Thread to talk about the actor Tom Hiddleston.
Seems appropriate to declare this thread open with....Michael K!!
It's all solid gold but he says this of the photoshoot:
"And here’s more pictures from Tom’s Interview spread of him looking like a leather daddy dom who’s about as threatening as a bunny in a bonnet and whose idea of rough play is tickling your sides until you say the safe phrase, “Remember you wore that tank top?” That’ll make Tom immediately stop tickling you because he’d need his hands to lay his face on as he silent weeps."
I showed them to Mr Anon, by scrolling through the Torrilla pics.
At first he was laughing so hard he was having difficulty speaking.
After some more thought Mr Anon asked, "is this becaus his publicist has failed with heterosexuality?"
Holy fucking fuck, those aren't dungarees (translation:overalls).
That is a leather APRON (translation: gaypron).
>>7 Now that I've seen the photos, they remind me of the images in the 1974 Italian erotic psychological drama film "The Night Porter", with Charlotte Rampling and Dirk Bogarde. After WWII, a Holocaust survivor and the Nazi officer who tortured her in a concentration camp, resume their sadomasochistic relationship after their chance meeting in a German hotel. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? Anyway, I think that I understand the pics, now. I get that Hiddleston enjoys pushing the boundaries of how he is seen by the industry. Maybe he just wanted to step back from the teeny bopper Marvel and Swift brigade? Unfortunately, that won't happen until Loki is done, and Swift pics a new fake bf for them to focus on. Hmmm...His PR team confuses me a times. But I'm just a civilian.
>>3 GOLD! Safe phrase! Needs to cover his face while he weeps! Hahahha! The unsolicited definition is my favorite! Because it really irritates me when he said it.
Oh good, the seated photo is TH actually wearing real police gear. From Jamaica. Anybody think that it is a tad tasteless to get a white guy to dress up as a nazi and in a black policeman's clothes in the same photoshoot?
>>10 Yes it is but they were probably betting that the number of people who knew that was from Jamaica and who would see that would be low. I didn't know. I'm actually more disturbed by the fact that he looks like he's in the Third Reich in that photo.
The timing of this shoot is interesting as it took place in NY immediately after SDCC when I believe operation extraction began.
Luke's heavy involvement is confirmed by Interview Mag Entertainment Director's reply tweet;
Randi Peck @randipeck
S&M Tom/ Ken doll "best looking guy in bondage"
>>12 How does everyone know the timing of the shoot? Is it the reference in the interview wishing BC a happy birthday? (Late July).
You will know better than me how long it takes to arrange these things. It still seems pretty quick after the disaster of 4 July, but I guess every magazine in the world wanted to interview him at that time.
>>14 In the interview they say the phone conversation happened in August. "In August, while filming in deepest underest Australia, Hiddleston got on the phone with his friend and Marvel-mate Benedict Cumberbatch to talk about the perils and potential power that comes along with the public eye."
>>14 Every shoot differs but from conception to an agreement amongst all involved about the look and layout it's usually a week or two depending on the rush. Then you need to allow another week or two for location scouting/ sourcing the wardrobe/ locking down a date when everyone is available. So a month is a generous amount of time to pull it off and a fortnight is doable if someone is in a mad rush.
>>15 thanks - my eyes had glazed over to the extent that I failed to see this...!!!
>>16 And also thanks for the inside line. One of the myths peddled by the stans (especially on CB) is that these things take MONTHS to organise meaning that for example the underpantze editorial was in the pipeline in 2009 or something and had nothing, repeat nothing, to do with desperate thirsty Bond shenanigans.
The interview took place on Cumberbatch's birthday. Tom wishes him happy birthday.
>>17 Months. Ha!
As much as I hate to admit it, in June/ July, TH was half of the hottest (dry ice hot) couple in the world. It's more than likely TayTo's notoriety gained him this cover editorial and Gucci and there may be more perks to come.
I did have a peak at what the stans were saying and it made my blood boil. They really harp on about issues they know nothing about, it's mind blowing.
>>19 So I guess from this that for an interview photoshoot (as opposed to a fashion campaign) the talent knows and approves the concept from the start? Surprise.
I mean, did people really think that Demi Moore was told by Annie Liebowitz on the day, "yeah we are photographing you naked and pregnant for the VF cover"???
>>17 >>19 Eh, too many people think they know fashion magazine publishing after watching or reading 'The Devil Wears Prada.' Some things take a long time to set up, but many, many things don't; as you say in >>19 it's 2016 and they can plug and play the content up to the 11th hour before committing to publish.
>>20 Whenever I've worked on a shoot with talent of some notoriety my designs/ ideas have required approval from them or their team as well as the photographer, stylist and art director. That's why they have a team and take them to the shoot to once again protect and oversee their image.
The document that is drafted from these signed off designs becomes the run sheet for the shoot, complete with a hilarious blurb emoting all the feels surrounded by our selected reference images.
>>21 I'll be the first to say I don't know shit about publishing. I only witness a portion of pre- production (but I do receive a flurry of repetitive and dull emails) and my big day is the day of the shoot.
Let's face it, not every magazine is Vogue. I think they would have more forgiving timelines but surely everyone who's watched the film knows they also rush through last minute deadlines.
>>16 Cumbersome was the second interview of that kind, when Anon. mentioned apophasis yesterday I remembered that Horowitz did the same when he introduced his post Emmy nomination phone call with TH. So I think these interviews were Team Tom's idea, executed by his buddies so they could steer the conversation were they wanted. Cumbersome didn't even do an interview, he did an illustration of TH's resume.
>>24 Yes. Benedict's birthday is July 19, so this interview was probably just the first time Tom had spoken to him since then, likely early in August.
>>25 Horowitz even said something similar when he introduced Tom's segment on his podcast, now that you mention it - he announced that they wouldn't be discussing Taylor Swift.
>>27 Yep, and I think Josh actually said that that wasn't what Tom wanted to talk about and that he also didn't care.
>>27 I had completely forgotten "Taylor Swift and I are together and we are very happy".
Between Horowitz, Comeontits and Idris and Helmsworth's bro- sandwich, TH has had a very delicate landing while retaining a strong headline presence.
>>29 How could you forget this line, the greatest declaration of love and finding The One since Edward VIII's abdication speech! I bet it took him several hours and more than one advisor to come up with that sentence: suggestive of a real relationship but not an outright lie. TH is nothing if not a semantic tinkerer.
>>16,17 All of which goes to my point and to the points of others on this board and across the fandom: he needs to say 'no' more often than he says 'yes' because neither him nor his people know what they're doing. The Gucci shoot is one thing, it's paid work and high fashion. These pics have nothing but 'nope' written all over them. Agreeing to this idea was a mistake, even if a softball interview was thrown into the deal. Never agree to wear a leather apron for anyone...unless you're a butcher.
>>29,30 Oh ladies, you forgot the second half of the quote, the one that makes their love ring true: "That's the truth. It's not a publicity stunt."
According to some sad fans on twitter, TH finally went on a blocking spree but he inadvertently blocked a devoted fan and forgot to block some of the super badass ones.
Maybe he does read his mean tweets after all.
>>35 Looks like he did also block some of the crazies. One was saying "but I haven't tweeted him direct for aaaages." As if this showed normality! And she was also asking that hate acct Taylor's Next Song if she had been blocked. Showing what company she keeps....
>>36 I read one saying she deserved to be blocked, a few others were shocked they weren't and one was in tears because she hadn't mean tweeted.
I can't believe it's taken him this long to block the meanies, maybe he read the replies for the first time ever and got a bit of a shock.
>>36>>37 Looks like some of them are getting pissy at getting blocked and now tweeting and tagging Luke in their rants. I can't believe he wasn't already doing this. I don't believe that he hadn't read his mentions or replies before. I think he did but it's probably the first time he's standing up for himself. Good for him. Or his team. Whoever did the blocking. Only downside is that it's gonna make the other crazies even crazier in their mission to kiss ass and get Tom to notice them and get a Twitter follow back.
>>38 Does this mean we'll see a genuinely authentic Tom now who voices his own opinion and doesn't give non denial non answers?
I can't tell what this Twitter business means. Maybe he's finally looked at his notifications/ replies and has gotten a short, sharp shock and done what most people do with unpleasant internet people: tried to make them go away. Maybe he wants to block the haters and clear up the muddy waters of his Twitter account, and thus maybe his fandom's decidedly muddy waters.
oh look guys, we got mentioned as haters on a certain blog https://tmblr.co/ZnIWmn2CnAxlN
We're just so terrible, hating on good people out of sheer jealousy. I knew people lurked on here but damn, didn't know we were part of the good ol' "well you're just haters" club.
>>41 WTF? We are the same group as the people who have been tweeting abuse and stalking him on social media?? Has she not been reading the board? We have repeatedly said that tweeting him directly, even about hiring an interior designer or about having the same hairdresser, is nuts, and that the abuse he gets from twitter crazies is vile.
We're famous! I knew we'd make it big.
>>41,43 I can't link to tumblr at work, so I'm assuming it's the astrology blog. I admit to being 'a hater' - urgh, are we in middle school? - of hers simply because she, on a few occasions, called out the TheoAnons blog and those anons for lying and being anti-TH, while declaring that her astrology readings were accurate and totally reliable. I should note that TheoAnons never gave credence to any of her anons and always posted with a good dose of salt and amusing commentary.
>>44 Did she? I didn't see that. No bueno.
The real criticism of us is, I am sure, that we dare on occasion to criticise TH. I notice that they still come here for a read even though we are "haters."
>>45 She did. This was early on in the blog. I guess TheoAnons posted a few pro-Theo anon messages - no big deal; she didn't present them as fact or support them, just posted them and commented on them. Someone told the astro lady about them and she was not happy. Who knows why. A few people reported it to TheoAnons. TheoAnons laughed it off and rightly pointed out that it was criticism coming from a woman who purports to predict TH's future by kinda knowing when and where the stars were when he was born! :/
>>41,43,44,45,46 Clearly Thiddy glances over here but either fails to comprehend or skim reads..
This is by no means the first time she has thrown rocks in the wrong direction and it's the reason I stopped reading her blog. She was way out of line with TheoAnons and we did call her out here which is most likely the reason we are top of her hate list.
>>47 PREACH!!! Yes! Blogs like TheoAnons and TOD had their faults but they provided the fandom with anons, funny/intelligent commentary, TheoAnons had some proper 'exclusives' with twitter sightings and IG pics. TOD did the same, one brilliant one from anonsy. We here do the same. We post links, exclusives and intelligent comments - not to mention properly funny comments. We offer something; Miss Astro does not - here or on her own blog. She'll lurk here, and criticize but that's the extent of what she offers. One of the anons on TOD mentioned that ever since Astro was catfished by a crazy fan - to the point where she called the local police because she thought the fan was going to commit suicide - since then, she just accuses everyone who criticizes her, TH, Tayto, her 'readings,' etc. of being that catfisher...that incredibly busy catfisher! Talk about delusional.
>>48 I'm not going to argue the validity of one blog over another- each to their own. What I can't comprehend is the mentality of someone who suffers the wrath of a catfisher and then propels all that misguided hate towards others.
I feel she would benefit from some OM's in an ashram while contemplating her life choices (and take TH along too while she's at it).
>>50 Well, Tom started following that actor from Fast and Furious and he said he loved the movies a few months ago. Maybe that is his next project. Good Lord! I hope not.
>>49 I tend to look at content as a indication of validity. It doesn't need to be quality, or even my cup of tea, but if it's a fan blog, it should add or contribute to the fandom in some way.
>>51 I hope yes! He'll be someone's British cousin. He'll drive a jag, of course. His main storyline will be him learning to drive a LHD car in a RHT country - how gripping and suspenseful.
>>35 I wonder if he also blocked that crazy fan who tweets loads of sexually explicit content about him.
>>54 In all my twitter journeys, I've not come across that acct.! I would say as long as it isn't 'being a meanie,' then he probably didn't block.
Does anyone know if the spate of blocks came out of those replying to his Song of the Day tweet? I'm wondering if he threw a little hissy when people responded negatively to one of his more popular schticks: 'I'm doing what you want and you're still being mean, well fine then!'
>>55 People responded negatively to his song of the day? I didn't see the replies.
To contextualise the last photo shoot, here's an article about the photographer.
>>57 Over on D-listed and ONTD a few were saying that this is Klein's thing. One or two were singing his praises and suggesting that TH said 'yes' to the shoot because you just automatically say 'yes' to Klein. And I say: no. Whatever his reputation in photography is, this photoshoot was more comic than edgy/artsy-fartsy with TH as the subject.
>>58 I've come across that one- I'm not a prude but have been seriously shocked by some of her posts.
>>57,59 Klein is one of the worlds top fashion photographers and this is not the first time he's made a celeb look ridiculous (although the heavily photoshopped cover shot is gorgeous). I think the difference is that the celebs he's photographed before have had personas/ roles which touched on Kleins aesthetic, whereas TH is fairly off- brand.
Some will say those gloves are for lifting. Nope. Now that he's discovered 'the leather life' thanks to Interview mag, there's no going back. First gloves, then it will be leather hats, shorts, a mesh top. It's coming.
>>62 That's not usually the outline we see in that outfit
I notice the article gives the lie to the old "TH never has control over his photo shoots" claim, insofar as it says that with Klein they don't - but that his is very much the exception to the rule.
>>61 Those gloves are comical. Not least because he can't be lifting very heavy given how skinny his arms still are.
Also, he brought his iPad to the gym. What is he doing, sitting in the bike for half an hour watching telly?
Klein is a great photographer the way Terry Richardson is a great photographer: the right connections and fashion/celeb people pretending their crap is art.
>>64 hahaha he was watching fitness tutorials on youtube.
Torrilla has other photos from the day after the gym: he needs new vneck tshirts, with all that workout the old ones are now a tad too short. I can't decide if he is still smoking and that shape in his right pocket is a pack of cigarettes. Also, I don't know if it's the photos but is hairline seems to have taken another step back.
>>66 I say no to ciggies, simply because you don't keep your soft pack in your jeans' pocket unless you want snapped ciggies. He'd have a soft pack in his jacket pocket.
Wallet? Small pack of tissues for when he realizes what he did this summer? He must remember The T-shirt and just start to sob, right?
>>66 Let's be honest, his hair is only going to go in one direction at this point. But he could make it so much better if he let some of the curl come back and let it curl around the hairline rather than scrape it back.
I can with some confidence say that he's having it chemically straightened. As someone with curly hair, nearly as curly as his, you don't get that style without blow drying it out After washing or getting a Brazilian blowout type procedure. And blowing it out after every wash is a pain, and not something I see him doing.
>>67 The tissues make sense, lol
He was keeping something of that shape even when his true love was meeting his family in Suffolk; Anon and I thought it was ciggies because he had everything else in his hands. And he was smoking at Selena's concert.
>>68 Yeah, I know that genetically speaking that's clearly his future and I'm hardly faulting him for it, but the speed at which is happening is why it stood out to me.
I can't for the life of me understand why he insists on straightening his hair, it just makes him look older. Curls suit his face so much more.
>>70 When I used to complain about my curly hair, my abulita would say, 'Anon., God gave you the right hair for you.' As if he were some cosmic hairdresser! But she was right.
And it's definitely the case with TH. Here's a man who looks older than his years and has a receding hairline, but he has curly hair. Some curls coming forward around the male pattern baldness areas would trick the eye into thinking he had more hair than he does and would soften up his face - voila, 5 years whacked off. In fact, I don't actually think he's lost that much hair - stress levels aside - in the past few years; I think the severe hairstyle and overuse of product makes it look like he's lost a lot of hair.
>>71 Yes, I don't think his hairline has changed much. What has changed is the shorter hair and the straightening/product usage. Piling product onto your hair in an inept way will make it clump together and look thinner. A few weeks ago (the last week before the Brazilian blowout?) it was curling round his face and looked so much better.
I've been curious about that scar on his upper lift.In some photos it looks small but in others it seems to end at his nose. Today I decided to do some research (thanks Google) and this photo seems to confirm that the latter.
>>74 Sorry, I forgot to include the link to the photo:
They say you've made it when you make it into People. I don't think that 100% accurate, but so far, TH has been in People for Tayto and nothing else...until now.
He actually is pretty cute in these pics. And not a pair of furry slippers, a pair of underpants or a crazy bondage outfit in sight.
While the tumbleweed rolls through this fandom I'm rolling out a speculation I'd usually keep quiet.
>>78 That was one of my favourite photoshoot ever, he ruined even that for me. But the cat is still gorgeous.
>>79 I think it's almost certain TH is in LA. I'm doing a praying circle for Tayto having dinner together, just for the lols, but he will likely show up with Beardy, his new bff. The number of reshoots are not a good sign, at all. (the twitter account of the Hawaii guy is now reelnewshawaii)
>>79 Good spot!! You get the photos on IG by searching The Lot Studios as a location, not their account (or I did, anyway).
Not a good sign for SI, though, surely? Anonon, maybe you can shed some light as to how common reshoots are, or reshoots of this apparent magnitude. I see Brie is there....and reel tours showed both the helicopter and the boat, so this doesn't look like a 5 minute job.
TH is in the new Newzoids 8th October episode, wearing the Loki costume with his bum exposed, alongside Cumberbatch/Dr Strange and Idis Elba/Luther. Oh dear.
>>80,81 Thankyou both for correcting my lazy references. I was on my phone while supposed to be working and couldn't be specific.
I gather TS has now flown the coup and sadly I doubt either of their management teams would ever allow another splendidly candid TayTo dinner.
>>83 Wasn't there another one where they made fun of his English countryside? In that case he was auditioning for Bond.
>>84 Kong was a 5 months filming wasn't it? How did he (the director) get things wrong with so much time at his disposal is beyond me. This film had better be perfect or it'll be the biggest flop of 2017.
>>79 You must be incorrect, Anonon. They can't be in LA as both TH and TS wouldn't be able to step outside their respective hotel rooms/private planes without being papped by photogs and those pics being splashed on every tab and mag in.the.universe. They are just that famous. :/
>>88 I'm starting to wonder if TH has become addicted to private planes. How is he flying un- noticed? How will the insanely intelligent one rationalise their respective invisibility?
Aguirre is one of my favorites. Herzog would never stick a monkey on it and I can't imagine any of the SI actors throwing a Brando or going as method as Klaus
>>89 He always managed to fly under the radar before Tayto so I bet he's doing the same now. We had plenty of airport and flight tweets but not every time. Maybe, maybe studios are paying for private planes, especially for reshoots, so as to avoid disruption to T:R filming, but I'd bet he's flying commercial.
>>90 I think he is flying commercial and incognito. He was doing this with few pap encounters until he started filming SI (when there was an actual welcome party waiting for the whole cast in Vietnam, so it doesn't really count). When he was going to and fro in April he got papped a lot, but I now interpret that as his US publicity calling the paps. Same for TayTo. And now TayTo is over - back to flying incognito.
I've left the naughty language in because we've all heard it, but maybe the link is NSFW because of language?
From a Dlisted post about Bond and DC:
He's leaving LA
>>94,95 Shitty Island is already starting to stink.
His ability to go incognito now, after the summer mess, proves Anon is right, when he was papped at LAX prior to TayTo it was his team calling the paps.
>>96 I think the fact that he's taking night flights to and from Oz has something to do with it, too. Most celeb pap shots from LAX are in the daytime. I think there were a couple occasions where his team called the paps to the airport - the pics of him in his cowboy boots carrying his guitar come to mind - but I still think a lot of them were "natural."
>>97 I agree it hasn't been him calling the paps all the time - but during the publicity tour for ISTL it seemed to happen a lot - it is hard to distinguish as he was wearing basically one outfit but I do remember him being papped arriving at DC before the Correspondents' Dinner and a couple of other airports where you might not expect paps.
>>96,98 yes that's the period I was referring to, before that I agree with you anonsy that it was mostly by accident, but since April it happened a lot and now all of a sudden nothing at all.
>>98,99 Yep. Reagan International. No paps there usually. For what? To catch congressmen alighting from a trip home to the constituency? Unlikely. And he was, of course, carrying his guitar like the HW wannabe he was during that press tour. A promo tour which Anon affectionately calls the 'polishing a turd' tour.
Laughing at the delusion manifested in this post. Apparently, because TH managed to get in and out of LA without being papped that means we were wrong and evil ever to call him a famewhore. http://angelsseb.tumblr.com/post/151662536470/tom-was-in-la-again
>>101 This comment represents the difference between 'fan' and 'stan.'
This comment also represents the difference between fully realized, capable-of-rational-thought adulthood (what we practice here) and those who (whatever their age) simply play at being adults. As as adult, you own your shit. And you expect - demand! - the same of others. For several weeks this summer, TH was a famewhore. And when the consequences of said famewhoreing turned unpalatable, he proceeded to imply that Joe and Joan Public, and their pesky cameraphones, were responsible for the Tayto promo tour. That is not 'adulting.' And when his fans do the same, it is also not 'adulting.'
>>102 Other places where completely unsolicited photos can be taken:
AMCC/BBC trying to maintain Night Manager buzz heading towards the Golden Globes nominations, etc.
Creator's lament over Hiddlebum: Writer who adapted The Night Manager for TV attacks the 'utterly absurd' reaction to the sex scene
>>105 God they are desperate. Author says popularity wasn't about the bare bum, it was because people are attracted by the primal force of sex scenes! So it wasn't the nudity, just the sex that made people watch. Give me strength.
>>105 Ha! Creator's should think about an adaptation where someone in 2015 physically stole documents instead of taking pics or scanning them. Creator's should also remember that if people want sex they watch youporn.
>>106 Wasn't that the time when TH ran to mommy (the director) because Le Carrè was being uncooperative and she told him that she wasn't going to tell a single thing to Le Carrè?
>>108 He did take pics of Roper's documents and text them. I was watching it again recently - that's how I remember. What I had forgotten or not picked up initially was how wooden TH was at times. "That passport was MINE. Give it BACK." He was so much better in almost everything else he has done. Maybe it was the writing ..
>>109 But not Sophie and/or Jed. My bf laughed at Roper not having at least a VPN on his island, actually he went as far as saying "what kind of villain doesn't even have these days?"
He was wooden, but the series was packaged so well it was easy to miss at first. I wish we could blame it on the writing, but TH was executive producer so...
>>111 I feel kind of stupid for missing it. In our reviews on here we were much kinder, but watching it again while cooking dinner, without a large glass of wine in my hand and on a small screen it didn't hold up at all well. Maybe I was distracted by him getting shirtless in every episode and lying in bed Thinking About Things.
>>110 Maybe he EMOTED...a...PLANK. Or Emoted A PLank. :)
I'm always aware of actors acting. I have problems with pausing reality. Of the current crop of British thesps, only Rylance and Lesser are able to make me believe they are their characters. Coincidence that they aren't 'overexposed' like so many others? Don't think so.
Is this a joke?
>>115 I didn't watch ISTL, but I think Hank Williams got injured in a fight not long before his death. I'm assuming this was in the movie.
>>115,116 More than a fight a very short brawl, I'm surprised something of that sort even required coordination.
>>115 I SAW it and can't recall any fights/stunts. He kicks a chair, is that considered a stunt? Dancing? Surely not.
>>115 Didn't he repeatedly open and close his garage door at one point?
>>113,118 Those cogitating while shirtless moments were THE BEST. What undercover spy doesn't constantly think in the moonlight, arm/s behind head to show off the bicep/s, naked, half covered by a sheet showing 10-15 (no fewer, no more) pubic hairs? That's just how spies think!
>>121 Hank is doing a gig, Audrey and his mother are chatting, and then a fight starts between Hank and someone from the audience.
>>120 Stunt! There's a right way and a wrong way to press a button.
He also shakes a bit in his recovery bed. 'I need you to shake to the left, then the right, Tom. That's how Hank would've dried out.'
If you watch the credits all the way through, you can probably see "Nipple Perker to Mr Hiddleston" and "Armpit Hair Groomer to Mr Hiddleston" among the crew.
>>124 H8er. You're propagating the belief that he's gone all Hollywood. It's not true! Tom has always perked his own nipples. Always. Yes, even when he was with Taylor - that's one of the things she loved about him. And he's an Aries with Scorpio ascending which means that he enjoys grooming his own armpit hair...as it's the only hair he has left.
>>125 Yeah I am a hater. You simply do not get high resolution nipples like this from amateur, self-perking: http://freckletriangleofdoom.tumblr.com/post/151712693021/maryxglz-pecs-and-heaving-abs-and
>>125 HAHAHAHAHA! "And he's an Aries with Scorpio ascending which means that he enjoys grooming his own armpit hair...as it's the only hair he has left."
HAHAHAHAHA! Omg I don't know what's funnier, the astrology diss or having only armpit hair.
>>126 I feel there's a fan fiction in this. A simple country girl is picked for a very special job on the set of Thor 6: 'Tom couldn't get her out of his mind.. Yes, she'd started off by perking his nipples, but now she was also perking...his heart.'
Pics of TH arriving at Brisbane airport are on Torrilla. Questions:
1) Do we still think his hair is straightened because that is some serious curl in the first pic?
