Are .info domains really that bad? (8)

I'm going to be seting up a personal site soon, and I was going to buy a domain, and I noticed just how damn cheap .info domains are! Though I know that sites with .info domains are the sites that have all the viruses and trojans, but would it really be so bad? What makes other domains so exspensive? A .cm domain goes for $90 bucks a year! I'm poor and a cheap-ass .info domain sounds great to me unless it means something really bad will come of using it.

Just because it's uncommon. I guess people would be more wary of a .info site, even though .com, .net and .org sites can be shady too.

Is your site just for whatever? If so, you could just get a free Wordpress blog.

It's a personal site where I put things I make. I'd need actual hosting.

You can get a .me domain free for a year if you are a student via the github education pack

you have to be affiliated with a school to get that, so not all students qualify.

It doesn't seem they checked too scrupulously, apparently you were able to get a domain by saying you were a part of Cocks University and using a cock.li email account. They've fixed it now, but the people who signed up for the domains still have them.
