this is such a stereotypical case of corruption I don't even know if it counts

how stupid do you have to be to be wooed by such trinkets, how does someone like this reach such stately heights in the first place

The thing is he was offered a plea and could have avoided jail ENTIRELY, but didn't take it because he thought it'd hurt his future in politics.