2) New personal assistant?
>>129 1) I have no idea anymore
2) The one he hugs? I think it's the same guy he hugged when he landed in Brisbane with TS in July. (is it Beardy that I see behind TH in the first pic?)
3) I only see two devices + passport and one of the two devices I'm pretty sure it's an iPod touch.
TH casually sitting outside being papped eating lunch, wearing his standard ensemble by the dailymail. All about the TS split, and how he wanted the relationship to be public. Faux relationship, faux breakup, can we please move on? The dailymail probably just wants clicks, but really?! I just want to know about the future entertainment projects, not PR BS.
>>131 Maybe he has his main phone and then an additional phone for whatever continent he's currently on.
>>129 Still going with chemically straightened. If you look at his hair when it's curly, even when short, it doesn't curl softly. The curls are tight. Chemical straightening, which I had once about 4 years ago, doesn't remove all the curl but relaxes it greatly. I think this is what's going on here. But maybe he's just blowing it out to some extent. Maybe some brave journalist will ask him about his summer of 'not having curly hair.'
>>133 I agree that the paps were probably called. Plus, the restaurant, the Social Eating House + Bar, is the exact same spot where TH picked up takeout, allegedly for he and TS, when he was papped with takeout bags, wine, and pellegrinio, on the night before the Kimye Snapchat gate! He probably wanted some PR love, and didn't want to give the press access to his private regular hangouts. For the record, TS was never ever seen at the Peppers Broadbeach Hotel. It was only just "assumed" by the dailymail that she was staying there at all! Crazy. You can see the Peppers Hotel in the background if you google the restaurant. The menu looks expensive for a grill and bar, but tasty.
All of these are possible. Also: he was creating hundreds of fake accounts in order to give himself positive comments when the DM article hit.
>>133 I thought it was three - one in a black case, one in a bright blue case and one in a pale blue case.
>>135 The hair in that pic is solid. It may not be possible for his publicists to talk him down from aggressively straightening it as the evidence suggests he has been doing it for a long time: https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/339458890641568896/

Tom added: “I have been a fan of Nick Park and Aardman for as long as I can remember, (he always is, he is a fan of everone and everything that ever comes his way, I bet he was a fan of TS, up until August)
>>141 How long do we think it will be before he compares Lord Nooth to a Shakespeare character?
>>142 Probably the times it will take him to have an interview about it.
>>139 At what age does an actor become too long in the tooth to be called 'cute'? Because the commenters on his IG are killing me with the emojis, ILYs and other teengirl exclamations. It's as bad as his Twitter feed.
>>144 It isn't determined by the age of the actor but by the age of the fans. Recently he got quite the injection of immature fans. They'll stick around until TS moves on to the next contract. Their heart-eyes will also stick around.
>>139,140 It's the grown up version of TPF. I'm not a fan of animation, not even good animation like Wallace and Gromit.
I'm interested to see how the veranda reacts to the story. They are desperate for Shakespeare or a rom-com, or just anything that proves that his rep and cred haven't been harmed by the summer of contractual love. Will they be satisfied by this and jump on the bandwagon: ER is in it and he has an Oscar, so it's almost like TH has an Oscar! Or will they be disappointed because it isn't highbrow enough and they won't get to see his ass in it?
>>146 When I saw it announced I had 2 thoughts: firstly, it is voiceover work. Pretty small potatoes for the exciting new project he has been teasing for 3 months. Secondly, his part in Thor 3 must be tiny if he has time to do this on the side. I wasn't aware of him doing other stuff during the filming of the three previous movies.
>>148 "basically fate repeating itself, Redmayne on the elephant, TH as leg" Ooohhhh OUCH! Damn Couch! But that was a good one. I'm sure TH said that to himself too when he saw what role Eddie had.
>>149 haha it's TH's fault for saying this is his first time working with Eddie =P
I had a little squiz over at the Swiftie blogs to see if there's any news from her concert. Aside from doing a soundcheck of the song she ghost wrote with Calvin then changed her mind, this quote sums up the excitement on stage:
'i really love taylor so much i love everything she does i saw a tweet that she blew her nose on stage and it just made me feel so proud of her. she’s so talented. nobody else could ever blow their nose as well as she can i jsut know it. i’m love h er,'
"I wrote this song, but you've never heard me play it" - Taylor Swift introducing This Is What You Came For
Seems all the petty is being directed at CH. What a miserable cretin she is.
Apologies for the triple Swifty posts but this is just too funny and I'm having my first day off in 16 days
>>153 No it gets even better. Here are two little Swifties and their dads. The dads are wearing "I ❤️ TS" T shirts. They are actual dads. TH the metaphorical dad must be dying. http://wthanon4u.tumblr.com/post/152177389645/dee-sweetea-gitsie007-kaleidoscope112
The animated movie is a good temp gig for Tom. He probably is holding out for a good leading man script offer following when the Golden Globe nominations are announced Dec 12. He could get two of them, Best Actor Musical/Comedy for ISTL, and Best Actor Miniseries for TNM. The Summer shenanigan will have dissipated more from Hollywood minds by then.
>>153 That's true, nothing easier than to re-arrange the song so it'd be easier for her to sing. Jared Leto does that all the time (that and having the audience sing most of the song)
>>154 LOL so that's why he was wearing that tshirt, he knew that after dad dancing at Selena's concert that was his destiny.
>>155,156 He - and his ubiquitous 'people' (more on that later) - may very well be waiting to see if they can grab some meatier roles with a GG nom. And good luck with that. I can see one for TNM, ISTL seems a stretch
>>158 An ISTL nomination could happen just because there weren't any tier A musicals released this year with big budgets and big stars. No Les Mis, no Into the Woods, no Chicago, etc. Just saying strategically it could happen for that reason. There were some well crafted performances in ISTL, but sadly a poorly written script, and it was oddly paced. Great intentions and passion from everyone, but sadly, not the most well crafted film.
>>159 Don't they just select comedy roles when there haven't been any good musicals? I don't think they're required to select a musical. The only musical performance I can see slipping in is R Gosling for La La Land, which looks all sorts of magical, but I don't know if its release date will make the nomination cut.
>>160 Joaquin Phoenix won in the musical/ comedy division for I Walk the Line, and Jamie Foxx did for Ray. Those were not musicals or comedies in my opinion. But maybe the rules have changed since then.
>>159>>160 Lala Land makes the cut for this year's musical and comedy category. It was premiered at all the film festivals and promoted heavily by both Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. It was marketed as a musical, they call it an homage to the musicals of yesteryears and it's honestly a really good film and ISTL is nothing compared to it.
>>162 Also Don Cheadle for the Miles Davis biopic, also a Sony Classic Pictures release. Was introduced at TIFF last year along with the others you mentioned.
At the movies to see Dr Strange: http://lolawashere.tumblr.com/post/152237222562/steven-oliver-on-facebook-so-my-day-included
I hope they spent as much on the script as they did on viral marketing: http://hiddlescheekbatch.tumblr.com/post/152244729524/hiddlescheekbatch-hiddlescheekbatch
>>165 that's not how HW works anymore. You skimp on the material and throw money at big Ames, SFX, marketing, and then awards campaigns if the movie is good enough. Suicide Squad, anyone?
>>164 He is looking thin through the legs. No more comfort/stress eating from the summer. Also, I guess filming burns more calories than showmancing/stunting for paps.
Taika Waititi tweeted that he had only 2 days left so I guess we will be seeing wrap party pics soon. Followed by a return by TH to my shores.
Strangely familiar looking nude painted by Sandro Kopp, who is Tilda Swinton's partner and who has painted TH (before):
>>169 don't they generally do the wrap-up party at least a week before wrapping up because otherwise most people wouldn't be able to join? I bet it was last week when Feige was there.
I putting my money on TH stopping in LA for a little while, if he had something planned for the months between now and Shitty Island promotion, it would have been announced by now.
>>170 I'm going to go with not him for the reasons I saw on a recent tumblr post: he's not doing the Thinker pose (how I hate thee raised arm/fist!) nor is he wearing an I <3 TS tee.
My own reason: it was painted, not captured on a cellphone.
>>172 That's the difficulty with modern life. Everyone has their artist's palette out all the time.
>>173 'I want to answer this question honestly and authentically. I want to give you an answer.' (Wringing hands so that they start to smoke)."Ummm, ahh, umm, hmmm, listen, everyone has a phone and every phone has:
>>174 "Smoke from hands sets off the studio alarm"
Well that didn't take long. Thor wraps up and Swifties are celebrating a Hiddleswift reunion since supposedly Taylor's plane went to London this weekend and Hiddlestoners on Tumblr are on alert watch, preparing for the worst, hoping for the best. And as usual logic and basic understanding of how time zones work has no room in the mind of a Swifty that's filled with Taylor trivia.
>>178 Rose is an option, those with brown undertones. Charlotte Tilbury has some great roses. I wear Stoned Rose often. Amazing Grace, a tea rose color, gets me compliments as well.
>>178 She's probably off to meet up with Ed Sheeran? who supposedly writes half of her songs or she's doing this in Jolly Old.
>>179 Lol I put that question in as a joke but it worked out because I went and tried out Stoned Rose and Amazing Grace and I fell in love with both! Funny how that worked out lol
She probably can't understand why Billy Shakes won't return her emails or follow her on twitter and IG even though she's the top earning pop star and is a songwriter and has won multiple Grammies. Probably decided to go to London to talk to him personally at one of his plays.
>>180 I never joke about lipstick. It is sacred and must only be discussed with reverence and seriousness.
'Tree, get Shakespeare's people ON THE PHONE. Just do it! I need a new, smarty pants British boyfriend and everyone's always talking about Shakespeare.'
>>182 "Yeah whatevs. So did the previous one, remember?"
>>183 'Tree, we'll just get him some plugs. Put that clause in the contract: free hair plugs. I don't care what you have to do, Tree, I WANT THE REANIMATED CORPSE OF SHAKESPEARE ON MY PAP-ROCK BY NEXT FRIDAY!!' (Goes off to hug cats aggressively because they're the only ones who really love her.)
>>181 These Charlotte Tilbury lippies are certainly sacred that's for sure! I also bought her foundation and her mascara...holy mother of makeup... Don't know what it is but her makeup looks amazing on me. I feel so good right now, even this shitty Monday can't bring me down.
All the noise on tumblr over Taylor's supposed London trip this weekend has made it to Lainey and from there to NY mag's snark. Sounds like the Tumblr Swifties emailed Lainey with the London trip and a Hiddleswift reconciliation. If true, round two of that shit show so close to the elections is going to be nauseating. Unless Taylor wears a "I heart Billy Shakes but all I got was Tom's receding hairline" shirt.
>>186 My sighs have returned.
In my world there is one king: the source. The source tells you mostly everything you need to know about information. Remember when Anon couldn't find the source for the kissy hand pic? It looked like it had been taken by a non-pap, that it was capturing a natural, beautiful moment between The One and The One. But then Anon should have been able to find an origin source. Nope. Same with those inside the Vatican shots. I looked for the origin source for those - couldn't find it. Dodgy. The lack of an origin source with these pics suggests the info is planted.
>>187 That having been said, the small, terrible monster that rages inside of me (NOT my unborn child) would maybe want them to get back together so that I could watch Veranda, Crazy Smart and their like descend into madness.
There was never even proof it was her plane that went to London, just a plane of the same model (or according to one anon on tumblr, not even the same model - just a similar one). And now we have multiple articles about it. Those TS fans are out of control.
>>189 I know how to work the plane tracking app thanks to a colleague. But to see if her plane landed at Stansted, after the fact, would mean running back through all of that day's landings. I'm not willing to devote an hour+ of my life to that. Her crazy fans are on point when it comes to tracking her, so I would bet that she did go to London. Whether it was for TH or for the reanimated corpse of Shakespeare remains to be seen.
>>190 I looked when it first happened so there wasn't much to go through, and there was no tail number on the F900 that flew into Stansed from the New York area, or on most of the other dozen F900s that were flying at the time. From what I gathered she's been jetting around to her usual music recording cities over the last month, so it's more likely she'd be in England to meet up with one of her British songwriting buddies, especially since the F900 has already flown back to New York and there wasn't enough time after the last Oz Tom sighting for him to even get to the U.K. before it left.
Happy SwiftyWeen everyone!
I am far more excited by the boards devotion to Charlotte Tilbury, what great taste in makeup you have.
The Light Wonder foundation is my kit staple along with the Filmstar Bronze and Glows. Throw Aesops Fabulous Face Oil on underneath and you have luminous skin du jour.
>>185, 192 My hoity-toity MIL swears by Charlotte Tilbury. I received the large lipstick wardrobe for my birthday and became a convert. Haven't tried her other items as I tend to only wear lippy and mascara.
I gather TS was in NYC for a Halloween party (according to her Insta or something). My tumblr feed tells me that the swifities are now saying she collected him from London and took him secretly to NYC. I give up.
Well, while I do think TH has some masochistic tendencies (as this past summer clearly proved) I doubt he is suicidal.
Anyway, TH was in OZ at the time of this photo https://www.instagram.com/p/BMLgP-EgEWS/
I guess this could be a continuation of the showmance narrative. We already suspect that she sent her plane cross country to make it look like he travelled to see her for roughly 48 hours in August. I didn't want to believe that he faked getting on and off that plane but I just don't know. I really don't know.
>>196 If he faked going to RI in August then there's only one thing I need to know: who got that present he was holding?
My idea, based on her friend's interview and the fact that she didn't fly to LA to meet him halfway, is that TS dumped him and he ran to RI with a present to convince her otherwise.
>>197 If she had dumped him and he was flying to RI to win her back, he probably wouldn't have been using her jet.
>>198>>197 Yep. RI was faked. They just had to appear to meet up, not actually meet up. It might have been a book for a dream new project, or a belated present for one of the Hemworth family bdays. You could see a slim build in navy pants that looked like TH near the cake in one of the pictures posted by Chris or Elsa, at their bday party at the beginning of the Thor 3 shoot, and TH mentioned that he hadn't bought a present yet for Chris's recent bday, and it was Elsa s bday that day, I think.
>>198 Haha, he could have asked her to meet to talk it over. Mind you, I don't care one way or the other, but then who paid for that flight from Brisbane to LA to fake a meeting? TH? Surely not Marvel. Anyway, it would only make him look even more like an utter fool.
>>200 air miles, I guess.
I think, but am too lazy to check, that the trips to LA had always some other non Tayto related reason (such as Comic Con). I don't think he ever flew out to the states purely to stunt with her.
>>201 it wasn't ComicCon, that was in July, this one in August. Anyway, I'm too lazy to check too and not that interested anymore.
>>203 It was for Emmy campaigning in August. He did a load of interviews with Variety etc.
>>197 There was something in the bag. A little slip of paper that read: I am playing the part of a present bought for a woman playing the part of a girlfriend by a man playing the part of a boyfriend.
Yes, that slip of paper graduated from RADA also. That's why we thought it was a real present! It had the best training money can buy!
>>205 The piece of paper and Tom first became friends when it was playing a toilet roll wrapped round Luke Evans in High Rise.
But could they become more than just friends? Hmmmmm. Now that Tayto is no more, and Tayto Two, Tayto-ier, is nothing but the collective wet dream of thousands of Swifties, could Tom find love with a simple piece of pressed wood pulp that doesn't own a private jet?
Sorry if I sounded a bit rude here >>203 guys, I think I worded it badly. I didn't mean I wasn't interested in your comments, only that my disinterest for TH is such that I didn't feel like checking.
>>204 So AMC paid the flight and TH added a fake a meeting just to break up two weeks later. I don't know, anything could be really, but I would find easier to believe a fake meeting if it had been TS flying all the way to OZ to be papped strolling around in Brisbane.
Gossip Cop denies Hiddleswift reunion:
>>209 TS was never going back to australia. First, she just had go get out of the country during the Kimye Snapchat tape takedown. AND, after they returned to LA Tom's agent, Luke and the West Coast Rep for Toms management Team in NYC at Comic Con, and then his manager in NYC and his Soho lawyers together with NY based Marvel wrangled him and pulled Tom out of Swifts narrative of date night pics. Thats why TS raced back to Nashville after one day for the Hillstone pap night, the last time they would ever appear anywhere near each other, deemed by Team Tom.
Thank goodness. Team Tom just woke up and denied that he and TS are back together on Gossip Cop. Team Tom is learning, learning a bit slowly, but learning.
>>210 Would ya look at that! Luke finally understood how PR works. It's like a Christmas miracle!
SU possibly best movie of 2017. Possibly.
Excuse the source. TH apparently now back home. Yet another instance of him making it across the globe by plane without being seen or photographed. http://insanely-smart.tumblr.com/post/152778814558/now-londonhome-guess-he-was-out-for-a-late
>>216,217 Ah! When all of a sudden one doesn't solicit unsolicited photos for the Unsolicited World Tour, one can travel anonymously.
Back in ma hood (well, within a couple of miles): http://hiddlesfashion.tumblr.com/post/152824168507/tom-hiddleston-in-primrose-hill-november-5
Has a beard.
Some time last week there was a tweet stating TH and Eddie Redmayne were in Bristol at Aardman studios to do voiceovers for animated movie 'Early Man.' I was unable to post the link back them, and now I can't find it. No picture, only the mention by someone involved with the studio.
OT: Election Day!
Dear American friends on this board: I hope you all are able to vote and I wish the United States a peaceful, stable and unifying outcome. xx
dicks out for Harambe
Oh god I don't even know what happened last night. Rural America has some serious power with all its bigotry and prejudice.
I'm numb and speechless, and sad, and pissed AF.
It's not the US only, at this point it seems like the whole world is repeating the same scenario. In my minuscule irrelevant fuck of a country I read comments gloating about how "now f-ing liberals will see that the world is against them", etc.
A little something to cleanse the palate. Here is a picture of TH (new to me) wearing a hat stolen from a homeless person and a coat stolen from a flasher. Come back crazy "styled by yours truly". All (well, some) is forgiven:
And, from the "would attend the opening of an envelope" department, news that Tom will be presenting an Evening Standard award this weekend: http://www.standard.co.uk/goingout/theatre/evening-standard-theatre-awards-2016-tom-hiddleston-joins-star-cast-of-presenters-a3393311.html
>>227,226 I'm grateful for envelope opening Tom to erase the jarring picture from >>226 which bears a striking resemblance to one of my best friends whom I am very much not attracted to. At all. No no no no. How can I unsee this?
>>224,225 2016 just keeps coughing up winners. Despite legendary deaths, unfathomable relationships and dubious political manoeuvrings, most people I know, myself included, have had a dreary yeary. I'm optimistic that while things could possibly worsen, they sure as shit can get better.
>>228 In which regard: RIP Leonard Cohen.
I know what you mean - I have had an utterly shitty 2016 for various reasons. But if I were a famous person, especially a musician, I'd be seriously worried that the man upstairs had it in for me.
Avec beard and poetry book: http://wthanon4u.tumblr.com/post/153041210140/loki-fanatic
The man knows not the notion of "holiday". Or "incognito." I was hoping for his sake he would take a month and go off somewhere and not do awards shows, or tweet, or anything really.
>>230 I thought that too, about the holiday and the incognito, but maybe it's because he has nothing lined up, or nothing soon. Then again, he had such wonderful holidays between June and July =P
This Allie Esiri is the same woman of the Love Book app from year 2013, so it seems like a favour to her - cynicism kicks in - while also being beneficial for him, since it gives him this aura of being humble and normal again. The Evening Standard Awards has probably the same purpose, after all sooner or later he had to go back out there in the UK and pretend he is a serious actor who did NOT have a showmance with a pop idol who can't breath without lying.
>>231 maybe I spoke too soon. He has arrived at the ES Awards but failed to walk the red carpet. No pics available.
Here he is at the post awards dinner. I think this is a self-done hairdo (clue: less product and it looks better). With bonus Ken Branagh looking like Mr Toad.
In fact stepping out with 2 people from UNICEF. Possibly the documentary is about to be finished?
>>235 I was wondering, is the dailymail pushing TS's name into every article in order to get more clicks, like they did with the Evening Standard awards? And did Team Tom call the paps today to take pics of the UNICEF meeting with the UNICEF workers, including his blonde colleague to separate his narrative from Taylor's? I guess a lot of the Ginger and White cafe pictures in general are/and have been organized by Team Tom from the start. I now have to question everything. So annoying. But, congrats and luck to the whole Night Manager team for their Critics Choice Awards nominations for Hugh, Tom, Elizabeth and the show. I fear it's the year for the People v OJ, at least in the US. The Bafta tv awards should work out better for TNM.
Well his time in ma hood was pretty limited! Already he is back on the West Coast. Arrived at LAX I think yesterday. Looks seriously pissy about the photographers and we have video (!) of him walking to his car:
>>236 I think it's fair to assume the tip of this UNICEF meeting at G&W was by TeamTom, how would anyone at the DM know that the girl was a UNICEF worker? I suppose it was an attempt to change the narrative about him and having his name connected to something other than TS.
>>237 TNM promotion for the Critics Choice Awards or trying to land a role? Or both? Maybe he'll hire another agent!
Funny, I've just written he is going to be asked about TS no matter what and bam, paps at LAX did just that, no wonder he looked pissed. But, hey, he only has himself to blame if all poeple can remember about him right now is his summer showmance.
>>239 I didn't have the sound up - no wonder he looked cross.
The DM didn't know the woman was from UNICEF - that was found out by Torrilla who posted her name and previous pics of Tom with her. They went with the "Tom sees mystery blonde" line, at least initially (they may have updated later).
>>240 I read that and I was in 2 minds whether to post it.
I read on a theatre board some woman who said she started the rumour unintentionally. She had got tickets for The Ferryman and she said on her tumblr account she thought it would be a great project for him. One of her followers was one of the super stans (I think the super clever one), who then repeated it and said it must be true because he met with Sam Mendes a while ago. Since then t has gained a lot of traction.
>>241 I must have read the updated version then, because the DM article now calls her "his UNICEF colleague".
>>242 I read it in the last CB's thread about TH, this is the link to the comment http://www.celebitchy.com/512292/tom_hiddleston_was_seen_out_in_london_with_a_mystery_blonde_hmmm/#comment-15282322
Oh joy. He is on Kimmel tonight to premiere the Shit Island trailer. Hang onto your....toilet paper.
>>244 It's too much to hope Kimmel will make some TayTo related jokes is it? It will only be niceties about Shitty Island:
Kimmel:"Oh, it looks amazing"
>>245 My goodness! TH just made a very brief appearance on Kimmel dressed as the ape from King Kong! The bit was that Guiermo tricked him into coming in costume, and TH chased him off of the stage! Thank god it was quirky/charming, and there was no time to ask personal questions! I think if Tom avoids the red carpet questions at the Globes and just walks inside like he did at the Emmys, he can charge into the Kong promotion this spring, without the summer madness haunting his every turn.
Hysterical video from the E news staff saying that Hiddleston wins the split with TS, because his life has gone back to normal! The host said both the whole alleged relationship and the contant press coverage was ridiculous, and made TH look like a toy accessory, and not a grown man. So Hiddleston is winning by working hard and keeping his head down and staying off the PR grid. And by contrast, although TS is incredibly financially successful, TS is trapped on defense, and her image as a vanilla pop princess took a huge nose dive because it looked like she switched up bfs so quickly, in a dishonest and obnoxious way, since people thought that all of the pictures of her were annoying. Wow. The bloom is off the rose. The press aren't scared of TS any more, and they're starting to re-embrace Tom again.
So here you can see the supposedly funny bit
My version was more fun :)
Here's the trailer brought to Kimmel by by circus monkey TH
I hope for them this trailer isn't everything that's good about this film because.
>>248 Well that's one way of avoiding questions about his ex... RUN!
Your version was hysterical, I much prefer it.
>>249 It's not entirely shit, in fact I will go so far as to say it's cinematically spectacular in a rich 70s kodachrome way that may just be enough to distract me from what looks to be a clumsy plot amidst flat jokes and explosions. Not to mention TH covered in sweat and dirt wearing what looks to be his current everyday wardrobe minus the jacket.
>>250 Right! The things he'd do at the moment to avoid an interview.
My "because" got lost somewhere between my brain and the keyboard. I agree with you, the special effect and photography looks great, but a trailer where the character that stands out is a secondary one (John C. Reilly's) compared to the two leads doesn't look good in terms of acting and plot. I'll wait to see what the critics say before paying a cinema ticket, March has a lot of much more interesting releases.
E! declares that Tom "won" Hiddleswift. You'll have to watch the whole video for the comments, they're not written.
Their summary is, while showing him arriving at LAX yesterday in front of going to Kimmel, is that his life is back to its boring normal after the image damaging relationship - he's out in public and hardly anyone knew who he was, less than a half dozen camera around him. Meanwhile TS has been on the defensive for months and didn't escape the taint of the Kanye issue, the questions about how soon she got with TH after Calvin, etc etc etc.
I just finally at the SI trailer. Damn his body is beautiful, but I still don't give a crap about the whole King Kong story.
Hi! Does anyone remember whether Tom was seen carrying a copy of The Voyeurs's Motel, or whether people just assumed that Tom would be in the film, since he met with director Sam Mendes? Thanks!
