So do those of you who've played both think that the first one or the second one was better?

Did anyone else feel that the spears that instantly rip your heart out, while frustrating at first, eventually came to have a certain sadomasochistic charm to them?

I actually did try it with both. Unloaded a good volley of scrolls on them, too. I don't doubt that this happened to you, but I think it may be a freak glitch rather than a repeatable bug.

Were you using DOSBox? Sometimes the games weird up more in that than if you ran them on an old machine, it seems like.

For anyone who digs up this ancient thread and wonders, freeze scrolls don't work but in Witchaven II the enchanted two-handed sword can in fact freeze the witch because they didn't check for that. So that's almost certainly what Duke's remembering.
