Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - 01
Story: "The story is set in a world embroiled by war between Humans and Demons. The Humans' greatest hero invades the Demon Queen's castle determined to vanquish her. However, instead of fighting back, the Queen proposes an alliance with the Hero. She explains how a sudden end to the war can bring further chaos to the world as the Humans once united to stand against their common enemies would eventually begin fighting among themselves, with similar issues already occurring at the Demon Realm. Convinced by her words, the Hero joins forces with the Queen and together they execute a plan to bring prosperity and a lasting peace to both Humans and Demons alike."
Genre: Cultural warfare.
Comments: Ah, it's quite different from the manga, I was expecting something darker, not something lovey-dovey like in a shojo manga. Hopefully it'll get better, but so far I'm a little bit disappointed.
Cuticle Detective Inaba - 01
"The story revolves around Hiroshi Inaba, a private detective, and part-wolf-part-human being who was created artificially. Hiroshi runs his own detective agency and solves cases with the help of his cross-dressing secretary Yuuta, and Kei, a "relatively normal" teenager. The plot centres on Hiroshi and the gang trying to arrest his arch-nemesis Don Valentino, a mastermind goat with a taste for money (literally)."
Comedy capers.
Endless, non-stop, continuous punch lines. Not bad, but after 10 minutes of these I was tired and looking for when it would end.
Is this based on a 4-panel manga? Ah no, a "normal" manga.
Ok, it looks like there will be no highlights, no conclusion, no meaning... like in ya/o/i. Probably written by a fujoshi gal.
For the fans.
OreShura - 01
"A young boy called Eita enters high school aiming for the National University School of Medicine. Because of his parents' divorce and his goal, he shuns anything to do with romance or love. One day Masuzu, the school beauty with the silver hair, who's just returned to the country, enters his life in a most unexpected way. Chiwa, his childhood friend since elementary school, will not let this go without a fight."
Blackmail by chuuni.
Most of the episode was laid painfully slow and overexposed...
Then suddenly near the end, the plot kicked in and it became interesting!
I need to see another episode to see how it goes.
Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman - 01
"The stage is the close of the Edo period, an age when, not unlike our own time, both natural and man-made disasters left chaos in their wake. Manjiro makes a living helping the people of the troubled capital city, but behind the scenes, he also works in secret to take back precious belongings stolen from the people by unjust political powers and conspiratorial menaces. The people call him "Get-backer Roman.""
Past-life Lupin III in Edo.
Rockets... in the Edo period? Kamen Rider high-tech uniforms... in traditional Japan?
I guess in the next episode they will fly around Jupiter and go to Planet X to free Godzilla.
Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited - 01
"An original spin-off series centering around Kyousuke Hyoubu."
Super-ESPers blowing things up.
It looks like they still haven't solved the old ESPer/not-ESPer problem.
I'm guessing the two guys will be the main characters, and that the rest will be fodder to show how cool they are?
I doubt that will be constructive.
Senran Kagura - 01
Based on "a side scrolling action game for the 3DS. The player will assume the control of 5 different female ninja characters. The more they are damaged by enemies, the more their clothes are torn off."
Pseudo-ninja schoolgirls.
First 2 minutes were decent, but after that... directing became choppy. Voice acting was... needing more work.
"Pocket dimensions that transcend the space-time continuum, used for battles between ninjas"? Apparently, the screenwriter left and ran for the hills too!
For the fans.
Amnesia - 01
"On the morning of August 1, the heroine wakes up and discovers she has absolutely no memories of the past. A boy appears before her, and introduces himself as a "spirit" named Orion. The heroine struggles to regain her memories under the guidance of Orion. She then gets a phone call, but she does not recognize the name on her mobile phone screen. She meets her apparent "boyfriend," despite not knowing his face..."
Based on an otome game for the PSP.
Harem anime for girls.
The girl-who-has-no-name is a vegetable. She doesn't ask questions when she don't understand something, doesn't press her spirit for useful info, accepts blindly the spirit's twisted explanation why she shouldn't go see a doctor while
she has every indicator she has been brain-washed/mind-washed, nothing.
For the fans.
