi pics and both Us Weekly articles, so "in a relationship since shooting" was already commonly believed and reported on the internet.
>>269 I'll agree with 'commonly believed' on the internet, but has it been 'reported' on the internet?
That's certainly not the story they're putting out, is it - together since filming? That story seems to be:
what did I say when she didn't delete her blog?
>>272 I missed NW3 the first time around, so it will be interesting to see her in action.
I am surprised she has managed to stay away this long.
>>272 Take what she says with a severe pinch of salt. Look at the posts on the last thread....
Oh no not that liar again... and I thought she decided to stop. And yes, you are right, you have to take everything she says with a large pinch of salt, she likes to change her answers and delete those that can easily show she is lying. I was following her log for a long time and I remeber what she was doing.
About the VISA - yes, I'm so bored that the VISA thing is the most interesting thing I can post, mainly because I hope he'll drop out of this film - a couple of posters at CB wrote this:
"a US work visa, an O/1 you need to go for an interview at the US embassy. They're initially issued for 3 yrs then need to be renewed annually."
According to the latest news, Russel Crowe joined the Skull Island, as well as the lady, Brie something. Tom really wants that project so he won't drop out.
And he renewed his visa for Skull Island I'm sure. And he'd better dropped out from ISTL when he had a chance. Skull Island is nothing bad btw.
As far as his choices go, I think he's ticking off some boxes at this point in his career, perhaps trying to show his range and find his "best" type of role. I know he says that he follows his gut/heart when selecting roles; well, he's got a brain, I'm sure he follows that too.
Nothing is going on in his private life. He and EO are just friends.
And I can bet that ISTL will be a failure, or at least not that good movie to be noticed. I'm certain that this choice was a mistake for him, he overdid it.
>>280 Don't forget military man in War Horse. :-) Definitely checking off the boxes.
>>272 That woman was caught in so many lies, I wouldn't believe anything she says. I don't look at the tumblr blogs anymore, I couldn't handle the drama lol. If anything interesting or important happens over there, I figure someone here will fill me in.
>>280 yes, that's really what bothers me with Kong, the fact that the script has been rewritten many times, that clearly director and production don't go along, the change in location, many bad signs. I'd like TH to go on with his good film streak (even in The Deep Blue Sea wasn't exceptional). About ISTL I read that they tweeted this week that they were editing or doing some post-production work. Maybe after the test screenings they decided to make some changes? And HR hasn't a trailer out yet, worried about that one too!
>>283 Maybe we're all sniffing around the wrong trash can!
We're all EO, paps and gossip when we should be worried that some of his upcoming films seem to be a little undercooked?
>>284 That's the REAL reason for all of the sudden love life gossip - to distract us from how his future projects aren't looking too good.
I have such high hopes of HR - great novel, director and cast.
I've had a bad feeling about ISTL for a while. I loved Walk the Line but I do feel ISTL will struggle to live up to that, not least in its lightness of touch. ISTL sounds so flipping earnest and trying so hard to be profound and moving (and to win things...). The hallmarks of a well-meaning flop I fear. I just love going to the cinema and being pleasantly surprised, like wow, that little low budget labour of love and it was amazing. They have killed that feeling right out of the gate with all the advance publicity. Now if it isn't amazing we'll feel cheated. It makes it look like it was a project created to get an Oscar nomination. I'm sure it wasn't but that's how it feels, to me anyway.
>>286 I hope ISTL works, I really do. With everything he seemed to put into it, I think his itty, bitty heart will break if it's not received well. I don't even think he'd be happy with his performance being praised, he wants the whole movie to be.
I honestly don't care much about I Saw the Light - it just doesn't interest me. Perhaps I'll rent it eventually, only because I enjoy Tom's work. I've been excited for Crimson Peak for a long while though, and I am looking forward to High Rise as well.
>>288 Same here. Only I probably will not even rent it, it's just so not my cup of tea - unless it gets really glowing reviews, maybe then it'll pique my curiosity.
Same as I still haven't seen War Horse - I don't like movies about wars and don't like movies about animals, so Tom or no Tom, Spielberg or no Spielberg, there's no chance I'm seeing something called War Horse, lol.
>>287 Oh god I am sure he will be heartbroken if it bombs. Can't see the new relationship lasting if the reviews are bad either - it's one thing to fall in passionate star-crossed lurve on the amazeballs project of a lifetime. Quite another to shag someone else's bird while polishing a well meaning turd. He could soon be living in a hell of his own devising. I do really hope not but, held back by the script - oh noes....
>>288 yeah I don't care much about ISTL either, I said so from the start, but I still hope for him that it will at least be a good film; though I agree that this initial burst of publicity, intentional or fortuitous, doesn't make you want to support it one bit. I'm happy that the Venice Film Festival director said that CP is beautiful and sounded very disappointed they couldn't have it at the festival, at least one film I'm sure it's good.
>>291 Nor me if I'm honest. Nor seemingly a lot of TH fans. and HW has a lot of crazy fans seemingly who are not necessarily well disposed towards it or him. Another reason for my ominous feelings about it. I do hope I am wrong.
A girl on twitter posted an image of an article on Star Magazine talking about TH and EO. I couldn't find the tweet with the image, but I read that this magazine is rag of rags, so yeah for TH, for a guy who talked big about reputation, decency, truthfulness and so on, he is achieving some great results here, maybe that's why he looked so utterly annoyed in the taxi. Somewhere Laurence Fox is having a laugh.
found an image, courtesy of the bycycle site. the only reason this sites are useful: links.
Star Magazine is one tiny rung up from the tabs with alien and Elvis stories. Poor guy.
Now I feel he should get an Oscar just for the pap fiasco and having to appear in Star.
"Tom's not the sort to go for someone else's girl, so he waited until he heard her relationship was over." That's some nice damage control there. I couldn't be rolling my eyes any harder.
>>295 that's what I'm starting to wonder about, is it realistic for TH's PR to handle it so badly? It seemed to me that after the circus bear label in 2013 he tried to highlight that he was also serious about his job and not a clown. Will he really plan to throw that away to get this?
"The he called her that very day"
>>298 I mean really though. Who calls someone up the day they get out of a three year long relationship? And the whole write up is so cheesy and sappy, like they're trying to make it sound like a Nicholas Sparks novel. Ugh.
(No offense intended to anyone who reads Sparks - I just always think of him when I hear about gooey romance)
>>296 Classy save there. Also, "they spend every second together". Since December, even if we believe every nw3 rumour going, they have spent what? 2 weeks together in total?
I mean I have had pairs of tights I have had a more longstanding relationship with...
>>302 How reliable even are these "sources" anyway? Like will Star publish quotes that are completely made up or do they actually have to come from somewhere? Could I call them up right now claiming to be a source and get information published?
>>299 Possibly someone who was already screwing the person who just got out of a 3 year relationship? Just a thought.
>>305 Yeah. No matter what they do this still looks bad. But I guess people will still believe what they read? Maybe people who haven't been following either of their careers too closely.
>>304 Who knows but I guess the point is the story is out there now and even if the sources are fake everyone is all over the one interesting angle - the possible overlap. Thy have lost control of the story. I understand this is the opposite of what PR wants to achieve.
>>306 I am not so sure. I think if I read sparks flew on set and he called the day after her engagement ended I'd think "yeah right". It's a story as old as the film industry.
Time for TH to start telling us all about Hamlet and Gertrude screwing Polonius before Old Hamlet was cold.
There's only one version of events where this silence makes sense, where it makes sense to not respond and wait for an official occasion, like a festival, to address this. But it's the version that at the moment sounds even less likely than the rest, to become more credible, to be considered true, it needs time to pass without any sighting of them together in any form.
>>308 exactly, especially to the general public, who is the majority.
>>310 and really time needed to pass between January and now without any mention of anything to make their version credible. Which it didn't cos of the U.S. weekly "hooking up" story.
>>312 Which again just adds to the long, long list of reasons none of this makes any sense.
>>312 oh that, I don't think that was intentional since he was away filming haha. The version I'm thinking about is that they are just friends, this is the less likely right now. If they are a couple, passing of time now makes it worse, because it allows rags like star to make up stories that only do damage.
>>314 Either they are just friends, or they need to fire their PR. Maybe fire the PR regardless, lol.
"a close pal of the Avengers star 34"
I haven't noticed the age this morning, I thought they were talking of a source near EO, instead the "close pal" is TH's
Close pals: his sisters, Cumberbatch, Olly,Luke...........Hemsworth? lol
What a ridiculous article.
Celebitchy is stalking us!! We have better quality comment though...
Article: TH is NOT a homewrecker.
Read: TH is TOTALLY a homewreaker.
>>319 Yeah, the PR was just kind of pathetic before, but at least now it's so awful it's funny.
"An additional informant tells the magazine, Olsen was seen hanging out with Hiddleston in England last week both strolling the streets of Oxford arm-in-arm and going to see Bradley Cooper play The Elephant Man in London together:"
>>321 Just when I thought the story couldn't possibly get any more convoluted! Goodness me.
Like, you know as soon as she broke off the engagement she called TH and said "Hey we can f**k now" No more just stolen kisses and making out!" goodness.
Every time I see the bit with EO trying to start a relationship with the gate by watching it through her scarf, and then asking where her guardian, I mean TH, is, I realise how farcical this pap hoopla was. Splash video is even better for that.
>>321 Ahahahaha. As if it was not messy enough, they managed to incorporate Chris Evans as the FOURTH party of this lurve story, lol.
Lol and nobody even thinks that they even haven't been in Oxford, and the photo was taken EnGland's lane
it's a train wreck, I feel sorry for Luke.
Bit of a long post but I've just read at CB someone pointing out that you can tell that this was a set-up because there was no follow up by paps.
Anything is possible of course, but I tend to disagree.
I don't think she is in London.
In fact, I'm sure it was a friends meeting each other before she left. She was in London when Tom was there too, before he went to SDCC and they hadn't met each other other wise we would've known. Maybe they just met in cafe to chat and decided to go to theatre, and then to have a dinner. I'm pretty sure she was the one who chose that restaurant and I'm also sure that the paps were arranged by her or her team. As well as all other articles. That's why Tom was that angry.
>>328 Theatre going is a pap-free activity in London because too many theatres for them to stake out and even if people tweet you're there, loads of exits and a big crowd leaving together, so hard to get your target.
Pap-friendly restaurants don't have crowds of paps waiting to take your pic when you go in - they get them when you come out (target usually drunk and it's dark so a more dramatic picture). It's always x leaving the Chiltern Firehouse. Also of course you have to hang around on spec to catch someone going in; you may get a tip-off while they are there so you can more easily catch them going out.
Maybe our friendly neighbourhood stalker nw3anon will tell us if EO is still in town, now she is showing signs of life again.
>>330 I have only seen tweets about them being at the theatre, not the restaurant, but like you say someone at the restaurant might have tipped the paps off.
>>331 I doubt it, she is already claiming she knows nothing of what is going on, and that there are no paps in the area.
>333 Simultaneously with saying that she has seen them around together!
there's also the fact that UK media is hardly covering this story, but it's being covered by US media. I wonder if Luke had a call with the UK ones telling them something.
>>334 but that is like saying EO wears flip-flops :)
really, it's hard to see how this might be TH's PR, none of this helps his image or the promotion of ISTL.
The story of the damsel in distress, confused by 2 guys fighting for her love, allows EO to get away with her image clean, but the other guy always takes the blame.
>>336 That's my point exactly! She says I know naaahthing simultaneously with dropping baity info which is (a) unverifiable or (b) can be ascertained from photos (he looks so tanned and amazing!) or (c) unverifiable but probable. Which is exactly what she has always done.
Star made up the story about EO and Renner though. I highly doubt this story was fed by one of their PR.
I don't think this is Luke because although he is good at getting TH on the red carpet or working with UNICEF, he is shit at reacting to stories he didn't create (JA) and advises TH badly about reacting to stories. Seemingly nobody has told TH to say in interviews "sorry I'd prefer not to discuss that", leading to the boring but familiar "X made clear early in our interview that his love life was off limits in our conversation." I also don't think UK publicists generally deal proactively with love life complications - the impression I get is that the U.S. publicists leak like sieves to People etc to try and get their side out there before the papers get it.
The only one who benefits from that story is Olsen. It's her set up and her PR, Tom has nothing to do with it. Of course he was angry with her, especially when she followed him in his cab.
>>340 yes when I talk of nw3anon I am always being sarcastic. I posted on the last thread how she falsely said TH windows were not visible from the road. They are, so info about him being in residence may be no more than seeing his lights on, not seeing him or having the inside line as she insinuates.
I need a name other than Anon I think!
>>343 How one can but be sarcastic about that blog? :)
>>341 Luke only did it once, or maybe it was Public Eye since they were both with PE at the time. When TH confirmed in a DM article that he broke up with SF, the day after SF went public with her current bf Oliver Chris at the All New People after party.
I wrote "he broke off" but it should have been "they". Come to think of it, I read, so I don't know if it's true, TH's fans gave SF a lot of flak for dumping TH over a new bf and possibly cheated on him. And they weren't even engaged.
>>339 you mean the Star's article about TH&EO? I agree, it's such a silly piece I doubt in that case any PR was involved. Not sure about the rest of the US outlets.
According to this CB's poster, EO's fiancé was in Shreveport to spend Thanksgiving with her; the spa TH and EO went was shut down for giving sex services, haha
Lol. I did think that the pictures didn't make it look the most refined of establishments.
>>328 I think so much of what you wrote here could be used to support an argument that it was staged.
Yeah, she was papped during the AoU press tour, but she was associated with all of those stars and that big promotion push/tour. She was papped places with other really big names.
>>324 Hahaha - trying to start a romance with the gate. Now, that's a story her people should leak to US Weekly.
Renner, Hiddleston, Evans, Hiddleston, Gate, Scarf - this girl is going through the gears!
I think she's still there, because I genuinely think they are in a relationship, or trying to give one a go with the free time that they usually don't have.
