Why?
It's because they're always hungry?
Well maybe because if they do that, pokemon will be over.
Sounds like the Soviet economic model to me.

Because if they brought a giant robot they'd capture Pikachu, give Giovanni the Pikachu, and Ash would be so disheartened his journey would end, the screen slowly dim, and the ending credits would role to the theme of "Shine on You Crazy Diamond".
Well, I mean, they're always complaining about being hangri. So, you'd figure they could spare some extra cash for sustenance if they had enough capital to buy a freakin' robot.
Whether they're investing in a nutrition or a giant insulated robot, it appears to be equally ineffective towards their goal: stealin' pokemon. If they fail at doing so with a robot, they've got a heaping pile of scrap. If they fail at doing so after buying foodz, at least they're well-fed. Maybe with that extra brainfood, they could think up some extra pizazz to that dance routine. Honestly guys, that crap is getting a teeny tiny bit tedious.
And, James' hair is bad.
Okay guys, let's PRRESS THE ISSUE.
yes, but its their mission to capture pikachu or w/e so they have to do it regardless.
and buying food for themselves isnt the purpose of the funds they recieve
They receive funds from a dark, menacing corporate figure. Initially they have no idea what they even see in front of them. A few days later they complete training for its operation. I do not know why they have a talking feline for an ally.
if they can buy so much robot why dint they buy 1 mega giant in the 1st place??

PLOT DEVICE
or
they use their food money for hair care products.
A series can have only one person of group of people be successful, else it will be too complicated and will easily confuse people. Everyone else must eventually fail, and that is why TR are not doing anything successful.
Why haven't team rocket been fired yet is the real question.
Because they are the villains, they are to set a bad example; they squander their earnings. ;D