Love Live! School Idol Project - 01
"Otonokizaka High School stands on the border of three cities: Akihabara -- a pop culture mecca that's evolving by the minute; Kanda -- a conservative, cultured city where history and tradition reign supreme; and Jinbo -- a quiet area reserved for a more mature, sophisticated population. Amidst this culture clash, the school now faces closure due to the enrollment of fewer and fewer students. With the school planning to close within three years, nine female students come together with one thing in mind -- form a pop idol group to revive the school's popularity and keep it from shutting down. "In order to protect our beloved school, there's only one thing we can do... become pop stars!""
Singing schoolgirls to save the day.
Escapism elegy.
The main character herself says her studies are lacking.
If students are not enrolling here but are enrolling elsewhere, it means they are major problems with this school. The adults should slam in the basics, straighten up the teachers and get them to educate their students properly.
Oh well. For the fans.
Tamako Market - 01
"Tamako Kitashirakawa is the eldest daughter of a family which runs a mochi shop in her town's bustling Tama-ya shopping district. One day, Tamako encounters a strange talking bird named Dela Mochimazzi who takes up residence in her home. The series follows the everyday life of Tamako, her friends, family and neighbors, and this peculiar bird."
Family comedy.
This had a nice good old Ditzney magic touch flavor at the beginning, I was almost expecting them to start singing in the mochi factory. But at the very end, it turned scifi/Alien-ish.
So I'm guessing it's probably going to be very variously varied like in a variety show.
Hakkenden - Eight Dogs of the East - 01
"Five years ago, almost every villager of Ootsuka died due to a tragic plague. But mysteriously enough, three survivors: a girl and two boys, emerged. Now living in a church, the three live in isolation, hidden from those who may seek to find them. Shino, one of the survivors, has control over the power of Murasame, the blade of life. But when the imperial church seeks to take the Murasame for themselves, their peaceful life becomes a thing of the past..."
Demons and monsters.
Mostly only guys in the OP. There was a girl, but she is soon taken out of the scene, and we are left with the slinky priest and a young boy at the end. And a Backbeard-lookalike to watch over them.
Can I assume this is only very loosely related to the original 106-volume heroic novel written in the 19th century?
For the fans.
Kotoura-san - 01
"Kotoura Haruka is a 15-year-old girl who can read people's minds. She has been suffering from troubles caused by her mind-reading ability, and her parents got divorced as a result. She moves to a new high school but tries to keep away from her classmates. Manabe Yoshihisa, one of her classmates, accepts and appreciates her ability and she begins to interact with her friends with his help."
School romance.
Ah, finally an thrilling drama! Eh wait, half-way it turns into a romantic comedy?
Aww, the premise was interesting. Hopefully, they will explore it again.
Sasami-san@Ganbaranai_-_01
"The story follows a hikikomori (shut-in) named Sasami Tsukuyomi who is unmotivated about even changing clothes or eating. Her brother Kamiomi takes care of her, even though she despises his slave-like nature. Sasami spends her days viewing the outside world via a "Brother Surveillance Tool" on her computer. In the outside world, the three beautiful Yagami sisters and Sasami's brother are in the middle of relationships worthy of a romantic comedy."
Slice of surreal.
Hm... I don't anybody else on those streets or in shops beside those five people. The brother doesn't seem to do anything worthwhile in the school and is saying he is bored. Sasami feels dizzy when she tries to go out, like if there is a shield. The choco monster appears when she is bothered with chocolate.
My guess is that Sasami is someone who has been put into a computer simulation, which is controlled by three security guards masquerading as sisters. If so, was it by Sasami's free choice? Or is she unaware of the trap she is in?
Vividred Operation - 01
"The story is set in a futuristic and peaceful world made possible thanks to the invention of the Manifestation Engine, which solved an energy crisis five years prior. On the island of Ima Oshima, Akane Isshiki lives a peaceful life with her family. When the world is threatened by an alien force known as the Alone, Akane takes up a special battle suit created by her grandfather known as the Vivid System to face against the threat."
Magical girls.
She is so poor she has to deliver newspapers... on an antigrav bike?
They are so poor they cannot pay for eggs full-price... and have a giant parabolic antenna in the garden?