"so you said ISTL is mainly a story about a bad marriage, you know something about homewrecking don't you?"
>>341 "the impression I get is that the U.S. publicists leak like sieves to People etc to try and get their side out there before the papers get it."
I agree. I think this is the MO for a lot of publicists - on either side of the Atlantic. And the fact that US Weekly and Just Jared seemed to get the exclusives - they had the shots and articles up only a matter of minutes after the TH, EO, Gate/Scarf (Credit to anonymous1) love triangle played out - makes me think that her PR might be running it.
>>351 I'm aware it could be read both ways, that's why we do all this guesswork. I was using those as possible reasons for the lack of follow-up by the paps. Of course it might be her, his, their PR told the media to back off because they will have something more juicy in the following weeks, but that smells too much of conspiracy theory for me.
Development, now the spa that closed was another haha
>>356 I totally agree. It's all so subjective.
I think we should take bets on whether this relationship will outlast this post page, I mean it's a long way to 1000!!
A gem from the celeitchy comments thread in TH context of a discussion about how famous TH actually is in the grander scheme of things: "I don’t know why the press would care for the king of the ferrets and his big sized version of Ashley Olsen having sex." So evil but I really did rofl!
I'll just leave this here...
And truly I am beginning to think that the Ferret King has made himself look like a right prat.
Wow. If he was hoping for an image boost from this... I don't think he's going to get one.
Giving the lie to the theory that all publicity is good publicity.
All hail the Ferret King, Duke of PR, Baron of the Pap Walk, Lord of Broken Engagements. Hurrah! Hurrah!
But not surprising, only at CB they will trouble checking when glamour was put into publishing and all that stuff. The general public and media will run with this.
If this is actually a thing. And if it is, wouldn't have been better to stroll out of the restaurant hand in hand or arm in arm instead of giving that panic attack show?
>>364 lol it was probaly better to be called a circus bear uh.
to conclude the riveting saga of the spa, because one can't even say that a spa was closed for offering sex services without giving proof, the original weibo page that posted the photos was the spa's weibo page. That user doesn't exist anymore on Weibo. The website for the spa - that you can find mentioned in this tweet - twitter. com/isawthelightru/status/542695286720954368 - is down.
>>368 That's the same woman. Face shape and eyebrows match.
And you omitted Lord High Keeper of the Morals of the Alley Cat....
>>371 We should also add Patron Saint of Illegal Sex Spas.
I thought of something about TH having Faisal to pick him on his Jaguar. It was past midnight when they took the cab, and I doubt Faisal lives in the NW3 nor that he is on alert 24/7, so the fact that TH didn't have to wait for his car, might mean that Faisal already knew that he would have to pick him up later that night. Yes, it's irrelevant in the big scheme of things, it was just a random idea.
Then can we call Olsen her Ladyship of gates and scarves?
>>372 Now I understand how it all came about. "Shit, the sex spa has closed down. Where will I get my happy endings now?" [looks around, eyes light on EO]
A couple more unrelated gems from the latest celebitchhy thread:
1) poster identifies with the difficulty of breaking off engagement because she had an incestuous affair with her uncle !!!!!!!!
>>374 That's the Lady Purse-Face to you, thank you very much.
>>375 You may be closer to the truth than you think!!
>>379 hahaha! I wonder if they are at his place even as we speak making little ferret babies. Or is he googling himself and screaming "f*cking hell those bitches are calling me the King of the Ferrets and the Lord of Cheating"...???
>>380 Tommy's a big boy, he will own his new titles because he's earned them.
PS - He was spotted this morning in the company of a tall brunette - always trying to throw us off of the scent, Hiddles, you little bugger.
is the source NW3 anon?
No, twitter. But that's always six and 1/2 dozen of another, isn't it.
Wow I simply don't know what to say.
You became so venomous that I feel I will vomit soon.
First of all be kind to post a link to the tweet, otherwise you rent better then Toby who's branch this thread will be very soon a I can see.
Second of all, does it surprise you that Tom has female friends? Finds as any other human being would have with whom he has a right to go and have a walk and etc. Including Olsen. Or you live in a ancient society where men aren't allowed to have female friends?
And I've choked whole Hiddleston tag on Twitter and there is nothing.
I mean checked (not chocked)
Found it, the girl who saw him is @TheCMArthur, and she took a pic.
twitter . com/thecmarthur/status/627765169809174529
>>385 Lex, once again, I ask you to not insult people just because they wrote something you disagree with. Yes, they are making fun of TH, maybe even over the line, the situation provided material for it. But if it's not to your taste, very simply do not engage and skip the post.
Ooh, has he dyed his hair? Or is it just the light?
>>391 probably the light, even in those now infamous photos the DM recycled his hair looked darker.
>>391 I think it's the lighting, it looks like there's still that extra bit of blond in the front. Hard to tell though.
>>385 Ahhh, there's no need for vomit. Calm down.
And 'venomous,' really? We were having a little fun with the situation. I know I still love the little tyke, how could you not! But this is all a little messy, and therefore ripe for harmless jokes. In truth, I don't think he looks like a ferret, nor do I think he took advantage of the extra services on offer at the spa...that's what EO was/is for...kidding (not kidding).
Wow, that lady's tall.
>> 388 Thanks for posting - I saw it this morning and didn't really think to post it here. I will remember to in future.
Well, Anon, it seems like you desperately want to believe that he fucks every day and doesn't matter with whom. You will be surprised but he doesn't, nor he fucked Olsen or any of his co stars (KD was perhaps an exception) . But I'm.not going to waste my time on proving things you don't want to see and won't believe any ways. I'm just surprised and slightly upset that there are people like you that are YES venomous and vein. I would say "get life" but you won't any ways.
Just consider yourself lucky we didn't get onto the subject of the large and lively ferret he seems to keep down his trousers....
Seriously though, we are all very fond of TH or we wouldn't be here chatting on a Sunday evening. But we do poke fun at his foibles in a lighthearted and sometimes slightly naughty way - without judgment from other posters. That was a part of this message board long before I arrived and I hope it will continue to be so.
>>397 Don't go away, Lex, really. Certainly not because of me.
It's a board for all things HIddles - including gossip and jokes. It's all harmless fun. If you don't take anything too seriously or take anything to heart, it's fine.
>>399 No, I am Spartacus. I found the comment about the F***** K*** on celebitchy last night and posted it here after one glass of wine too many.
(Stands up) I am Spartacus!
Anon WITH dot, I consider my self lucky for various better reasons, unlike you clearly. Trying to troll? Keep on going.
Anon without dot, it's not fun for me, that's the way I am. I consider those jokes to be cruel and unfair, ffor many reasons I won't name. All I can say he doesn't date Olsen, nor he ever anything with her, and it's all her who made the uses to get some fame, so he doesnt deserve all this SHIT that comes his way.
This message board originated as a development of Datalounge threads of sorts, when the locals there became aggravated about multiple TH topics and someone suggested we move here.
So yeah, the intention was exactly this - anonymous gossip, speculation and (sometimes naughty) poking fun, not fawning over his every move, although we obviously like him here - otherwise why waste all this time discussing.
>>403 That's the growing up with two sisters. I've known guys who are only male children with sisters. They just tend towards having more female friends than not.
It's the same when there's only one girl and she has several brothers - they tend to have more male friends than female.
Well Olly goes to the coffee shop with him and they had a date at Wimbledon. Maybe EO is 2015's Lara Pulver!
He has good male friends too : Laurence Spellman, John Macmillan and Harry Hadden-Paton
>>406 He went to Eton and Cambridge has more male than female students (or did then). I expect he has some more male friends but we don't see because twitter folk don't take pics of him with other blokes unless they are famous.
KONG: SKULL ISLAND - October 1, 2015 - Kauai, HI & Atlanta, GA
"The Universal Pictures feature film “Kong: Skull Island” is now officially casting actors for new lead and supporting roles. All actors, extras, and crew members must be legally eligible to work in the entertainment industry in Atlanta, GA where shooting will take place beginning October 19, 2015. Additional filming will take place in Kauai, Hawaii."
So it looks like it goes ahead with Crowe and TH. Hope they're busy with those rewrites. Not got a good feeling about this one.
"Soon with the Jokers. Ben Wheatley x Tom Hiddleston HIGH RISE - 2016"
"HIGH-RISE by Ben Wheatley and MON ROI by Maïwenn and the biopic thriller THE PROGRAM by Stephen Frears."
Posting the bycycle's link because the girl made her twitter account private.
"Lunching with Loki (Tom Hiddleston)"
"On his own in Hampstead"
A random "hello" to Facebook. http://m.weibo.cn/d/torilla?jumpfrom=weibocom#showPic
With this and the above pic I'd say she's gone home now and that our hero has time on his hands!
Almost certainly she left the day after theatre and dinner. That's why there was no paps follow up.
As for having time on his hands, he's more than likely busy giving interviews for the Oct/Nov issues of magazines.
They were seen last weekend, after the pap shots.
Anon.lies. lies. Lies. No one saw then a week after that, otherwise it would've spread like a wildfire. Nice try though
>>421 Please calm down. Anon. could be mistaken, or they could have seen something we missed. Generally we do not lie to each other on this board, and we certainly don't run around calling each other liars because we think someone is wrong. Also keep in mind that you were incorrect about the sighting with the brunette just a few days ago and missed the photo when you checked for it on Twitter, but nobody attacked you for it. We disagree with each other all the time around here, but we keep it respectful. Please try to do the same.
please let's not start again. I've just asked the mods to delete the previous fight, I'd like not have to ask again to delete another.
They were seen out in his neighborhood on Saturday. Talking and walking by all accounts - nothing more. However, he was also seen at a movie on that Friday - on his lonesome ownsome.
Both of these were from twitter - I saw them at the time and have no intention of scrolling back to try to find them. I don't think they made it to tumblr, Toby or the other TH blogs. But they may be there, I'm not certain..
>>424 I for one am just glad I don't have to check Twitter myself. :) Thanks.
>>424 Are you talking about this movie sighting?
>>424 paps these days, so incompetent that one must rely on tweets! Yes, please if you find something of interest a link or even the name for the person would be nice.
>>426 No, not that one. The one I saw was on Friday itself. The woman - I think - seemed to suggest that it had just happened. A few people asked if he was with anyone, and she said no.
But then, he could have been and she just didn't notice. He could have been with EO, his sister, Tall Brunette (as I affectionately call her), Luke, the Queen, a bog of popcorn with the power of speech...all possibilities.
>>425 I usually do a quick check of the tag in the morning, but I gave up this morning because he went and blew up the tag. Ugh. Too much crap to wade through...even for me.
>>427 I know! What, does a person have to call them to get them to show up?!
>>417 Just say something nice to the fans Tom, keep their mind off other things
It's really annoying that someone tries to make us believe that they were seen together when they were not. That's all. No photo - no proof - no teuthe. Usually such things if they are real make their way to our l if very fast - and since no one talks about it, it is rubbish. As for correcting me all the time, think about yourself first, Anon. You try to pull the mark and make people believe they are dating when they aren't. You are really keen.on that aren't you?
>>432 But the thing is, they were seen together and there was photographic proof, a lot of it.
I'm not keen on them being together, I just happen to think, based on evidence, that they are together - in some way. Or were together. Who knows if it's present or past tense?
>>433 I would say it's probably safe to assume the movie theater tweets are true, since more than one person saw him, including a grown man who is verified on Twitter.
>>431 Yes, it did sound too much like a plea to stay by him, whether because the dating scoop is false or real I don't know, but it sounded a bit apologetic.
We have some material, it's pretty much the same material we had with Sian or JA. With these 2 people assumed 2 different things based on what type of story they liked best more than "evidence". Whether they were right we'll never know.
With EO because there's PR for a film, because there were articles that come from a US mag that is assumed to be her PR's favourite, the couple speculation makes more sense to most.
Couple of more things before I rush to work.
About his message. I don't know if anyone else checked, but the news of that night was everywhere, not just in the English speaking world, I saw articles in 7 other languages, so his message with its slightly needy nuance it truly made me wonder if this might not have been a big gossip blunder.
>>437 yes, the festivals. Unfortunately Telluride doesn't announce its program until the day before it starts, but that seems to be the most likely venue for ISTL. As for TIFF, I think CP might make it after all, GdT will hold a gothic class in August in collaboration with TIFF. I'm not sure about ISTL.
Actually I think TH is also busy preparing his Kong character because he won't have much time for it in Sept.
If he's doing print interviews, he may be answering questions about their relationship - on and off the set. Maybe those questions are first and foremost after the pap photos. It seems like that might be a obvious question to ask: So, did the chemistry on set spill over to your real life, Tom?
>>440 haha But I think if he didn't want to answer those questions his agent will tell the journalist not to ask. if Daniel Radcliff's agent can tell journalists he doesn't want to talk about his past alcohol problems, TH's agent can do the same.
"Corey Hawkins Joins #SkullIsland (EXCLUSIVE) http://variety.com/2015/film/news/straight-outta-compton-skull-island-corey-hawkins-1201557216/
I'm thinking they might let "are they or aren't they?" be an unanswered question during ISTL promo. Then people keep speculating, talking about the film's stars, doing write ups, watching the two of them together to try to spot something, etc.
Nothing will happen in 4 weeks, they aren't a couple. There is no.need to be a rocket scientist to understand that it's HER, Olsen pr and she would die and squeeze in a rabbit hole to make people believe that they are together. I've read a lot of articles in other languages too, and they all are a messy translation from.one another. Now they say Tom was courting her before Chris Evans and they near my fought for her when she broke up with her bf. Is THIS normal? I really laughed because I doubt it was her who broke up the engagement and she isn't that pretty to fight over. Plastic surgery, weird face, not very smart. Though Olsen fans think differently and call the tall brunette fat cow now (disaster as they say), I seriously hope if he dates someone it's the tall girl. Not that ugly porcelain doll.
>>443 if they do that people are going to go for the worst option.
