I am a Japanese and living in CA.
I wonder how Americans think about illegal immigrants.
I'm not American, I'm Canadian. However, I can offer a perspective on the issue. In canada, since we have a low birthrate and a policy of "multiculturalism" we are required to have a certain amount of immigrants every years, from certain places, depending on what jobs are in need of filling and where we can find workers for those jobs. For example, we might needs lots of engineers, so we target ethnic groups that have alot of engineers. This is to ensure that all our jobs are filled and no one is mooching off our system.
As such, I have no respect for illegal immigrants who come to any country and mooch off of the legal citizen without paying anything back. However, in Canada we do not have the same problem as the US because we are isolated from all other countries except for the US, so I sympathize greatly with Americans. I think the US would benefit greatly from adopting a "me first" attitude towards immigration like Canada's, albeit without the PC "multiculturalism" BS...as for illegal immigrants, I've got no sympathy for them. If you can't be bothered to come here legally, then we don't want you here.
Multiculturalism is one of the worst concepts in modern society. "Hey, guys! Let's intentionally balkanize our own country and turn into a third-world shithole like India! It'll be great!".
While illegal immigrants in the United States is a problem they have brought a few good things to be coupled with the bad. Here are what I see are the reasons for both.

As long as they are genuinely fleeing from something, I think that they should be able to try and gain asylum here. Contrary to belief we're not all bad, the housing isn't in complete jeopardy, they won't TAKE OUR JERBS, more they'll do the jobs we WON'T do.
I sympathize with illegal immigrants. Why should I waste my only life vegetating in a retarded country, when I can improve my lot by moving to a richer country?
And if the people of that country don't feel like sharing their riches and opportunities, and would much prefer to keep me vegetating in my corner, then screw them. As long as I'm not hurting or robbing anyone, I won't feel a shred of guilt by moving in even if not granted permission ^_^
I don't like the mentality of most immigrants, legal or illegal.
They come to our country and stay in their own little foreign groups continuing to speak their own foreign language and creating their own little foreign communities (see: Chinatown for example).
Isn't the point of moving to another country to get AWAY from where you were? And if you are getting away and want to stay in the same sort of community you were in - too bad. Move to a country that's more similar to your own. Don't come to our country and change it into your old one. That's bullshit. You amalgamate into OUR community and adopt OUR culture.
How is a country supposed to keep it's national identity when it's over-run by foreigners and no longer resembles the country after which it's named?
I just recently arrived back in my homeland of New Zealand, and while passing through the airport, I could have sworn my plane had been diverted to some Asian country! It was fucking ridiculous. The people working in the airport (the very people who ESTABLISH THE FIRST IMPRESSION ON VISITORS) could hardly speak English properly and every fucking sign had Chinese on it!
I have absolutely NO problem with Asians immigrating (yes, it's mainly Asians doing this) to New Zealand, but for fucks sake - learn some english and don't make this country a tiny Asia.
Mexican politicians needs to take better care of their people and actually CLEAN THEIR FUCKING PIPES. They can't/won't do that, so they encourage people to emmigrate to the US and clog up other people's pipes. Mexico dumps economically deprived citizens to a foreign contry, illegal immigrants in the US deprive legal citizens (including legal immigrants) of jobs while being paid far less, and that money goes back to Mexico to help economically deprived families (it's like hooking up your toilets to your neighbor's septic tank WHILE wiring your electricity to said neighbor's meter). And look at the state of the US and look at the state of Mexico. The US has an economic clusterfuck on their hands while Mexico is still an economic clusterfuck.
There are only two solutions: Either the US 1) invades Mexico or 2) builds a bridge over the US connecting Mexico to Canada. srsbsns.

You fail to understand what "illegal" means. It means "unlawful". An Illegal Immigrant is an immigrant who has come into a country while disregarding laws pertaining to immigration. Illegal IS the proper way to describe them. I do not support amnesty as it would blanket the entire population of illegal immigrants, good and bad. I'd rather have them get papers and background checks and get through their process. Background checks are there to keep criminals out.

There are billions of people from third world countries all over the world, that does not mean you can invade countries without going through the legal process.
