I want to find a fun MMORPG to play when I want a timesink. I haven't played any in a long, long, long time so I don't know what is popular anymore. I am playing a bit of ESO right now which is fun, but it is mind numbingly easy so I'm losing interest.
What should I try? I guess it can be an old one as well. Or maybe I should just find another genre to play...
Well, feel free to suggest me any titles.
...blue archive? I don't know, I don't play online trash. Playing online only games = encouraging people to make games to kill them a few years later. There are so many free single player games out there, go play one of those or make your own. I recommend Black Souls, https://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ251629.html
Bob Ross complains about people killing games a whole lot in recent years.
Satisfactory is a fun timesink, not a MMORPG though
A few years ago I might have said GW2 (just running around the world and doing quests), no idea what it's like now though. If the current F2P experience is comparable to what I had, it might be worth trying.
I actually installed that on my phone a few days ago and forgot, but thanks for the reminder! I wanted to check it out (mostly for the cute girls).
Oh right, I wanted to check that out. I've played Factorio a lot and love it, so what is basically 3D Factorio seems even better. I hope my computer can run it though. I built a new one recently that is fairly mid range, but I haven't yet upgraded the GPU so it's still bottlenecked by an old 750 Ti. Might be okay, though...I imagine it's more of a CPU heavy game, right?
It's great. I actually pop in every now and then to check things out. It's still very popular with a lot of people and a lot of new content, so it's pretty good. If I don't find a new MMO to get into, maybe I'll just go back to that one again. I bought the Path of Fire expansion and never really got to play much of it before I stopped gaming, so that would be nice to check out. I know they released another one last year as well, titled End of Dragons. Not sure what that's like though.
>I played Factorio a lot
You can try Mindustry then
I played a decent amount of PSO2 over the past 10 years - probably about 1 year of consistent play if you added it all up. I keep returning to it because it's easy to convince people to play, though I haven't tried the latest update (NGS)
I'm still playing FFXIV. I have 0 interaction with the community though, and I like keeping it that way, because holy shit 90% of that is utter cancer.
Turning communities into shit is so easy, that some people do it for fun.
Just play on vanilla wow private servers.
I have been playing RuneScape almost everyday for over 20 years.

mindustry is actually legendary, even moreso if its modded

what is the purpose of an MMORPG if you do not interact with a community?

They're RPGs with usually somewhat nice production values and tens if not hundreds of hours of content. Even if you'd prefer to play a single player game with those qualities, there are very few in the same ballpark. Mostly just the Elder Scrolls games.