>>441 Hold the damn bus! DanRan had alcohol probs? What?
>>446 yes, I think you can still find an article about it at CB
>>449 that might have been a good solution if TH hadn't been labelled as a homewrecker. He is the one with the image problem now, not her.
>>449 "But someone keeps calling US Weekly...!" Plot twist - it's Jane Arthy.
>> 450 I agree he now has this problem (entirely of his or her own making for drawing our attention to the whole trying back in May) - but what can he say that will make it better? If the Star mag thing was a plant (big if) it made him look worse - he waited till she broke up and then called her the next day. That makes him sound both involved and predatory, or just like an even bigger liar who won't admit he was seeing her before they broke up. I truly think it can't be spun back so silence is the only option now.
>>450 Interviewer: First question, Tom: Are you a homewreaker?
>>453 If. If they are not but (as seems beyond doubt) they are friends it also doesn't look good or help their friendship to say "oh no it was all a colossal mistake by the papers we are just friends". Not very gallant and puts the spotlight on her or her PR for being desperate and telling very one they were seeing each other to try and make it come true.
>>455 What a mess. Someone somewhere screwed up and now I can't think of how they can possibly fix it.
There is no way to fix it, people will judge Tom in any ways.
I don care about EO, I hope she will burn in PR hell.
( accidentally wrote it in different thread)
>>435. I hope he doesn't feel the need to apologize - whatever the situation with EO is. It is his life, after all. He doesn't need to say sorry for dating someone, he doesn't need to say sorry for pretending to date someone.
If he apologies, that means he k.ow he dies something wrong.
I really feel sorry for him. To be involved with Olsens is a disaster and I'm surprised he never knew it. But people like her can pretend well and make others believe they are saints when they are sluts.
Why are you guys assuming that the stories are definitely planted for PR? It would not be the first time that the press have written stories based on assumptions they've made about some pap pics that came in over their feed, including made-up 'sources'. It literally happens all the damn time - whenever someone famous is seen with a member of the opposite sex while being single.
>>455 Olsen already said in some past interview that media are always romantically liking her to any guy she is seen with. TH had media saying Susannah was his wife. It wouldn't be their first tie denying something.
I don't think if he says "we are just friend" it'll come off as rude, at least to his fans. The spotlight might go back on her PR and her - if they were involved - but since she didn't care about ruining his reputation I don't see why he should.
>>460 Nobody is stating they are, we are saying if that was the case, then it will look like this it's all hypothetical.
The assumption, not made here specifically, her PR was involved is because she used Us Weekly in the past to announce her engagement.
>>458 he doesn't need to apologize, but people are free to dislike him or not respecting him if he is pretending, if he is a homewrecker. (by the time we'll know the truth I'll have a big IF tattooed on my brain)
I mean if the situation was inverted, if TH had been officially engaged with someone, and some dude went after his fiancé on set and then she broke off their engagement, what will everyone be saying? "yes, she was right to cheat on him and dump him if TH wasn't her true love" or "what a bitch"?
EO also used US Weekly to confirm the end of her engagement: http://m.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/elizabeth-olsen-boyd-holbrook-split-break-off-engagement-details-2015191
And the May 2015 "hooking up" article was not the result of pap pics as they had not been photographed together prior to that article, nor had it been suggested in any mainstream media outlet that they were together. So it was not perhaps an entirely unreasonable assumption that she and TH were in some way involved and that the story came from one of them (probably her) to forestall any future suggestion that he had caused her breakup and/or to get the news out there before someone spotted them and made it a big splash.
>>464 with wonderful results! lol I feel like anyone with scarce intelligence these days is a PR agent.
That May article wasn't very flattering though, with that "hooking up". I totally expect one of the bycycle haters to send the spa's photos to the DM.
Well, the article in May wasn't really pleasant one. Hooking up casually - is not very romantic And doesn't give both side a good light. Yes, it came from Olsen, and poor Tom was used as a cover. As well as the craziest gossip about Chris Evans.
Does anyone think it's possible the original US article came from someone who didn't like Elizabeth and/or Tom very much? Olsen's ex-fiancé, or someone close to him maybe? If she left him for Tom, it's great revenge, and even if she and Tom weren't involved it would still make her and her upcoming film look bad.
Unlikely. It's verbose behaviour and not like BH at all. The girl just wanted to have some Hiddles, but alas... she is trying to pull as if they are something when they are none.
According my info Tom actually is involved with another woman, not Olsen at all.
don't know, it wouldn't be such a smart move for Holbrock (is that his name?), mags have a habit of talking eventually and he isn't a powerful actor, if he gets a bad rep he'll have problems finding a part, especially since EO, because of her family, has more influence.
Btw, Cumberbatch's Hamlet is about to start, TH will surely go. That is going to be interesting.
He doesn't need her to go there.
Eyeroll keep ignoring sane opinion.
>>464 I just read the story you linked to. It says 'A source has confirmed', it doesn't say the source is from Olsen or contain any direct quotes from her that aren't taken from other interviews. The 'source' could be completely made up and they could just be repeating internet gossip. Or they could have actually found out the information not from anyone in Olsen's campt, but by sketchy means. That's the beauty of anonymous 'sources', and precisely why every story - true or not - that orginated in hacked voicemails was atributed to one.
>>473 it could be either way, it's an assumption that Us Weekly is her go to place, it's an assumption that US Weekly isn't.
To the new posters: please try to understand that we don't post to convince anyone, ok? It's all just guesswork.
if they are just friends, if they are a couple, if they are whatever.
>>473 US Weekly had the exclusive on her romance with Holbrook, her engagement and her split
In other news, it seems that EO was spotted in Berlin yesterday for the Cap 3 shoot :
The original 'hooking up' story looked to me like it had been sourced from fan sightings of them together at that cafe he goes to, which had been floating around various blogs for a while. It didn't contain any more information that those fan sightings did, and seemed to follow the line of fan speculation that they were just FWBs, which comes up every time he's spotted with a woman because some fans can't bear the idea of him being in a relationship.
>>476 in that case, saying that US Weekly has an inside track with EO is reasonable. But that article in May still sounded bad for both. Now it's only TH.
>>477 thank you. (there's no need to use brackets for links in general, the only exception are twitter links)
All 'exclusive' means is that they're the first magazine to publish a story - and not always that, the word is frequently misused and abused by the press. It doesn't mean they have insider information.
>>475 You say that, Couch Potato, but it's not what I've seen, here or elsewhere. People accept a speculative premise and then run with it, and by the time they've done talking everyone is acting like it's the absolute truth. It's an echo chamber effect.
>>481 They were real exclusives, I checked. I just think it's too much of a coincidence.
>>482 And apparently you decided to only read what suited your apology. I said I don't have an opinion and I don't. But, as I also said, believe at your heart desire.
>>482 Well speaking of the echo chamber.
You say that the May US Weekly article came from "blog sightings" of TH and EO at the cafe. Presumably you refer to nw3 and/or the bicycle. The thing is that before the article there weren't any such sightings. EO had I think been spotted in London - not with TH. As to who TH was seen with, NW3 reported a sighting of him with a brunette with blonde highlights in late Jan. No identity given. Others soon speculated it might be EO and nw3 rubbished those suggestions saying it was pure hypothesis based on EO being in London and recently single. Lots of others suggested it was JA. There was no sighting of EO and TH reported on the bicycle site either though she did repost the brunette highlight sighting. There were as far as I am aware no Twitter sightings of them together either.
Stop talking about TH WERKING it, and
Start talking about TH's WORK!!
>>477 Awww, TH has got no one to have lunch with, and no one to take to the theatre and he's sending out 'I's so sowrry for showing up in Star Magazine' Facebook posts.
I feel for the dude.
Out Russel Crown, maybe enters Samuel L. Jackson. They better hurry.
"Is There Room On ‘Kong: Skull Island’ For Samuel L. Jackson And Tom Wilkinson?"
>>489 This movie is ALL over the place...a bad place.
Maybe TH should just play ALL the parts...OSCAR!
PS. I totally want to ship TH with TH in a wig.
Just saw it, idk if it means anything... https://twitter .com/issyvb/status/629458708045631488
>>492 Sounds like Tom has been around the theater she works at. Wonder if he's there to see friends, or doing something else in the building, or just catching some shows. Maybe working on some unannounced project - I would love that. Stage Tom is the best.
Side note - I was searching his name on the Twitter app and the top suggested search when I typed "Tom Hiddleston" was "Tom Hiddleston cheater."
It sounded like as if he was working, but that's just my guessing. God, make stage Tom happen again, I want to see him again acting like a proper actor, not an American circus bear.
Side note: Tom cheater? Here we are... a kick to those groupthink that his image isn't damaged.
Tom was spotted in theatre with another woman and couple of men. No Olsen.
He was at Mark Gatiss' play - a few people spotted him in the audience.
This woman saw him afterward and took a short video...and, yes, there is a short brunette in the video...let the wild speculation begin.
>>495 I think 'damaged' is a bit strong.
From what I understand - I wasn't in the fandom then - this reaction was similar to what took place with Bora Bora and Jane. Fans were like: What?! You never told us you were in a relationship (as if he needed to)! You said there was nothing to write home about. How dare you not be 100% available and accountable to your fans!
>>493 TWiggleston all day, everyday.
I think some fans will only be happy if he's in a relationship with himself.
>>499 That's not really it. JA wasn't engaged, and he didn't have a film to promote with her, so no PR. The thing with JA is that he was inconsistent, and fans like to be able to trust the object of their idol. If he hadn't said anything and people had seen the BB photos they would have simply said "oh he is still dating her".
haha goodness, read the last comment in that instagram account.
"thehollywoodmanI think that woman to the left may have been Elizabeth Olsen, did she ever turn around?"
people really see what they want to see, even in the face of evidence. not that the rest of comments are any better "Oh is he doing coriolanus again?"
It is EO. Boy's making her wear a brunette wig so they can hide their love.
I feel sorry for him now. I know people occasionally took the odd sneaky pic but now it seems like everyone who sees him is in "photo or it didn't happen" mode. All the fans on tumblr who went on about the pap pics being intrusive are cheerfully linking to this; I think it's worse.
In other news, Sony has picked up the Don Cheadle Miles Davies biopic: http://deadline.com/2015/08/miles-ahead-movie-don-cheadle-sony-pictures-classics-deal-1201492452/
Someone on tumblr pointed out that this doesn't increase ISTL's chances given how similar the subject matter is, as SPC is unlikely to push both.
>>504 and I don't even think this particular user was influenced by the nw3 or the bycycle blogs. I just think that it's a consequence of the hoopla on one side, because he went public all of a sudden when he was always so private, and the era we are living.
>>504 I agree. I wonder if it's a case of: Well, the paps did it, so I can too.
I also wonder if it's because he wasn't signing or taking pictures - she said so in the comments. Maybe fans just feel like they have to come away with something from an encounter - a memory just won't do.
I hope it doesn't mean that the screen-tests didn't go so well for ISTL, that SPC wanted a better horse in the race.
>>506 I agree not necessarily the bicycle or whatever blog. It's just that suddenly he is in the news (to his fans at least) and everybody wants a piece. People often tweeted "I saw TH at the National" but now it's "I accosted him he said no photos so I took this video".
Someone on tumblr suggested that the slightly mournful "count your blessings" tone of the Facebook message might have to do with the news about the Davies biopic. I did see some sense in that. Even if they're both good it's an odd choice for SPC and doesn't scream absolute confidence in ISTL as its big music bio Oscar splash.
Interestingly both awardswatch and indiewire put him as an outsider and Cheadle as a real possibility even before this news. I personally think he is more likely to score a best supporting nom for his Grand Guignol mad turn in CP.
>>511 Miles ahead has already the centrepiece slot at the NYFF. ISTL...
Quite. I think it ran out of puff too early. People were whispering Oscar while it was still filming. Then all this recent nonsense 4 months too early to have any positive effect and before anyone has seen so much as a trailer. And as you say, nothing on any major film festival.
Not that I am saying it was deliberate PR for the movie. Just that the story, however it came to light, probably won't keep ISTL in people's minds till November.
Of course ISTL might still appear at festivals, but the fact that none of them chose it as major attraction, and now this with SPC, it doesn't bode well.
The paps hoopla just made it worse, in US media. Probably why that fb message was asking for fan support. There might be difficult times ahead.
Miles ahead at NYFF means no ISTL right? SPC won't bring two music biopic at the same festival. So the only options now are Telluride and/or TIFF.
There is no ISTL for TIFF. Telluride is the last option.
I'm.afraid it's a big fail. Thomas, Thomas... it's not your fault, though no, it is. Don't hang out with Olsen's sister, she brings only disaster. Its too late now.
"Ben Wheatley’s High-Rise and Terence Davies’ Sunset Song are among the eight new titles to join the competition line-up at the upcoming San Sebastian Film Festival (Sept 18-26)."
nice one by Torilla, TH already attended the SanSebastinaFilmFestival in 2011.
And on the same day, did a really lovely slightly mournful photoshoot that is one of my personal favourites: http://imgbox.com/g/Dvv6EM5DaI
He tweeted again! A bit by Seneca and shortness of life.
Life's quotes, guys he is single ;)
>>520 I hope he'll time to do one this time. His September is going to be very busy travelling.
And now he's tweeting Stoic philosophers. Crap. Such strange behavior.
>>521 I don't think this is any indication of his relationship status, i.e: Life is short and rather than pursuing the adoration of my fans, I should pursue the adoration of a woman I'm interested in - no matter the puppies my fans might have.
Anon., sure, ofcourse. Keep on looking for the sign of him Fucking Olsen, you know, someone said here, you just see what you want to see sarcasm mode on.
Or you are just a troll.
>>523 I know, Couch, I saw the wink. I just wanted to mention fans having puppies.
>>524 I'm one step away from asking the mods to ban you. Either you moderate yourself when you address other posters, or you will be moderated out of this thread.
