I just finished Serial Experiments Lain. My head hurts now.
What else can I watch that is mindfucky like Lain?
urmmm...
Paranoia Agent, maybe?
Texhnolyze, it's from the same key staff that did Lain.
And yeah, Paranoia Agent works too I guess.
Petite Cossette. So much so that it's not very good.
And it's not anime but watch Event Horizon anyway
Perfect Blue was pretty messed up too. Not a series, true, but it has a freaky twist at the end.
Perfect Blue would be my recommendation. I had to watch that movie 3 times to understand what was going on.
Also is Texhnolyze worth watching? I've had mixed reports...
I have mixed feelings about Texhnolyze myself even. It's weird. I think I liked it, but I'm not sure if I loved it.

I had a non-Anime friend who rented DVD Volume 3 and started watching from there. That's beyond Mindfucked.
Boogiepop Phantom or Higurashi.
Watch Space Runaway Ideon. The Ultimate MindFuck!!!
"Mind Game"
I lol'd, fapped, and got confused watching Perfect Blue.
anything that matches that is win.
Monster was kind of mindfuckish at times. I would start with this.
Texhnolyze had really good animation and a lot of unique character designs in a cyberpunk world but yeah I'm like >>7. The story is alright but meh, idk my bff jill doesnt like it either.
Actually, I had forgotten all about it, but there's another movie that came out earlier this year that I haven't seen yet, but looks like it carries the same mindfuck-a-thon that is Perfect Blue. It's called Paprika, and it looks like it's from the same studio too.
AKira
Ghost in the Shell
Forgot the best one!
ERGO PROXY!!!!!!

Yeah I know. We were sitting behind you in the cinema. eeeeeuuuuu!
They're not mindfuck in the same way. They're mindfuck as in "Woah I could never imagine this happening." SE:L and PB are mindfuck in the sense that "I fear for my sanity. I have no clue what's going on."
Watch CUBE, but it is not an anime though^^
Was I the only person who thought Serial Lain sucked balls? I don't mind it when anime endings are left open, but that was utterly ridiculous. I kept watching each episode thinking, this is definitely going to clear up in the next episode. Utter utter crap. I had to read the plot synopsis on wikipedia to understand what happened, and I still didnt fully understand it.
Part of the problem is that some of the storyline was told in other media, e.g. in the game.
I lost all respect for Lain after reading an interview with the producers that went like this-
Q: What was the purpose of the aliens in Episode 9?
A: We like aliens.
That is an ingenious answer!
Q: What is the purpose of our life?
A: We live ----> we are just here, so we have no real purpose!
End of Evangelion had its dose of mindfuckness. The rape scene from Kanashinmi no Belladonna was quite disturbing the first time I watched it.
But, you know, if you want something completely fucked up go watch "Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show". I am quite used to violence and gore in anime. That thing made me stop watching after the puppy part.
Kite was awesome, though totally NSFW (contain explicit scenes of violence, sex, and other not cool stuff). Also, Higurashi.
Oh, and the series with the kid with paranormal powers, but I forgot the name. "Sci-Fi Harry" I think, but it might be another name.
And I still don't get Paranoia Agent.

Wow. I just watched that.
Uh.
I want to order the manga now.
theres a rape scene? when I watched when I was roughly 11 i didn't see it ^-^; could be though from Adult Swim censorship
some of these listed off though are half philosophy mindfucks
monster is a good one but its long
higurashi no naku koro ni
that screwed up my brain for the rest of my summer vacation
This isn't a mindfuck, but it is more like just fuck, lol
its an anime movie, a prequel to a game, called Dead Space: Downfall. I love that movie so much and the game is amazing as well.
why not try School Days? its has a interesting storyline, but when the last few episodes comes up it starts to fuck up. the protagonist starts to piss me off and the ending left me hate such genres. i really hate such anime where ppl go get killed or die for such stupid circumstances.
I can't believe Elfen Lied hasn't been mentioned.
Nobody mentioned kimi ga nozomu eien? That would emo anyone out after like 4 episodes.. Higurashi and school days as well.
I like Cat Soup and Mindgame.
The former is on DVD, but you'll have to buy foreign or find a fansub of the other.
Higurashi no naku koro ni (When Cicadas Cry)
= watched it long ago and still, it bothers my mental state.
All those blood and gore, going ceaselessly from episode to episode, I feel like "I" would commit a crime at home myself!
The heck was that about?~
Stuck in that world continuously living to kill and die repeatedly...
Angel's Egg
>>31 I was just thinking that...
and gunslinger girls is kinda wtf-ish. ergo proxy got kinda "i dunno if i like it but it's kinda cool and whats with all the philosphy and all.."
in my humble opinion, all anime is kinda wtf at the end
Higurashi no naku koro ni is probably the best mind fuck anime.
Tortov Roddle
I think that you like 妄想代理人(Delusion deputy)
Petit Cossette [seconded]
Kemonozume and Kaiba are as beautiful as they are 'mind-fucking'.
Everyone should watch them.
Angel's Egg [seconded]
Umineko no Naku Koro Ni maybe? I think fans right now are still mind-fucked hahaha
"VN vs. Anime"
Trolling of DEEN
Talk about Mindfuck! hahaha xD
Boogiepop Phantom [seconded]
man i can't believe no one brought up gantz. that totally fucked my mind.
plus one for monster. especially episode 44, but i'm not spoiling. holeee sheeyit.
Shingetsutan Tsukihime
ep44......yeah thats where i stopped lmao
when i think of mindfucking, i think something that makes NO SENSE whatsoever until the very end, where at first u have no idea wat just happened and nothing makes sense at all until u realize u missed something, and your mouth drops open and you can't even think anymore. THAT'S mindfucking.
Well, pretty much anything produced by Gainax.
Tatami Galaxy, Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Mind Game, Paranoia Agent, Perfect Blue.
Try those.

Lain is very over-rated in the plot department. I loved the idea and the art form, but the execution was atrociously poor compared to what could have been. Adding a thousand strings and cutting them all short without any kind of build-up or connection is a very poor approach towards plotting a series.
I watched Angels Egg recently, loved it.
Have to be in a weird mood to get into it though
Tamala 2010: A Punk Cat in Space
It's not really a "mindfuck" but it's definitely strange.