>>256 It was suggested on tumblr that it may have been what he purchased when he was spotted in the bookstore in L.A. when he asked the employee not to reveal what he purchased, but he's never been seen with the book. It's a fantasy cast for a few blogs on tumblr but it's all speculation.
Michael K comes through with quotes about Hiddleson wearing the Kong suit on Kimmel. The comments are interesting on dlisted. It seems as if everyone is still traumatized by the PR summer madness.
>>258 the comments are always funny, I give my prize to this one
Very nice compliment in the DM from Thor's Lady Sif played by Jamie Alexander. Tom, 'is really lovely and such a gentleman. He's a serious actor with immense talent.'
It's nice to know that TH's peers respect his countenance and his work. And no meention of summer madness: ) Refreshing.
"Add Tom Hiddleston To Ben Wheatley & Warner Bros Circling Frank Miller & Geof Darrow’s ‘Hard Boiled’ – Update"
Anon he's back in your hood (and I'm still capable of finding stuff on tumblr!)
About Hard Boiled and TH, which is still as funny to mention together as it was this morning, if this is true it means TH is done with Loki doesn't it? Marvel would never allow one of its actor to play another comic character.
>>262 For how long I wonder?
By the way, if you fancy a laugh, the Swifty nutters on tumblr are claiming that this is photoshopped and that TH is in fact boning TS somewhere in continental US.....
>>264 hahaha fingers crossed that TS won't get a bf until after Skull Island promo so I can read this stuff for a little longer. (why would they be so fixated they are still together anyway? Shouldn't they be happy she dumped a guy that was made fun of all over the world?)
>>265 After what he pulled this summer, who can say what he'd do or not with his not-so-private love life?
TH can't do tough, he couldn't pull off the tough guy in something as soft as TNM, a character as violent as the one in this graphic novel might be beyond him (even his Coriolanus was teary-eyed!), plus the comics itself isn't visually appealing- Also, outside the Marvel universe, graphic novels don't have much success.
>>265 I forgot, Ben Wheatly's HR was terrible, but his latest film, the one with Brie, seems to be good, so I think he is a hit-and-miss director. That isn't reassuring either.
The VK follow is interesting for a few reasons. Why, if she's in the same stable as TH, didn't he follow her before? Is she new to Twitter? It shouldn't be forgotten that Tayto started, for the most part, with TH following TS.
>>269 Anon. you're back, so glad, I'm no good at being funny about TH, I always sounds so nasty :)
That's true and it'd be hilarious if it happened.
Welcome back to the board, Anon.!
I don't think he's done with showmances. But I am not sure this lady is the one. It would be a bit of a climb-down fame wise from TS and what's the point of shopping for a fake GF unless you buy the best one?
>>269 >>271 Oh, if Douglas Booth is gay, are you saying that Tom pursues faux romances because he is gay? I am confused. Also, I think that a lower profile fake gf would be a good idea, if Tom is trying to hide. No one was stalking Susannah Fielding for pics when she was a jobbing thespian in the West End. And people only took/take pictures of Jane Arthy when she is with Tom, specifically. I'm not sure if Tom could pull off a fake relationship for any reason, for a long while. There is far too much universal suspicion and scrutiny of his behavior after Tayto. I think if Tom wants privacy for that reason that he should stay single, or at most be seen allegedly flirting with certain women, at some point, like with Priyanka at the Emmys. The very youngest Taylor fans only believe her faux relationships because they are addicted to her breakup songs, fashion sense, and her instagram persona. The general public is not so gullible. IMO, Tom just needs to work his bum off and stay off the PR radar.
No links as responding generally to everyone!
I feel the bloom has gone off the rose for me and seemingly for the fandom generally. As I see it there are 2 interpretations of the summer:
>>274 An excellent hypothesis. None of these points are mutually exclusive. It is a given fact that the majority of his glory projects flopped. He's a man driven to success- that would have stung and caused him to consider alternative fast-track methods which he would have otherwise shunned. Herald in the Swift Experience.
I still think it's most likely a combination of all points. It sure as shit wasn't true love since the exit was so "swift" and the method so uncharacteristically flagrant. As you point out, none of the options are appealing. He's either a famewhore or a faker or desperate.
TH doing a very good impression of Shane MacGowan:
I just handed our tiny, snooze-button-less alarm clock off to my husband and told him that I needed to go offer season's greetings to my internet girlfriends. His response: you have internet girlfriends? Oh, if he only knew about the internet boyfriend!
>>275 I think on one level it is easy to have a relationship while famous. Date someone who is not in the business, keep them largely out of the public eye (no Hello spreads) but don't be all weird about it - if you have a big RC event where it would be normal to appear with your spouse, take them along. And stay as far away from the Hollywood machine as possible. Even quite big stars manage this: most of the Brits, and people like Jessic Chastain who is open that she has a BF and is normal about it (e.g. she posts the occasional IG pic of him when you might expect someone to post a pic of their SO).
Oh and happy Thanksgiving to those in the US. Alas for me it is another working day!! 🇺🇸🦃
Wouldn't you guys say that the excess of management pre TayTo was due to ambition, but post TayTo is a sign that his career took a hit?
TH declaring defeat before our stringent logic
(a little attempt not to make everything sound so serious)
That piece of crap The Voyeur's Motel has been dropped by Dreamworks: http://deadline.com/2016/11/sam-mendes-gay-talese-steven-spielberg-drop-voyeurs-motel-dreamworks-movie-dead-1201859603/
So if TH was considering appearing in it, he isn't now.
When a first saw this tweet back in September, I remembered that Tom started following several Apple accounts on Twitter after the success of the Met Gala dance-off. Maybe Apple was preparing a commercial with Tom as part of the campaign they already have with Taylor. That's probably how Hiddleswift started. After the breakup that went for Drake instead. They even started some dating rumours before the commercial was released. How convenient!
I've read somewhere that Taylor Swift has a social media center where people are paid to run fake accounts on social media that post positive things about her and attack those who say negative things about her.
According to this site, only 10% of her followers on twitter are real accounts:
And possibly a festive visit to Sudan this week - does he ever just Netflix and chill?
Apparently he is on the BBC today. BBC World News at 4pm. I am guessing to talk about South Sudan.
>>291 Probably. Isn't this the same presenter that when he went to talk about UNICEF the other time, ended up asking him about Bond instead? Maybe this time he'll ask him about TayTo.
>>292 Yes I recall it degenerated quite quickly into a standard interview about career etc. I saw that Torrilla has some photos of him in Sudan which look quite recent as he is sporting the current beard.
dicks out for Harambe
Ok, so this is the video of TH at the BBC NEWS WORLD that you can also find at Torrilla
>>290 I don't want to give TH and Luke any ideas but there's a tall, thin, famous woman who champions all things UN who recently became single. Just saying.... Showmance system engaged. He's going to make such a great step-father to the child army.
Kooky question/Thoughts Wondering/Pics below: I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I've just been questioning a lot of things, recently from some Met Ball pics and Letters Live pics yesterday. At the Met Ball, everyone wondered why Tom didn't dance or hang out more with his costar in TNM, Elizabeth Debicki, after they posed so warmly on the red carpet, or with Vanessa Kirby, since she is a client of Luke, as well. But I recently found photos of Vanessa Kirby (the lovely actress who Tom just followed on twitter), leaving for the Met ball with ED from the Bowery Hotel, together. And inside, singer Florence Welch and ED danced up an intimate storm together while VK looked on with an interesting gaze. And just two nights ago, ED performed at Letters Live, and her seating partner was again, Florence Welch.
>>297 Not sure about all that but Elizabeth and Florence have been good friends since their Great Gatsby days. Makes sense that they'd hang out at events. Who knows what their personal preferences are but hey as long as they don't put on the over the top bile inducing display Tom put on this summer with their SOs, it's all good. I can't look at any news of Tom or movie or interview clips of Tom without flashbacks of this summer. God that was traumatic.
>>298 I feel just the same way! I still don't know how a seemingly cerebral Cambridge graduate got played by a teeny bopper pop star into running the most PR hungry fake display of intimacy I've ever seen in the history of tinsel town. TS is like teflon woman, because her super fans just want breakup songs, cute new alleged bfs, great outfits, and more breakup songs. Tom is a talented actor, and he doesn't owe anyone anything besides his work product. But his seemingly authentic countenance was very attractive. And that's the thing he's lost, now. Now some question the timing of his UNICEF work to rehabilitating his image, for godssake, even though he's been writing and planning the documentary for years. He needs to stay off the radar, open the monkey movie, and swoop an Olivier award or an Emmy award for a Shakespearean adaptation, like Much Ado About Nothing. And maybe an an obtuse or avant garde production from a new playwright, as well. Anything that makes him seem mature, again. And he should focus on nailing character parts in well executed films, like Midnight in Paris, while hunting for his The Theory of Everything, Redmayne Oscar script.
>>299 SoSorry, he didn't get played, he did all that of his own volition. They were all his choices.
>>300 Yes. Yes. I stand corrected. He's no victim. He's a grown man, who is responsible for his own truly questionable choices. Tom went into this scenario thinking he could play the world for PR, as a team with TS. And I accept that fully. Tom didn't read the fine print of the K, plus, he had no idea that TS just wanted a faux beau/Disney Prince romance to use a human shield to deflect the Kimye takedown, and the still pending DJ groping lawsuit. He thought they were tennis partners in a match dominate the headlines. And she instead, was the queen of the chessboard, protecting her own career from prior scandals, that Team Tom should have known about. Tom is a schemer, but I just find it fascinating that Team Swift was scheming on a black ops level.
>>299 Probably because he's not as cerebral as he tries to appear. His waxing on about poetry and Shakespeare and literature shows only surface level understanding. What he says is all very academic and doesn't show a genuine connection or understanding of the literary piece. He's really easily impressed by high statuses and was starving for fame himself (dunno if he still feels that way). In the beginning he was endearing but as his career stayed stalled, he grew desperate for fame at any level. We could all see his desperation so it's not surprising he went head over heels for Taylor. What was surprising was how far he was willing to go to be her doormat, doing whatever was needed instead of acting like a 35 yr old mature man he portrays himself to be. If anyone played Tom, it was himself. Maybe he's learned his lesson and will mature, who knows. But the blame doesn't lie solely on Taylor. She's ruthless and will do whatever to save her brand. He should've done his homework on her and not let his blind ambition screw him over. He started playing the cheap tabloid and pap game with Elizabeth Olsen and it reached peak momentum with Taylor. The taint of it all is gonna stay on him for a while until he figures out what he wants more. Fame or an actual acting career. But he's definitely not some poor innocent soul, he's just inept at playing the Hollywood fame game.
Articles below. Weird summary of Tom's trip to the Sudan in Instyle magazine, where they talk more about him being dreamy and handsome while he's standing near children in need, than on his documentary, or on how the readers can actually help Unicef. Odd. And there's also a link to Taylor Swift TV show ideas. Golly. Also Team Tom was papped looking rather glum by the dailymail at Ginger and White again, following his BBC News Sudan interviews. Is he being caught by the photographers, or is Tom pretending that the paps weren't called by his team? It's a mystery, Scooby Doo. He's in exactly the same outfit, again. I fully support Tom's being frugal, his wearing the clothes that he received for free, and his using capsule dressing techniques to look coordinated and crisp in the City. But now I worry that he must need to be dry-cleaned from head to toe : )
>>302 yep, one way or another it's difficult to put a positive spin to his summer. I would even go as far as saying that TS is blameless in that she behaved like she usually does, blaming her would be like blaming a fish for swimming. It was up to TH to know better and refuse.
A little reminder that The Critic’s Choice Awards are on December 11.
(I'm working today, ergo the multiple posting, but if you guys don't really care about finding the news here anymore, tell me)
>>307 Hi Couch! Hope working in a Saturday wasn't too unbearable.
Still here for the news. I am sure the others are too as we are all posting from time to time.
Speaking of which Tom has been to the cinema and is feeling all inspired and political - most unlike his social media presence of late.
>>308 As long as I can browse the internet it's manageable ;)
Good to know, I don't check TH's world daily anymore (except for you guys and torrilla), but when I do I'll post what I find to help out.
>>309 In line with his political stance pre Brexit vote though. I wonder how he'll manage during press tour in the US since he was pro Bernie Sanders.
Actually, I'm wondering what Trump will do with Hollywood, impose a limit to the number of foreign actors/actresses? Forbid studios filming abroad?
>>307 Thanks Couch! I may not post all the time but I do check in for the news.
>>312 I don't know why but I keep feeling like the run past the cartoon was staged. The cartoon does look freshly pasted so maybe he is oblivious to it. But idk why I feel like it's staged. Does anyone else feel that way or have I gotten really overly cynical after this TayTo summer?
Who wants to hear Mama Hiddles? A program on Britten:
Thank God Team denied that OK article that TS asked TH for permission to write a song about him, and interesting that Luke didn't deny that they had a "fauxmance." Wow.
>>312 Kudos to the author of that street art, who went in his hood to poke fun at him. Next time, please do the gates of to the complex where he lives.
>>313 Who knows, but what would be the sense of staging it, he ha sbeen doing the impossible to make people forget TayTo happened. Maybe the street art is on the way home there's little he can do. Quite the money shot for the pap though.
>>314 Hahaha So that was the purpose of the showmance, giving a help to his mother's career.
>>315 I think you can safely rule out TS's team, what would they care about an actor in semi-disgrace? Besides with Kanye statemente about Trump and his breakdown, the whole summer squabble is already forgotten.
Maybe Team TH is behind some of them, but mainly I think TH became tabloid fodder and the fact he is so regular and predictable that is makes him an easy target.
Torrila posted another photo along those from the DM's this one:
I suppose this means TH will take part in The Children's Monologues - Dramatic Need 2016
>>321 Why? It's Torria's fault, not yours. She should have written the date.
here's is the author of the street art
>>322 Maybe she also thought it was new? That orange jacket lead me to think it was :)
is repeating this http://www.gq.com/gallery/tom-hiddleston-suit-photos#4
I think the clue may be in the kanji that we can't read. When Tom wears a piece of clothing he hasn't worn for ages she often posts a pic of its earlier appearance. When he was depicted recently with that blonde lady from UNICEF she also posted an earlier pic of him with that person.
>>325 Is it too long before song of the day returns? We've had a jacket from 2011, a second UNICEF trip, a Marvel movie coming out, so why not a social media presence from 2011?
And let's bring back Arthy while we're at it!
Oh dear. Entertainment Tonight just covered the Tom running by the Taylor Lichtenstein poster? They said either it was perfectly timed by the paps, or that Tom planned the photo on purpose. Ouch. I think it was the artist and the paps, because Tom has tried to stay off of the radar for long time, till recently.
Camp Swift denies that she and Hiddleston are getting back together.
E news anticipates songs about CH and TH on Swift's album, after being told by a "source" that she is writing about them.Gee, wonder who the source could be? : )
I've been too busy to post but kept up on lurk mode.
>>333 hey Anonon!
We are due for another philosophic quote, possibly around Xmas.
The hyper link obviously doesn't work
>>335 Hello Couch! Haha, oh dear.
Imagine if he ever wins an Oscar with his penchant for droning on.
Regular name dropping is one of his most cringe worthy attributes in my opinion. It's been happening since day dot.
Was that the night they also made fun of his regular arse- flashing?
>>337 If his acceptance speech for his MTV movie award is anything to go by, I fear the Oscar would be much worse.
>>335 Ha! Let me name drop a possible and not disastrous showmance which took place before my definite and disastrous showmance. Good plan, TH. The PR triumphs keep coming!
>>337 His Oscar acceptance speech will be blissfully short as he'll be too busy dry humping the award to speak. They'll need to turn the hose on him to continue the ceremony.
I must be in Xmas mood, not only I failed to make fun of that hideous orange jacket, I didn't even think PR. Does TH know EO is doing a film that mocks TS?
>>340 Wouldn't it be funny if Tom was also in that film and Hiddleswift was only part of his research for the part?
Have you noticed that Tom has been unfollowing some twitter accounts in the last couple of weeks? Usually 1 or 2 per day. Now he even unfollowed Hiddles Fashion.
>>341 Ah! Nobody would believe him.
At the very beginning there was this idea, or better hope, that it was all for some documentary video about media. But, given how extra TH was, how fake the showmance felt to all of us, nobody would believe him.
>>342 I hadn't but you are absolutely right. I checked again just because I don't trust twitter/insta programming and they have been known to temporarily "eat" stuff. But HF was a recent follow and I looked back to March this year which was when he followed TS as we all now know.
>>346 yuskezz If he's trying to step back from the fans, why is he still following Frenchie (real name Alexia), who not so long ago used to write fan fiction about Loki and Thor and followed everyone he followed on twitter. Lately she cleaned up her twitter account to make it look like she's not a fan but the Internet is a b***tch and never forgets.
>>347 Ah Frenchie, there's a blast from the past. Is she still lurking? I see the miniature PHD rumor has been doing the rounds too. It's like a mythical sidechick soup.
As for the unfollows, that's a significant cull. I wonder if he trawled through all his summer mentions and compiled a shit list.
Tom keeps unfollowing people but it's impossible to know who. Can someone tell me why he's following this stupid account?
>>349 Apparently, she did the Live Below the Line thing. That must be the reason. He also followed Alixia because of that.
>>349,350 Yes, he is still following some stan accounts - a woman called Meaghan and one called Amanda, neither of whom offers much more than "Tom I laaaarve you". At least Hiddles Fashion (a) has a sense of humour and (b) offers some actual content about his wardrobe. Clearly that's not what he wants, just uncomplicated adulation.
Fussy Human is trying to make money out of Hiddleswift by selling the street art poster. How long until Taylor sues him?
>>352 3...2...1. Only she is allowed to make money off of her fabricated personal life.
>>351 This connection always seemed dodgy, near insestuous, to me. She engratiated herself to the stylist in such an oily way. Needs must, I guess. But then she almost seemed to be in league with Etro and Jbrand when Tayto were product-placing their date nights during the summer. Perhaps TH needed to separate his fans from his commercial endeavors.
>>351 TH may never find real and lasting love...but it warms my heart that Olly has truly found The One. Lift your glasses...to Olly and Bryan!!!
Let's play: Show or No? (Yes, I'm bored)
-Event: Critics' Choice Awards
-Nomination: Best actor in a move made for tv or limited series
>>355 I'm here for the Manny Janes in grey suede.
I'll predict yes because he's opened a few envelopes lately but he'll maintain his red carpet stealth mode because Swift is still a dirty word.
>>355 Show: in Gucci and Manny Janes absolutely, he doesn't follow Hiddlesfashion anymore so he won't read the snark and he will make "yours truly" happy. I agree with Anonon that red carpet stealth mode will continue, especially since TS has just dropped a new single.
>>357 I am narrowly saying show since he seems unable to spend 2 weeks in his own home without getting bored and hopping on a plane to LA. I think he just likes collecting mini toiletries.
>>358 hahaha the reason behind all those suitcases!
>>359 hahaha! I bet he has a cupboard at home with 50 pairs of hotel slippers in it!!
Well, our No were correct, but going from the lack of photos our Show not so much (was any of TNM cats even there?)
>>361 Did he finally take that paradise island vacation?!
>>361 Not that I saw. Olivia Colman was spotted in London on Dec. 11th for the "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" screening, and Elizabeth Debicki is in London in that play "The Red Barn." I think the TNM cast has a better chance of turning up for the GG awards since the profile for the event is much larger, minus Debicki, since she is obligated to the National Theatre. Maybe she'll get a day off if she's nominated.
Completely OT: the NW3 blog has been completely wiped clean (again). Who knows if it's true as I haven't been checking in there, but I saw a splendid rumour that she had shut it down because she got caught cat fishing people that she was dating Henry Cavill!!!!
The Emmys were one thing, even with the vestiges of Tayto - I recognize the Emmys! They are an official thing. These awards, Critics' Choice, not so much. I was surprised to find out they've been going on for so long.
>>367 Today and they are out, TNM had 4out of 5 of the same nominations it had for the Critic's Choice Awards. Basically Debicki is the one left out. Chances of winning: none.
>>365 What??? Heavens. Well we always did suspect her of being a fantasist. Seems she hoisted her fantasies onto another actor post-Tayto. Strange.
Did anyone see what she did/posted during her mental break from reality? Whom did she catfish?
Do we think TH will have another of his buddy interview him to ask him how feels about his first GG nomination? Whose turn is it? He already used Horowitz, Cumberbatch, Hemsworth and Elba threw some support, who's left?
>>368 Anything for ISTL?...............................I'm joking of course!!!!
>>370 Interview by an ex? Tayto reunited? But then she skips out on the interview and one of her cats has to do it?
>>371 Hahaha no, of course not! It's a miracle TH made it, giving him more than one nomination was expecting too much.
>>372 Anna Wintour with a Tayto interview on Vogue!
I came on here to break the happy news but I see you already know.
I found out because Tom's erection upon hearing news of his nomination was visible in my postcode.
>>375 Call us when it's visible through your mail slot.
He's probably saving that for the Oscar nom. Every mail slot within the NW postcode is going to get a visitor that day. If it ever happens.
Wow. Still no thank you from Tom for his GG nomination on his Twitter or instagram accounts, or interviews about it. Good for him! He should stay underground as long as possible! He can enjoy the holidays with his family while reading books and eating figgy pudding. Tom can grow his beard back for the ceremony and then skip the red carpet completely at the Globes. Not a peep till the monkey movie promo starts. Keep it quiet and classy.
>>377 I understand what you're saying. The Emmy push, either through TH or AMC was too much: crack of dawn interviews, following every Emmy acct on Twitter, back and forth between Oz and the US. Tayto was mixed in there to some extent as well, so the ott of that show rubbed off on the campaign.
In London. Doing a charity thing (apparently confined to a hand gesture at this stage) for a children's brain cancer charity called Tom's Trust.
>>379 Well, at least the swifties won't be able to say they spent TS's birthday together (although I doubt her fans are still thinking that)
In other news, no SAG Awards nominations for TNM.
>>381 Yes, I saw that. Talk about incapable of giving it a rest!
Then again, maybe they read TH's history of pretending of not dating people. Last year people pointed out that TH and EO hadn't send their birthday together but when they showed up for ISTL promotion some of his ftiboyans thought they were still a thing.
>>383,381 All they want for Christmas is Tayto Two. They've written their letters to Santie and now they're baking cookies (her recipe) for him when he comes down the chimney. They're hoping the Christmas elves, which do exist, can piece together the broken showmance that is Tayto. They are not at all delusional.
I see no SAG noms for TH or TNM. Is the veranda spewing out resentment? Blaming TS, Tayto, bad fans (this board included)?
>>385 There is nothing on CB that I saw about SAG. They basically don't matter as award, I guess.
Still bad result for TH after all the licking he did. He did several SAG events if I recall.
>>385,386 CB did a SAG post yesterday
TH's stans stayed away from the thread. To be fair there weren't that many comments on the Globes thread either.
>>386 He did do several...because he's an authentic actor's actor. Authentically.
Out and about in London.
>>389 Because she is...pregnant and needs a second sandwich since she's eating for TAYTO JR. I could make an excellent swifter. I also hope that TH gave her the sandwich by pushing it across the table with his nose a la The Lady and the Tramp or their version The Closeted Lesbian and the Famewhore.
By bike to the Donmar to see Saint Joan (GBS).
>>391 Awesome pic of Tom and Gemma Artherton at the Bernard Shaw play, Saint Joan. People are asking, but Gemma Artherton divorced her Italian husband, and is now long term dating a Frenchman since 2014, Franklin Ohanessian, who is a director. Gemma spends a lot of the time with him at her apartment in Paris. Going to a cerebral play, by bicycle, is exactly the kind of understated appearance that Tom needs to make. No muss, no fuss. Bravo.
>>392 According to the Fail she is single as of October:
>>393 1. Good catch on the Gemma is single article.
2. I made myself laugh thinking about them as a couple, because after this summer, I have no idea what type of woman would fascinate him! A complete blank!
A relationship with a woman who's always kept her relationships private? He's got no chance.
>>394 The sudden appearance of a new font 'fascinates' me.
>>395 So true, her being single or not matters little to TH, EO was engaged and he went after her anyway, TS was with Calvin Harris but TH glued himself to her ass at the Met Gala anyway.
>>395 Lol, thanks for the schweddy balls!
Happy Swiftmas, I mean Christmas, to you all x
>>395 You're right. Wow. Gemma Arterton's PR guru "friend-zoned" Tom in the opening words of this dailymail article about her Saint Joan press night. Way to stay out of the madness, Gemma. Tom is still labeled as TS's ex. Ouch.
>>398 Ah the DM. Tom apparently starred at the Donmar in a play called Corionalus.
I was going to post only to say that production for Avengers: Infinity War has just announced that they'll start filming at the end of January (iirc on the 27th) to point out how that still doesn't seem the reason why TH hasn't announced anything, when the day brought a casting calls for the film with a list of the actors/actresses required and no TH!
Thinking about it, it is probably the Mail trying to avoid writing the word "anus".