>>524 I'm not a troll, Lex, I'm EO...and I'm shagging your man. I can't wait to get back to London to see him again.
Maybe I am a troll.
>>529 please, really, ignore her. I don't want the thread to be inundated by fights and reach the point where news are hard to find.
I like Lex - she's passionate and not afraid to show her corner. T
And ad hominem attacks are what the internet is for!
You see I said yesterday he had time on his hands and I was RIGHT!
And posting the same Seneca quote on Facebook with a slightly different comment and changing his cover photo. Time to himself indeed. Use all the social media!!!
>>533 I bet he's using Snapchat like a fiend!
Morning is for Twitter and Facebook, afternoon is for thumbs-uping youtube videos featuring him, and the evening is for theatre and scrolling through Tumblr.
Lol. Anon. is on a roll today :)
I need a better name than anon without dot. Any thoughts? The Force seems to be with you tonight.
>>539 Oh, my GAWD - the past two weeks have given up so many possibilities for names:
I had a dream that tom hiddleston died of a massive heart attack on sunday 9 august 2015 and it was all over social media and the news it seemed so realistic so scary.
>>541 Dude has got a heart like a race horse, I would imagine, so hopefully you're not prophetic!
I did see a tweet about him riding his bike. That - in London - would be the most danger he's in.
>>542 Yeah, people are worried that it means ISTL is going to get short shrift from Sony. However, it's a big company and it is fairly good at keeping a lot of balls up in the air. They had three or four movies and actors in last year's Oscar race and gave them all adequate support, and came away with some wins.
>>544 I am sure Sony saw a rough cut before taking it on so I doubt they have decided after a test screening it is a pile of poo. My thought is just that the two are so similar that one is likely to steal the other's fire. Sounds like Miles Ahrad has the passion points and then some - 10 years on the making etc
>>545 I would imagine they did. But you're correct, they are similar in genre - music bio - if not subject matter.
>>548 If he were to travel to Berlin to see EO - sightseeing, eating bratwurst, more pap strolls - I'd unplug my modem and head for the bunker. Fandom implosion! It could happen, ladies, so gird your loins.
The screenings seemed to go okay: some glowing tweets and some reports saying that it needed editing/tightening up. Not instant perfection, but maybe on its way to being a really good movie.
>>549 Tom seems to be a relationship of convenience sort of person, at least in this stage of his life. Jane was his GF/FWB while he was in London, or when they were both free for a vacation, but when he was away from her it wasn't anything, no flying back to London just to visit her. If something is or was going on with EO, it was while they were filming together or while she happened to be in London, maybe when they do press tours. I don't think he's going out of his way to be with any woman right now, so I doubt he'll be running off to Berlin, especially if he hasn't already. Of course I could be wrong - I will gird my loins just in case. ;-)
>550 I get this impression too. Also that he is slightly solitary - almost monkish at times. There have been plenty of tweets on a Saturday night over the years which suggested he wasn't out on the lash DiCaprio style with a model on his arm. He doesn't seem to treat himself to the luxury lifestyle he could afford, apart from living in a nice part of London. The car one assumes was a gift from Jaguar, and we know about the clothes!
Sorry about the italics. Missing that second arrow does weird things!
>>550 It's almost like US Weekly wasn't being completely honest when it said that they spend every second together.
Dammit, US Weekly, why the lies?! We rely on you for factual reporting and you continue to let us down.
>>553 They are texting constantly, remember? Don't be so doubting.
>>554 Good catch. I think it might even be sexting...meow!!
Maybe they celebrated the anniversary of Pap Night by sending each other saucy pics: He sent one of himself with a face like thunder, and she sent one of her face covered with a scarf.
>>555 Well if she is in a hotel and he is at home it will be easy to recreate the ambiance.
>>557 And yes, Enquirer was the one with the Evans story.
>>559 I forgot to put in bold the best: "They made a connection on the set" otherwise said: he is a homewrecker and she cheated on her fiancé. I expect a song of the day from TH in the next 24/48hr, poor guy.
>>560 The smell of rubbish was strong ;) But this was in the printed edition not online, I have no idea if it makes a difference in how many more people will read it.
>>557 It's like a Cosmo relationship article: From 'hooking up' to 'hot and heavy' in 5 easy and quick steps!
I guess that's the power of the Hiddles at work! His voice or eyes...or other body parts...just seems to engage the ovaries.
Also remember the last Us Weekly article the day after the paps, they were getting "more serious" but they weren't ready for a "large commitment," which means, according to the Enquirer, at some point in the last two weeks she suddenly decided she wants to have Tom's babies... as a cover for her relationship with Chris Evans? Nobody will ever suspect she's with Evans if she is having another man's babies!
break up with Boyd in January, procreate with another man in July! Boing boing!
This crap just keeps getting better and better!
I think it's fairly easy to separate the wheat (planted/approved stories) from the chaff (made up stories) here. And this one seems to be a made-up one - no one plants in the National Enquirer...except for aliens and dead Elvis.
>>566 JA could tell her that trying to move the relationship forward doesn't really work very well. Maybe next time EO is at G&W she could drop by JA's apartment and have a chat.
>>565 January? What you talking about, Willis? I think it's safe at this point to say that they unconsciously uncoupled before then...maybe when she started consciously coupling with someone else...wink, wink.
And I think 'Boing boing!' is the perfect quote to describe this situation. Ahhh, from Bora Bora Gate to Boing Boing Gate is only a year. Memories.
Agreed that we seem to have reached the stage where tabloid journalists feel free to fabricate quotes that sound vaguely plausible. I didn't get that feeling from US Weekly (although I did get the sense of one person's wishful thinking). But imagine if she did call the Enquirer!
Celebitchy now reporting that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are imploding. The Enquirer will have more interesting stories to run in the next 0.1 seconds. It really isn't their publicity fortnight is it - first the Afflecks, then Gwen Stwfani and now this.
If Beyonce and Jay-Z are imploding, the world will need to have a new 'Celebrity God Couple.'
Now if only there was an obvious choice....
And here's something about the WORK - not the WERK
>>574 Considering there are only about 25 words in the whole article, there's really no need to go beyond 'beefcake.'
Print edition and internet. What an achievement.
>>574 It's like they've never even looked at him.
>>575 "Now this is what we call a stretch" "we're praying it pans out" oh dear
>>573 Cher is dying and Robin Williams was murdered?? I just...stop posting links to the Enquirer. You're ruining my day.
>>580 Yeah, like I said, this one is chaff.
PS - Prayer circle around Cher!
In other more exciting (to me) news I have just found out I am going to China on business on Friday. In my head I will spend most of my time there accosting people on the street saying "Are you Torrilla? No? Are YOU Torrilla?" Etc.
>>582 I guess we can use the prayer circle to pray for Cher and also for an Oscar for Tom.
So a 'Dr. Teich' just tweeted TH a link for a kindle book. I feel like I should put double quotes around the 'Dr.' bit, because the blurb in the tweet was:
'A KINDLE E-BOOK, SEX MAGIC A GUIDE TO MASTURBATION AND FOREPLAY WITH YOUR WOMAN AND MATERIALIZATION THRU SEX MAGIC.'
>>586 Excuse you, I happen to have a PhD in Sex Magic.
>>588 It's okay, I forgive you. Coincidentally, "Knickers in a Twist" will be the title of my upcoming Sex Magic manual.
>>589 I look forward to your upcoming manual. Perhaps you can get TH to write the forward.
Of course it will be dedicated to TH and EO...whose own sex magic puts the sex magic in Sex Magic Manual.
>>589 If you write a book about masturbation you should call it Manual Sex Magic: A Sex Magic Manual
>>585 I doubt that a prayer circle can even get him a nomination at this point - probably for the best, imagine what Tina Fey and Amy Poehler could do with this.
Why SPC is leaving all the chattering about this film be about these two supposed trainwreck of a love story if it's Oscar material? SPC can't bother to pick up the phone and tell someone's PR to shut the hell up?
Or less than OLLA as that was at Cannes. SPC tweeted excitedly about acquiring the rights but you are correct - nothing since then from them and really not much from the test screenings save for some rather ambivalent comments about the script holding him back etc.
And having seen some YouTube of him doing The Pirate Fairy I just don't think singing is his forte. At Nuffiled he talked about how at RADA they focussed on making you improve your weakness (verse speaking, dancing, singing, etc). Someone asked him what his weakness was and he refused to say! I did wonder slightly cynically if that was because it was singing and he thought it would look bad because he had just finished filming ISTL.
>>594 true, besides OLLA was a Jarmusch's film with Tilda in it. ISTL doesn't even have that pull and it's about a musician who was very local. And Miles Ahead will be released at the beginning of Oct. while ISTL is after Thanksgiving Day.v I think the best we can hope is that ISTL is well received.
Come on, guys...in the words of Jane Arthy: Keep hope alive!
I still believe, as Anon (I think) said earlier, that SPC would have seen the movie in its raw state and would have the knowledge of how to 'back a horse.'
Twitter hashtag is awash with a frankly rather poor vine of a TH/Chris Pratt dance-off. As an antidote to this and also to get the conversation onto something we all agree he is good at I offer the following. Not new but it always makes me :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMd7piKhCcU
>>598 Yea, these are the days when I don't bother with the twitter tag.
He can dance - no doubt. And he can act - also, no doubt. And he shares both with us. Ahh, TH feels.
Crimson Peak Spoiler Alert - though if you read the interviews TH gave months ago, it's not a spoiler at all - but in case you didn't or you don't remember, this site gives away a major character.
Yes I saw that. I joined the dots with some pics Jess Chastain posted on her Facebook but I don't remember the interview. Do you have a link?
>>601 No sorry, I tried to go and reread some of the printed interviews but I couldn't find it. Now I'm wondering if it was him. What I remember it was him, or someone else, saying that the spirit of their mother was haunting the house.
>>600 I saw those last night and thought, "oh what an adorable plastic Tom, and Mia, and - SON OF A $&#%@!" I've been ignoring almost every interview to avoid spoilers, but my weakness for cute little toys got me. Oh well, hope the movie's not ruined. I'll still see it anyway, of course. :)
>>604 Someone said that it just looked like TH is a cowboy hat...ummm, yeah, that's how acting works.
>>604 First comment: I can't believe SPC is handling both this and Miles Ahead
And here, for comparison.
>>606 Yeah, I saw that. I also saw: hopefully the hat won't overshadow his performance.
Boy is getting it in the neck:
Hopefully, this is the start of the build-up: more pics, magazine articles, trailer.
Does anyone know the 'usual' timeline for these given the late Nov. release?
Strange that this is obviously meant to feature ISTL, but Miles Ahead gets a mention.
>>609 If the release is for an Oscar campaign they are late, according to those posts from CB I linked. If instead the film is out of the run, it's in the norm.
>>610 Miles Ahead and the Hat get a mention. Do not forget the Hat!
Ah, how sad it must be to have your craft reduced to "wears hat, the better to resemble Hank."
"Hang tight tomorrow for an announcement of some significance #finally"
let's hope for a trailer
I'm posting the link to this little interview with TH about CP because he talks about a ghost experience when he was a child, but mainly, it allows me to correct something I wrote in the second thread where I said they recorded ISTL's soundtrack at Air Studios but it was at Abbey Road Studios, or Apple Studios like TH calls it - I confuse the two because they are both not far from his house.
Posting SPC tweet, since they finally remembered they are supposed to promote this film.
Very optimistic, PR, or written by a fangirl - can't decide.
>>619 Fangirl. I wish all the best to TH for ISTL, but this woman is basing her Oscar omens on: date of release, that is a biopic, the fact that he is singing - of all the things, his singing! - and his fanbase, like that helps with the AMPAS. She is also happily neglecting the mess with EO.
High Rise at TIFF
"So HIGH-RISE will receive its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival."
Link to Variety article about HR
>>621 I'm happy about this, really, but I want a damn trailer. It's been a year, come on already.
>>623 yeah, I know, especially since we had HR already at 2 other festivals. But maybe, if this is the last festival news, they'll drop the trailer now.
Here's DMs write-up. A lot of his previous roles are brought up, and they re-hash date night and refer to EO as his 'current girlfriend.'
>>625 Promotion will be interesting indeed
Did EO had a nose job? I was just looking at the photo in the DMs article and it looked strange. We had someone here who had an eye for this stuff.
>>626 Supposedly, there was a blind item - yeah, I know, blind items are crap - about the sister of two famous child actors. The child actors got their sister hooked on coke, leading to the destruction of her nose and the need for some plastic surgery intervention. Most answers to the blind listed the Olsen twins as the child actors, and EO as the sister needing plastic surgery.
Does anyone find it odd that he's not tweeted or re-tweeted for HR or ISTL?
I mean, he'll tweet Seneca at the internet, but not re-tweet the SPC or TIFF announcements.
>>628 He didn't RT anything related to HR and festivals, so I didn't expect him to RT about ISTL, but of the two, since ISTL is the one where he is the lead that's the one he is supposed to promote more. So, yes, it's a bit odd.
>>627 I can't say either, but since the photos and videos of that night always make me laugh, I tried to focus on something else, and her nose all of a sudden stood out in its strange shape.
Take one of the thousands of candids with her former fiancé - because she hates the paps - it does look different.
I post it in case someone says TH is in Cairo. It seems more a job of getting additional shots of the city, from a fb page it's clear the main director isn't even there.
>>630 Yes the sunken bridge and upturned snout is very Daniella Westbrook, no?
And gotta love the Daily Fail's outstanding investigative journalism: "He also wears a suit and tie – no horned helmet or other intergalactic Loki garb here."
Oh god and celebitchy: "Tom Hiddleston wears a giant hat for the first look for ISTL: hot?"
I can't bear to link to it.
>>634 Someone in the comments section of that article is claiming to have insider knowledge that he's gay. Says her friend worked as a double on a movie with him.
It's funny how the gay rumors are actually circulating more after the EO appearance than they ever did with any of Tom's other lady friends, and even more than when he was just single and alone. I think because this one feels so heavily managed and PR driven.
