in the 2000s my internet was too slow for youtube videos to buffer in realtime so I missed the let's play / reviewer boom. I don't really watch any youtubers and it just seems like a thing that people do to waste time mostly.
however, I enjoy watching speedrun streams so I can see why it's fun. i just somehow avoided the fad myself. perhaps it's time 2GET acquainted with the medium
I try to avoid watching speedruns before watching letsplays or playing the game, they sometimes skip 70% of what makes the game good. You lose the wow factor as well, it's less impressive and surprising when somebody makes a shortcut through 30 minutes of playtime. But depends on a speedrun.
I don't know what kind of streams you watched, but letsplays are less of a waste of time compared to that. Good letsplayers edit out the boring parts, streamers never do.

Pretty sure raocow watched either this series, or something like this, because he bragged about "introducing VIP to the west" once, because he made a video saying that playing VIP blind(without prior knowledge of the game, and/or translation) is a bad idea, and just his editing style is similar.

Music style is very Rozen Maiden. That aired on tv in 2004, and this game is from 2007, makes sense that it is directly inspired by it.
