Hey, I'm confused. Danganrompa is a game? What is a Dangarompa?
I really like the first one.
I don't dislike the second one but it felt more like an interlude episode rather than a true sequel.
I still haven't played the third one.
>And are there any other games like it?
Too Kyo Games's future projects might interest you: https://tookyogames.jp/english/

I get what you mean, but I personally think the trials are a step up and Nagito is just awesome.
>Too Kyo Games
Been following them for a while, very excited for their games.
>the trials are a step up and Nagito is just awesome
I agree.
The only thing I ''disliked'' about Nagito was his misleading voice; him being voice by Ogata Megumi really made me thing Nagito was a certain other character in disguise.

Well Nagito was meant to be a more extreme version of that character, so it makes sense they'd do that.
I also think the characters were overall more likable than the characters in the first game, but that might just be me.
>Well Nagito was meant to be a more extreme version of that character, so it makes sense they'd do that.
I can't say I agree with this, another similar sounding voice actor would've worked better in my opinion (but there's only one Ogata Megumi out there, I know.
Also, Makoto speaking to Nagito in D3 was just bizarre.
>I also think the characters were overall more likable than the characters in the first game, but that might just be me.
I've heard many people say the same but I'm on team D1 for pretty much everything, characters included.

There's also how his name is a re-arranged "I'm name name" in Japanese. They wanted you to get confused about them.
For me DR1 is has better atmosphere, SDR2 has the most colorful cast and NDRV3 has the best twists and story (and scrum debate theme). I'd say the third game is my favorite just because, and this is kind of a spoiler for the ending, I felt a tickle in my ass for a straight week because of its ending, not even joking.

I disagree about NDRV3 having the best story. It felt a bit too long and the twists didn't really work for me most of the time (the first trial being an exception though, in all honesty one of the best in the series) and the epilogue felt a bit "off".
I'd say it has the best gameplay in the series but the story needs a bit of work.
Anyone still keeping up with the games? They announced a new spinoff: https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/danganronpa-s-ultimate-summer-camp-switch/
It feels like Spike Chunsoft is scrambling to keep Danganronpa alive as a franchise after Kodaka ragequit with NDRV3.

Yeah, heard about the spin-off. I'm pretty excited.
I think they'll figure something out, even without him.
Well, DR:S ended up being unsatisfying and Spike Chunsoft isn't doing much with the franchise outside of merchandising and collaborations right now either. In other news: The entire team who worked on Danganronpa are working on a new mystery game called Enigma Archives: Raincode. From the trailer it looks pretty good and has the potential to be a good spiritual successor for Danganronpa in my opinion, I'm just hoping it delivers. What do you all think?
I quite liked the original trilogy and Ultra Despair Girls (the spinoff) - but felt both were largely tarnished by the DR3 anime (which tells an original story designed to link a few elements together). However I am one of seemingly a minority who really enjoyed the conclusion of V3.
I was pretty excited for Too Kyo and Kodaka's new game, Tribe Nine (lots of DR vibes) but it turned out to be some smartphone game so eh.
Also wanted to share some fan content I really enjoyed from 5 years ago when the games were at the height of their popularity: Touhou Danganronpa.
Basically a massive fanmade story closely resembling DR1 but starring the mainline cast of the Touhou Project series of games, likely a favourite of anyone who frequents textboards in any case. This story some clever things, in particular it executes one trick that would later appear in V3 (which had not released at the original time of production).
Though I think the original video series has been stalled since 2017, this was apparently because the creator decided to make it into an actual game instead (but I'm not sure if there's been any news surrounding its progress - seems they are steadily working away).
There's a very good english translation that goes slightly past the first trial into chapter 2.

what's the deal with all the fanmade danganronpa games? I mean it's almost as many as the sonic fangames.
>>16
Like Sonic, it's popular with a young demographic that feels minimal shame putting out shitty fangames, and since the originals are 95% visual novels with different casts they can even pretend they're being true to them by making low effort VNs with all their OCs
FNAF is another one of those million fangame things. Way back in the day it was DBZ and final fantasy and the games were usually made in RPG maker '95.

They're there to piss you off. Specifically you.
daganrompa is soooooo gay
20get
this should help with anti deletion on 4 Chan
V3 fucking sucks
the rest are good, honestly I think a lot of people just hate danganronpa because it's hip to hate the series