>>632 yes, those were the two things that made think of it.
>>635 I agree. I think the idea TH might have used his personal life for PR, as well as the idea of him being a homewrecker, would a big let down, so if it's to cover he's gay then it's more acceptable.
I saw the gay comment. Wasn't made by a regular poster. It did have the ring of - half truth? I don't know. It is just an impression of course but to me it didn't sound like trolling. I have wondered sometimes if he might be bi.
>>638 I've wondered the same thing. Any time someone suggests bi in a discussion about his sexuality it immediately gets shot down by Team Straight and Team Gay, but I always think he might be.
Michael K always gets down to the heart of the matter. His first sentence is
This is from the trivia section for ISTL on IMDB. I saw it posted on instagram:
During filming, Tom Hiddleston endeared himself to the cast and crew by serenading them at the piano between scenes. At wrap, each day, he graciously shook hands with everyone involved and thanked them for their work, from the janitor to his costars.
>>644 I read that story when it first showed up on tumblr, I think it was posted by a girl who said she was an extra. I wonder how true it is - I have a hard time believing anyone could be that nice, even Tom.
Side note, I lost a lot of faith in IMDB trivia when I discovered anyone with an email address can add to it, and there is no fact checking at all. There have been some downright false trivia items on there, and it takes a lot more effort to get wrong info removed than it does to put it up in the first place.
>>648 I think there's something funny going on with the shadows around his forearm. If you look closer, his wrist is bigger.
But he did lose a lot of weight for the role.
Get ready, Ladies...it's happening.
Torilla - have you found her yes Anon? - has these up on her weibo site.
>>645 "I have a hard time believing anyone could be that nice, even Tom."
Not to sound too jaded and skeptic (yes, I totally am) but do you mean, that thirsty for attention and approval? ;) Yeah, it's nice to be nice and all, and probably would be a charming experience to be on the receiving end of this (for the first time... if that story is true... on the second and consecutive days I would side-eye the hell out him), but when I'm reading it, just seems waaay over the top, even for TH.
>>654 Yeah, his need for approval and attention is probably topping out at an 8/8.5 - and that's base line. I think we've all seen it spike to the 9/10 range - Asian Thor 2 promo tour, anyone? Any chat show he's ever been on, anyone? (Side note: still love the little muppet!)
>>641 wow that was a forthright opening line! haha Not to speak of the rest.
Link to Torrilla post >>653 mentioned
I think he played the piano in a church while filming the Hollow Crown, once. So while I don't doubt he might have played guitar between one shot or the other, I also doubt he did it every day and that every day he would shoo hands with everyone, if not for the amount of time it would take.
maybe we should start making a list
The link to the original poster's tumblr (the image came from the bycycle blog)
>>659 Let's see, we have so far:
Oxford Gas Station Blonde
>>661 I would add Sian, because she's an old classic.
>>661 Good list, Anonsy!
I'd add: It's his sister, it's totally his sister (said by every over invested tumblr fangirl)
I've made two lists and included all known and suspected partners I could remember.
Oldies But Goodies:
>>664 V neck tshirt guys! We can't send this to the DM if we are not thorough - The National Theatre blonde might be ELLEUK editor trying to secure and interview about another blonde.
Note that the National Theatre happened last week.
>>664 Considering the recent resurface of gay/bi rumours, I'd totally add Luke to the Current Harem. Hell, I'd add him even without gay rumours, after all, all other partners come and go, and he's a constant lurking presence, much like those boots.
It's a real pity TH isn't part of the cast, and what cast.
"In partnership with The British Museum, we present a rare reading of Homer's epic from start to finish with more than 60 artists."
You forgot Olly!!!
Olly, of course! Besides for his sister and JA, Olly has been the only other Wimbeldon worthy person in TH's life.
If only there was a way to combine his sister, JA, Olly, and his boots.
Mark Gatiss tweeted about seeing CP courtesy of TH.
Date night...and the list grows longer.
"Saw ‘Crimson Peak’ courtesy of @twhiddleston A gorgeously creepy & unhealthy gothic melodrama, oozing G del T’s fabulously foetid style. Go!"
>>672 'So this week date night is with MG. No blonde.'
We don't know what type of wig TH made him wear.
>>673 haha but I'm very disappointed with the paps, like really, all this social life is happening and nothing. It's like they work only on EO's PR request ;)
>>674 I see what you did there, Couch. I see you, and I'm feeling you.
"I have exclusive pictures of Tom Hiddleston eating which I can keep to myself for ever and ever and ever"
Being on holiday makes me slow and forgetful.
The instagram video at the National's stage door with 3 friends/collegues/whatever is from the 7th and there's no blonde - unless the video was posted on the 7th but it's actually from the night before.
Kong: Skull Island Casting Call Reveals Movies Plot!
"Kong: Skull Island" takes place years after the original film. In 1933, American showman, Carl Denham returned from a mysterious, hidden island with a priceless treasure. A treasure not gold or jewels, but the island's barabric god, a monstrous anthropoid called "Kong." The savage giant escaped and wreaked havoc among the man-made canyons of Manhattan, but within hours of the giant apes death his body, and Carl Denham, disappeared. Many years later, the son of Carl Denham makes a shocking discovery that leads him back to the site of his father's greatest adventure and to the answers that will unlock the century's greatest mystery and history's greatest miracle."
this is from the bycycle site
Greetings from the land of Torrilla! I am even more in awe of her given that Twitter, Tumblr and Google seem not to be working (blocked?). This site clearly too unimportant to attract the censor's attention...
My two pen'oth is that he probably went once, video was posted next day, and that the sighting with the blonde is genuine - insofar as that means anything. Without context it is hard to tell if being "with" someone is a correct assumption given that at the theatre half the people there are sitting next to a person they didn't go with. Maybe he struck up a conversation with a hot blonde he happened to be sitting next to, the dirty dog! And the stage door bods could be the people he actually went with, friends of Gatiss he met at the door or who knows what.
>>680 Nihao! I tend to agree, although someone at the bycycle says that he was seated with those stage door buddies, but I wouldn't rule out the ghost blondie, solely because one must have a blonde apparition by his side for gossip to work, as EO knows very well.
>>667 I think all of this could be fixed with a tracking device and a GoPro mounted on a harness. He needs to be tagged. The last known unicorn cannot be allowed to go unstudied in the wild. We must learn every facet of his strange and beautiful mating habits!
>>667 I think all of this could be fixed with a tracking device and a GoPro mounted on a harness. He needs to be tagged. The last known unicorn cannot be allowed to go unstudied in the wild. We must learn every facet of his strange and beautiful mating habits!
Sorry for the double post - actually don't know how I achieved this. TALENT.
>>676 This reminds me of a really crap tabloid headline. Man sits and eats - EXCLUSIVE.
>>678 Ugh. I want to give this film the benefit of the doubt, but this blurb makes it sound like shite.
So is it Kong Jr. - in both respects? Son of Kong and son of guy who found Kong meet on Skull Island? Both talk about how their fathers totally let them down.
>>685 with a Loki cameo to do therapy about having lousy fathers.
Keep on making fun from Skull Island movie.
Better make fun of ISTL, the shittiest movie on earth.
>>685 In which period does Kong:Skull Island take place? Because I have a problem with the years: if Denham Sr. disappeared in 1933, how can his son Denham Jr in 2015 be as young as TH? The film must be happening in the '60s at the latest.
>>689 wasn't 1970s Detroit mentioned by one of the actors who dropped out, JK Simmons?
If the 1970s is correct...ouch.
So, Tom, we're going to have you play a 40+ year old man in this.
>>691 yes, he did! If they haven't changed the script, ouch.
Now, I heard it described (by TH I think) as a Kong "origin movie" - ie not the crapulous sounding sequel it appears to be. Ah well. He will certainly be able to play 40 with no probs (see Andy Gotts shoot). daddy Denham must have left a babe in arms for it to work even so.
>>693 Okay, am I the only one that loves some of those Gotts photos?
These are great (I just went on google image search). Yeah, he has the receding hairline of a white, British man in his 30s - I swear they all start loosing their hair and looking old at about 22.
No I love them! But he looks older than his chronological age in them I think.
>>694 I like them, but not the second one, mainly for the filters Gott used.
>>695 Glad I'm not the only one.
'But he looks older than his chronological age in them I think.' Yep, on this. That's the lot of many British men - that pale skin is no defense against the sun.
There is more than a hint of redhead in his natural colouring I think - pale skin and freckles. You can really see it on the Coriolanus poster. If he were more blonde I think he would tan better - most blondes I know get a lovely even golden tan but without the freckly undertone.
"I saw #CrimsonPeak the other day.. wow. its grrrrrrreat. "
>>700 If ISTL needs the massive re-edit and re-cut people are claiming, I'd be surprised to see it at anything before it officially opens.
>>701 Does it need re editing? I haven't seen that suggested on the test screening tweets - apologies if someone has posted this and I missed it.
>>703 TVM - I do remember these vaguely but I didn't pick up from the mentions that it was some wholesale re-edit, just the sort of tweaks one might expect after a test screening. Poor love - I do hope his pet project is received well but nothing about it has gone quite as well as expected, I feel (if you compare with news on CP).
>>704 I also thought it was some small details, but the lack of presence at any festival so far when even HR - that was still in post-production in May - managed to acquire 3 appearances at festivals and 2 of them in competition, makes it look like ISTL needed more then minor tweaks. Surely, in comparison to CP, the feedback for ISTL has been scarce, and the pseudo love story PR didn't help. What's more, it seems like TH himself is showing CP to his friends, but not ISTL. I just hope that if something is wrong with the film it's the film and not his performance.
>>704 I couldn't put it better myself. Plus, many of his fans seem to say, in a nice way, not my cup of tea. Meanwhile Hank's fans aren't so minded to like it. And the singing. I watched some of the Wheatland videos for the first time today. I know he hadn't been practising for long but I found it toe curling. It's like the Thor screentest all over again. Play to your strengths. You do not have the voice of an angel or the bod of Chris Hemsworth but it's ok.
>>706 They are, aren't they? I'm surprised because one year ago you would hardly find anyone saying that. The singing, in fairness, if you listen to Hank William he was just as bad, the compositions are nice and so are the lyrics, but he was a terrible singer, so that is the least of worries.
>>707 mind you his fans are a funny lot (us excluded obviously). Many of them were up in arms about the (totally unsurprising) turn that GDT's kinkiness takes. (I won't say more as I know some on here have tried to avoid spoilers). Anyway then they saw his bum on the international trailer and suddenly they are all ok with it again!!
Thinking about it maybe they are editing in a scene where Hank plays the gee-taar in the nude.
>>708 haha I wonder if they remember what GdT said about his idea of what is kinky. Which reminds me of the disgusted face TH made when a journalist at SDCC asked him about "how incestuous is the incest in CP". he isn't very comfortable with the kinky.
>> Wasn't the face of disgust due to the journalist spoiling the Totally Secret and Surprising Kinky Plot Twist (which I BET we don't see enacted on screen just as I BET we don't see the LokiPokeyStick, Guillermo you old troll, you)?
>>711 haha I BET with you that the bum is all we are going to see. (I call that his disgusted face because it's the face he made when he was at Chatty Man 2 years ago and he was shown that draw of Loki)
>>703 My info was from the Boston Herald (bad girl to not post!).
That the audience at a test screening of the Hank Williams biopic “I Saw The Light” wasn’t exactly cracking up at some of producer Brett Ratner’s jokes. During a discussion about the film to gather audience feedback, the Hollywood heavy responded to one young lady who thought some editing might help move the story along with a quip to the effect, “You’re really smart. Do you go to Harvard?” To another rather attractive audience member, he quipped, “Just so you know, I’m staying at the Four Seasons.” But Ratner did allow that he chose to do the test screen at the Kendall Square theater because “Boston audiences are smart.” Well, that’s no joke!
>>713 I can't abide chatty man so I only watched the dancing. Was it nekkid Loki art?
>>715 it was a drawing of Loki with a pole for poledance in an awkward position. Fastforward is before they are joined by the other 2 (whose names I can't quite remember)
>>714 Nice fellow. No wonder people didn't talk about the film on the internet in enthusiastic tones. "move the story along" feels like it might be a bit boring.
>>716 Aargh no YouTube either!!!
I do agree about him not being at home with the kink. He can come across as a bit prim.
I think TH is continuing his 'new adventures in PR' by showing CP around and hoping his friends/associates tweet about it so he doesn't have to.
I wonder if the same will happen with HR and ISTL? Mark Gatiss might have his movie nights sorted out for the next few weekends!
>>717 Yeah, Brett Ratner is about as dodgy as they come in Hollywood. He's got 'ewwwww' written all over him.
I love the idea of video night round at Tom's. He answers the door wearing his grandad cardigan and he says "when the film is over I had some songs to play you on the guitar!"
>>723 Thank you. Though now I feel defiled by the obscene chatty man fan art!
>>724 yes, on reflection I should have told you about it :)
On the subject of ISTL
This is what makes me want to punch whomever devised the pap stroll. Before that night, a fair number of people were excited about ISTL - this was his Oscar bait, this was him stepping out of his comfort zone, this was him going all method (moving in with Rodney, practicing his singing morning and night, losing weight when he does have a lot extra to lose. Sure, there were skeptics, but people were interested!
>>721 It tweets that it liked the movie or it gets the hose!!
Mark Gatiss is so deliciously wrong that he might go for the hose.
>>726 It was completely out of character for him, not only the story itself, the pap walk too. Of course, anything can be in life, but it was so obvious that he would have nothing to gain from it, that it makes you wonder why he would deliberately choose to damage his reputation.
But that is why, while exploring all possibilities, we all said it didn't make sense, didn't we? The only person that gained from that kind of PR is a blondie that lives in LA and has personal relationships with scarves.
>>728 'at the first red carpet he'll prove me wrong and be hand in hand with EO'
For some strange reason, I think this may be the case. CP is debuting in LA, after all. EO could probably walk to the premiere from her house. But we shall see.