The world has unlimited energy... and use fuelled jets to fly?
The governor has a spatial computer... and answer with an old phone?
They have a Negima weasel... and he is not smoking?
Bzzt.
Oh well, I'll just look at the pretty graphics.
Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo - 01
"Izayoi Sakamaki, Asuka Kudou, and You Kasugabe have tremendous psychic powers and are bored with the regular world. An envelope arrives for each person, and when each opens their envelope, they are stunned to see the scenery around them change to a world they had never encountered before. They've been summoned by the Black Rabbit to help the community "No Name" to overthrow the Devil King."
Adventures in the Looking Glass' world.
Looking good.
But they are all game cheaters, even the rabbit.
I wonder what's the catch...
Maybe the rabbit wants to take or copy their abilities when they are at a certain level for a specific purpose?
But which?
I love you Sling.
♡♡♡
GJ-bu - 01
"Shinomiya Kyo-ya is forced to become a new member of the GJ-bu (lit. GJ Club), an unidentified club that dwells in a room of the former building of a certain school. There he meets four girls: Mao, Megumi, Shion and Kirara. Time flies with these unique girls around."
Happy-happy club antics.
Lemme try a haiku:
>While in this club, they
>Drink tea, read manga; all these
>Moments will be lost.
Majestic Prince - 01
"The story is centered around genetically engineered teens called "Princes", who are trained to pilot giant robots to defend humans from hostile aliens. The protagonist is one such Prince named Izuru who is assigned to Team Rabbit, a group of underdogs also known as the "Disappointing Five""...
Gundam clone.
This introductory first episode was pretty good.
Pew pew! Blast the rules, who care there's no air to propagate sounds in spaaace!
Devil Survivor 2 The Animation - 01
Anime adaptation of the game Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 for the Nintendo DS.
"With Japan in a desperate situation, 13 "devil survivors" cut deals with devils to obtain abilities that let them fight against unknown invaders. With only 7 days left until a world catastrophe, they must make crucial decisions to survive."
How to save the world using a cell phone.
Using devils to fight invaders? Yeah sure, what could possibly go wrong with that...
Red Data Girl - 01
"The story revolves around Izumiko Suzuhara, a 15-year old girl who has been raised at Tamakura Shrine, part of the Kumano Shrines World Heritage Site. She destroys any electrical device that she comes into contact with. Despite being shy, she wants to try living in the city. Her guardian Yukimasa Sagara recommends that she enroll at Hojo High School in Tokyo, accompanied by his son and Izumiko's childhood friend Miyuki Sagara."
Little Red Riding Hood.
Looks like shojo: the girl is an useless wimp, the guy is a handsome asshole. And they are more guys in the intro, so it's probably a reverse harem too.
How come she can go in a car or a heli or use headphones if she supposedly destroys any electrical device she touches? And if she is so incredibly dangerous, how come no one took care of educating her on the basics? Shojo logic?
My Teenage RomCom SNAFU - 01
"This romantic comedy revolves around an antisocial high school student named Hikigaya Hachiman with a distorted view on life and no friends or girlfriend. A teacher gets Hachiman to join the volunteer service club, which happens to have the school's prettiest girl, Yukinoshita Yukino."
Volunteer service club activities.
Very very nice!
Eh, wait, at the second part the episode, it feels like they skipped a ton of stuff? Was it to cram in the other member's introduction no matter what? Eeeeeeeeeh...? But I wanted to see the two main characters developing, I feel flouted. Plus, the new member's story was not as good. SNAFU?
Hataraku Maou-sama! - 01
"In another dimension the Devil King Sadao is only one step away from conquering the world when he is beaten by Hero Emilia and forced to drift to the other world: modern-day Tokyo. As "conquering the world" are the only skills the Devil King possesses - and are obviously unnecessary in his new situation - he must work as a freeter to pay for his living expenses."
Fast food fighters.
Very nice.
The best part is the ED when the whole episode is played in reverse.
But why was Emilia there? Next episode please!
Instant reviews:
Date A Live 01: Seducing a pretty comet. Doting-sim.
Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge 01: Cursed hair and conspiracies. Alternating terror and cute.
Photo Kano 01: Club of perverted photographers. Slice Of Dregs.
Shingeki no Kyojin 01: I doubt those giant bodies would be viable. Guro horror.
Zettai Bouei Leviathan 01: Fantasy fairy land. Kids' show.
Suisei no Gargantia - 01
(Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet)
"While fighting an intense inter-galactic war, a mecha pilot was accidentally warped into a space-time neither he nor the computer of his mecha could recognize. After waking up from a long-time hibernation, he found himself trapped on a planet, with human residents talking in an unknown form of language, using inferior technologies, and -- most shocking to him -- naturally breathable air."
Sci-fi.
Looking great.
Ok, "warped into a space-time", it could mean he went back not in space but in time, I guess?
There could be hijinks, like he was/will be ultimately responsible for a future/past Earth disappearance, or something.
Or could it be that he went into a parallel worldline where Earth didn't get destroyed?
Next episode please!
Arata Kangatari - 01
"Every 30 years, a new princess is chosen from the Hime family to serve the Hayagami. The time has come again, but over these past years, records state not a single female has been born, save for one, the 15 year old Arata. The only problem is, Arata is actually a male! Forced to disguise himself and take the place of the princess candidate until a formal one can be found, he attends the festival..."
Worlds switcheroo.
Characterizations feel weird. The males act like women. The women are not very perceptive.
Not sure I'm going to manage to follow this one very long.
Mushibugyo - 01
"The protagonist, Tsukishima Jinbei, strives to be a warrior who wins every battle until the day he dies. Jinbei has left his homeland in the Tsugara Domain to join the Mushibugyo in the great city of Edo. His job in the Mushibugyo is to exterminate giant bugs that run rampant in the city. Jinbei fights with the Mushibugyo, an office of brave men who risk their lives to protect the peace in Edo and the smiles of the people!"
Spiders fighters.
Spiders were censored using very dark screens, it was hard to figure out what was happening, in addition to the quick scenes changes. The busty girl had weird hair, I was expecting her to transform into a spider too.
The dad cut his leg as a honorable act to protect his son? Not sure I follow the logic here, other than a jab at dimwits.
For the fans.
Valvrave the Liberator - 01
"True Calendar (T.C.) 71 - A new age where 70% of the human population lives in space thanks to the development of gDyson Sphereh, a city in space.
The world is divided into two main powers: The Dorssia Military Pact Federation, a power which grew out of a military alliance, and the Atlantic Rim United States (ARUS), which grew in power as it expanded its trade agreements. The minor nation of JIOR has declared neutrality between these two forces and maintains its peace through economic prosperity.
Within the JIORfs Sphere, Haruto Tokishima lived an ordinary life as a high school student in the division known as gModule 77h\until the Dorssian military begins their sudden invasion!
But the whole world will be shaken when Haruto meets the mysterious humanoid weapon, Valvrave!"
Yet Another Gundam Variant.
I wonder what would have happened if he answered 'no' to the EULA question, "Do you resign as a human being?"
Would it have said: "Then the anime can't continue. Bad End!"? (Weak writing?)
And the Dyson sphere, where did they find the raw material to build the parts? Are they cannibalizing the planets? But we saw Earth untouched. (Poor writing?)
How are they getting 1G on their space cities? Special gravity? But Gundam clones are not known to harness gravity. (Unsound writing?)
Shouldn't the air escape if the dome is broken? (Unwritten writing?)
Oh well, let's just look at the pretty textings and the Niconico/YouTube-styled comments.
Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko - 01
"Youto Yokodera is a perverted schoolboy who is unable to express his true feelings freely. After hearing about the wish-granting Stony Cat, he decides to try and make an offering to lose his facade, only to meet Tsukiko who wishes instead to be more discreet with her feelings..."
Romcom.
And the moral of the story is: Be careful of what you wish, it may come true! Got it.
What? They are more episodes after this one?
Erm... Not sure I want to stick around for more, it was more painful to watch than funny. Or maybe it was not my kind of "humor".
For the fans.
I love these, keep up the good work!
