I'm a girl too, and I agree that there is a general lack of good guys, but I guess it depends on whether you're limiting yourself to otaku guys or not. I find otaku guys naturally end up as "just friends" pretty often, so I gravitate towards casual geeks (my bf is a gamer/anime geek). My advice: move to another area!

Yeah know what you mean by that. That is why I hide what a huge nerd I am to a certain point. I hate the feeling that a guy likes my anime collection or Japanese knowledge more then he actually likes me. Guys just don't recognize female posts. I posted cheezy stuff in the DQN section, etc, and no one noticed I was a girl. Serious posts as well of course and no one noticed.
There is no big difference between guys and girls posting wise, girls don't always talk about clothes and makeup and such.. and if we did you wouldn't want us here anyway!!
Also I guess the anonymity here takes the thrill out of acting 'ladylike' or 'manly', so people tend to post in a more 'neutral' way. <-- Possibly a good thing?
That and posting with girly type and cutesy smileys will get you flamed and have what you say ignored.
Though in my case I type totally different on anonymous boards mainly because if I didn't, it would become really obvious which posts were me to any of my friends who visited the site.
The neutrality is definately a good thing though, that is part of the "equality" this kind of site brings about. Gender's not adressed unless it's relevant to the conversation.

What is really irritating is guys who act all bossy towards women. I had a guy at work once, who started working way after me, and on his first day he tried to boss me around. I had already known and tested every technique just like the other guys at work, I KNEW my shit, but for some reason my knowledge (and no-one else's!) was to be called into question by this punk.
It was only later that I realized it was probably because I was a woman and he was male. No-one else likes him now, so at least there is some justice.