>>729 You mean she won't be at TIFF? Or in Zurich? Or in San Sebastian? They are going to make me wait 2 months!
Jokes aside, the LA's premiere for CP is tentatively set for October 12th, but since the release date for the US and the UK is the same, Oct. 16th, London's premiere will be the same week. And TH will have to attend the BFI LFF for HR, so he is more likely to attend the London's premiere and then leave for Atlanta for Kong.
>>729 No, she's only contracted for appearances in London and LA.
She'll send Tall Brunette, National Theatre Mystery Blonde and It's His Sister to the other appearances.
>>731 Joking aside - Never!
He's pretty good at flying visits and racking up the air miles. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make all the premieres and festivals. And maybe break the laws of physics to do so...and end up looking like a zombie in the process.
I'm not so sure we'll see them anywhere other than ISTL premiere, for 2 reasons. First, CP looks to be the big commercial and critical success of the year for him and I am not sure he will want to contaminate the stream by making it all about his relationship (which it would be because attending a red carpet together sends a definite message). Second, looking at the timeline and subsequent weeks' events I am not sure they are as serious as she/US Weekly would now have us believe. He has the kind of fans who take pics and post on Twitter, and a rumoured relationship, and yet it took from May to July for a pic to surface, only a couple of days after someone first said they're spending time together in London. No visit to set to Majorca though I think she had finished filming. And in London, lots of sightings of EO alone at places where you might expect a new boyfriend to be there to be shown off (at Babington House); then purse night after which they go their separate ways and no subsequent sightings. No more hanging out even though it is said she has no filming in Berlin and his schedule is empty. When you're in the lived up honeymoon stage don't you spend every available moment together? I am not saying just friends - I do think there was something there - but he first US Weekly article was I suspect pretty close to the truth. They had a fling on set and they liked each other enough to keep in touch. Then they decided to see each other in real life, but no particular hurry to meet as soon as they were free. Then publicity bomb. The U.S. Weekly second article, in my view pure fantasy from her after he (probably) runs for cover.
>>733 yep. I would only add she wasn't at Wimbledon. Bad sign.
and while it feels like something might
have happened, at the same time I don't feel like ruling out the just friends yet, because it's TH. I don't think he will ever trust a girl that dumped his fiancé to be with another guy in a matter of weeks. And if he wanted a fling, there are less complicated people to have it with. People that won't use the him and the paps.
Finance instead of finance - I Freuded myself a bit there!!
Flipping heck spellcheck keeps autocorrecting fiancé to finance!
>>736 that is too much of a stretch for me. I know it seems like he went a bit method for Hank, but I think it stopped to his role, because he is also a very grounded person, with very grounded sisters. We are talking of a guy that after watching Amour he thought about it for a month, he likes to think about things extensively and he is not some newbie in his twenties that doesn't know that when the film ends things are going to feel differently. He has been doing this job for a long while.
I didn't mean to say he did it for the role, just that his feelings about the role provide a context for acting in a way he maybe wouldn't normally. There were a few signs he wasn't as grounded in reality as he usually is. He went all the way to LA wearing a prop wedding ring. I personally think it is odd to wear a wedding ring when you are not married and you are far from the location where you are playing a married person.
>>740 But Hank's marriage wasn't a happy one. And in that particular photoshoot he was playing a married guy, it was a wedding photo, Felicity Jones was dressed as a bride.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to force you to abandon your idea. But on one side you say: they got together because of the film and they went on because of those emotions, and because TH thought it was good PR for him, but now the film looks it won't do so well, so he doesn't like it so much anymore.
>>735 I think it will be awhile before we see TH at Wimbledon with a woman. JA seemed to have muddied those waters.
>>743 As an aside, DM's most used headline template is "______ displays her toned legs."
No the photo shoot is a homage to/knockoff of a scene in Bonnie and Clyde: http://www.hypable.com/famous-movie-scenes-recreated-benedict-cumberbatch-tom-hiddleston/ They weren't married in the film or in real life.
I see it as a holiday romance - they can be genuinely intense while you're on holiday together, but once you're home again, what? Texting and keeping in touch, maybe seeing each other a few months later to see if you still like each other. Seems to me be reasonably akin to what happened here.
>744 No the most used phrase by the Fail is "x showed off her post baby body" which means depending on context x is a fat cow or we hate x because she had a baby 2 weeks ago and looks like she never was pregnant.
Oh, Red Carpet Burritto Baby, we hardly knew ye.
Yeah, I don't know if we will ever understand the VF ring thing. ISTL prop, VF prop (showing lack of historical accuracy).
Just adds to the mystery of TH.
I think of it as the Beyoncé ring - he likes himself so he put a ring around it.
...his finger, perverts!
Re: The Ring
Maybe the stylist just wanted a moment when she got to slip a wedding ring on TH's finger.
I was re-reading the DM's article, they are backtracking a little aren't they?
It's not a fact anymore, they are rumoured now, and it's USWeekly (from its first article) that says they hooked up but they are keeping it casual. And the rumoured romance started after she broke off her engagement in January.
>>752 DM backtracking? WHAT? They've still got the fan pic as being in May and in Oxford. They don't know their heads from their asses.
As for the question marks, the whole rag should be called 'Daily Mail?'
>>753 haha I know it's a rag, but I find funny how they go back and forth with the story. A few days ago they were describing it as the love story of the year.
>>753 Well, so far it's been the love story of July 20 - July 26, 2015? (The question mark was an homage to DM)
We'll see what the future brings. Maybe it will have a few more glorious and romantic six-day stretches!!
The title makes me laugh. Is Luke trying to answer some questions.
Aside from rags and tabloids and VF, media that talk about film are accurately avoiding mentions of the supposed love story. Whether it's because they know there was nothing or because they were asked by PR, I have no idea.
Not that TH will be able to avoid the question at TIFF, or will he?
>>758 Maybe he'll use the Jedi mind trick...These are not the questions you want to ask!
And then there was one....
Possibly someone saw an announcement in the Telegraph as with the engagement? I don't know.
If it was this weekend then Lady PF was not there as she was getting busy at the freebie event in LA. That (if true) would presumably put paid to any suggestion that the relationship was a serious one.
>>760 Is that artsy-fartsy semi-liberal family announcing in the Telegraph? I used to live in the UK, and I thought only Tories and other wanna-be conservatives announced in the Telegraph. Interesting.
Lady Purse Face! Oh, she'll never live that night down in this fandom. And rightly so. Liz, darling, that man has a double first in Classics - put your purse down and show some damn respect.
>>761 the engagement was announced on the Telegraph, but there's nothing about a wedding in the news. Her fiancé is the scion of an important family, they are also in the peerage, so if he got married there would be articles about it. And he would have said something on his instagram, I think. That's why I was wondering on what basis the poster would say that.
And TH was spotted in Soho yesterday, but I have no links to give you.
Review of someone who went to the Boston screening of ISTL
"I saw an early screening of the film. It may not have been fully finished. I'm sure that everyone involved will try to put this in front of awards season, but they should really think twice. It left me flat.
>>764. Ouch. Maybe he/she was one of the people Brett Ratner was dismissive toward.
TH said he saw it and was proud of it, she repeats while rocking back and forth.
Beyond the personal taste about the direction and actors performances, those bits of documentary in between the film don't sound promising. And by cutting them out the film would result frammentary. No wonder SPC went for Miles Ahead.
Oh GOD. I know I have been the voice of doom about this being a dud but I secretly had hopes. Now dashed [sobs into iphone]
By the way even celebitchy is blocked out here. Even the daily fail sleb section. You are my only link to the outside world [sobs again]. No wonder their GDP is so high.
But hey it's not an unmitigated internet disaster as Weibo loads more quickly. Checks Torrilla. Oh. A picture of Loki coloured in with a tesseract ballpoint pen. Waiter! Another Cosmopolitan!
ISTL at TIFF
It is under the 'Special Presentation' category.
Interspersed can be good - in Band of Brothers they had interviews with the real survivors. And the title of the series came from one of them quoting from Henry V - and that was one of the most moving scenes of the whole show.
>>773 Those interviews were at the very start or very end of the episodes, weren't they, not in the middle of the actual stories? (God, it's been about 10 years since I saw BoB!)
If the story is being broken up by interviews with real people, that would be a little stop-start. The actors and scenes should move a story along, not documentary interviews.
Anon, do you want any news/updates? Or are you happy with pictures of Loki drawn with a tesseract pen?
God I can't remember. I watched it all back to back over a couple of days. Thinking about it, what made it moving was that you watched these scenes of unbelievable heroism, and then you see these little old guys and remember it was real and it was them.
>>775 let's just say I was a lot happier with the LokiColouring after the third cosmopolitan.
>>777 After three cosmos, I'm surprised you didn't do your own Loki drawing and submit it to Torrilla - along with a youku vid that started off with you slurring the words, 'I just want to tell you how much you mean to me, Torrilla...'
>>778 what can I say? Hotel Cosmo is long on cranberry but short on vodka.
And anyway torrilla refused to publish the vid because I was wearing my handbag on my head.
>>779 Oh, I was NOT judging! I'd be on double digits if I were on much-diminished internet.
Wearing your handbag on your face is all the rage, darling, haven't you heard?
>>771 Ah! now I want to see what happens on the RC! Doouble job for the man at TIFF, ISTL and HR.
>>781 I'm excited to see too, but also dreading the, what I'm sure will be countless, comparisons between how TH interacted with JC vs. EO. How he interacted with MW vs. EO. How he interacted with EO vs. GDT (his one, true 5ever love).
>>782 I've no idea about what 'special presentation' entails, but if you look at some of the other films in the category - I don't recognize any of them!
>>783 Imagine they don't even touch each other! Or they get close for a photo and then don't look each other in the eye and then....No wait what? CP will be at TIFF?
>>786 Sorry!! Didn't make myself clear. I mean comparisons between the two red carpet events - not both at TIFF, but when they both happen.
>>785 I can't waste data connection browsing TIFF website, but on TIFF's wikipedia page it talks of winner for FIPRESCI Special Presentation these past years. FIPRESCI means: Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique.
So it should be a competition, one that you don't want to lose.
Whoa - Don Cheadle came out of nowhere. I think a month ago, they had TH in 3/4th position. Remember, of course, that this is all based on some fairly preliminary info.
Some news on Skull Island. Including, shooting in Iceland and Vietnam - which is very different from the reports we've had of late.
Am I the only person who cannot take seriously a leading lady named after cheese?
>>792 Gouda one, Anon. I camembert it myself! No whey do I want to see her in that role. Curd someone tell us if it's short for something - Brieanne?
PS - I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your server. Goodnight.
Sighted...in pretty much the same outfit he's always seen in. Seems to be on the phone...with whom, inquiring minds want to know.
>>794 Well we know one thing, it probably wasn't a wardrobe stylist. Maybe his significant other, Olly.
>>795 Probably calling home to check up on his cowboy boots. At this point, they might have been away from each other for an hour or two.
From Hitflix about ISTL and TIFF:
"I Saw the Light"
Lowdown: There was some question where this late November release might debut and, much to AFI Film Fest's disappointment, Sony Classics decided to go with an earlier Toronto berth. Will Hiddleston join the best actor field? That's the big question surrounding this biopic.
>>790 that's like the 3rd writer they get. Hopefully the last. I think the Iceland and Vietnam locations are from old news.
TIFF: HR and ISTL Sept 10-20
Calgary Festival: ISTL gala (Sept 23)
San Sebastian Festival: HR (Sept 19-26)
Zurich Festival: HR (Sept 24 – Oct 4)
No confirmation for the cast presence at Calgary at the moment though.
"No other guests have been confirmed for the galas yet, but executive director Steve Schroeder says the festival has invited I Saw The Light cast and writer-director Marc Abraham for the opening gala."
To lighten up your mood guys.
Awww...:3 isn't that cute? Facepalm those fangirls from dragplus are just insane or its EO making a proposal to Tom lol.
>>801 That's a reblog from Celebitchy, who in turn somewhat tongue-in-cheek reported it from The National Enquirer
I can't understand how people can discuss this things on a serious level. Was there a fling or not, those guys- at least Tom - doesn't look happy and wanting kids in the photos the celebitchy "journalist" put along the "article". Or that is his special super in love face. Dragonfly Lord, babies, kisses, large and pink unicorns on a rainbow :3
>>803 Lex don't think that just because you changed your name that makes you anonymous. What I told you the last time stands, you want to post, post, but behave. Otherwise, go and open a blog of your own.
I was wrong, this is the 4th writer for Kong. And VF is no more accurate than Hollywoodreporter because the article says production is set to start in the first quarter of 2016
>>800 Oh, I hope he shows, and because it's Calgary, I hope he shows in full-on rodeo western gear: boots (obvs), bolo tie, leather vest, leather jacket with tassels, 15 gallon hat (because 10 gallon is for pussies), turquoise jewelry.
>>805 Poor bloke. That picture was taken very close to his home. No random encounter that. Someone hung around waiting to get that pic when he emerged.
>>805 It seems like he is a creature of habit - like a lot of people - so in the age of social media, it is fairly easy to 'grid' his whereabouts if you look at some tweets regarding sightings.
I'm sure she probably was hanging around with the hopes of running into him. She got her run-in, she got her smile, she got a pic - hopefully she's happy and won't make a habit of missing her tube stop.
>>807 Surely what you describe is not a million miles away from this hideous rhinestone cowboy look? http://cn.bing.com/images/search?q=hiddleston+1883&view=detail&id=A2C2407236F6514F234A7255405186A691536BA4&first=3&count=1&FORM=IDFRIR
>>810 More than a million!
Don't say I never give you anything. With bonus shirtless Native American Thor. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/12455336440176014/
I hate that photoshoot with a passion. Low rent Antonio Banderas photographed in a crack den. Here is the guilty stylist making it much worse: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma70wj5NPN1qe8a0fo2_r1_250.png
>>814 YASSSSS. But it needs more tassels. The eagle is certainly an improvement.
