I feel like judging sites as huge as Reddit and Twitter is a bit unfair honestly, they are so huge and varied in their content and userbase that you can't just generalize the whole platform, other than they skew a bit younger, maybe?

The bigger issue with them is that they homogenize and encourage corporate monopolies on social interaction online

I should've studied sociology or musicology or whatever so I could argue that the east-west cultural mixture that has been very present as of the last two decades in pop music has been largely mediated and influenced by rhythm games, that rhythm games are worth analyzing as cultural artifacts and that online rhythm game enthusiast communities have formed what most people would consider to be a music scene with its own peculiarities and possibly even unique semiotic systems. I would like that thesis to be taken seriously and not just me elevating a teen hobby with pretentious buzzwords I can't fully grasp.

the corporate control is the main problem to me too. i've always thought the quality of twitter/tumblr/youtube/discord is more variable than reddit/facebook/instagram/AOL (which are almost uniformly low quality) but i regard stigmatization/shaming as a reasonable strategy for encouraging people to get off the corporate parts of the internet. it's probably the most effective strategy too, because i think the criticism rings true and most people know those sites are for lusers

gangstalking was unironically a tactic used by secret police of the DDR and it was basically a form of gaslighting used to discredit people precisely because of how schizo anyone trying to talk about it sounds. stasi would break into your home while you were at work or whatever and subtly rearrange furniture, turn on lightswitches that you knew you left on, etc.

Looking at photos of the 1921 Russian famine is oddly extremely unpleasant, I mean like obviously looking at death is gonna be unpleasant and I'm stating the obvious but there's something about famines in particular that gets under my skin even for someone who is desensitized to a lot of this stuff. Maybe its the cannibalism that often accompies it that revolts me, or perhaps its the non-violent, yet pitiable and ghoulish state they leave this world in. Or I could simply be disturbed because I'm not used to these type of images. It gives me the same intense despair of "true love is dead" when unexpected affairs happen, which is way less bad but still.

The more I think about it, this could be simply be human instincts I am feeling, naturally disliking pestilence. Regardless, I am a bit happy that I can feel human empathy over death and disaster after years of 24-hour news and excessive shock content consumption

The new Terasu MC doujin feels more like an art piece on hating your stepdad rather than a NTR doujin

About 2,500 days ago I was sitting at my desk on a cold winter night, drinking a pleasantly astringent gunpowder tea and browsing dqn. Tonight I'm sitting at my desk on a cold winter night, drinking a pleasantly astringent gunpowder tea and browsing dqn. I hope you all are well.

I would like some pleasantly astringent gunpowder tea right about now. Instead I am drinking a delightfully earthy Sumatran coffee at 10 p.m.

People want to be excited constantly and have instant access to a kind of hollow excitement immediately, so are more unimaginative than ever. 0-effort escapism has lead to a death in creative escapism.