Sam Mendes. No slur on his direction intended....!
>>404 I think it's a matter of Marvel pretending to not want to reveal Thor 3 spoilers - even though Loki is part of the Infinity Wars, according to comic book fans.
This is worth a chuckle:
The source is OK! magazine so take it with a grain of salt. But I wonder how many celebs have turned down invites to TS's squad.
The source is OK! magazine so take it with a grain of salt. But I wonder how many celebs have turned down invites to TS's squad.
>>406 Zendaya was in the Bad Blood video, and she never bought into the whole squad friendships, and thus, she stopped hanging out with the Taylor once the Bad Blood obligation appearances ended. And Chloe Grace Moretz directly refused a few
cook with TS" invites because she said that she knows that cliques promote exclusivity. I think that TS has a few secrets of her own, and she therefore leads a very tightly media-managed lifestyle to protect those secrets and her branding as the girl next door that all girls want to be, and to continually redefine her image. Most of her hangouts are business-related,the allegedly feminist VS squad appearances started to make her look less boy crazy after her PR breakups, appearing with Zayn and Gigi was for the Fifty Shades sequel song, going to the Hilfiger fashion show was to plug him on her snapchat and for him to use "This is is What You Came For" in the show, appearing with T Hall from Kinky Boots makes her look edgy and minority-group friendly, etc.
Merry Christmas all!
Merry Christmas 🎄 one and all.
Merry Christmas Kareha fam!
I'm so tardy to the party. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year.
A pic of Tom, who is back in London after the X-mas holidays. He was spotted running, and out alone having dinner. Apparently Tom walked over to the girl's table, and introduced himself. He asked whose birthday she was celebrating, after she took a sneaky pic of him. Happy belated Holidays, everyone!
>>414 Local restaurant (GBK Belsize Park - let's see if the tumblr stalkers are still visiting us here...).
Hope everyone had a good break.
I got a gift for everyone. I know, I know - I'm too generous. It's just my giving nature, I can't help it. I do ask that you not fight over them as there are plenty to go around.
>>415 And yes they are still stalking the board and running to tumblr: https://hiddlestonanons.tumblr.com/post/155168253658/does-that-man-really-eat-burger-and-fries-every
>>416 Very nice. Nipple jewellery for one's hot date with Thomas!
>>417,418 'Popsies on the hob' sounds like a sexual position, in particular a position for someone wearing nipple rings with TH's face on them. In the words of JA: I'll put my popsies on your hob if you take me to Wimbledon.
Bring on the New Year.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbvDzreiw_U С НАСТУПАЮЩИМ 😁
Happy New Year's to all those east of the Atlantic.
>>424 Happy New Year to you all! It's fireworks time here in London but I shall be in bed by the time 2017 hits East/West Coast USA. And Happy NY to everyone east of GMT!!
Tom playing guitar and singing (fortunately not very much) for a video made by David Marti: http://hiddlestonredalert.tumblr.com/post/155312560165/full-length-version-of-the-previous-video-from
Happy New Year, all. Did you wear your TH earrings....I mean nipple rings?
>>426 No. Quick no.
>>427 I wore them at the cafe with a backless top turned frontwise. Tom was captivated, though whether by (a) my breasts (b) just any old breasts or (c) two pictures of himself, it is hard to say.
I will shortly be exposed by the DM (if that's the phrase) as his new GF.
The answer is C.
DM: Picture Exclusive: Taylor Swift look-a-like (even if you don't) shows off her shapely legs and post-baby body as she mesmerizes Bond hopeful and Taylor's ex with her bejewelled nips.
Pic of Tom, out at dinner in a London trattoria, Ciao Bella. He looks a little tired.
Tom doesn't seem to be on the presenters' list for the GG awards on Sunday, for better or worse. Priyanka Chopra, Sienna Miller, Brie Larson, and Thor/Chris Hemsworth made the cut. Hmm...Lighting a candle that Tom stays off the red carpet, keeps the beard, looks handsome, is work-focused, and stays drama free : ) Tom's work ethic and his resume is enough to propel his career. There's some in Hollywood for a thespian/leading man. Fassbender films havne't done well, nor have Hemsworth's solo efforts sold. Only Dicaprio and Denzel can sell any film, no matter what.
>>430 He looks fed and healthy. It's a good look.
>>432 I have to say, I thought he looked smoking hot (and I prefer him with much less of a beard). Great bod.
It must've been cold in that restaurant though....😉
Tom at Heathrow. Looking cheerful and wearing a really dire bomber jacket, which is too short and just - well, have a look:
>>434 Did he pull that out of the box of his old high school clothes? It's amusing how he leaps from this to designer suits in one day (there's some BAFTA gig tonight I believe).
>>435 No British person would own such a garment from schooldays unless interested in American retro! Apparently it's Gucci. Hideous IMO. And too short for him.
Styled by yours truly. ;)
>>436 i just read hiddlesfashion's tumblr - Gucci Jersey Bomber jacket, $1590. New. So roughly 1400GBP? Agreed, looks 2 sizes too small. But hey, I'm not a stylist.
>>436>>435>>438 That's a hard jacket for anyone to pull off. Not sure I get the look. But British men seem to style all of their clothes esp. on the slim slide, like the Beatles' suits. Even Tom's Ralph Lauren quilted jacket fits a little small, IMO,such that the sleeves are a bit too short on the wrists since he's so tall. Maybe they're trying to show off his frame and muscles with slim fitting clothes, and the next size up would gape? I'm guessing...blah. I love his navy jackets myself, but to the camera, they can appear a bit worn.
That birch tree has got a puck load to answer for.
>>441 I know what you mean. I don't like that look and at times I fear for Tom's fertility because his trousers are so tight.
The reason his jackets are so short is because he is actually disproportionately long in the body, meaning that his torso is longer than his legs. Most men's clothes are cut on the basis that the legs and torso are about half and half (for women the assumption is that the legs are longer than the torso). He dresses well to hide it and he has skinny legs which make them look longer than they are. But look at this, for example, which shows that his torso is longer:
>>442 Is Gucci a golden nugget? I feel it would be great for a man who is into fashion and would enjoy selecting things from the collection. I hate Jared Leto but he is a good example of a star who clearly puts a lot of thought into how he dresses.
>>444 It's work. I really wasn't thinking about the freebies, just that he has his name attached to a 'big name label.' Sorta like when he attached himself to TS. All he got out of the summer was Tayto and Thucci.
>>444,445 Lol, I had to pop in and say you anonses Just made my day. Tayto and Thucci! Keep up the good work.
Now I have to go back on set and watch my actress and the stunty get set on fire
Happy New Year everybody!
I will agree with Anonon and say that Thucci just made my day as that hideous bomber that would only look good on someone with half TH's years. But hey he is flirting with the paps again!
>>447 Ha ha! She did stalk one of her other faux ex-beaux, J Gyllenhaal, to one of those award show after parties, once upon a time TS just arrived in London to shoot that Fifty Shades Darker video with Zayn, at the Gilbert Scott restaurant in the St. Pancras Hotel. My X-mas wish is that all conversations will be about Tom's career/life, in the future.
>>448 Absolutely not! I want another pseudo-dance show-off, possibly asked by the journos on the red carpet. Or possibly asked by the host.
For Anon: https://www.instagram.com/p/BO_WHvXhEwn/
Remember that it's the Lord's day, so watch your language!
>>450 Hey, she changed the tie and the shoes from the Gucci advert. Totally worth the money.
>>446,447 'Thucci and I are together and we're very happy. That's the truth. Thanks for asking. It's not a stunt.'
The I <3 G shirt is being printed. Styled by yours truly.
>>452 I feel like Thucci, as a brand, should make Borat style mankinis.
In other news TH is odds on favourite to win in his category!
Hugh, Olivia, and Tom won for TNM at the GG awards! Video of Tom's speech.
He won. And he made an unforgivably shocking speech which has quite rightfully earned him the title 'Humblebrag Hiddleston'. The sequence of audience cringe edits was hilarious.
I'll save you all from the horror by not providing a link so you may hopefully never ever hear it.
>>454 Damn! Watch at your peril. You have been warned!
When TPvOJ swept the Emmy actor awards, I didn't blink an eye because that show was a 10. But this sweep makes me hmmmm. I'll just say that the GGs have a rep for being open to purchase....
>>456 I stopped being able to listen to him over the summer, so I'll pass. Humblebrag Hiddleston...at least there's something to overshadow Tayto and the t-shirt.
>>457>>455>>456 Hmmm...I see your point. But at least he dedicated the award to the doctors, and nurses, and people out in the trenches doing self-less humanitarian work every day, instead of just referencing himself. Its easy to castigate Tom, or Megan Markle, or Angelina Jolie for having saviour complexes, flitting into and out of war torn areas like diamond winged butterflies. But at the end of the day, they've done more for charity than I have this year. I feel like I have to do much more good work in the world before I can adjudicate entertainers' charitable actions, even when they reference their service in career-oriented, self-serving moments.
For those wanting the negative take on the speech:

All I gotta say is...Jesus Christ Tom, way to fuck up your chance at redemption in the public eye. That was mortifying to watch.
Full video of Tom's 8 minute backstage interview after he won the GG award, eloquently discussing TNM. Hugh Laurie's lovely video backstage is the second link.
>>457 LOL, indeed AMC spent a lot of money to secure TH won this GGs. Either that or this is what he got out of TayTo. His interpretation in TNM wasn't in no way worthy of an award and it makes no sense for PeoplvsOJ to win as best show while the show actor lose.
>>458 Please don't compare TH to Angelina Jolie. Anon. can tell you in fine details the difference in stature between the two. But even without that, his speech was awful, plain and simple. He could have said many things, he could have criticized his own government for selling those weapons, or the UN for standing by watching once again while innocents were slaughtered. Or shut the hell up all together. The celebs in the audience made face!
Is this one 26 years old as well?
>>465 the rest of these photos at torrilla (I'm out of practice at following this guy's love life)
>>455 (and everyone else who posted links while I was asleep). Oh god. How did he get it so wrong? It all started well. "TNM is about arms dealing and there are too many arms going into S. Sudan." How difficult could it then have been to say something like, I am honoured to receive this GG for a project that tried to draw attention to this evil trade and I would like to dedicate it to MSF.
>>465 The man is someone involved in the S Sudan documentary project. I think she is too.
Hugh Laurie's speech was pitch perfect: "Picking up his third Golden Globe, he joked that it was an honour to receive an award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the "last ever Golden Globes".
"I don't mean to be gloomy," he said. "It's just it has 'Hollywood', 'foreign' and 'press' in the title. To some Republicans even the word 'association' is slightly sketchy.
>>465>>466 The man in the pic has been IDed as a Unicef worker on tumblr, and it was assumed that the girl works for Unicef. I'm assuming that from now on, that even when Tom makes a "grumpy cat face" when he's photographed by the paps walking in his neighborhood or at G&W, that his PR called them there. I think that munching eggs, while wearing the same outfit over and over again, is the least interesting way of doing something interesting.
>>470 Tom was up against actors who gave way better performances than his in TNM. Courtney B. Vance obviously but there was also Riz Ahmed for The Night Of and honestly, Riz's Naz was absolutely amazing when compared to Tom's Jonathan Pine. Compared to People vs OJ and The Night Of, TNM seems like a very outdated show that was saved mostly by Olivia Coleman and Hugh Laurie. Tom's acting alone wasn't that strong. And I say that as someone who does think Tom is a good actor. His TNM performance simply wasn't that great when compared to his peers in the same category. That's why most are side eyeing Tom's win. And his bungled cringe speech (intentional or not) didn't help matters either. Especially not after summer of 2016 antics.
>>472 Ha ha! Not sure Tom has a hit list, though it might be nice for him. Might be nice for anyone, actually. But where are these amours? Are these gals locked up in a love den in his house? Is Tom loved up with Luke? He faux dates TS, twirls Priyanka (who has the same manager fyi) for press at the Emmys, then he wonders around London, eating all alone wearing a sad grey hoodie under a peacoat?! It's odd. I'm so confused. The man is a mystery. I think the brunette stroking his hair backstage is his stylist Ilaria Urbanati. She appears to be married, and maybe has a kid.
>>471 This. I have loved Tom's work over the years but TNM was really not his best work. When we watched it together when it was first on I think we all thought it was quite good, if our comments on the board are anything to go by. But I started to watch the series again a few months ago after watching OJ and by comparison it was really - not that great. Very expensively shot, great locations, lots of explosions and TH shirtless in every episode, and wonderful supporting performances. But he was more wooden than I remember and the script was clunky (which I did see the first time).
>>476 That's not the stylist. If you look at recent pictures of her in her insta feed she has for reasons best known to herself dyed her hair a brassy blonde.
The Dailymail just threw Tom Hiddleston under the proverbial bus for his speech, specifically in the name of Taylor Swift. Ouch...Wow. This is sad, and dark.
'No wonder Taylor Swift ended things!' Tom Hiddleston ridiculed on social media for making thank you speech about South Sudan a plug for his Night Manager miniseries
>>471 Riz Ahmed was following in Ben Whishaw's footsteps, because Whishaw originated the part for the BBC miniseries Criminal Justice, and Ben received tons of praise for his performance, including the International Emmy award in 2005. HBO remade the series. I think re-makes never get enough credit, b/c I heard Ahmed was great. Didn't think Tom was wooden as Pine. He was trying to slowly let different colors and layers of emotions bubble under the surface, and that's really hard to accomplish. Esp. for Tom who seems so natural on stage. J Chastain is good at that, and Cate Blanchett is great at it. Thought Laurie was deliciously intense, but was a snarling villain archetype. Coleman was my fave, hands down, esp with her monologue explaining why she was tracking Roper. But unlike Tom, she got to traverse more emotional terrain and also explode with rage, and the Pine spy role was mostly under the surface. Again, haven't seen TPVOJS.
"An audible gasp could be heard from the crowd as he continued on about South Sudan." Cringing is right. That's what you get for winging it while feeling overconfident.
>>481 Maybe that's it, overconfidence. The man is almost 36, he prides himself on his intelligence, it's beyond belief that he could get it wrong.
He could have said anything from "this award is for the brave people of Unicef that work in the field and has to face the consequence of arms trafficking" to "as a Unicef ambassador I confirmed with my own eyes how much arm trafficking is a huge obstacle to help people in countries like South Sudan, this award is for them".
>>481 I totally agree about the winging it part.
I think people assume that a person who does one form of public speaking (actor, politician etc) will also be good at another (educational seminar, after dinner speech). I have attended a lot of barristers' weddings over the years and have learned that making a good after dinner speech is a quite separate art form from any other kind of public speaking. A lot of the speeches I have heard were absolutely dire (and these were from mostly well educated people whose day job is to react spontaneously and correctly to rapidly changing situations in court).
While his words were minced, I think the story was premeditated and carefully selected as a clever anecdote of the whimsical reach of the series combined with a major UNICEF plug.
He failed to recognise that this flimsy whimsy would catapult him into a self- congratulatory puddle of racial privilege, overshadowing any good intentions. After the swamplands of Tayto, all puddles should be avoided.
>>484 I am sure you are right.
What I meant was that there is (possibly) a way of telling this anecdote in which Tom doesn't sound like a plonker, but it needed to be very carefully scripted - which I think we all agree, didn't happen!!
>>485 Yes! Where's that scriptwriter that writes all the words he speaks on publicity tours of late.
>>484,485 You'd think that after the summer he had he would have been more cautious at an event like this and scripted even the way he orders breakfast.
What a way to start his 2017.
>>480 I never said Tom was wooden as Pine. His performance just wasn't that great if you had also seen The Night Of or People vs OJ. You haven't watched either and only are going by TNM. I've watched both Ben Wishaw in the original version of The Night Of and Riz's performance as Naz is completely different than Ben Wishaw's. Riz's character was a Pakistani Muslim American and having a Muslim as a main character in our current political climate, played the way Riz played him, that is something different. It's not like Riz copied Ben, simply because the show was an American remake. That's like saying since TNM was a TV movie about a spy, it was a budget Bond and Tom was taking his cues from Bond. Or that since ther actors have portrayed Shakespearean characters, Tom takes his cues from them as Henry V or Coriolanus.
>>484>>487 In my opinion, that just goes to show his general mindset. He doesn't seem to see his own privilege and that's probably why he gets irritated whenever classism is brought up in regards to his upbringing. He still doesn't really see how some things he does or how he perceives some things, give away his lucky privilege and how off putting and off color that sounds to people who are not from that particular circle. Or just how wrong that way of thinking is regardless of how well-intentioned you can be.
>>488 By "regardless of his summer showmance", I mean that EVEN if he hadn't had such a crash and burn summer of his public image, his Pine would still not award worthy when compared to his competition. If anything, his cheap summer tactic worked when it comes to people like HFPA and got him the award despite better contenders.
I thought he was very good in TNM and I liked it enough the first time to watch it again - here and there - when it re-aired in the US. It's just that TPvOJ was so pitch perfect in all respects: script, acting, directing, etc. I think TNM is quality tv, just not of the quality OJ achieved.
There are the headlines I'm see most in his twitter feed:
>>494 You know I was about to reply to NewAnon saying that it's not possible for him to be still so clueless after so many years, then I watched this video you posted and he looks bemused at how what he said might have come off wrong.
>>495 Did he trot out the old 'I can only be responsible for myself and not the reactions of others' line? That's my favorite TH line of late. Even better than his confirmation that Tayto was NOT a stunt - thanks for asking - or his 'everyone has a cameraphone' quote.
>>496 No a new one. First he knitted his brows and said "I don't what they are saying" and when TMZ told him people were hating on him and said his speech was self-indulgent he knitted them some more and added "we all just have to do the best we can to help each other out", while his handler said "Tom let's go!"
Here's the non-moving, non-verbal rundown for those who can't stomach the video. The last line of this article is brilliantly correct and cutting:
>>488 Hmm... Sorry about how this came out completely wrong. But, I mentioned that I hadn't seen the other TPVOJS, or Ahmed, specifically to say that was why I wouldn't able to judge the performances in it. I would never ever say that anyone was more worthy than anyone else if I hadn't seen all of the shows : ) AND, the most important thing I said is that the GG awards is glossy awards show given by the press, that GG awards are NOT really about acting skills, in my opinion. Which I DON'T agree with. That's why the people who are most visible in the industry win GG awards, a lot of the time. I don't agree with that. Usually the worthier performance wins the Emmy award. That's why I listed all the splashy movie stars who have golden globe awards, or people who have had visible years in the press win GG awards. I don't agree with that, btw. And that would mean that the right people won the Emmy awards (TPVOJS), and that Ahmed would have been more of a contender there, politically speaking, if had originated the role, and Ben hand't won so recently for the same part. And that's not fair for Ahmed, either. And I don't have heart eyes for Tom, or Jolie, or Markle or anyone else who does charity work : ) Sure don't think that Tom has a Jolie or Bloom like Unicef service record, either. I just feel weird criticizing charity work, until I do more work. Maybe, that's a weird tick.
>>494 It's an odd one. The camera man says repeatedly "I thought it was a beautiful speech", so him saying "thanks" is hardly doubling down. Then as others point out, the cameraman says that others have called it self-indulgent. I can see why TH looked mystified at that point because self-indulgent isn't really what people were saying, and to me that connotes something different, like Goop crying. Which isn't what he did, really. He was humblebragging.
>>499 I never brought his speech or his humanitarian work into my argument about his win. I'm not even touching that so please don't lump what I'm saying in with that. They are two different arguments. My argument is strictly limited to his performance in TNM and how it wasn't worthy of an award when compared to the other contenders. Riz Ahmed was not a "politically correct" choice, he gave a fantastic performance just like Courtney B. Vance did and if you'd seen The Night Of, you'd realize just because Ben played the role of a man accused of a murder he didn't remember committing doesn't make it the same role. You keep bringing that up as if you're trying to say well it wasn't an original role like Pine was and therefore didn't deserve the award. It's been 12 years. That's not Ben recently winning. Again, that's like saying Tom shouldn't get accolades for playing Henry V and Coriolanus because well other actors have done those roles before him and gotten awards for it.
>>501 Um...I agree with you! Movie stars and shows like TNM win the Globes because the production companies actively campaign for the votes. That's why the Globes are not one of the fairer award shows. Globes are not about acting ability, which is very unfortunate. That's why the glossy posse usually take the awards. Sadly, its not the Tony awards, or the Olivier awards, b/c at the Olivier awards fame and press coverage count against you, and its just about you acting chops. I prefer that. And I didn't say that Ahmed wasn't deserving (since I haven't seen it yet : ) I said how sad it was that the Emmy voters might have seen HBO's acquisition of the project from the BBC as being just a remake, despite what The Night Of achieved independently of its source material. That's their unfortunate bias, because people rave about Ahmed.
>>500 I couldn't watch it, so I've got no idea. I was imagining it differently but just can't bring myself to watch. I was speculating that his people tried to pull him away because he started to defend his speech. Seems that wasn't the case.
TBH I think he feels it is a bit of a storm in a teacup. He wasn't madly satirical and he actually said he kind of saw what Tom meant, only it came out all wrong.
The (perhaps inevitable) "I misspoke" post.
Not on IG or on twitter (yet). And not written by him but I suspect by his US publicist. That "Sincerely, my only intention..." is not a British idiom.
Post the link, idiot Anon: https://www.facebook.com/twhiddleston/
>>504 A dirty beer, as I know and use it, is one that you shouldn't be having - for whatever reasons.
>>507 So it's not specifically a humanitarian thang at all? Une bière sans frontières?
>>505,507 I read that a dirty beer is beer+pepsi (or similar)! Is google protecting me?
>>510 If it is a euphemism for something else I wish he had told THAT story in his acceptance speech.
>>508 I'm assuming that the reasoning behind it being dirty is what makes it 'humanitarian,' i.e., doctors shouldn't be drinking if they are all needed at any moment and are not on shift work. Even on shift work, my husband has very strict rules for how far out from a start of shift he can consume alcohol.
But...but...where's the Seneca quote. Aren't we meant to get a Seneca quote? And he didn't mention The Work once in that post. What's happening?
>>514 See my theory above. What's happening is that somebody else wrote this!!
>>508 Off to listen to Jeux Sans Frontières...TH stunts with Taylor, TH makes everyone cringe, TH fucks up...if acceptance speeches could kill a career, this one probably will...it's a knockout.
>>509,505 Coach is right. The regret comes only when the plan doesn't work: PapGateGate doesn't work...Seneca/Work quote. Tayto doesn't work... DEFCON 2/1 behavior with fans in Brisbane. Speech is a lead ballon...I is sozzy FB post. As my battle-axe, hard-nosed mother (thank God) says to me 'Apologises are signs you've failed in some way, stop putting yourself in situations where you have to apologize for your actions.'
>>517 I think his amour propre, his ambition and his verbosity got the better of him. I agree not nerves.
Do we think his publicity team told/encouraged him to mention the charity work?
And it gets messier. Was this really necessary? Now the speech ranks right alongside Tayto because...Gossip Cop.
>>519 Overkill lol kinda like the speech but not as cringe as the self indulgent tangent his speech itself took. If he put it on his FB, why bother with Gossip Cop?
>>520 Is this Gossip Cop writing "journalism" on its own initiative? It does sometimes print stuff not written for it by publicists, usually like this of the "bears shit in woods" variety.
Gossip Cop and People - this smacks of his team - American (Mr. Beardy was present last night) - trying to get the apology out there as much as possible.
>>521 I'm not sure. I always thought they were on celebrities and studios publicists' payroll, and always printed when given something. Given that >>522 just posted to People, it definitely seems like damage control. Notify the world that Mr. Try Hard (oh look same initials) has apologized for his nervous faux pas.
Did anyone else see that Susannah Fielding liked twitter posts that mocked Tom's speech? Who do that? My goodness, they broke up long ago. Saw her on stage in The Beaux Stratagem, and she's super talented by the way.
Mike Ryan @mikeryan Jan 8
'"In the best cases, the most enlightened celebrities understand that their fame and wealth is not the objective, but the platform from which to make a real difference in the world," says Mirchandani [vice president of communications at the Center for Global Development], ruefully adding, "If only they all did."
>>524 some of TH's friend "liked" the mocking of his tshirt this summer, it could be because they found it funny or because they wanted to read what happened. Twitter's "like" doesn't necessarily mean like.
In the meantime, here are the BAFTA film nominations
No High Rise and no ISTL, so no chances of another speech ;)
All the GG awards gossip from the parties. Apparently Olsen and Hiddleston were catching up. Or their publicists want us to think that they were : ) The machinations are so much more exhausting than the truth.
11:51 pm- Eat up! At William Morris/ Endeavor's party, Elizabeth Olsen is overheard teasing ex-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston about only eating an avocado for lunch.
"11:51 pm- Eat up! At William Morris/ Endeavor's party, Elizabeth Olsen is overheard teasing ex-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston about only eating an avocado for lunch."-hahahahhaahahahahahhahahahha what a garbage! Poor Thomas..
Not sure how I feel about the advice. Anyone?