>>813 That entire photoshoot is so on crack. The only good thing that came from it is this
Is this considered a 'proper push' now?
Every time I see the potted plant photo I think I could photograph TH shirtless with so much better results.
>>818 No, it is getting a bit silly. Who has heard of half these film festivals, really? 2 weeks ago we were not saying "hey I wonder if it will open Austin."
TIFF: HR and ISTL Sept 10-20
Calgary Festival: ISTL gala (Sept 23)
San Sebastian Festival: HR (Sept 19-26)
Zurich Festival: HR (Sept 24 – Oct 4)
In the meantime, BFI London Film Festival (Oct 7-18) announced that: Suffragette will open the festival, Steve Jobs will close it, Carol will be the Festival’s American Express Gala.
>>823 I didn't add the BFI because I don't think they have announced HR so far.
And since we are talking about festival, no NYFF.
So are we waiting on (fingers crossed) for BFI-LFF and AFI?
This guy's good - Black Mirror, anyone?
>>830 I've never seen War Horse. Animal movies and war movies hit a soft spot in me and I try to avoid them - so, with a name like War Horse, I've stayed away! I'm certain it would be my kryptonite.
I found this 'article' interesting. What this 'media analysis' fails to mention is that TH's fans - like BC's - are many, have a strong social media presence, and tend to be rabid when it comes to twitter.
>>832 very true, twitter chattering isn't enough to turn a film into a good one, ISTL is a category where International Press decides the winner, if it falls flat that closes the season.
The article also fails to mention why there is so much eagerness to see TH on a RC.
>>832 And also, 596 tweets? In the whole world? As we have said many times before on this board, the number of seriously committed fans who make up that Twitter presence is tiny. He has 2.2m followers and 596 of them tweeted about ISTL!
Sorry 596 tweeted about him and a massive 514 tweeted about ISTL!
Has this been posted already? Since I've only been on this board for a month or so, it might have already shown up.
Anyway - this certainly looks interesting. No top for her, just a fur coat. A wife-beater and undone belt for TH.
Well, that was taken down quickly!
>>837 No you are kidding! I was just copying the link! Big plot reveal there I suspect. He gets caught cheating with prossy/backing singer/fur coat salesperson.
>>838 Why does it have to be one? Don't limit women! She can be a fur coat salesperson by day and a backing singer at night. Weekends are for going on the game.
You've come a long way, baby!
I don't think I should feel bad about posting it. Yes, she took it down from her IG once it started to circulate, but it had been up there for 43 weeks.
Shoving down Catholic guilt! Get down. Get down.
No it wasn't and thanks for posting it.
Actually, in case she takes down the tumblr post, here's the img link
even better here's torrilla's link and a larger format
Empire says that they start filming Kong in Oct but in Hawaii.
I hope someone in production does know when and where they start filming.
>>840 No I mean the girl who whose photo it was has only belatedly realised it was a big plot reveal and now taken it down which as you say is ridiculous if it's been up for months. Has she only just worked this out?!!!
We are big grown up fur coat salespeople here and we post everything - and we get it before tumblr and sometimes before Torrilla too I notice! Actually this has happened often enough that I think we have a few tumblr lurkers....
PS Am I the only person to think this is the first vaguely hot pic to emerge from ISTL set so far? He looks - tousled. And a lot more lively than all the photos in suits and slicked back hair where he looks skinny, tired and hungry.
>>845 I'm afraid I can only see how sunken his eyes are and how skinny he looked.
He wore the skinny a lot better in OLLA.
>>848 yes, because he was fit and not scrawny. I think HR will be the hot film for me.
>>844 It might not be a plot reveal. Maybe the actress did her scene and was about to leave when TH stumbled out of EO's trailer and she took the opportunity to get a photo.
But why no pic of the back of his head? That seems to be his best side of late. Kidding.
Am I wrong or since Pap Night we had at least one of this per week?
"Prepping Kong 😜 #kongskullisland "
On a hunch I'd say they start in Hawaii.
>>854 That's some early prepping for mid-to-late October? Is she maybe just on holiday?
>>853 Ahh, we'll always have Pap Night '15. A stone-faced TH, the scarf, the purse, the 'Tom, where are you?' in the voice of an 11-year-old. Good times, good times.
I fear no red carpet will ever live up to it...unless EO gets lost in the press corp and has to ask TH for directions.
And I quite like this photoshoot
He's going for that vulnerable look...and the boots are present, of course.
>>857 I'd forgotten about her brief love affair with the gate! With TH for company, it was probably the only time she got to talk during the evening.
Forget Chris Evans, the real third party in this relationship is Side Alley Gate.
So after the earth shattering walk on the footpath somewhere in the general vicinity of London, someone tweeted that they saw him at the gym.
Cue the masses...
Pavements, gyms, restaurants...where will Waldo show up next?
Gym so he can bulk up to defeat Kong or son of Kong? So he can work on his thigh muscles for his next pap stroll? So many possibilities.
Footpath was 2 days ago, Chelsea and gym (who knows where) yesterday.
I predict: drinking a coffee somewhere in London today (though it is going to be super warm)
>>864 I missed out on the footpath! I can't cope with all this excitement. Thanks so much for the link.
I predict...Hamlet today and a visit to his mother tomorrow.
I was joking about losing track but I am, by footpath you obviously meant that photo from behind from the stalker girl.
No .. the French girl was on another day. This was another footpath day ..
>>867 well, my memory is relieved, but damn, this reports truly have increased since Pap Night '15.
when it's the official opening night for Hamlet?
Tuesday .. but maybe he will have to get an underling to queue up for day returns with the rest of the proles ;)
>>869 Apparently - via twitter about two months or so ago (so, no receipts) - Mr. H. queues for his own day returns. A girl in the box office saw him in line. I think it was for J. McAvoy's recent play, but I can't fully remember.
'We've checked with key studio execs and Oscar consultants in order to get an early take and to clear up false scuttlebutt. As a result, for example, we can tell you to bump Don Cheadle out of your Best Actor predictions. Yes, "Miles Ahead" will unspool at the Toronto International Film Festival, but the movie will not be released wide till 2016.'
>>871 How reliable is this do you think?
What's interesting is that Miles Ahead won't be an Oscar film because of it's release date, not because of the quality (though it's strange since the film is also present at NYFF).
The lack of mention of ISTL might mean that the problems noted the screen tests are still present. The lack of mention for TH, or EO, is trickier, is it because other candidates are so much stronger or because they are not so good?
>>872 You've got the memory I want, Couch!
I would think he might want to skip the excitement (read: craziness) of a BC opening night. There's a lot of crossover in the BC and TH fandoms, so it might be a bit of a busman's holiday if he goes opening night, rather than slips in at a later date.
>>873 Your guess is as good as mine. 'Key studio execs and Oscar consultants' might just be the office Magic 8 Ball for all we know!
Maybe SPC is going to do a slow burn for MA. Premier/show at a few film festivals and then give it a second push when it goes into theatres in 2016.
>>874 haha thank you, this is why I like links, for when we don't remember - I also doubt he'll be there on opening night, but since he has a busy Sept. he might go before he leaves for TIFF, a second option would be before he leaves for Kong.
>>875 It's the fact that SPC owns both movies that leaves me confused. Given their similarities, music biopic, if MA gets released in 2016, why not push ISTL more now and leave MA promotion for next year?
I guess with ISTL will just have to wait and see what's the reception of the press.
English thespian Tom Hiddleston is set to portray Hank Williams Sr. in a soon-to-be-released biopic entitled I Saw the Light. Williams' grandson, the aforementioned Hank 3, has openly criticised the casting of a non-American actor in the role, despite Hiddleston's astonishing resemblance to his grandfather. What does Jr. make of it all?
"I have heard of some of the cast members, but I haven't met them or seen any of the footage or work on this movie just yet... I am waiting to see it all done so I can then see how real it is."
>>878 It does, although I have my doubt he will change his position about it given how vocal he was.
I found the title of this article a bit too affirmative since SPC hasn't released any official statement, so I went on SPC website, and in the coming soon section for their movies MA isn't listed http://www.sonyclassics.com/
>>879 Hank III was the one who was vehemently anti-Tom. I think this may be the first time Hank Jr. has said anything about the film, or at least the first time since it was announced.
>>880 Yes. I didn't read the article thoroughly, but it looked like every other actor and film mentioned was treated more positively than ISTL.
>>881 Yes, I also think it's the first time he comments on it, but I'm taking the lack of critic as a sign of lack of material. Since he hasn't seen the film he can't really say much about it.
>>880 I don't think 'improbably' is meant to be a type of non-compliment. It IS an improbable role for TH - non-singing Brit plays singing Southerner. Most of D. Day-Lewis' roles could be called improbable - a lot of actors/acting roles could.
>>884 sounds like HR is as disturbing as it can be and then some.
Improbable is a bit of a silly word to use, I feel, because as you say that's acting. I am particularly surprised people have got their knickers in a twist about the idea of a British person playing someone from the South. Idris Elba and Domonic West starred in The Wire and nobody said that was improbable, yet the Baltimore gang dialect seems to be so hard to understand that even American friends told me they watched with the subtitles on.
James Purefoy posted some release dates about HR on his facebook page, but it's merely a screencap from the HR's IMDb page so I'm posting IMDb's
So, it's a bit calm today on the TH front, but guys, I had such a terrible nightmare last night with him involved, I'm still under the impression. I don't even know, will it be weird if I post it here? I neeeed to share, lol
>>889 I say go for it. This could be the first unofficial meeting of the Tom Hiddleston Nightmare Therapy Circle.
OK Stands up My name is qaz and I have nightmares about TH hangs head in shame
So, I’m dreaming that I’m just at home in the evening, everything is as usual and feels pretty real. Then suddenly TH is there, but I instantly realise that it can’t possibly be true, so I’m like “Dude, I know you’re a dream or a hallucination of some kind, you can’t really be here”. He seemed pretty surprised about not being real, lol, but whatever. Anyway, we talk, and laugh, and he’s telling some story, and there may or may not be some kissing involved - i.e. it feels good, we’re having a nice time, so I think to myself that I may as well enjoy it, whatever weirdness this is.
>>891 Oh my god, that is terrifying. One minute you think you're about to get it on with TH, and then suddenly there's a creeper in your bed. Dreams within dreams are the worst.
>>892 Yeah, it was scary, and that was the first dream in a dream I've had. Thanks for the support, that Therapy Circle feels like a good thing :)
I'm one of those people who hardly ever remembers dreams - or maybe doesn't have them that often.
Listening to your dream turned nightmare - I'm glad I don't!! Creepy.
This may have been posted elsewhere, but here is TIFF info for those who might think about going/getting tickets.
So, ISTL premiers on the 11th and HR on the 13th.
Sooooo, the $64,000 question is - will EO show up on the carpet with TH for the HR premier.
>>896 My prediction: they walk the carpet together for ISTL and he goes alone for HR, leaving room for some fresh "are they or aren't they" speculation.
>>898 It seems like whatever this venue is at TIFF, ISTL will just be one of several films, whereas it would have been featured on its own or among a much smaller group at Telluride. So I guess it's a less "special" presentation, more likely to get lost among the other films at the same venue, and gives the impression that it's not important enough (or good enough) to be presented individually.
I've said it before, I don't really care about nominations, awards or the Real/PR/FWB relationship - I just hope all his performances and movies are well-received.
If they aren't, we might get more strange Facebook/Twitter postings.
>>901 Even if ISTL doesn't go over well, he's at least got High Rise and Crimson Peak, both of which I'm expecting will be very well received. But, it would be a shame for him to have put so much effort into ISTL and have it not be appreciated.
>>903 Agreed that this is the most likely. He won't want HR to be all about the relationship. As for ISTL I also doubt they will present as a couple. Body language will be interesting. He is very touchy feely with co-stars he adores (Tilda, Jessica). I expect he will be unusually remote, for one of three totally indistinguishable reasons: never were a couple and doesn't want to further the wrong idea, have broken up /decided not to take it further after PurseGate, are still a couple but want to keep it under wraps.
>>904 what recent sightings? haven't heard anything after the Pursegate.
I guess he will be distanced from her. as much as it's possible nit to seem rude- though what more after his behavior with her at a PurseGate lol. they weren't a couple, even if they had a fling that doesn't mean they were a couple.
>>904 I suspect they must both be busy doing interviews, photoshoots and fittings though
I mean recent sightings of him in London.
>>907 oh I we now, I thought Pursegate woman was in London again.
basically I agree with you, because if there's is such a deep lurve going on why isn't he with her or she with him lol? I supposed he answer is rather simple.
Wow a lot to reply to, but first things first, a little update on the festival calendar:
TIFF: ISTL Sept 11. HR Sept. 13
>>896 >>897 >>903 >>904 Over a month past Pap Night '15, I think that we can all agree that it was EO's PR that dropped those stories.
EO has a special bond with US Weekly - as anon1 told us - the tabloids insisting on it were Americans, but most of all SPC didn't work that angle to promote the film, so that rules out TH's PR. If we figured out that much, Luke and TH did too.
>>904 I go with your first option and your PS is one of the reason.
Here's something funny I read at the bycycle.
Someone posted that Mansell sent a message to JA on his instagram&twitter to support her during the TH and EO hoopla.
I checked and the instagram post is this one and was posted on July 21st https://instagram.com/p/5ZgCQzP4RR/ and he writes
"clint_mansell@janearthy For me, for you, for us. 07.31.15"
>>914 God that's just stupid... if Clint says "for me" it means he was dating Tom too according to their logic or is he th defender of JA honesty and purity lol. Avenger Clint.
I just stumbled upon hilarious article from kpop drama something about Tommy and the Purseface "soon settling down" because "they are inseparable ". I can't hold my sarcasm to myself, I just want to ask all this people if they are blind or what? sure, inseparable. he probably flies on a magic carpet to her in US singing Disney songs with Hanks voice lol. jokes aside, but people don't even bother to check the facts anymore, anyone can write what they want and how they want and stay safe.

