I get motion sickness probably after 3-4 hours of playing this game.
I really enjoy it - but I can't stand the feeling of my eyes popping out of my skull and my intestines being pulled from my mouth through my esophagus.
It really sucks.
Do I just keep playing TF2 until my body gets used to it? I've read up on the motion sickness thing and it seems to me like 'sea legs' in comparison.

OP, do you play as Scout a lot? After trying for the longest time I gave up on it because it's too fast for me ._.
Every three or four matches I get up and get a drink of water or piss or smoke a cigarette or do a bong load or something. Taking short frequent breaks totally quells that motion sickness feeling.
I know a lot of people who can't play scout because it's simply too fast to them. If you still want to play TF2, even though it makes you sick, try sticking to the slower classes, like Heavy or Soldier, and don't sit as close to your monitor.
Frequent breaks are also a good idea.
I play TF2 frequently, no sickness though. If you want a class that rarely moves, try playing engineer. All you'll do for the most part is hide behind your sentry and just keep repairing it until it dies or your team wins. Just learn how to build efficiently and good placement, it's not as easy as you might think.
Another thing, if you're using a CRT monitor, set the refresh to 85Hz+. If your CRT doesn't support that, get a good LCD. <85Hz on a CRT gives me terrible headaches.
TF2 is addicting for me, and since I don't feel motion sick right away I have a bad tendency to never take breaks. I stayed up all night playing TF2 once and ended up getting extremely sick. I didn't fully recover for a couple weeks.
I was way into tf2 a few years back before they implemented the class upgrade feature. Something about putting new players at an even more distinct disadvantage doesn't seem right to me

Eh, most of the upgrades are pretty balanced and situational now. Heavy's probably the worst in that regard, I can't think of any occasion I've wanted to unequip the sandvich or KGB.
More than can be said for games like BF:BC2, where IIRC level 1 medics can't even equip a medkit.
Really, the only team fps game I ever feel compelled to play anymore is CSS.
A bunch of my work friends convinced me to buy MW2, and to be honest I don't really like it. Not that needing to unlock weapons and attachments is such a big deal, but the perk system is so stupid.

I used to get motion sickness from old FPS games in the early 1990s that were not "true" 3D, but rather 2.5D which really messes with your head.

Yeah, 4chan has some very nice tf2 servers, while casual/skial/blackwonder are fine for a few hours but gets boring very quickly. Unfortunately, the fun servers are only open on weekends which blows.

tf2 was good when it was tf2k.
Think I prefer Team Fortress Classic. I have been playing some Due Process lately which I hope picks up in popularity (but probably appeals more to the R6/CoD crowd than TF2)

Open Fortress is far better than TF2 in my opinion. Really, I just like the free-for-all gamemode and going for frags.

I really wanna like this game, but god damn is it cruel for us with mediocre internet and PC specs. Hitscan weapons are basically unusable because of the lag interp being ass. Can't tell you the amount of times the shortstop missed every pellet even when the reticle was dead centre on the target at pretty close range.