How to save Hiddy from (yet more) humiliation: As Tom Hiddleston makes ANOTHER gaffe with his cringe making Globes speech, despairing fan JAN MOIR sets out her rescue plan
>>532 Firstly, who is Emily Stone and is EMMA Stone angry that Emily walked off with her GG? I know her full name is Emily, but no one calls her that. Well, maybe her mother.
Secondly, Jan Moir shouldn't be devising rescue plans for TH. Is there a PR equivalent of Task Force Blue/Seal Team 6? Because his public image is nigh on to needing that level of intervention: a few Apache attack helicopters, some well-trained and heavily-armed Navy seals and it should be a cake walk. Should be.
>>534 I notice that:
a) You appeared as soon as EO was mentioned
b) You didn't even bother to pretend you don't know who Lex is
>>535 sorry, bitch, but no))) I'm more dangerous than firen)))) burn bitch))))
>>535 I love the way you afraid, it makes me happy))) I know about firen, but I'm not her))) I got some feeling that you just a schizophrenic)))) hahaha)))) burn bitch
>>535 or the clear manifestation of a perfectly balanced personality.
But as we know Lex comes in all forms, names and unstable minds.
>>538 You know about firenbrenie. Quelle coincidence.
May I suggest that you take a large emergency dose of whatever medication they put you on over the summer of Tayto to enable you to cope with the fact that TH had an actual verified relationship with a tall leggy blonde?
>>541 Hey,shizoid, you are so funny))))))) That your shit about leggy blonde is so shizophrenic! ha! I can say that is your envy. Maybe that because you are fat little bitch?
All that you can do is talking about his girlfriends. Because of that you little bitches are stupid. Burn fat bitches, burn.
>>539 Hahaha!! A balanced personality indeed.
It's interesting also how she's suggested that someone else is schizophrenic with such alacrity - as if she herself had been recently diagnosed. Because: Apple Pie for Tom, Firenbrenie, Lex, Cabbage Anon...I think there was another...Muskrat? Something with an M.
Tom's agency, WME-IMG, just entered into a content partnership with Unicef. Quote from Variety below. Is that part of why Tom mentioned Unicef at the Globes?
>>544 I wouldn't be at all surprised. They probably saw it as a win-win. Their talent mentions the cause - good for UNICEF, shows that WME is where it's at for charidee hookups, and shows TH in a philanthropic light. How could it go wrong?
Tom with the sad "grumpy cat face" out to dinner on Jan 10 in LA with Hugh Laurie and Suzanne Bier. Maybe the paps were yelling critical things at him? Maybe just an off day? Maybe PR called the paps? Maybe...?
>>546 I agree with you. TH, or TH & Co, should have locked down the speech, since this was such an important chance to frame Tom's persona in front of the GP and his peers, although I'm not sure the industry big wigs care so much as long as Tom sells movie tickets and puts bums in the chairs.
>>547 The dinner pics were taken at Jar restaurant, says the dailymail. Not in favor of a slapped together Night Manager sequel, unless LeCarre writes every word of it himself. Maybe Hugh and Laurie could do another LeCarre adaptation for the BBC? And I think Suzanne Bier would be great at directing the next Daniel Craig Bond film. They need a woman at the helm!
Maybe this time we'll get poodles instead of afghan dogs and ballerinas shoes.
I'm laughing at all the stans on Tumblr and the CB verandah club with their "sensible" talk, all bending over backwards to coddle and excuse Tom's speech. Even going so far as to say he didn't need to apologize. He's a 36 yr old man who does not need handling with baby gloves. Let him get a dose of reality and life when he messes up. Then maybe he'll ACTUALLY start being the intelligent man he constantly pretends to be.
>>549 I wish Tom well. And I like this Gucci jacket (not so sure about the tie : ) But I think that Gucci high fashion suits an actor who has a more eccentric, eclectic, and bold approach to red carpet fashion. Like Jared Leto, or Robert Downey Jr., who embrace wild styling for men. Tom is a former prep school kid, who dresses like a former prep school and university kid, but with a slight city update. The classic navy and grey pea coats, the navy sweaters from RL, a messy collegiate-like hoodie, and those suede desert boots like Steve McQueen wore in the original Thomas Crown Affair to avoid wearing sneakers. If anyone from Team Tom reads this page, please reference Mcqueen photos from the Thomas Crown Affiar to get Tom a little closer to this look, if that's what you're going for.
>>534 Sorry, fellow board members, but clearly I'm Lex's favorite. The Tay to her To. The Hiddle to her Swift. You're all 'bitches'(who need to burn, apparently), but remember the time she called me a 'cunt?' Good times, good memories.
>>552 He is rising higher on the embarrassingly cringeworthy / unlikable meter, season by season, year by year.
He needs un-inelegant lessons and possibly to see a psychologist to help build his self-worth.
Sam Neill inadvertently resurrects Tayto. How strange this intersection (license plate and car model) is!
Older article from the Australian paper on the relationship between celebrities and the paps they call to take their pics, and build their brands. Just thought it was interesting.
Glad that Tom sent out the GG awards speech clarification/apology post, since so many viewers questioned it. Apparently, Riz Ahemd showed his support for Tom on twitter, and Christian Slater retweeted Ahmed's tweet support for Tom, since Slater's facial expression was used by some to indicate his mixed feelings about the speech.
Yesterday, Christian Slater started following Tom on Twitter and he followed him back.
>>557,558 TH's people must have called in favours. The GG were on the 8th, Riz's tweet happened on the 11th, Slater waited for Riz before moving and yesterday the follow on twitter. Damage control is damage control. Anyway, it hardly matters, unless media will run another series of articles about this, no one except TH's stans will even notice, what will remain is what happen soon after it, Kong's promo tour starts in a matter of weeks, I'm sure TH will be asked about it unless Luke can avoid it.
These photos are of him and a journalist who interviewed him last week for GQ, Taffy Akner. It appears they ran into each other on the street. The Mirror didn't bother to name her, just called her 'mystery brunette' for the click bait.
>>560 Thanks. This last you mentioned, Torrilla posted it.
>>560 So paps hang around his house in the evening now? I have to say I think that is a tad creepy.
He followed a girl by mistake. She had several retweets mocking him for his GG speech but she's deleted then by now.
I've always wondered how this "follow by mistake" works, particularly in a case like this. This girl hasn't sent him any tweet, nor she put a mention in those RTs, so how did he find her?
>>565 God knows. I find it hard to believe that this one was deliberate though!
>>565 He found her by doing something we've always suspected (and had confirmed by his LIKE of a tweet in the summer) him of doing: searching his name on twitter, not just his tag. She didn't tag his name or @ him. In fact, all she did was retweet some tweets from others. So the only way to have stumbled onto her account is by searching his name.
>>567 That's very interesting. Presumably while scrolling through his mentions he then hits a follow button by accident - what they used in the City to call a "fat finger trade."
In re homily, I think that TH isn't after millions of followers or likes on social media. If he were he would be more assiduous about tweeting and especially about IG where one might think he could gain lots of followers by posting BTS pics from set. I might however substitute the word "awards" for likes and retweets. I think he has been/still is gunning for big awards and that that's has changed his behaviour. E.g. using the EO relationship to try and leverage publicity for ISTL, presumably in furtherance of that ever elusive Oscar nom. I do genuinely think that if you had asked him 5 years ago whether he would do such a hung he would have been appalled.
Such a hung? Such a thing!!
>>568 I don't think he wants followers or likes either - at least, not anymore. 2011 TH maybe did. I was more thinking along the lines of 'Stay off SM because those aren't the people whose opinions count.' His tag would have been soul-crushing for him post-GG. He should really do what he says he does: not look.
>>568 Ixnay the elizabethyay olsenya. That's how she's summoned.
>>567 I thought about the GG hashtag, but your option works too.
New PR strategy is to follow people who mock him to force them to regret making fun of him, passive aggressive at his best.
>>570 It is telling that he seems to have done this in the last 24 hours. In other words, as soon as he was free of his handlers, and not hanging out with friends, he went on twitter (I guess in downtime while travelling home). Just the worst time to look, when you have nobody with you to help you laugh it off.
>>572 Maybe. One of her retweets had a GG hashtag. But that's a very imprecise way to find out what people are saying about him in particular. The GG tag would have been mostly Meryl. The tweet he liked over the summer had no hashtag and wasn't @ him. It only had was his full name - I recall. My money would be on TH looking for opinions of TH.
>>574 I'm assuming your comment about being a slave driver is a joke!! I did wonder whether Olly had parted ways with TH but it strikes me as a laughably easy gig compared to, say, being a PA for a city type.
>>573 That's true - can't say I see the point of it, I mean seems like a big waste of time, when all he had to do was read Michael K :)
All his crazy fans are following the girl now. They probably think she's the mystery brunette.
>>575 Not a joke. Olly's work ethic and hectic schedule rank alongside QEII and Prince Philip's. He's the hardest working man in PA-dom. (A total joke!)
Tom, Hugh Laurie, and others backstage at the GG Awards, talking about what their last meals on Earth would be, etc. By ABC, GMA.
New developments! Taffy is trolling Mirror. She has a request for them and the rest of humanity.
>>578 I think the Queen probably works a lot harder than Olly, especially considering she is 90. Maybe that lazy pair the Duke and Duckess of Cambridge (who every year do fewer royal engagements than anyone else!).
I checked out Olly's IG and he appears to be taking a (very extended) holiday at his mother's, assuming the dog he keeps photographing is hers.
>>581 Maybe Olly is with TH's mother being a surrogate son. That may be a requirement of his employment. Mindfreak! He has to wear a blonde wig and answer to the name Tom. And he has to do all of TH's apologizing for the papstrolls along the beach. Maybe Olly is the hardest working PA!
BBC One just aanounced a brand new John Le Carre adaptation of The Spy Who Came in From the Cold to follow TNM! They used Tom's name for clickbait, but no word if he, or Hugh, or Bier will be involved, yet. Richard Burton played the lead role in a feature film version, so we'll see. Tom was spotted on the tube in London, somewhere on twitter, btw.
Tom at Twickenham Studios in London, twitter quotes below. Tom said Hi, and thank you in response.

Twickenham Studios is launching an exclusive Private Members' Club, @TW1_TheLounge on Tuesday 17th January 2017!
Pics of Tom, out a breakfast in London, wearing glasses and his usual duds.
New trailer for Shitty Island
>>588 I'm going to agree with Coach. It's so choppy which makes me worry about the story. But movies like this aren't really about plot. TH will still talk about 'the amaaaaaazing myth' and 'how Kong reminds him of Prince Hal' but people will go to this to see a big gorilla crush stuff.
>>589 hahaha I haven't even noticed the fake beard, I got too used to it this summer =P
I don't know about people going to see this film, the number of visualizations for these trailers are alarmingly low, there doesn't seem to be that much interest.
Anyone remember the bar scene reshoot that was filmed a few months ago, and how we all said that one of the options was to provide exposition for a craply chaotic movie? Now we see a bar scene with TH asking "who or what am I tracking?"
Who or what am I tracking?
>>592 Oohhhh I wanna try!
4. His sinking public image
5. How many times he's ridiculed in his Twitter mentions
Razzies noms were announced today. Neither TH or any of his films received nominations (didn't expect they would; they weren't that bad and neither was he)...and since Worst Showmance and Worst Performance as a Fake Boyfriend aren't categories, TH will need to wait for the BAFTAs for his next PR cock-up...I mean possible acceptance speech (and subsequent apology).
Ouch and OUCH.
The author goes in hard on TS and TH is really little more than a mere afterthought. I will say that she only scores half points on the criticism against TH. The speech was tone deaf though it didn't smack of white saviorism - not to me. Perhaps just saviorism in general.
>>591 isn't it amazing how in films, whenever you need a former soldier capable of dealing with the end of times, you can always find one in a bar? He is never ploughing the land pretending to be crazy!
>>595 BAFTA TV are in May, in the meatime, while he obviously didn't get any nomination for BAFTA film, he will probably atttend as a presenter, so red carpet and interviews!
>>596 That's what I have been saying all along. Worse, because Jake was much younger, 27/28, so what happened with TS it's easier to dismiss. 35 years old TH doesn't get a pass, he should have known better than that.
>>596 She makes a fair point about TS and the march, if you tweet about it you might as well joined the crowd. The veen went global so it wasn't that difficult to find a march to join.
As for TH, too bad the journalist ignores TH's proclaims of supporting women, or she would have another reason to base her theory on.
TH is currently sending JVR the world's biggest muffin basket. He's not going to have the most problematic personal life on the Shit Island promo tour!!!!
>>601 Holy! Has TH already stopped following her on twitter?
We were right in naming the film Shitty Island.
Google and youtube trends already showed little interest in this film, now it's DOA. Legendary is probably wishing they sacked JVR when they could, because JVR isn't denying the event in the hotel, he's complaining about it going public - and the blackmail, but he needs to provide evidence to support that one.
>>603 et al
Best comment in the DM: "She is trash and he should never be photographed naked."
>>604 Yes, your nickname for him was spot on. I remember when JVR was scouting for locations we talked about him and his twitter full of boobs. I think we even wondered if JK Simmons and Keaton left because of him.
Of course TH followed her! It happened when they were filming in Hawaii (we were busy with the whole EO&Hawaii situation), Furlan was there too. Even Olly followed her on twitter (although she didn't follow him back, only TH).
Why do all these reality TV stars look the same?
While JVR is not the first stoner to make feature films, I do hope he surrounded himself with some clear minded people to help put his chaotic thought processes into action. What a peanut. I wonder if his assistants main task was to source reefer and strippers.
That pickup and fill in all the plot holes bar scene looks cheap. Seems they ran out of budget for a decent beard. I very much doubt TH's personal makeup artist applied it- Bill Corso is a genius.
PS. What a twat, cheating on his high profile social media star gf, leaving evidence on his phone and being shocked and outraged she leaked them. I see no other outcome from this scenario, it's a forgone conclusion.
Let's hope his inability to see the forest for the trees doesn't play out in cinemascope.
A director betrayed by a camera is highly amusing. I suppose he didn't read TH's memo about unsolicited photo/video and everyone having a smartphone these days.
>>606,607,608 I thought the budget would be higher than that, moving all that equipment to so many different locations, not to mention luxury hotels and post production.
As for TH, the possible reasons might go from money to better to work than not. But I fail to see how this film helps him. If it's a success, the cast is star studded and TH's role doesn't seem to be central, so it'll be a shared merit. If it's a flop, the blame will be at JVR's and TH's feet, they certainly aren't going to blaming it on Oscar winner Larson and SLJ.
Does anyone know what cafe Tom had breakfast in, in the recent instagram pic, because it didn't look like Chamomile or G&W?
>>611>>606>>607>>608 IMO, this film is a no win, no loss deal for Tom. People are not particularly interested in a King Kong film, and are certainly more interested in Godzilla. Not to be mean to the cast, but this series of films is just about raking in special effects dollars from the international markets. Tom gets to play a macho, kind of a leading man part, but it's an ensemble film, and he's not the designated star. If the script isn't cohesive, the editing is disjointed, the effects dodgy, and the film under performs, it will be JVRs fault, and reviewers will just continue to question why studios make these tent pole films. I wish Tom success, but I kind of wish he wanted a career like Damian Lewis. He could rock a mature, sophisticated Homeland type of show, and bring in an award or two, and do theatre in between seasons. But Tom wants to be up there with Macavoy, Fassbender and Hardy. I could have seen him in the Fassbender part in A Dangerous Method. I also could see him as Amy Schumers nerdy love interest in a comedy like in Train Wreck. Weird thought, though.
OT: What did Italy do to deserve this?
>>613 You are so spot on. This article from refinery29 asks are Selena and Weeknd "Hiddleswifting" us? Ouch. Selena can get away with this probably because she hasn't been stunting with bfs for 10 years to create lyrics, like TS. At 23 you get a pass with a few PR relationips, but at 27 and older, people side-eye you. And this couple is OTT, but not utterly physically awkward with each other. Selena is a bit better with body language. Although she is wearing a sundress and heels in the middle of winter, with everyone else in coats...
More silly Bond rumors. Tom is mentioned. Priyanka Chopra wants to play Bond, apparently. Daniel Craig is Bond, period. B Broccoli is even producing his off broadway production of Othello.
Tom's on Graham Norton again on February 17, with Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, Ricky Gervais, and reunited with Tinie Tempah. I hope it goes well. Gervais is a loose cannon.
Who's ready for Kong Skull Island? Anyone? Yeah, me neither. But it's coming!
>>613,614 They became a verb! Maybe they'll make it into the Oxford Dicitonary.
>>616,617 Well, even if Norton were to make a joke, it's pre-recorded isn't it?
>>617 Brie, no. Just no. Don't even try to make it look as if this film is anything besides CG monsters fighting each other. Plus, TH doesn't really need a new flop and Marvel doesn't want Captain Marvel to be their first. Follow Anon. advice, do your promo for comic nerds and be happy with that.
Speaking of Kong there was this article that digs into Kong and Associated Monsters and the film in general
>>620 What an atrociously written article (the Coming Soon one).
Sample sentence: "The main conflict in the film centers on the divide between the group in how they’re going to fulfill a mission they may have gotten in over their heads about."
Here be my contribution, complete with BBCAmerica sass.
>>622 These Kong articles are certainly good for a laugh,
"It turns out as well as doing his research, Hiddleston worked closely with director Jordan Vogt-Roberts" - was whipped cream involved?
But yesterday I read this pearl "Kong: Skull Island's Creatures Inspired By Miyazaki Anime"
>>624 I have to say, I think TH has finally found his métier with this film. He is right on message with the pretentious crap that is spewing out of the publicity department. Not eh case with his previous films: Marvel clearly wasn't interested in the Shakespearean arc of his character since they fired Branagh after one movie; and Legendary marketed CP as a straight up horror movie, not as a "Gothic Romance"....
>>625 That's true and if her interviews are anything to go by, he even found a partner in crime in Brie. Not that this is a good thing for him.
>>625 His pretentious, bullshit-filled forte. I predict 'myth' will be the buzzword for this tour. I can we see him waxing about Shit Island being just like the Odyssey?
>>626 She's onboard. I glimpsed an article where she talked about how the male characters in the film represent the 'animus' and her character is more about the 'anima.' This is why her character is better able to connect with the giant CGI monkey...obviously. I stopped reading.
I recall reading that TH was on board this project from the concept/ origin stage (conceived most likely in seedy hotel rooms with reefers, strippers and whipped cream) with particular emphasis on character design.
I would conclude that all pretentious referencing in this press tour is entirely his fault.
Hopefully they're saving the Odyssey namedrop for Samuel L
>>627 Maybe they should just let Kong do the promo
"Mr Kong, please tell us how it was working with TH?"
"Well enough, he came up with this idea that his character would show his love for me by wearing a tshirt, but I told him I'm no leggy blonde"
>>629 The boy is always hustling. We saw that in 2016: never-ending promo tour, never-ending showmance, DEFCON 2 with fans to recoup goodwill lost in Storm Tayto. Then it was off to sunny Sudan and the GG speech to tie in with his Unicef charity. It's been a whirlwind of shitty PR followed by apologetic behavior or actual apologies.
>>630 About Beckam, if true it wouldn't surprise me, his(their) lifestyle makes it look like Unicef is a means to an end. It'd be sad for the kids he visited with Unicef, who tend not to care about actors/actresses, but idolize football players.
>>631 My American brain didn't think of this! Those kids are probably confused when TH shows up (Loki who?) but a football star like Beckham would be unforgettable.
>>632 Was it the same one he stopped off at when they were having a PR motorcade to mummy's house? Did he buy two coffees out of habit? Was he smiling maniacally until he realized there were no paps or people with cameraphones? And most importantly, was his mother surprised TS and the Daily Mail didn't come along for the visit?
>>633 "I was in Australia doing 'Thor: Ragnarok' and I had a house in Queensland and I could run along the beach and I saw humpback whales."
I suppose all of this happened after TayTo ended, Tayto took over a hotel and TH's runs were supervised and photographed for posterity. The lack of private jet and SUVs allowed the man to go back respecting nature. How surprising.
Naomie Harris claims that she empathized with Tom during his GG speech, because it's so hard to tell an effective story when you're nervous, and she thought it was unfair that he was criticized to the extent that he was.
According to Elizabeth Debicki of TNM, Tom is perfectly perfect in every way. Hmmm...Tom is right up there with Mary Poppins, her magical snaps, and talking umbrella that flies, apparently. Blah. The Dailymail is so silly.
Do you remember when a couple of months ago we read about TH and Hard Boiled https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/nov/22/tom-hiddleston-and-ben-wheatley-to-reunite-for-frank-miller-adaptation-hard-boiled-comic
and we laughed about the idea? (we weren't the only ones http://www.laineygossip.com/Tom-Hiddleston-in-talks-to-star-in-adaptation-of-Hard-Boiled-comic-book-with-Warner-Bros/45575)
>>638 I know nothing about Hard Boiled except that this title does not describe TH...at all. Also I think I've worked out his process for 'picking' a project:
>>638,639 Maybe it's also a therapeutic choice for him. He seems to go a bit method in his technique.
Some Tay Tay cardboard cutouts placed directly in his line of fire while filming could really draw out his inner demon.
Also, the character has a lot in common with his hairline.
>>638>>639>>640 In my humble opinion, Tom needs to pick better written, more cohesive scripts, with propulsive dramatic narrative arcs. Tom's problem is that he seems to pick creative and avant garde directors (del Toro, Ben Wheatley) and picks leading man roles, at the expense of the strenghth of the scripts that he choses. Tom kicked his tail preparing for and acting in Crimson Peak, High Rise, and I Saw the Light. Lighting a candle for King Kong : ) But the films were uneven because they had uneven scripts, and had odd pacing. Tom was a great supporting player in Midnight in Paris and War Horse. I would like him to focus more in that direction, and keep and eye out for a leading man role in TV, theater, or an indie film. Not sure how I feel about anyone else besides Daniel Craig as Bond, but Daniel got Bond due to his performance in the indie gangster drama Layer Cake, and his theatre credits.
Tom's not mentioned as a cast member of Jez Butterworth's new play, The Ferryman. Oh well.
>>642 I remember Anon called this one when the Crazy Intelligent blog was speculating about it (and probably making travel arrangements). I can't recall what CI said about it but she was probably as wrong about it as she is about most things, e.g., the voyeur movie, Tayto being real, half of her blog's name.
I did say I thought it unlikely - it was slated for a West End transfer from the start (now confirmed), which I thought unlikely, as it would seriously interfere with movie ambitions. I also have never thought he is a Royal Court kind of man. As you probably know they only do new drama. I see him preferring tried and tested theatre, not new writing (not but what, Jez Butterworth is pretty much a sure thing).
Tom's latest GQ interview is out. Here are his thoughts about Tayto. I am leaving them here without comment because I am, for once, speechless:
“He explains that he wants to be honest with me, that it would be hypocritical of him to talk about honesty in the world and then not be with me. I have to understand, he says, that a relationship is between two people, that it doesn’t belong to him alone. But like David Cameron now knows, it is neither practical nor wise to let rumors hang in the air. He wants me to know that he has no regrets, he says, “because you have to fight for love. You can’t live in fear of what people might say. You know, you have to be true to yourself.”
This is the whole article, for anyone who cares to read: http://www.gq.com/story/tom-hiddleston-cover-profile
>>646 I had just seen the photos at Torrilla and read the cover "Tom Hiddleston is here to conquer America" and laughed and thought 'wow, we are always on time discussing this guy', but this! I think a need a moment.
Actually you have to read the article. All of you. And play a game I just invented called "count the lies." Here's one obvious one to get you all started. There are more subtle lies in the article as well:
“The truth is, it was the Fourth of July and a public holiday and we were playing a game and I slipped and hurt my back. And I wanted to protect the graze from the sun and said, ’Does anyone have a T-shirt?’ And one of her friends said, ’I’ve got this.’ ” The friend pulled out the “I ♥ T.S.” tank top that Taylor’s friends are contractually obligated to own. “And we all laughed about it. It was a joke.”
Goodness, is this even an interview? It's like she started with the intention of doing an interview and she ended writing an apology for TayTo. Honestly, this might just be my nail in the coffin.
>>649 I lost count and I don't even know where to begin with the content.
Her friends are contractually obligated to own a “I ♥ T.S.” tshirt, and you, 35 year old man, didn't find that idiotic?
>>651 He actually might not have brought a t shirt. He was depicted in one picture standing in a corner holding a glass of wine and wearing a blazer and slacks. I think Whatsinaname baptised that photo "the wallflower".
But the rest of it. Jesus H Christ. "“Taylor is an amazing woman,” reads the prepared statement Tom Hiddleston has memorized and is now giving me."
I just noticed something hilarious. When Tom lies, he starts his sentence with "the truth is..." Anyone recall that interview with THR in July?
"Well, um. How best to put this? That notion is — look, the truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we're very happy. Thanks for asking. That's the truth. It's not a publicity stunt."
I can't figure out if half the things in the interview are sarcasm or truth. I feel like Sheldon from Big Bang going "was that sarcasm?" From the "contractually obligated TS tank top joke among friends" to the "officially prepared statement" to the whole him being unprepared for the cameras following them around on their tour. It's a great interview for his stans though but I seriously can't figure out the sarcasm-honesty level in this...