About the festivals, BFI LFF will announce its program on Sept. 1st, while the Zurich Film Festival's on Sept. 10th.
>>912 She and her people surely planted the story in US Weekly. That's a given at this point. However, the question is would she have planted them without TH being in on it? Surely, it's questionable professional practice (entertainment and PR business) to plant a story about a relationship with 1/2 of the couple not knowing about it. I mean, I know it's Hollywood, but baby Jesus that would be bad!
>>919 somehow I feel it was her and her only. and then she would make a poor face (Purseface nd gateface) and "It's not my fault, Tom, where are you ".
>>919 The first one, possibly. The second one, I have my doubts. Which may partly explain why he seems to have run a mile!
>>912 I would agree with JA - that was a slow burn of a relationship (probably not straight BF/GF, but something more like FWB/FB). Still, it seemed to last for more than a year (pre-Wimbledon '13 - BoraBora '14). After that, zilch on the radar for JA, except for conspiracy theorists.
>>919 If he were in on it then this past month makes no sense. If you are going to use your relationship for PR you don't go under radio silence, besides it's not like he was coming off with a good image, I would hardly pay my PR agent to make me look like a homewrecker that took advantage of a young, up and coming actress.
>>922 He was away for half of that year so make it 6 months, during which he spent 3 busy with Coriolanus. Sian, I wasn't around either, what I gathered is that in 2012 she was with him very often, private screenings, restaurants, premières, tennis tournament, tweets to each other, then zilch on the radar too. Which I always found strange if she was just a friend like everyone says.
>>922 forgot to add, that I do think Sian was a friend, but the only reason I can think of for her "disappearance" is that maybe she wanted more because otherwise, as a just friend, what she could possibly have done?
>>915 Yeah, when it comes to kpopstarz or kpopnews, the K stands for crap.
Their articles seem to be cobbled together from internet sites, including message boards. They once quoted 'a source' from Celebitchy.
>>923 It makes no sense if the articles were planted for a purely PR relationship, correct. But if they wanted to introduce their real relationship AND put out a timeline that ruled out an 'affair' while she was engaged and ruled out a relationship that caused the end of her engagement, then planting those stories seems reasonable. It's the: Yeah, we're trying to have a relationship, but we need to manage the timeline' theory.
>>921 The boy can run - literally and figuratively it seems!
>>914 If I were JA, I wouldn't need a pep talk about survival, I'd need a lesson in how to stop cackling about TH and EO.
Let's be honest, if there were a scoreboard, JA would top EO - easy.
If anything, TH will defo deliver a less tan HW than George Hamilton!
>>927 Despite all logic you still think they are dating? Or its just to make some people angry lol?
To be honest things you just say don't make sense. because whatever theh do he still looks like a homewrecker. and you know... man in love doesn't act like he acted. so NO, THEY ARENT A COUPLE.
>>927 First article I am totally with you. Second article in my view may have been part of a previously agreed strategy, but in its execution looks to include some wish fulfilment from her side that he may not have been expecting. Same with the Pap Stroll. May have sounded like a good idea in advance but he looked thoroughly hacked off when it happened. I think it is because he is neither fish nor fowl here. Most British actors don't engage at all (you would never catch eg McAvoy or Lewis playing such games), whereas the Americans take it as read it is part of the game. TH tries to do it American style but does it badly. Engage, mess up, step back is a familiar routine for him (not just re love life).
>>927 She is American, of course they are going to blame it on the English, they are the bad guys by definition :)
"We know there are a bunch of issues on the site right now, we're working to resolve them all. And yes, we'll remove Crimson Peak!"
>>933 'You're just so sneaky.' Said in TH's Top Gear American accent!
>>932 'Second article in my view may have been part of a previously agreed strategy, but in its execution looks to include some wish fulfilment from her side that he may not have been expecting.' Agreed!
'Same with the Pap Stroll. May have sounded like a good idea in advance but he looked thoroughly hacked off when it happened.' Agreed! I don't think she played along as was expected...why, who knows, especially if she had agreed to it, maybe even spearheaded it.
>>936 Something about Pap Night caught Tom off guard. He seemed pissed, and I think her strange behavior was in response to him being angry or not reacting in the way she was hoping.
>>932 'TH tries to do it American style but does it badly. Engage, mess up, step back is a familiar routine for him (not just re love life).'
Truth-to-power! It's like TH and Luke are going through the steps of some American PR manual.
>>937 The tweets from the theatre said they were 'cozy.' The definition of which really depends on the speaker, but still denotes some affection - even just friendly affection.
So what happened at dinner? Did she try to eat some of his dessert? That is NOT done, sweetheart.
>>939 Do not try to get between Tom and his puddings. It will only end in disaster! Lol.
Maybe everything was fine until the paps showed up? Maybe she called them and that was a deal breaker for him.
So i lose .. no show at Hamlet on Tuesday night.
>>941 Was there a bet? It's always possible he went in disguise! I bet he kept his Thor 2 wig. That and a fake moustache...voila.
>>938 THISTHISTHIS is exactly what I meant. Happens ALL the time and not just recently with Seneca:
>>938 I'd love you to guess what I do!! I am back now - hurrah! Escape from the land where everyone smokes constantly and never opens a window. Not an easy place to be confined to an office.
TH it strikes me needs quite delicately managed PR because his fan base is unusual - being the darling of tumblr etc. IMO Luke does this very shitly, often on a reactive basis and seemingly leaving TH to do his own thing (badly). I thought PR was meant to be proactive. We could all do a better job!
"Insight Editions Releasing Crimson Peak: The Art of Darkness in October"
"'Straight Outta Compton' Star Jason Mitchell Lands 'Kong: Skull Island' Role"
It could also be that no PR was involved on either sides.
We were playing prediction game for TIFF, I simply wrote one I thought nobody would pick and added reasons that nobody would use.
I could have just as easily written "A months after Pap Night '15 with nothing happening it's clear that USWeekly exploited its previous exclusive with EO to make up a click-bait story about her and her co-star using the Oscar buzz around ISTL."
>>948 I could agree with no PR if it had just been US Weekly and a few outlets picking up the pap pics from the restaurant.
What reeks of PR was the Just Jared exclusive - even outside of the DM getting an article up and video.
>>949 yep, that's why my prediction is based on the one-sided PR. And yes all we have are conjectures. My point is that I only wanted to add my predictions and you all ganged-up on me! Boo! :)
>>950 Ohh, we didn't mean to gang up on you. At least, I didn't. I can't speak for anyone else - especially Anon - Anons without punctuation are trouble, not nearly as nice as Anons with punctuation!! ;)
I personally love the conjecture and counter-conjecture and crazy-conjecture (some of which is mine!)!! Let's never stop that!
And as far as crazy conjecture goes - someone over at LSA joked about JA showing up with Clint Mansell for the HR premiere.
Now, THAT would be EPIC.
>>953 and to make it all more perfect, TH shows up with an official gf.
>>954 WHAAAT! How could you take something so perfect and give it more perfecterness (totally not a word, except in this one situation)!!??
If this happens, I will personally hold TH responsible for the damage 24 hours of continuous laughter does to my spleen, liver, stomach and both large and small intestines.
>>950 Nooooo. Nooooooo. I didn't want to gang up on anybody. I have reread the whole thread back 100 posts and I must confess I am not actually sure what your conjecture was or how we have disagreed with it, just that AnonWithDot and I have been sharing the crazy about what passes for PR more generally in Luke n Tom's little world.
"UK and Canadian distributor Soda Pictures has acquired the Canadian rights to Ben Wheatley’s High-Rise."
PS by way of grovelling peace offering, this thought: I have realised we have been using the wrong terminology. It is not PurseGate. It is surely PurseGateGate, isn't it?!!
>>957 You are right I was kind of neutral before my TIFF's RC prediction, I only took a side to write one and picked the one with less support ;)
After all, someone who wouldn't be able to take advantage of a child can't also be a mastermind planning his PRred relationship outing months ahead, and then act like he doesn't like it.
Actually forget JA and EO and the whole damn lot. All I am thinking about now is whether on the TIFF red carpet he'll give the schlong its freedom again.
>>963 FREE the Hiddleston 1...ummm, Free the Hiddleston 3.
>>963 I mean when he does this he is taunting us deliberately, isn't he?
I've just seen that High Rise is rated 18A. Does that mean we might finally get to see the peen?
There is so much in HR that could be 18A that I have no idea. It could easily be Luke Evans' willy. Or the incest, or the dog-eating, or so much else!
Maybe I stand alone here but I kind of don't want to see. It's fun to laugh at it struggling for liberation on the red carpet but I'm not sure I want to see it waving at me from gifs on my tumblr dash forever more. Kind of destroys the mystique.
>>969 If you want to do research, this one is quite impressive :
Not to sound like a total perv (hahahaha! No really that ship has sailed, Anon, they all respond) but the man really is a stranger to what we call pants on this side of the Atlantic. http://lokismonstercrotch.tumblr.com/post/87587601306/i-was-surprised-by-the-apparent-lack-of-this-gif
AND HE WANTS US TO KNOW IT http://loki-doki-artichoki.tumblr.com/image/51588751445
Ok I'm stopping now.
>>971 That gif is positively hypnotic...but it's also such a tease. Because you look and look and look, but it's so hard to figure out where it ends, and thus estimate its length!!! Sooooo frustrating!
Why show it, if we can't determine specifics!!!
>>973 I am admiring of the devotion to virismilitude - it is Slumber Party with Josh Horowitz and obvs one doesn't wear pants underneath pyjamas.
Verismilitude. Pah. Blaming the jet lag.
We interrupt our regularly scheduled perving to bring you an ISTL update from twitter.
The 35th Atlantic Film Festival:
They like that preposterous hat?
Worry about the weakness of award season offerings. Not sure if this is good or bad for TH and ISTL.
'Two American show business biographical dramas stir some interest: Jay Roach's Trumbo, in which Bryan Cranston portrays blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, and Marc Abraham's I Saw the Light, a look at Hank Williams (about which the least can be said is that, based on photographs, star Tom Hiddleston looks like a near-dead ringer for the late country singer).'
From the same article:
'It's well known within the industry that Stephen Frears' The Program, Terence Davies' Sunset Song and Ben Wheatley's High-Rise were turned down by Cannes, although the latter is one of a dozen films in Toronto's new competitive category, "Platform," seven of which are world premieres.'
TIFF: ISTL Sept 11. HR Sept. 13
Calgary Festival: ISTL gala (Sept 23)
San Sebastian Festival: HR (Sept 19-26)
Atlantic Film Festival Halifax, Nova Scotia: ISTL (Sept 17-24)
I suppose Tom will be able to attend only couple of those festivals. I bet for Tiff and Maybe San Sebastian or Zurich. Skull Island starts shooting on 19th of October so I suppose he will be working.
my bet for RC is no interaction with Olsen, or simple friendly interaction. since they aren't a couple.
I repost these links because they uploaded the trailers, though they aren't available yet
>>984 Ah yes, one of my favorite crap journalism techniques - we can say whatever we want as long as we put a question mark after it!
Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen attending festival together?
>>985 Tom Hiddleston to attempt moon voyage in hot air balloon?
this one would be so cool! haha
>>985 lol can't agree more.
Twitter nannies are the main providers of crap in my life...
I like the idea of the moon voyage. Serenading everyone on his guitar :)
As an aside, I really like this quote from Ben Winshaw about actors and acting.. a gossip board devoted to a celebrated actor is probably not the best place to post it but..
"Whishaw prefers not to discuss his personal life, saying: "For me, it's important to keep a level of anonymity. As an actor, your job is to persuade people that you're someone else. So if you're constantly telling people about yourself, I think you're shooting yourself in the foot." In 2011, he told Out magazine: "As an actor you have total rights to privacy and mystery, whatever your sexuality, whatever you do. I don't see why that has to be something you discuss openly because you do something in the public eye. I have no understanding of why we turn actors into celebrities."
>>989 I think he knows that Whishaw is right, because he has said in the past that he understands the interest in his personal life but basically won't say anything. And yet I think he also wants to be a movie star, and he knows that to be that you have to create the media buzz. And I think he enjoys the celebrity and at times hates what it brings. He wouldn't be half the star he is had he not danced for the crowds in S Korea.
(Continued). I feel sure he enjoys performing and showing off a little and being adored. Who wouldn't? But then people perhaps don't take him as seriously as an actor, and his private life is subject to constant nosing. What choice do you make? It must be incredibly hard. Whishaw is respected as an actor but does he have as many career opportunities?
I'll take your word on Whishaw - not really a fan. I wasn't sure that BW had quite the leading man status yet - maybe someone like Eddie Redmayne is a better comparison with TH as he has the lead roles and the Oscar. ER has certainly achieved the balance TH has not - introduces his girlfriend, walks her down the RC like a normal person, then announces his recent wedding - no paps.
it depends whAt you Are interested in. for some he is just an actor, for some something more. it's the letter of where you put yourself- in an audience or in one row with him where actually things go different. you CSNT claim any of the party.
Are these new? New to me. TH's hobnob love is mentioned, as is a new ghost story.
>>985 He could complete the voyage WITHOUT a burner engine. He'd just recite Shakespeare or go on endlessly about how awesome the movie Heat is - it isn't - and the balloon would fill and float in no time.
>>996 Fortunately in space no one can hear you scream. Or play the guitar.
>>995 I think they are from this month's Empire magazine. I have to go to the supermarket later. Will sneak a peek.
>>995 can you give a normal link to whatever it is? it doesn't open.
>>992 I think he is genuine when he says that acting is his job, that he wants to keep a low profile - probably one of the reason he looked so pissed on PPG - that he is not interested in the circus of being a celebrity. And I also don't think there's anything wrong in dancing and the rest while you are promoting a film, since promotion is part of his job.
