it's amazing that there hasn't been a true asian star since bruce lee, the guy definitely was a legend. he must have been told countless times that he couldn't do some of the things he did, by whites and his own kind. yet, he married a hot blonde woman, he had hollywood by the balls without ever sacrifices his principles, and had every man wanting to be him and every woman wanting to fuck him.
world famous asian actors like chow yun fat, jackie chan, and jet li have had success but they never did what bruce lee did, make being asian cool and sexy.
Takeshi Kaneshiro, IMO, is a cool sexy cat and i think he'd do great in Hollywood if given the right roles. fuck, even armani made him the face of their company, the first for an asian man.

As for Asians in Hollywood, there isn't really a place for them outside of stereotypes. Only legit Asian actor I can think of who has been given big roles and performed well in them is Ken Watanabe (I'm thinking of The Last Samurai and Letters from Iwojima, primarily - he was unintelligible in inception).
You simply aren't going to see a young Asian actor playing a significant role in a big movie; audiences would rather see a white/black/hispanic guy. By and large, Asians are not perceived as cool by mainstream audiences, period, and probably won't be for another generation or two.