It's embarrassing on both sides. How could a journalist worth this name buy this crap? A girl had a tshirt that fitted TH? None of the other dudes had a tshirt?
>>652 You can tell the way the interviewer wrote him telling that TS tank story and him saying it's a joke among friends, he knows HE was the joke. That's the one thing I was able to understand in that mess of an interview. I'm still shaking my head over his supposed awe at the cameras following them. Please don't expect us to believe the nonsense that they weren't called in by the publicist.
Maybe this is an alternativeinterview and in a few days GQ will publish the real one.
I am afraid I think this was a calculated and untruthful attempt to kick over the traces of a fake relationship that went badly wrong, and in such a way as to restore his reputation with his stans. Which it has done. Tumblr is already awash with dewy-eyed comments about his bravery and his sad puppy dog face when talking about how he loved TayTay and was bravely trying to be open about his relationships.
>>658 hahahahahahah! Given how things have been lately, I'm not surprised. Maybe Buzzfeed will leak the real interview lol
>>659 Yeah, it's a great interview for this fans who were looking to forgive him. If he hadn't worn the TS tank, I'd say Tom is cunning and did a sob story to win back his gullible female fanbase but this summer proves he's anything but cunning and neither is his PR. I'm also from the "relationship was real but sold to the highest bidder for fame" camp. I always felt they both decided to go extra hard on the fame by pretending they wanted to control the narrative but really he wanted to be a famous celebrity and she wanted to drown out Kimye but it all backfired. However with that in mind, I do believe Taylor forms friendships and relationships solely with publicity in mind because that's always been her MO and I don't think Tom is smart or savvy enough to play that game despite his thirst and that's why he got screwed over in the end which is not what he signed up for.
>>659 Also, let's be honest lol we all know Tom really loves his career. To expect us to believe he was in "love" in a supposed three month relationship...nope. Even the interviewer picked up on it that he didn't do impressions to make her laugh but rather got some sort of self validation out of the whole thing. The thirst is very real.
>>659 His stans already thought it was all TS's fault, he only provided them with the material to make it official. I'm not sure though how this will appeal to the general public.
Do you think he realizes that now he opened the TayTo door, everyone will want a piece? Or was that the purpose? Because, if I'm reading this interview right, difficult as it is, TS was the one who did the breaking and the one who wanted the publicity? So you can bet TS won't stay mum.
>>662 Oh, I think he was up for wearing the tank top and that proves he is cunning. Just not cunning enough to realise that it was going to make him look like a tool.
I do however think he is easily cunning enough to sell the sob story to his fan base. This whole interview is a leaf out of the TH playbook: the "authenticity", the impressions, the recycled anecdotes about the family, talking about Purity by Jonathan Frantzen (has he actually read any other books?), and the insistence on the bare faced lies about how they were "just acting normal, the photos were taken without consent" etc. He has added cooking to the repertoire of cliché, though. He was telling everyone about his spag bog at the BAFTA GG tea party.
I don't want to harp on the t-shirt story because there is so much other shit to cover but...he had a t-shirt. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/339458890646294418/ He flew out of Heathrow in a perfectly fine, graze-covering tee. So unless he threw this t-shirt out of the escape hatch on his BA flight (those don't exist), he had a shirt. I want to also point out that there are two pictures of him - one on the slide and one in the pool - without a shirt. I suppose those pictures were taken before the injury requiring a doctor-recommended I <3 T.S. t-shirt. Also, he went from Taymerica straight to Oz...where he was spotted many times in...wait for it....wait...t-shirts. I don't think he picked those up at duty free. It's a small lie in a sea of bigger lies but it makes my blood boil because it is saying, to some extent, 'People will buy this weak shit.' It insults my intelligence.
>>654 Yep. That's the truth...I didn't have a tshirt...thank you for asking. The text between the ellipses can be filled in with any load of shit.
>>666 I agree, parts of this interview are off record, but magically makes it on record. It feels calculated and badly executed.
>>667 Thank you, I did remember but was too annoyed to look. it's as insulting as that interview with his buddy Cumberbatch and his unsolicited photos. They are taking us all for idiots.
>>666 You know what it is? I just read it on someone's tumblr and they are correct - Tom is playing victim. Just like Taylor. He's going the whole being personable and getting his heart broken when all he was doing was being "authentic and honest". He is playing victim and doing a whole boo hoo sob story so his willing stans will forgive him.
I guess now we get to sit back and watch who plays victim better - Tom or Taylor. Because I'm sure we're going to get something from Camp Swift on this interview.
To those of you saying his die-hards will eat this up...yes, they already have. I went to have a look at his twitter tag. Here's a general sampling:
>>649 I've read it. It might be easier to play 'Find the Truths' - it will take less time but more concentration.
Also, did this woman suggest that all solidly middle-class families need to do to send three children to private schools, one of them being the eye-wateringly expensive Eton, is 'sacrifice?' Sacrifice what? Organs on the black market?
>>671 Fires of hate about says it. I feel very over him. What is left of the shrivelled heart of my fandom? I like looking at pictures of him naked. That's about it, really. The photos accompanying the article show that he is still pretty beautiful, with fabulous bone structure.
>>672 Does Taffy know that it costs £30k a year to send a kid to Eton? My father didn't earn that much so he would have had to sacrifice food, shelter and paying taxes (sorry, HM Treasury! We are all in this together!). And when I was a kid, £30k a year was well above the average salary and solidly into middle class territory - still is above average salary even now.
>>673 Dammit I forgot! You guys DID predict it right then. Well now I definitely believe this whole GQ thing is an even bigger farce than the summer romance tour.
>>677 Yeah! He's really playing it up to the stans. He tries so hard to be cunning but too bad all his schemes blow up in his face though lol Not this one though, it's won him his disheartened stans back.
Hi - new here, but had to de-lurk after the GQ puff-pastry forcefeed. Does his team really think no one will notice the timing of this attempt in relation to SI promotion?
>>681 Welcome!! >>678 Nothing much to say about the article except, I feel as if I need some Scotch to wash it down with. Obviously, I'm not buying what he's selling. Fake Tayto had to be addressed in a controlled environment/interview environment before the maelstrom of Monkey movie PR starts. The only positive things were that Tom took back his narrative. Also, Tom said such glowing things about TS, that in the eyes of the general public, she will look foolish/mean spirited if she writes a cruel song about him. And if you are casual reader of GQ or a Stan Tom fan, he could come off as a humble quiet living/nerdy guy who seemed overwhelmed and wounded by the media's coverage relationship and the split itself, unlike TS, who is known to court and manipulate the press. She swanned out of that gym in from of the press on break-up day like she didn't give a hoot about him. We'll see how this blue-eyed Bambi works for Tom. My goodness.
So many comments; instead of referencing as a reply, I'll just add my comments after reading this article twice.
>>653 Ah yes, the endearing Wallflower photo. Joke was on him there, no matter what the HS stans say.
What I want to know is what TS said when she 'withdrew her love.' Was it on that weird flight where there's footage of her getting on her plane at the airport then leaving (off camera?)?
Even Lainey Gossip is giving this article and TH's performance the side eye.
>>681,682 Yes, yes they do. Because they take us for mugs. He doesn't want to have to Charleston around questions or have his people sprinkle Tayto moratoria around. Enter Taffy and her fluff piece (with a weird tone, yes >>683). He's heartbroken about this real relationship, he's the good guy, she's the bad one, etc. He's hoping the ensuing sympathy will work on journalists as much as on the fans. Journalists probably won't buy what he's selling either (so many of them didn't when Tayto was touring). But because of this sob story, they'll maybe be reticent to ask about Tayto for fear of being seen as cruel, i.e., he's already addressed that, he's upset about the end of the 'relationship,' why did you have to bring it up in the middle of his movie promo?!?
Good lord, I honestly can't make it all the way through the article it gives me so much second hand embarrassment. And as much as he says authentic the entire thing seems anything but.
Not even laineygossip is going for the interview. Really picked up on Taffy's tone.
Has this been posted? Were we all so shellshocked by the GQ article that this didn't get posted?
>>689 Of the 60 reactions to the article, 45 of them are 'Bitch, please.' And only one of them is mine! I swear.
TH can fool the moist-eyed fangirls but not the Dlisted readers.
Just to finish Shirtgate here is a pic of him on the same day wearing a quite different t shirt: http://madsrocketship.tumblr.com/post/156994064190/when-to-just-never-bring-it-up
>>691 Looky there: the shirt from the airport pics, I believe. To quote Buddy the elf: You sit on a throne of lies.
If only there hadn't been photographic evidence to contradict your story, TH. If only TS hadn't so carefully and completely documented that entire weekend.
And his PR team has already gotten to Gossip Cop to reinforce the spin! (I'd link but I don't know how to yet).
>>693 Heynon - You need just copy and paste the URL. If you're on your phone, it may be harder to isolate the page in your phone's browser first before you copy it.
>>694 Thanks; I was on my phone. Here's the Gossip Cop link: http://www.gossipcop.com/tom-hiddleston-taylor-swift-relationship-real-gq-cover-story-interview/
It rehashes the article and - surprise - rates it "10 - Real" that TH said that the relationship was real. I'm dizzy from all the spinning.
Dear me. The blind posts are already claiming that Tom is in the closet, Luke is the bf, and the US GQ cover was the deal if Tom talked about Tayto. If that were true, I would actually empathize with the entire situation.
Welcome Heynon! You're our first delurker for a while. Enjoy the madness!
>>689 Michael K gives me life. Like New Anon he also sees the sarcasm and snark in the interview. I read the interview again, I see it as well, but from what I read at CB, Taffy says on twitter she adores TH so I don't know.
I read the thread about this at CB, the stans didn't disappoint me in their hypocrisy.
Do you remember when EO's former fiancée, Boyd, in an interview a year after the fact said how heartbroken he was when she broke up their engagement (an engagement after a couple of years of relationship) on the phone? Do you remember TH's stans calling him whiny, to get over it? Because they needed to defend their precious TH from the accuse of being the cause? Ok.
>>699 That is the most well analyzed and deft interpretation of the entire article Couch! So multi-layered. I agree with you completely on the subtle shading about her saying she 'said' she wanted a relationship, him being infatuated with the persona she presented, etc. FYI, by framing a narrative, I just meaant that was 'a version' of a story to the press. The average reader is no where near as insightful or as informed as you are, sadly. IMO, Tom seems to not only LOVE being LIKED by co-workers/fans/journalists, but revel in the spectacle of the affect he has on people. Not sure if that is b/c he has a 'trained seal' bit like most actors, or b/c he is a middle child, or b/c he was sent to boarding school Thus, rather than stay silent on TS, or joke of the tank top (either would have worked for me), he chose this faux wounded sensitive soul, bit. He longs for that 2012 version on Tom to still resonate with people. TS is on thin ice, b/c no one believes that she doesn't have the press on speed dial, unlike Tom whose private life is comparably less recorded.
Tom liked this tweet. I am going to hurl.
>>702 In case he unlikes it, it said: "@taffyakner When us, his fans, think we can't possibly adore him more, you give us this, and we swoon all over again. Thank you."
>>701 I'm not sure it's a matter of how much you know, outside UK and US, TH is Loki and the guy who dated TS, this interview changes nothing. Outside the US and UK, TS is a pop idol who writes songs about her ex-bfs, nobody bothered with Kanye, which is why she is capable of staying afloat, so I wouldn't say at all that she is on thin ice.
>>702 If you can, make your way to a pair of baby feet or emergency alcohol. Or just do what TH did during Taymerica: sob/scream into a pillow. Make sure you wear your protective tshirt so the screaming doesn't aggravate your graze.
>>700 Did we expect anything less than this level of hypocrisy from that lot?
>>701,705 I think they may both be on shaky ground. Tayto got a rough ride from all levels of print and social media during their tour. And from fans. They are still occasionally mocked and compared to other possible fauxmances. If either pull another fake relationship anytime soon, it will need to be very convincing or people will light the coals and get out the rakes. The shaky ground is perhaps evidenced by their behavior. He's done this laughable interview because he's fearful of what he may be asked on promo or he 'wants to alter the narrative' - not take it back - but fundamentally change it because the one out there now is dangerous to his reputation and career. She's gone to ground save for a few SM posts and one off concerts, something she rarely does. They seem to know that they're not in Kansas anymore.
Captcha: fiquition (fiction that gives you the sqiucks?)
>>699 "...what happens when the object of that love withdraws but all your love is still there..." could also be read as TH pining for the love many of his fans have withdrawn.
>>707 haha, no I suppose no.
I still think TS is the one who risks less, much less, she was working on her new album so she did few appearances and since she claimed it was TH who wanted the limelight, it makes sense.
>>708 TH doesn't pine over his fans, for the simple reason that as an actor his fans are irrelevant, as CrimsonPeak clearly proved.
This interview was for people in the industry and journalists, it works well as a consequence with his fans, but won't get him new ones. If he had really wanted to clear the air with his fans and merely dispel rumour, posting on facebook would have been enough.
>>710 I agree that TH doesn't care about his fans when he picks roles (like his character in CP, he doesn't seem to have learned that one's choices have consequences!).
And for the article being aimed at the industry and press - yes, it's so obviously timed to SI promotion and trying to fend off hiddleswift questions during the tour ("I've said everything I think need to be said about that in a recent article. Now, back to the mythology of Kong and my charismatic character").
>>712 Ouch! (maybe, as a board, we should start a PR company, we nail it most often than not)
I agree with both of them, I only disagree with the executive editor of Variety when he shows sympathy for TayTo.
>>713 I don't know if I agree with any of it. The 'shit' was a shit sigh. I understand why he had to do it with the impending promo tour but Tayto has been well and truly brought to the surface again. If the BBC is reporting on it and taking advice from 'experts' then Tayto is back.
>>712 This, a thousand times this! I've been thinking lately that TH doesn't understand that he's not an artiste - he's a business owner whose product is himself and whose brand is his public persona. So he can't see that the cumulative impression he gave this summer downgraded his brand and disappointed his 'customers.'
Luke just had to deny to gossipcop that Tom and TS are reuniting.
>>714 True, as I said today to Sosorry, Tayto was only still an issue to him and now he gave the excuse to other media to ask him about it.
The part I agreed with was about his brand taking a hit, not thinking things through, and that this interview was damage control. But I also think that there are so many hits one can take, one single bad event is easier to forget and forgive than a sequence of bad choices. TH is piling up bad moves with great speed.
>>713 I should have said that 'I don't know if I agree' meant that I really don't know what to think. I have no opinion. His brand has been damaged with me but not with the veranda-dwellers so it's hard to say for certain.
>>719 Best part of this article is:
<i>The curious phrase here is “pictures that were taken without consent or permission, with no context.” Given that every attendee at Swift’s July 4 party released a slew of Instagram photos, Hiddleston presumably means the mountain of paparazzi photos on their trips around the world; the morning shows in Australia practically had a meltdown when they arrived. However, Swift is very skilled at avoiding the paparazzi when she wants to.
Those two either-ors: again, his PR should have picked up that slack. If not them, then his managers. To say something like that this many months after the fact is a huge failure of his support staff, IMHO
>>720>>721 It's disconcerting seeing someone you think you respect make multiple career slips like this in such a seemingly obvious way, and continue to watch him clearly distort the truth (silly t shirt story) to save his rep. However, I kind of like that Tom a good actor, but a terrible liar. Even though Tom accidentily shortened the TS relationship by half its entire time frame when he admitted that they had ended as soon as he flew back to AU for Thor 3 following Emmy/SAG campaigning, Tom's ability to seem wounded by the consequential public humilation, loss of his rep, and judgement by the general public (his own fault) in vocal tone, body language, etc. allowed Taffy to portray him as if he is in pain, and hence some STANS and undecided readers do empathize with him. Wild.
>>718 I see. I don't know, the best I can offer is the numbers on his SM (very low) and googletrend showing a decrease in interest.
I forgot that GNS has the audience present! And there's Bafta this weekend, though I have no idea if he is attending.
>>723 No BAFTA attendance for Tom, So far. http://www.bafta.org/media-centre/press-releases/ee-british-academy-film-awards-attendees-2017
Nominees confirmed to date include (in alphabetical order): Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Amy Adams, Andrea Arnold, Andrew Garfield, Anya Taylor-Joy, Barry Jenkins, Casey Affleck, Damien Chazelle, David Hare, David Heyman, David Yates, Denis Villeneuve, Dev Patel, Emily Blunt, Emma Stone, Hayley Squires, Hugh Grant, J.K. Rowling, Ken Loach, Kenneth Lonergan, Laia Costa, Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Nicole Kidman, Pedro Almodóvar, Ron Howard, Ryan Gosling, Tom Ford, Tom Holland, Viggo Mortensen and Viola Davis.
Dear me. Tom's 'chit chat' amateur recipe for spaghetti bolognese is now posted on the bonappetit website, and heavily critiqued. Hand Tom some crocs, b/c he's the new Mario Batali. Apparently Tom served the pasta sauce to Taffy w/o any pasta! I guess he's a toast by day, low carb guy by night, apparently. Beauty first, I guess. Love the honesty.
I just can't with all of this. Taffy's continued desire to be the story, the endless tumblr debates about whether Tom's is the echt recipe for spag bog, the think pieces about whether talking about TayTay was deliberate/inept/shady/helpful/harmful/hearteyes.
>>726 Ha Ha! I vote that it's a conspiracy to make us watch, Anon. Missed the BAFTA prep pic. Maybe he's walking the carpet or will just take pics to promote Kong, but he has to stay incognito by just sitting in the theatre afterwards, like he did at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in Nov 2016? Now watch him turn around and present. Annoying. If not for this summer, and the weird GG speech, the BAFTAs would be a gosh darn victory lap for his GG awards win! Blah for weird decision making!
Here's the BAFTAS stick for TH, and of course he is going to attend! He is no John Lee Miller.
>>728 He's so far back. Don't the organizers know about his bolognese? Rather than the Met pic they should have used a big pot of bolognese. I don't think people are talking about his bolognese enough. Taffy, do another article about it. ;)
>>722 I hate that we have to know that he is a bad liar and lies about silly stuff like that shirt. At this point Anon has all but worked out his tell. I don't want to watch his movies anymore but I do want to play poker with him. He'd be signing over the deed to that house in an hour tops. 'The truth is I don't have a very good hand.' I'd probably get Olly in the deal as well.
>>722 Disconcerted is just how I feel about this (on a good day). I really wish this had been a video interview so we could have assessed his body language directly. What adds to my suspicions about his truthiness is that he speaks so fluently; usually when he has to talk about his personal life, he ties himself into a a pretzel.
Lol Tom just followed Ed Sheeran on twitter. Well isn't that something?
CBS News summary provides some inadvertent mockery: "In a wide-ranging, soul- bearing interview...." Is soul-bearing related to dancing-bearing?
>>720 I figured out why I dislike that "TH does accents for GQ" video so much: It's just a staged, pretending-to-be-adult variation of his linguistic dancing-bear act. Wonder if he will ever realize that what's cute in a 26-year old guy is at best questionnable in a 36-year old man. I join in the group sighing.
Well, the great man went on twitter today to follow Ed Sheeran and make an onanistic comment in response to Samuel West posting a pic of an early TH theatre ticket.
What he didn't do, the self-obsessed little twerp, was tweet about the fact that his fans raised £15 grand for UNICEF. He must know about this because it is all over his tag and because he has tweeted about it in previous years. He hasn't seemingly been on twitter for a couple of weeks and it looks like he went on to collect his birthday greetings. Can't be bothered to teeet 2 words to the fans who donated to charity for his birthday.
>>732,735 I'm no lover of Tay Tay and am certainly not a believer of Hiddleswift #2 but I have to say this Sheeran follow is a rather disconcerting move. Is he trolling his ex?
>>735>>736 I think he's throwing himself a pity party instead of a birthday party and probably still pining after his ex. Dunno if he genuinely cared for her or if he's just sad over his career trajectory so far. Based on that so overly dramatic "halcyon days" tweet combined with that weepy GQ profile, I'd say his follow of Ed Sheeran makes me think he probably wants a second chance with Taylor. God knows why but guess he must have some humiliation kink or some terribly low self esteem.
>>737 Or maybe he followed Ed Sheeran for a normal reason, like he's got two chart topping new singles in the U.K. currently.
>>738 Well, if we go by this summer's hypothesis that "if Team Tom denies something on Gossip Cop, it's probably true," maybe TH <em>does</em> want that second chance. And low self esteem is supposed to be one symptom of boarding school syndrome. Heaven help him, and us, if we get Hiddleswift 2.0. (Going to stock up on tinfoil now....)
>>739 Hiddleswift 2.0 won't happen because Miss Swift does not do takebacksies. I'm sure she uses that word too. Tom is entertaining to watch right now but for all the wrong reasons.
>>740 A word like "takebacksies" just captures the maturity level of hiddleswift so well! And the BAFTA after party pictures of TH should be telling.
Meanwhile, one segment of the fandom is having fun with #pastagate
>>735 Not thanking fans for contributions to the charity that he's supposedly so passionate about is beyond tacky. Maybe he was afraid to look because someone might have referenced his GG speech, which has to be another sad memory.
(This >>738 was not me forgetting to make myself blue)
>>729 I swear I'll be so disappointed if nobody makes a bolognese joke!
>>735,736,737 Iirc, Sheeran was at the 4th of July party, so they met already and TH does have a habit of following trendy people. But yeah, a strange move to make, since one can listen to music without following the artist on SM and this one is bff with your ex.
>>743 Haha at an impostor Couch coming here to emphatically and dramatically suggest it's perfectly normal to follow your ex's bff.
As someone who has many ex's, most of whom are estranged, I find it a bit creepy and stalkerish considering there' s a world of potential friends out there. Go find and follow your own.
I watched the "Tom does accents" video and I have only just managed to uncurl
my toes. I hate it. When he used to do the dancing bear routine he came across as eager to please, which I found rather sweet - this made him look like a smart arse (all that smirking at the camera and the knowing, patronising tone). I also hated his chirpy lower class British person which was the worst stereotype of what a very posh person who never meets anybody working class thinks they sound like.
I am also very over his tumblr fans and their infantile obsession with the goddamn recipe:
1) TA did not disclose the recipe to a waiting world because of your pressure, losers. She was always going to do that because she milks her association with TH to the max.
Clause (ii) of subsection (24) of 49c in the contract reads: PR Boyfriend will at a time determined by PR girlfriend follow on his social media accounts no less than one (1) member of the PR girlfriend's squad members (see attached list).
>>745 Yes! ES and his girlfriend were in the foreground of the pic where TH is in the background looking like a mix of deer-in-headlights and Frankenstein's monster (the casual blazer edition).
>>745 Yes! ES and his girlfriend were in the foreground of the pic where TH is in the background looking like a mix of deer-in-headlights and Frankenstein's monster (the casual blazer edition).
>>751 I double posted on purpose, okay? It was joke...among friends. Okay? It was just a joke!
>>748 Onions, carrots, celery - mirepoix. That's how most red sauces in most cuisines start. These Tumblr fans have never done anything more than open a jar of spaghetti sauce. Which is fine, I didn't do anything but that until I left college. Still I remember my mother and grandmother making cassoulet and sauces from scratch - in went the mirepoix every time.
>>748 hahaha It's amusing how of his recipe the only wrong ingredient is the one they are not talking about i.e. bacon. Bacon is generally smoked and made out of different cuts of meat. Pancetta, instead, is never smoked and it's only made from the pork's belly. The other mistake is the cooking method: oven. For the rest, here's the notarized and registered recipe http://www.itchefs-gvci.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=587&Itemid=976
>>752 Dear old Shakespeare is good for every spin. I'm surprised her feminist fans haven't started tearing him apart just yet, he called TS the 'object' of his love, the object!
>>756 I think bacon can be a great starter. I actually once ate a white ragù (no tomato sauce) in Italy, because that's also an option and I was told modern chefs don't necessarily use just ground beef, but mix ground veal, pig and beef. But let's not tell his fans, before they have another culinary crisis.
>>756 the ONTD thread is great. I forgot that he had an interview soon after the Met Gala were he was asked about him and TS dance off going viral. So much for "I just, I was surprised. I was just surprised that it got so much attention."
>>757 And I put a little sugar and a little cream in my red sauces to mellow them. And no red wine (that goes into me)...again, because I'm a culinary heathen. I do this when my mother isn't watching because she'd slap me and when my husband isn't watching because he'd gripe about the sugar and the added fat.
>>748 The most deliciously meta part of all this is Taffy milking it! TH may have gotten himself played yet again.
And someone has cooked the bolognese recipe and posted the pics. The meal looks like it has the consistency of chili. You all are oracles. Tom must either helm a show on the cooking network, or announce a new project before we all lose our minds. Something esoteric, dry and cerebral on the West End, to drive away the crazies. Please.
>>757 I sometimes use half and half beef and pork mince. If so I don't bother with pancetta (and - hangs head - I do sometimes use bacon, but you can get unsmoked belly bacon here, so it is quite similar to pancetta, except that it is usually cut too thin for this purpose).
>>755 Tom views the world through Shakespeare-tinted glasses. That man is just really over the top with everything.
I'm still baffled about the Ed Sheeran follow but I should file it away along with the Tayto episode as Tom doing things that aren't well thought out.
>>755 It's as if Tom never left university, in his head. When I was at college as a liberal arts student, when I was at the dining tables, sometimes I would slip and start speaking outload to friends as if I was writing a term paper on my laptop. But that was b/c We had to outline and write multiple papers every week. These florid languages pattern would pop out accidentally b/c I was required to use them all the time. Tom needs to work on addressing this, b/c it does not translate to the general public as it does to professors, esp when he is trying to rebuild or rebrand. Although a few comments said that they were able to forgive the GG speech b/c Tom seemed to be such an OTT emotional person in the interview, and therefore he didn't mean to present himself as an Anglo European saviour. Best of luck to Tom on hiring some kind of crisis PR consultant to turn this barge around. Lighting a candle.
>>761 That is made by an idiot who can't read instructions. The recipe says minced carrot and celery. Even I wouldn't call those minced. They're barely cut! I could have torn the vegetables into smaller pieces with my hands.
Film 4 unarchived this hilarious footage of TH inadvertently quoting Anchorman (I'm in a glass case of emotion) while comparing acting to working in mines (Zoolander).
>>766 Good god...what was that verbal vomit? Does he always try to challenge himself to stuff as many pretentious words in a sentence as possible? Mineshafts of human emotion? What on earth??? By the end of that, I couldn't even tell what he was talking about anymore.
>>766 Oh dear. That metaphor ran away with him.
>>767,768 Film 4 must hate him to dredge this up on his birthday.
The real nuggets are the comments attached to the 140 shares, especially fellow aktorrs
Meanwhile he unliked the nauseating tweet. Why does he do this? If you are going to like this stuff at least try not to make it look like you were then told off by your publicist.
>>766 Film4 must have thought they were doing him a favour, but right now, it really wasn't.
From his hair it seems to be from 2012, but he used this same analogy in 2013 too http://www.dailyactor.com/film/tom-hiddleston-acting-playing-
>>770 Once I would have said he liked it by mistake. Once.
I found the original Film 4 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRnw9f5rbN4
The only decent answers: Judy Dench, Leonardo Di Caprio, Olivia Coleman, Zoe Saldana, Kirstin Scotto Thomas. And Keira Knightley because I like her.
>>769 Film4 hates him like Taffy does. The low key shade, or the oblivious shade maybe, is becoming a trend, a worrying one for him.
My husband wants to know what's so funny about being up at 6am on a Sunday. I was nearly crying just from >>768 Anon's summary. But then I watched it and read the comments.
>>774 he's in free fall, will he find a parachute?
Speaking of BAFTA, links to live stream
In other news TH will be in LA for Kong's promo on Friday
"Headed up to Los Angeles this Friday to interview the cast of @kongskullisland. @twhiddleston, @brielarson and @SamuelLJackson. Fun times!"
>>To expand on Anon's great list:
4) He confuses anthropology with archaeology at the start
5) Isn't archeology always in 3D, otherwise known as in real life?
Tom didn't walk the BAFTA carpet, yay! In his interviews, Tom is basically regurgitating the identical theories promulgated by classical Shakespearean acting textbooks. Why he does this, I do not know. Mining the soul of the character, playing tennis with your scene partner when shared lines arise, etc. He speaks in plummy tones b/c the books say to fuse verbal thinking to discern the meaning of the words, with musical thinking by using your voice on specific higher or lower pitches following the verbal patterning of the words, to show how the words relate to each other. "Emphasis" is defined as varying vocal stress on the words, with the vocal pitches on the words, and determining the length to hold each word. The sound patterns of lines is the structural element of emotional expression, and how to give colour and life to the voice when "reading and speaking the score." And you combine your initial scansion of the lines, and lastly your own imagination of how the character is feeling to top it off, vocally. Tom, I'm glad that you studied and you are disciplined, b/c of lot of performers aren't. But please develop an awareness of how all this sounds to 3rd parties who know nothing about you, or know you only b/c of this summer. Fingers are still crossed for him.
Tom looks dapper in his navy tux. No interviews? How is the monkey movie promo going to proceed?
The Telegraph's live blog of the BAFTA's on TH's presentation of the Best Film award: "And Tom Hiddleston, presenting the award, keeps it short and doesn't bang on about his humanitarian work, so that's a double win."
Mock Internet bf valentine from Tom, and his real bday tweet below.
From time to time reading CB serves to something.
The Main Draw is a podcast about tennis, but they had an interview with Taffy yesterday, and she talks for a few minutes about TH, from minute 3 to 7. The podcast title is, needless to say, mystery brunette
>>781 On we go...
>>783 3 tweets? Re-printing the bologese recipe? Multiple GQ posts? I am only in favor of more recipe discussions if Tom is announced as the new host of The Great British Bake off.
Tom Hiddleston @twhiddleston 12m12 minutes ago
>>784 And he was tweeting at about 1 in the morning UK time? Captcha may say it all: "nayope."
Anyone else have the impression that he's swinging widely between being very hyper and being very down?
>>784 (Sorry, this is just too hard to resist) "Lego Loki" has already spoofed TH's tweet-out to Gucci: <link is giving me problems; it's on twitter, Loki_Lego/status/831666751272284160 >
Tom Hiddleston @twhiddleston 1h1 hour ago
Tom Hiddleston Retweeted Marvel Studios
>>788 And wasn't that at 3 AM in the U.K.? Unless he's already in Los Angeles. Insomnia or obsessive phone checking?
There was one still of Loki early in the retweeted video, but it's still not sounding as if he'll be in Infinity War. Really hope he can announce a new (non/voiceover) project soon.
>>784 Another misstep on Twitter? His tweet to Taffy seems to gone. Maybe he realized that she and the Bolognese have been upstaging his new PR tack.
Crap. Who else is he going to thank at 1:00 GMT?
Am I the only one who thinks this slightly maniac behavior does not bode well for GNS? Is Luke looking around to see where he can purchase animal tranquillizers?
>>789 He can't be, TGN is recorded on Thursday, he'll probably leave London right after it to be in LA on Friday.
Normally he would have done his thanks about the interview right away, but he probably thought it was safer to wait, given the reactions.
The Gucci thank you is obviously PR, Gucci wasn't the only brand in that photoshooting, he wore Louis Vuitton and Zegna and others I don't remember, but clearly it's the brand he has a contract with.
He also changed his twitter header to Kong. What was the previous? Still the mountain? He is betting a lot on Kong if he went as far as changing the header, he didn't do that even for ISTL.
You know, I do think this is - odd. He must as Couch says be in the UK to film the Graham Norton Show. So these tweets were at 1 and 2am. Plus he thanked Taffy and then deleted it. That is very hyper and he doesn't usually tweet at 2am GMT. He has also been sharing the love on IG twice - at 2.30am! He sounded either nuts or a bit drunk - "sincere thanks...a huge honour" - for a magazine cover! He has had plenty of those in the past and we haven't seen these outpourings of emotion.
Has the internet taught him nothing? His fans have his tweet screencapped and posted anyway. http://hiddlestonredalert.tumblr.com/post/157254042174/twhiddleston-thank-you-to-taffyakner-for-many
>>795 I think you are right, he was never one for conflict and the fact that he has nobody to blame for this situation except himself seems to be taking its toll. And while a profile interview wasn't a bad idea, he should have left his summer antics out of it, or not talk about it like that.
>>795 I'm sure that he's a bit anxious and frustrated with himself. Tom is still a single man, without the distraction of family life. His passions have always been his prerogative and so he has all the time in the world to focus on the business of being Tom Hiddleston, and trying to get to the next level in his career. He's ambitious and a perfectionist. Had this summer not happened, this year would have been a cakewalk with a GG award win victory dance for his discipline and work ethic, and instead, Tom seems to be stuck in a Groundhog Day recovery mode for this summer. Kong will open based on whether or not people like the visuals of the trailer, and whether they want to see a sequel monster movie this time of year, and probably studios are waiting to see the success of that before they cast him in othe big parts, or he this that a big opening will help him negotiate for the type of role he wants. That's why I think a consultant PR specialist would be helpful. Tom should let someone else take the lead on social media and basic career strategy instead of making little slips and self flagellating himself for them. And he should never do a PR relationship again since theyre always staged and obvious. And maybe look for strong character parts in film or leads on stage. A film like Noctornal Animals would have been lucky to have someone of his caliber. With his looks and training he has time for leading roles in his career. Look at how Colin Firths career evolved over time. Best of luck to him.
>>794 The previous header was a longshot of him, arms outstretched, on a Scottish mountain with the rolling fields below.
>>796 Free of the contractual agreement (maybe?) he felt compelled to talk out the sincerity of his side of it. While it may convince some skeptics that it was not a Hollywood fake romance, it did nothing to remove how naive it was to enter into the romance with TS, given her history.
>>793 A CB nanny with 'sources?' She can take a leap with that bull. A few months ago I posted a link to another board here that had some Marvel spoilers. 100 to 1, her info came from that board, the link for which I saw on Reddit. 'Sources' - my ass.
Seems GNS taped today. One tweet I saw: 'it's obvious TH needs PR coaching.' When some one asked if she would cringe the reply was: depends on how much they edit out.
Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.
You'd think he'd learn not to drunk tweet after that fateful New Year.
Continuing on the 'is he slightly unhinged' train, some feedback from the Norton taping;
Also I am hyper aware I was very visible to red sofa guests where I was sat and Tom Hiddleston needs some serious PR coaching.
I have my cringe face on the ready for this upcoming press tour.
Tom the Piddle Puppy is back. When he sees you, he runs in circles barking shrilly; he looks cute until all of a sudden he deposits a turd at your feet.
>>803 Haha, a perfect metaphor. Let's hope he learns to polish his turds
But he's not nearly as cute. More shrill as Anon said.
>>802 You know they're going to have to edit a lot out to make him 'not cringey.' Maybe they'll just superimpose a pretty picture over TH. When he talks, they'll distort it so that he sounds like the adult characters in the Charlie Brown cartoons.
>>801 some tweets are coming through on tumblr about the GNS - only the complimentary ones. I haven't seen anything describing cringe-worthy behavior yet.
Ask me how surprised I am.
From the GNS: TH plus guests
>>808 Young Hamish's eyebrow's are even more puppy-doggish than TH's!
>>798 And at the very bottom of the online article, it says that the print title will be "“We ♥ T.H.” Even if the writer wasn't dragging him, the copy editor was.
Oh Lord, it's impressions or gushing about TS, or an impression of TS! Please don't cut that out!!!
The level of cringe is, I'm afraid, personal, I found his MTV movie award speech cringe worthy, as when he started dancing at the Chatty Man or when he insisted on singing ISTL during the ISTL promo tour. His previous GNS was awkward, but not embarrassing. Of course all of this was pre-Tayto.
>>798 I get the intention, but what he said was all wrong and I wonder now how much more Taffy cut out.
I still don't understand the GQ's cover title for this profile. What the US got to do with the content, do we have to assume this profile was supposed to re-establish his image in the US?
>>812 Tom has been on the cover a of UK GQ a couple of times. I can imagine that addressing the summer in significant way was part of the deal for his getting the US GQ cover, and Tom's ambition got the best of him. But why would Tom do it in that way? Did the Kong producers encourage he had to to secure the cover? It should have just been a profile of his family, upbringing, love of Shakespeare, etc. And then Tom could have laughed off the t-shirt with a brief comment by saying it was joke among friends and he knew he looked like a jerk, but luckily he loves Tony Stark and T.S. Elliott. But summer was a long time ago, and they had both moved on. He could even have even said that there was a steep learning curve that he still had to learn about PR and that he was naive about the machinery of gossip magazines, and that a choice to step out into the limelight continuously(which he had no prior experience with), for better or worse invoked those to comment. Sad Romeo/blaming the media was a weird choice. Or, Tom should have just shut up like JG and not taken the cover. Jake didn't address his fauxmance with TS for years, and his career is pretty good. But some are buying Tom's BS, b/c if he was could pretend to be so naive about PR aspect of associating with Swift, then he couldn't have been driving the PR game himself. Odd.
>>811 probably just a continuation of the manic behavior from earlier in the day. Did he personally thank everyone in the audience? Did he get too excited and wet himself per Anon? He could be so far gone that he asked DanRan for a PR spell.
>>813 Some are, yes: Those who will buy anything from him are buying this. Others, the media, people with brains or common sense aren't. They will continue to see Tayto, the article and those tweets for what they are - the shrill barks of a puppy about to shit on your carpet.
It just keeps coming. The Guardian has a Kong article today, showing in my search results with the blurb "Apologies for the shirtlessness," says Tom Hiddleston. "I didn't want to show off." The full article explains (sorry, am on phone so can't link) but it feels as if the universe has it in for TH right now.
>>816 It has nothing to do with the tshirt of authentic love.
It's an interview that happened on set while he was filming Kong in Hawaii (although the article was clearly written after the Golden Globes win).
>>817 Oh I know it wasn't about that T shirt. It just struck me as funny that the blurb makes it sound like he was in "extra" mode again. (Not to mention exhibitionist mode, which I do think he's a little prone to also.)
Came here to post a link to the Guardian article but Couch has done her thang and it is already up!
Anyone else notice the anecdote about 30 takes - of a talking scene? Sign of an inexperienced director I'd say.
>>821 Heh. When I watched a bunch of his work back-to-back this summer, I wondered if he has a standard contractual clause that lets him choose to show off some portion of his anatomy even if the script in no way calls for it! I love how Del Toro roasts him for suggesting that for CP.
He does have a beautiful body. Let us not forget the beauteous high res photo of him in a sun lounger in High Rise.
I'd always rather look at his arse than hear him talk out of it....
OMG! I see on Dlisted that it's EO's birthday. Let's speculate over whether they exchanged birthday texts, calls or gifts.
She did call him but only to whisper the word 'Tayto' and cackle like a hyena. She sent him a big cowboy hat just like Hank's so he could hide his face and shame under it.
>>825 He sits at home, wearing his Gucci slippers and a smoking jacket, sipping a pink gin and leafing through scripts looking for the nude scenes. "Luke? Luke!! I'm not doing this, it has me fully clothed throughout. What do you mean, I have to wear a space suit in space?" [hangs up]
Samantha Bee video rips faux Hiddleswift:
“Watching Ryan play moral watchdog was like watching Taylor Swift pretend to be surprised at an awards show — bland and fake, but weirdly compelling,” she joked.
Well, the first cringe-able leak from the GNS taping - TH re-used the story about him peeing on Tom Hollander's jellyfish sting. (multiple outlets)
"Submit Q's now for #kongskullisland's @twhiddleston using the hashtag #KongAskTom, and join us tomorrow for a LIVE Q&A!" Well, that should be festive! (on Twitter at /kongskullisland/status/832322812920557568/photo/1)
>>828 Well, his fans kept saying dating TS raised his profile in the US, if looked at upside down a down curve can be seen as raising.
The mirror states that the tank top did not ruin Tom's style credibility since he got the Gucci campaign. Clickbait with Swift pics as well. Summer summer go away...More projects, less gossip.
>>831 Ha! I'm loving that his most 'insane' fans who staunchly defended any damage to his reputation are now shitting themselves that he has no other projects announced. No, it's not normal. Not at all.
The GQ cover, while marginally increasing his US profile, was obviously negotiated in exchange for an exclusive on TayTo.
There's a lot riding on Shit Island.
>>832 Lord...severe eyeroll at that Mirror article. That one smacks of Luke Windsor trying to do damage control but failing miserably. They just to let that disaster go and move on, like they did for Graham Norton Show.
>>833 Doesn't he have that cyborg Frank Miller comic, Hard Boiled with Ben Wheatley lined up? Or is that just in initial talks and hasn't been greenlit yet? So far the SI trailers and TV spots are underwhelming. I can wait til it comes on Netflix. Maybe Tom will end up having to do theater and TV for a year or two after Shit Island bombs and he realizes that maybe character acting is his forte than trying to be leading man. Leading man days were a thing of the 80s and 90s, the concept is pretty much non existent nowadays.
Many a true word spoken in jest.
I called TH a piddle puppy yesterday. On Graham Norton he told the following anecdote: ‘Very soon after I arrived I got the nickname “Piddle” and the boys made up the rhyme, “Hiddle Piddle did a widdle in the middle of the night.”
PS: Tom, please don't refer to yourself as "engaging".
>>835 I am convinced you are psychic. Pray tell, what do you foresee in Pid's near future?
>>834 He does seem to be quite solidly attached to that project but the project is still in the script development stage so anything could happen. He could be dumped/ the whole project could be scrapped/ we could all die of global warming waiting for it to eventuate.
I think I know to whom you refer, Anonon. I can't be bothered to scroll back though her page though.
This is an itunes podcast with a rather long response to the GQ article on Dirtcast Episode 2, and some clips of Tom's voice. They surmised that Tom's wounded Bambi act was either an award winning performance for PR, or that in truth, Tom hasn't realized that the mainstream attention had subsided since the summer, following the split. Thus, Tom remains literally a wounded Bambi b/c he is tormented by his own misteps with the fauxmance and the misguided GG awards speech. Whereas Tom used to only have to contend with a small coterie of tumblr fans and critics, who are usually in his professional corner, Tom's first foray into the world spotlight lead the world to see him as a conman and a liar. And that emotional judgement, although accurate, is just too much to bear for a man who wants to be liked so much. Truth.
>>838 Yes, he has minions in his agency scouring scripts for him. Only a handful end up in his hands. It's such a myth all he does is read scripts and knock them back.
I won't begrudge him a break, he has been working relentlessly (especially if you include the SUMMER OF LOVE in his work schedule ;)). He does however, as we have all acknowledged, need to repair his image. Perhaps he plans to disappear for a while after Kong promo a la his prominent ex but nothing fixes shit like a blockbuster or an academy award and you have to work to get those. I honestly can't see SI leading to either accolade.
>>833>>834>>838 I think it was Ari on HBO Entourage who told Vince you always book the next job, before your last movie opens, just in case. Hopefully Kong will make a killing, abroad. The only box-office proof leading men left are Leo and Denzel. Tom can always do theater, or the BBC Spy Who Came in From the Cold adaptation, if the writing is good. I think that Tom should conquer Broadway. A Tony award would fuel his ego, and I'd love to see him perform live.
>>837 I hate to say this, but my main prediction if he doesn't step back is a nervous breakdown.
I think he is a fairly fragile personality - a people pleaser, highly ambitious even for this business, thin-skinned and overly concerned wth his online rep (checking his twitter tag and so on).
>>840 Yes I totally agree that if he had a quality project he would have taken it.
He did say he had some theatre project on the books which he was supposed to be announcing as long ago as May. Wonder what happened to that? If he is worried about gaps, I have been mystified why he hasn't gone to the Donmar or wherever and said he wants to do more theatre. They would be bound to say yes as his fame does mean he sells out theatres (smaller venues plus I suppose the added draw of seeing him in the flesh). And a good theatre project with a possible West End transfer is intellectually and critically respectable. A good way to win back the critics, a return to something he does very well, and an opportunity to live at home for a while.
>>842 Certainly if he is having any kind of breakdown he must take time off and I hope there are people close to him looking out for his mental wellbeing. I guess my point is, if his mental faculties are firing all pistons, the boy needs to go back to work. Pronto.
He can have a stress- free promo if he keeps TayTo on lockdown. Now that the 'expose' is out in the open there needn't be more questions. If Shit Island can turn into Polished Turd Island all may be forgotten.
>>844 There's a brand new Howards End adaptation being made by the BBC with Hayley Atwell and Tracey Ullman. Is Tom still age appropriate to play Leonard Bast? Not sure if its prestigious enough for him. Spy Who Came in From the Cold, LeCarre would work. FYI, if the US PR team allowed to Tom to do Tayto, they need to be ditched, ASAP. The London theatre critics seem to be reluctant to reward Tom for his work. They seem to prefer Rory Kinnear and Ben Whishaw (amazing actors, btw.) Unless Tom finds a truly unique play with a killer role (Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time unique and astounding), I'm not sure he'd get his due. Maybe if Tom killed in Much Ado About Nothing, as Benedict? But he'd need a real sparring partner for Beatrice, and even then I think the Olivier awards might slight him and reward his leading lady!
>>842 I half joked about pulling off the highway before Britney Head Shave junction but that business a few days ago with the sad birthday tweet followed by the manic 3am cries for love and attention - it's not the behavior of someone fully happy, healthy and 'in a good place.' We said as much here and we're fairly good at assessing situations.
>>833 They have finally stopped saying that it's because he'll be busy with The Avengers IW? They have finally noticed that the rest of the actors involved has already announced stuff? Tough times for them.
Shitty Island was a prescient and fitting name.
>>842,844,848 Working or not I don't think it will matter, from what he said in the GQ interview, he clearly thinks there was nothing wrong with TayTo and it'll someone else's fault. Which speaks of little self-awareness and immaturity.
"celebrity sightings: tom hiddleston (fucjfjdj)"
>>852 EO is putting on her scarf and getting her giant purse ready. The media is getting ready to be...exhausted by his extra. Swifties are getting ready to mention that she is in LA too. Luke or Beardy is ready with the tranquilizer darts. The veranda is getting ready to ooooh and awww. Karma and the universe is surely getting ready to take him down yet another peg.
Here's a clip of Kong vs Skull Crawler
CG seems bad to me, Kong looks out of proportion (I'm no expert though) but this clip already tells me the film is stupid. Why do people running away from a monster turn around, was it selfie time?
>>853 Hahaha, let's do a prayer circle that he'll be seen near TS's place and with EO, that should crash the veranda.
Have a great time!
>>853 Enjoy date night!
I shall down a glass (bottle) of Chablis and then watch GNS. I may "live tweet" it on here for anyone who fancies a laugh, whether at me drunk and waspish, or at him, I don't mind!!
>>833 I doubt the GQ cover did anything for him in the US, especially with the sickly-smile picture they used. Vanity Fair might have been better.
>>834, 837, 838 I agree about Hard Boiled's status. Also, does it feel to anyone else as if he must have gotten a multi-picture deal from WB when he signed for and/or stayed with SI, and this is the bone they've thrown him? Why else would WB want to do a pix with a director and actor whose last collaboration flopped as badly as HR did?
PS I and everyone else I know on this side of the pond watched the press conference yesterday. I think it's safe to say that we are now at peace with no longer being associated with the Republic.
>>839 I thought the two podcasters ended up with opposite conclusions about the article. The guy thought TH was totally just doing it for the PR, but the woman seemed genuinely a bit worried about TH (as are we).
About the Bambi reference - one of the first reactions I had to Tayto this summer was "Bambi vs. Godzilla": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s3UogfAGg0 -- and I was NOT head-casting him as Godzilla....
>>843 - 847 A theatre project would still take some time to pull together; I used to be in the business and even a small theatre plans well in advance. So let's hope that's being actively worked on by TH & co.
About the American agents: I think TH is the one who's pushing hard for film. Though I admit that here, theatre can be seen more as a temporary prestige project for film actors. There's a lot of good limited-series TV happening, though, with A-list casts, so that could be a good fit for him.
Tom posts an insta of the plane trip for the press junket - complete with pissed off looking man at right hand side who thinks there shouldn't be any toddlers in first class.
Right. In position and ready to go. BBC starting late...!
Tiny, Ricky, Ruth and TH on the sofa at the same time....carnage possibilities are rife!
Shade from the producers "they're in my ear saying tell him to shut up" (says GN)
He is actually playing it quite straight....
Apparently Tiny Tempeh has a stuffed giraffe at home ("it died of the flu"). There is competition for most cringeworthy story at least.
Actually a funny anecdote about Coriolanus!
Repeats the Redmayne elephant story. He seems strangely subdued actually.
No mention of the tv show he did with Ruth Wilson? I can't remember the name...
That was it. I am amazed. Unless I missed something through boredom the pee story was cut out. He really was not extra. He looked quite the reverse - subdued and nervous. He didn't interrupt at all and when there was general chat he spoke pretty quietly. It's a bit sad - is there no mid point between dancing bear and being totally down? Well, I suppose it is not surprising after the last 8 months that he has lost that unselfconscious joie de vivre.
>>871 They did - Suburban Shootout - but no long stories. It was just a bit of intro really.
BTW I saw those twitter pics of him at the airport and it reminded me of something. A friend who used to work at Heathrow told me that there is a super first class lounge for VVIPS like Posh and Becks. It is a separate check in in a private room with its own security lane. It also has its own lounge and when the plane is called they are taken on last and not the through the gate either. They come in through that door down the stairs near the tunnel entrance that is never open. When they get off they have a special immigration lane as well and their luggage is fetched for them. Basically you get it by paying even more on top of your first class ticket.
>>872 I'm happy it wasn't a cringefest and he wasn't the butt of jokes. It's not fun to watch.
A lot of posts here today, and it'll take forever to reply to each so I'll just say this because it's on my mind:
>>872 He really must've made a mess of the pee story for it to be cut. It had traction in the press. Sounds like everyone is treading on eggshells around him and cleaning up his piddle puddles.
>>874 I recall everybody on this board agreed TayTo stunted through the LA airport. I think the fanfair of their arrival in Oz was an obvious conclusion from fanfairing their departure in LA but I wouldn't go so far as to say it was avoidable. I doubt Brisbane airport has a VVIP escape hatch.
The link has several short vids from his #kongasktom twitter live chat a couple of hourse ago. Also rather subdued; he only seemed to warm up to the questions about what he's reading and what 3 things he'd take to a lonely island. On twitter at
Just saw a SI trailer for the 1st time on US tv - at the half hour point during "Shark Tank." Interesting placement; wonder what audience they were targeting. It was a short trailer. TH in it mostly for a "who or what ... tracking" and one big facial reaction to something unseen. Meh.
>>878 I've seen the SI trailer during many different (mainly) evening programs. Action-Dramas mostly, like Agents of SHIELD, 24:Legacy, Taboo. 18-35 or 18-50?
So first things first, here's the full episode of TGN
>>872 Thanks for the commentary, I tend to agree with Anonon, if they cut a story that has already appeared in the press they probably didn't want to give cause for more critics.
>>876 Maybe Brisbane doesn't have a VVIPS, but when they left for LA again there was no fanfare, so there was a way of not turning it into a show.
If you go here you can find all the short videos of his kong q&a (I don't really care enough to watch)
Hey Anonon, you're not the only person who noticed that they fixed his hair: http://quoting-shakespeare-to-ducks.tumblr.com/post/157385439446/quoting-shakespeare-to-ducks-lolawashere-tom
>>883>>877 I feel that Tom thinks he looks better with shorter hair, and doesn't want to go with the old Gene Wilder curls (which I found darling, and quite lovely.) However, Tom keeps his hair way too short on the sides, which emphasizes how the sides of his hair are thinning out, and, his running regime keeps him very lean and narrow in the face which matures him a bit. I don't appreciate when men are vain. And I love that Tom re-wears his clothes all of the time. But if Tom is esp sensitive about his hair and his forehead scar from Coriolanus, Tom could just grow his hair out a bit, see a dermatologist and wear sunblock. Tom's got a few more tall and dashing parts left. Not quite time for the remake of Goodbye Mr. Chips : ) And eating some more cake can't hurt.
>>883 I've had access to a free bar tonight so I'm beyond tipsy but my job is hair on film (well one of my jobs). Either they fixed it with a hairpiece (most likely) or as that still you linked to exemplifies, they photoshopped the shit out of his hairline for the publicity stills. It also looks like they sprayed his baby hairline darker (hello a product shamefully called "Good Looking Hair Spray". There are other sprays on the market, and that one is mostly used for spraying dirt effects, but occasionally we actually use it to cover bald spots.
>>886 It seems like a lot of work for nothing, his Loki wig/hairstyle is quite revealing anyway
TH, voicing one trailer for BBC Planet Earth II.
Early review. 3.5 stars: https://letterboxd.com/dvr1138/film/kong-skull-island/
>>883, 888 Hair: That pic looks fiddled with, i.e., they shortened the U-bend his hair takes on top. They did this with some of TNM shots too. In the film pics from Shit Island, the U-bend is more pronounced. Opinion: digital 'hairpiece' for promo pics, not for filming. Ain't no hairpiece going on here, right? https://www.instagram.com/p/BQsQiuDBdzR/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BQr-mtElRWB/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BQrM-6sAYM1/ When his hair isn't styled it always looks fuller from the front because he hasn't glued back the small front pieces so they come forward and hide some of the MPB.
>>891 Yes, 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Best stan comment so far: "Remember it is just one person's opinion!"
>>891 Ricky Gervais is a nasty piece of work and I would keep quiet around him. TH was indeed probably petrified RG would say something cunty about Tayto - but even if Tayto hadn't happened he might still have found a way to say something unpleasant.
Finally the admission - he is taking a long break. We have known this for moneths: http://insanely-smart.tumblr.com/post/157452645963/nepalesruben-just-interviewed-tom-hiddleston-who
He said he's "enjoying" a long break, which doesn't say if he chose to take a break or had one imposed upon him by the market. My guess is, it's a little of both.
The interviewer teased that his upcoming article may answer the question of what TH has coming up next: on twitter at /nepalesruben/status/833430468963885056
>>891, >>893 On the GNS, he seemed truly subdued. He was holding his hands tightly together during his segment, and his face in this still looks a bit forced and wary: http://www.justjared.com/2017/02/17/tom-hiddleston-once-played-eddie-redmaynes-elephant-in-school-play-video/
>>891 Your poor aunt, that was a bad era for hair.
I like the description of this as being his 'bolognese phase'
>>892 I think the stans are coming around to preparing for the worst. That review does not excite me in the least. If I see this film I'll have to do it stoned and covered in whipped cream in the red light district.
Interview with Raw: https://youtu.be/pVTHfsWj964
Again, he seems a bit low.
There are signs of extra TH on the LA press junket. #brookemorre on twitter posted yesterday that when she asked him about his fave hip hop, they ended up doing more dancing than interviewing, but she's since edited that post. (Hmmm....)
>>901 I think it's before the interviewer leaves and it seems like he's mimicking something and then showing his/someone's reaction to it (if I were to guess I'd say the rotating finger is for a helicopter)
I don't think he is actually subdued, as Anon pointed out TGN was heavily edited. I think he is doing what he generally does: he starts with a low key approach but after a while under the spotlight, with more and more people complimenting him and flattering him and paying attention to him, he starts the bear circus act. Because in the GQ interview he out on the mask of broken-hearted puppy, he can't really be joyful.
>>900,901 It's hard to tell. He may be truly low (the reasons abound!) or maybe he's been told (or figured it out himself) that his puppyish enthusiasm can sometimes get him: into trouble, bad press, eyerolls, etc., and he's toned it down. He also may just have jet lag.
>>894,895,897 Yes, that it was a break was obvious to the ones here. Coach and others were talking about his lack of new projects in early 2016, around the ISTL and HR promo tours. Only the crazy veranda dwellers and stans wouldn't admit that he didn't have anything lined up. They've tricked themselves into thinking he's A-list, that he's turning down scripts right and left, that directors and producers are begging him to be in their movies - when that's just not the reality of it.
>>903 The film release in China is for March 24, so I guess the premiere will be a couple of days earlier (the release date for theUS is March10 but LA's premiere in on March 8th). I think there's going to be a promo tour in China and maybe Japan (Japan would be a first for him) because of the connection to Godzilla.
So basically he is going to be promoting this film for a month.
>>904 I think he didn't take anything in the summer because it was a short window and he was training quite hard for Thor 3 (he says he has to be fitter because the costume is heavy and he does some stunts). He finished the ISTL tour in early May and Thor 3 was at that time I think scheduled to start filming in early July (and I think did without him). It would have to be a teeny tiny project to fit that precise gap.
>>906 In agreement. Was thinking he might be taking the break between promo touring to temporarily refocus on behind-the-scenes activity: to continue work on the South Sudan documentary (which we've already seen via photos with co-producers), to co-write/produce "Hard Boiled" with Ben Wheatley, and maybe spend time looking for and auditioning for a theatre project at home (remember talk of Richard III?), or explore another Le Carre adaptation. The tweet said he was in the midst of a long break and that makes sense to mix all of the above in with periodic hanging out with friends and visiting family. This also gives him time for personal self-care in real time rather than while on-set of some movie.
Ouch. HBO comedian John Oliver making fun of fake Hiddleswift at 4:11, on his program "LastWeek Tonight." Comparing Putin's setup of fake beach pap stroll photos while "discovering" an ancient jug on the beach to the fake beach walk photos in Adleburgh. Is Putin the next PR relationship? Ha! Here’s the link - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0utzB6oDan0
>>906 Yes, it seems likely that the summer was dedicated to Tayto well in advance of June. It was his summer project.
>>907 I would be surprised if he's co writing or producing Hard Boiled. He worked on TNM script and earned a producer credit but would BW collaborate with TH like that? His wife Amy Jump (?) tends to be his co/main writer.
>>909 Not sure that anyone would believe if somehow the paps were to "find" Tom on a secret romantic vacation with a woman, that it was the truth, after the summer antics. And JA looked pretty downcast and dispirited while she was catching up with Tom at Ginger and White, so I'd assume she won't be around. I think that Luke calls the paps to G&W when Tom needs a little media love, and Tom re-wears the same outfit and ropes in casual acquaintances or PR assistants to sit with him, to make it more enjoyable while not offering the press too much of interest. Sad. It was such a lovely surprise to listen to Tom speak so eloquently during the War Horse promo years ago, and now we just cross our fingers and toes that he doesn't do anything embarrassing to draw attention to himself in a negative way.
>>912 Suspect Tom's truthiness will be in question for some time, especially when it comes to his love life.
Best CB comment so far about the GNS appearance: "At this point, Tom should have a healthy, metaphorical fear of both sharks AND snakes."
>>908 The howls from the veranda will be deafening. Those meanies. How dare they! Don't they know only tabloid rags and fans paid attention to Tayto? We were meant to forget it by 2017.
Why aren't we forgetting...oh, yeah. He reminded us.
A segment on tonight's Access Hollywood picked up on the "he said she said" in the GQ article and puts it front and center: "He said at least on HIS part, 'of course it was real.' "
But they give him a pass on the T-shirt story.
Tom changed his twitter pic. After god knows how many years. Slightly bizarre choice - not one of the full face GQ pics where he looks super hot, but a press junket photo in which he is wearing a faintly imploring expression.
It was Kentish Town. In the mid 2000s it was really not a nice area (flats there I am sure would still have been beyond most struggling actors, but that's true of London as a whole when you have no job). They are worth more now - but still Kentish Town and Kensington bear no resemblance to one another. Kensington is the preserve of oligarchs and formerly hedge fund managers (probably now priced out).
>>920 Silly me, I confused the two and didn't check if I remembered correctly (or reread my sentence).
Don't usually link to CB stories but this one has the ring of truth:
>>923 I haven't read the article but that shouldn't stop me from commenting!
My comment: In other news, TS and all her relationships are fucked up...big timey.
>>925 I think he thinks he looks cute. The previous one was him looking winsomely out of a window, possibly a rain splattered window. I have to say I wish he would use pics that show him looking smokin' hot, of which there are plenty recent such. But it perhaps gives an insight into how he views himself.
Saw some press pics on tumblr - he is already back home.
>>917 He should have used this pic. Whenever I think of Tayto, this is the expression I see on his face:
>>929 Torrilla has pics of him arriving home. He looks terribly, terribly tired and quite wan. I hope he will have a few days relaxing at home and doing nothing.
>>930 Now, Anon, he's an Anglo-Saxon Brit, he's meant to look wan. That's his job. Thou shalt have no colour in thy complexion in Feb. - it's in the Magna Carta. ;)
Is this quick return a sign that he does have UK media commitments? Full court press for this one like for CP, ISTL and HR?
>>929 Christ on a cracker. I just looked at the hard copy of the GQ article, and now I understand why Tom went cookoo in his delivery the tank top monologue. GQ insisted on printing a photo of Tom in the TS tank top at the very beginning of the article! And, the subtitle of the article was about discovering why things "went on the rocks so Hiddleswiftly". GQ literally opened the article mocking him. Wish he had laughed off the incident, or not taken the cover at all, though. I haven't bought the magazine.
>>931 I don't know. Have you noticed something else? No entourage. And no Olly. I have been saying for a while that I wondered if they had parted ways. I still do wonder. Wouldn't they fly back to Heathrow together? Even if they weren't seen together at press junkets you would expect Olly to be in the background of these pics.
>>918 If he signs on to projects before there's a script, that would explain a lot about ISTL.
In agreement about Kong updates not being memorable. But even if the movie itself is good, will people really remember the cast? Or just the monsters and special effects?
Milan today for a Gucci fashion show. Jeez. Not much rest...
One of the first print interviews from the LA junket is up. Spends a lot of the article talking about the break TH has been on. An interesting line: "I have been reading a lot. There is virtually no anxiety that can’t be cured by an hour or two of good reading."
Not taking my links for some reason: http://entertainment.inquirer.net/216210/tom-hiddleston-takes-break
>>938 I read this! Not shy in the sense that he told Branagh he wanted Thor!!
>>933 Olly's in one of the huge suitcases. He was in LA for less than a week and seems to have worn two outfits. Why then does he have more luggage than I took on my two week honeymoon?
>>932 That is not surprising. Whatever the veranda thinks, that article was snarky. It reads like one of us could've written it...which means it's super snarky. She writes profile pieces for a living. She's not going to admit to painting him as a fibbing try-hard, that would be the end of her career. So she's skirted the edges of snark and empathy and some fans can't tell the difference.
>>937 Your links are working, Heynon. You're linking the 'fancee way' and they are linked to your name (in blue, as opposed to green). But you can also just cut and paste the url into the body of your comment - both work.
>>936 I'm once again left to contemplate his motives. Methinks the actor doth talk up 'his break' too much. It's standard practice to ask an actor 'what's next?' during an interview. Is he trotting out the old 'I'm taking a break' line because he doesn't have anything lined up and can't admit that?
>>936,941 Not one, but two mentions of anxiety in that article. He must've spent his break googling Hiddleswift and found himself trapped in a glass case of emotion.
>>938,939,941 Remember the Sony email leaks.. his brown nosing is legendary to the degree that most of London assumed he threw himself on Branagh's 'casting couch'.
Is he a twat now? Don't twats dress like this? I'm confused.
>>945 Words... fail....
I can't tell if he thinks he's fitting in with the cool kids, or if he's wondering if he's been punked. Way to undo the nice images of him in the striped suit earlier in the day!
Japanese(?) photos, casual wear, nothing to do with Wednesday's Gucci show.
>>945 I assume these were loaned to him by Gucci to prevent him from turning up to the after party dressed like this: http://violetsaffron73.tumblr.com/post/157527058834/hiddlesfashion-friendly-reminder-of-what
>>945, >>948 You know your outfit is questionable when you get a look like the one from the person at the center of this photo: https://static01.nyt.com/images/2017/02/24/fashion/24gucciparty-web-hiddleston/24gucciparty-web-hiddleston-master768.jpg
In the Observer, Tom is unfortunately described at Gucci as being the ex- of you know who. FYI, the pics of the runway show clothes via Tom + Lorenzo are crackers.
>>951 Yeah people don't know what to make of this Gucci. They didn't know what to make of last year's either. I have three Gucci dresses (all bought on deep discount, thank you NM Last Call) and they are classics. They come out every tear and grab me a few compliments. This is not that Gucci. I'm not sure where the Gucci of those dresses went. I'll be interested to see how these come off the runway.
>>949>>950>>952 Not a fan of the sneakers b/c Tom seems to appear more comfortable, and prefer a sleeker and dressier shoe. I think that he wears the Aquatalia grey suede boots all the time because Aquatalia soles are soo comfy, and the boots give him a dressier finish when he wears casual clothing. The athletic shoe stripe on the Gucci shoe is a bit casual and flash. Even the bashed Ariat cowboy boots looked better than a sneaker. Apparently his stylist Ilaria Urbinati picked the fabric for the suit, v. theatrical, and he picked the red tie. Not sure who picked the casual outfit for the after party. I vote for Tom to wear an old-school bad a- Steve McQueen/Thomas Crown Affair brown suede desert boot. Those Tom Ford grey suede short Russell sneakers w/o the stripe that he wore last year in 2015 US GQ are OK. I usually think of extravagant pop stars/rappers/and hip hop artists when I see $900 athletic sneakers, not serious dramatic actors.
Apparently taking a year or so off. I think IW is a reducing possibility: http://www.couriermail.com.au/entertainment/movies/tom-hiddleston-on-making-movies-surviving-hiddleswift-and-why-hes-taking-a-year-off/news-story/4a119026a6bbedfbecac3d607315a75b
>>956 In case anyone wants to read the article and can't get to it (it's supposedly subscription only), the blurb about the year off reads: " ...besides seeing Kong and Ragnarok out into the world, Hiddleston is planning to take much of 2017 off.
“I’m taking a bit of a breather, because I’ve been running quite hard for five or six years and I just need to check in with stuff at home,” he says. "
Anyone seen a sniff of this on twitter?
>>958 After some tumblr and twitter searching, just these:
(first twitter post about it, are a couple more that day) /AtlantaFilming/status/834769172521431040
>>958 Allow a little laugh first at TH's fans fretting over TS presence in London. She dumped him, but they worry she is stalking him! lol
I think TH's fanatics are, as usual, making a lot of assumptions.
Ah, Anon, about Olly, wasn't there a photo of them together at G&W at the end of Nov.?
I really couldn't say if he dropped Olly or not, I suppose that if he won't be with TH during Kong's press tour then you might be right.
>>962 Olly just posted artwork from an Asian King Kong poster just 2 weeks ago, so Olly's probably still affiliated with Luke at Prosper PR. No idea if he's still on Team Tom, specifically.
>>961 If Tom had to lie to protect the ending of Thor 3 and Marvel's privacy, I'm sure that he would. Tom used the word "honestly" and that's usually a code for a fib. Plus, Tom said he's taking "most of 2017 off" in that Australian article. Wiggle room is there for finessing the truth, methinks : )
>>962,963 You're right Couch, they were photographed together last November, but not since, I believe. He wasn't photographed on the recent brief trip to LA or to Milan that I saw.
I know he posted the Kong poster- but he was and is good mates with Bryan (!!) and seemed to invest a lot in the project generally & identify with those who were more involved. So he might have posted the pic because of that.
>>963 I don't doubt he would if asked, but my point is why if people will inevitably find out he is in Scotland? They never confirmed Sif in Thor3 but we all saw the photos from set with Jamie Alexander. The same would happen with TH.
New Kong trailer
Well, I suppose everyone knows from the title that it is about a giant ape - so the way to get people to see it is to show them the spectacle even if that is a bit spoilery (and I guess it doesn't spoil if Kong turns out to be a good guy and if they get of the island or find the treasure or whatever).
A homeless person who somewhat resembles TH: http://godsaveloki.tumblr.com/post/157776820142/oh-dear-me-thomas-what-have-you-done
Homeless persons would very much like to be excluded from this narrative.
Oh my dears, the PANTS!
>>968 Those clothes look unwashed. Like they have been dirty and lying in the hamper for months. Ugh ew I think I'm gonna be sick. Is he depressed? Or is he remodeling his kitchen himself and got plaster stains all over himself? The pants clearly have footprints on them...I forget who it was on here but when the GQ profile came out, they said we are seeing Tom having a breakdown. I think they were right because those clothes look legitimately dirty, like someone call CDC there could be mold or a zombie virus growing on that jacket and pants" dirty.
>>971 It was me. I said he might if he carried on like his.
That lovely Reiss jacket was about £300 and it looks like it has been thrown on a filthy floor and then trodden on. He does look a bit bonkers here. Everyone has a pair of ancient sweat pants that they wear when they sneak out for a "don't let me meet anyone" coffee. I get that. But I do put mine in the washing machine. He looks unsanitary here.
>>967 yes, music and jokes take away the menace you expect from a monster film, the spoilers take away the surprise.
It seems like they wanted to do a film à la Spielberg, tension and jokes. I have a feeling they didn't manage the balance.
>>971,972 Maybe he has attachment issues, because here it's not a matter of being frugal, those sweat pants belong to a garbage bin. The rest to the laundry.
>>972>>971 Tom's fashion homage to a preppy hobo does not make me nervous for his mental health. I think that he's adopted the Elizabeth Olsen method of calling the paps right before he heads into doing press for a film/festival/award show, and in calling them again in the days immediately after he finishes press for a film. She rocks the Whole Foods, farmers market, gym, and au bond pain pap runs in a slightly more casually fashionable way, though. If superstars like Daniel Craig and Jude Law don't get papped all the time, and no one can find Tom Hardy, then there is no way that the press camps outside of Tom's abode for no reason whatsoever. Can't wait for his radio interview on the Breakfast Show with Ed Sheeran!
Well, today's is London's premiere for Kong, he is attending.
Since I don't feel like doing a calendar like I used to, check here the rest of the press tour - he is already confirmed for LA's (duh!), Mexico and Japan's.
>>972 Yeah even the £300 jacket has a footprint on it too and it's crumpled beyond recognition. That was a nice jacket honestly. His clothes being dirty is what I find a little disconcerting, otherwise him wearing clothes until they fall apart is nothing new.
>>977 Indeed! And I wasn't even willing to allow that maybe the washing machine is broken, but today gives us fresh pap photos of him running with....those same sweat pants! Footprint included.
>>977>>979 Hobo chic was a joke, b/c I was scared to say that Tom was channeling a homeless person because homlessness is such an issue with the economy the way it is. No idea why Tom can't dryclean the jacket, or run his clothes through the wash. He should consider it : ) Not sure if Reiss clothes wear that well, b/c even in prior closeup pics you can tell that the fabric of the Reiss jacket is bashed up w/in and inch of his life. If Tom can keep a Gucci suit clean and pressed for a Unicef photo opp, then he's just trying to trick the GP into thinking that he doesn't do pap strolls. New DM article w/o TS pics. Glad that Tom is taking a 'break', it will be nice to not see his face for a bit.
PhotoGate or HomelessGate! Hurrah.
I would be more concerned about the 2am tweeting than the state of these clothes. First I think the camera is tricking our eyes a bit. The jacket, I think is 'flaring' or 'ghosting' the camera light or the natural light, maybe both. So parts that are crinkled, bent, bunched or sunken appear greyish or white. This happens with drone and satellite images all the time - the angled parts of dark items look very light-colored sometimes. Personally, knowing how light can do very strange things to pictures, I wouldn't be surprised to find that there's not any dust on that jacket at all. Ghosting and flaring are crazy like that. I don't see any footprints myself.
Apparently only Ken Watanabe is returning for the Godzilla sequel in 2019, so who knows if Tom will return for the Godzilla v Kong film in 2020. I think that I'm rooting for Tom to do a Shakespearean adaptation on film or TV. Or period piece on HBO, like Cumberbatch did with Parade's End. Easy Emmy nomination.
>>981 and above - given that he wore the same sweats for his run today, Sunday's PR fail may just have been him not bothering to change before going for breakfast, and forgetting that Luke had scheduled a pap stroll. That is one blue-stare-of-death he gave the pap! Or maybe having admitted to being at liberty for most this year, he just doesn't give a damn anymore. (But not caring about things you used to care about can be a sign of depression.)
Also, in these red carpets pix (and some from the LA press junket) he looks even thinner than normal to me.
>>981 How low we have fallen, from purse gate, to the height of TayTo to sweatpants!
>>982 Why did anyone think TH was going to be part of the GodzillavsKong film? Kong's set in the '70s, Godzilla's first film was 2014. Watanabe's character appears in 1999 and 2014 so TH's character was never going to be in that film.
>>981 That makes more sense. Because that Reiss jacket is pretty black and it looks very faded in the pics. I really like that jacket which is why I was appalled that he'd mistreat it. Seriously, it's a gorgeous jacket.
>>983 Very reserved. Yours Truly will still take credit for something...the color blue, suits in general, pants.
>>986 I forgot to add: Luke is probably with Emma Watson on her promo tour. EW trumps TH.
This was not his best red carpet. He looks ok but only ok.
Square boob indeed....
>>981 afraid I think it is just dirt. Seen him in this jacket a lot and I have never seen this effect before. Also, is that a footprint shaped flare?
>>990 Light is strange like that. The dust looks different in different shots which makes me think it's a trick of the light, angle, etc. Actually now that I look again, the white is only really noticeable in the shots post-breakfast - when he's walking back with the coffee and bag. Maybe the cafe didn't have any napkins and he's so A-list now that he used a 300 quid jacket as his napkin? Or his breakfast included powdered donuts. Or he really is a cocaine freak.
If Donald O'Connor had played the Gene Kelly part in Singing in the Rain, it might have looked something like this: on twitter at /TanyaLove4/status/836721172377133056/photo/1
Current state of the hairline: http://68.media.tumblr.com/6f636e2949df724790a50697b1d739e2/tumblr_om3ype1REJ1u5j9sco1_1280.jpg
And I'd love to know what's happening here: http://68.media.tumblr.com/e7155e9a7394328442fe0a6a309475db/tumblr_om3ww0Z1IZ1ugo54no3_1280.jpg -- he ends up with it in the next picture.
He may have something in the works for this year, but of course won't say what it is: http://insanely-smart.tumblr.com/post/157842423283/zhora-salome-insanely-smart-maybe-that
>>994 Who knows what is going on in his noddle. "Finishing up" may refer to the UNICEF documentary, though quite frankly having known people who make documentary films, the post production period of this is longer than anything I have ever known save for things like nature documentaries, which are a whole different ballgame.
>>997 I thought that too, that saying you are taking a year off isn't very conducive to find work now or later.
But I also think that he might not have wanted to contradict himself (again). He has 2 films to promote, one of which is a Marvel film and that means showing up at SDCC and other comic convention, so he was never going to completely disappear from the radar.