Dog & Scissors - 01
"The absurd mystery comedy centers around Kazuhito Harumi, a high school boy who is obsessed with reading books. One day, he is killed in the middle of a robbery -- and resurrected as a dachshund dog. Unable to read in his new form, the hapless Kazuhito now belongs to Kirihime Natsuno, a sadistic novelist who uses scissors on Kazuhito to abuse him."
Slice of dog's life.
What, he goes to the afterlife without seeing his dead body on the floor from above first? Isn't that a missing sequence?
I suspect foul play, like if some magical girl rigged up the natural sequence of events just for the fun of it.
But who was it? The weird maid? The blonde? The redhead?
Servant x Service - 01
"The story revolves around the daily lives of employees in a government office building in an unnamed city in Hokkaido."
Government theater.
Is this seinen's humor... or shonen's?
I can't believe the new staff is not drilled to handle various basic situations, like stopping an over-talkative customer, or defusing an angry customer, and such. But, even the old-timers seem clueless. And the only thing the big boss finds wrong... is that the new staff was running? It's not funny anymore, it's more like a sad state of affairs.
Ok, I need to see another episode to see where this goes.
Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku - 01
(=Chronicles of the Going Home Club)
"When a friend asks Natsuki what high school club she's going to join, she cheerfully responds "the go-home club" (meaning, she's not going to join any of them). However, she soon realizes that this club actually exists at her high school, and she's just expressed interest in joining it! Before she knows it, she ends up as one of the two new members of "the go-home club," which is a small group of eccentric school girls. One of the girls likes fighting bears, while another is ridiculously rich. But what exactly constitutes the activities of "the go-home club"?"
The 4-boke and 1-tsukkomi club.
Non-stop boke/tsukkomi jokes. And the tsukkomi-girl was SCREAMING all her replies. I'm surprised I made it to the end of the episode! Well ok, I cheated, I put the volume very, very low.
For the fans.
Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 01
"Yura Yamato has just transferred to the prestigious Stella Women's Academy and discovers that it is difficult to find friends in her first day at school. After a chance meeting with a fellow student named Rento Kirishima, she is recruited to the school's airsoft club named C3-Bu (derived from command, control, and communications, which is also the club's motto). The story revolves around Yura's experiences as a member of the C3-Bu and her interactions with her fellow members."
Wargames club.
First part was uneven but watchable. Second part put me to sleep.
For the fans.
Danganronpa The Animation - 01
"The series takes place in Kibo-gamine Academy where a psychotic bear named Monokuma has imprisoned its students, the only way for them to escape being to kill each other."
Murder puzzle.
Dangan = bullet? Ballistics? Shot? Gun? Murder?
Ronpa = riddle? Battle? Puzzle?
Let's see...
Events flowed nicely from one to the other, good directing.
There was no murder to solve in this first episode, it just introduced the characters.
Everybody is super campy, likely in order to help the upcoming murder's solving.
But I'm not sure how this is going to work in anime's form, I doubt I'm going to be presented with all the clues and enough time to think about it by myself.
Quick reviews:
Gen'ei o Kakeru Taiyou 01: magical girls fighting evil with tarot cards. For young girls.
Love Lab 01: heterosexual girl has to act as a guy for another girl. Yuri plot.
Free 01: genderswapped world. Softcore yaoi.
Quickies:
Fantasista Doll 01: Magical dolls. For young maidens.
Kiniro Mosaic 01: UK exchange student. Educamational.
Makai Ouji 01: A penniless English Lord drinking tea with his male harem from Hell. Fabulous.
Blood Lad - 01
"Blood Lad follows Staz, a vampire that is obsessed with the human world, and Fuyumi, a human girl that was killed and turned into a ghost after wandering into the demon world. Staz promises to help Fuyumi regain her humanity by bringing her back to life, as it means that he would be able to visit the human world."
Lively ghost meets bored vampire.
Slice of undead.
Looks interesting.
Uchouten Kazoku - 01
(=The Eccentric Family)
"The comedy drama of Uchouten Kazoku is set in Kyoto, where tanuki (shape-shifting raccoon-dogs), tengu (long-nosed goblins of Japanese folklore), and humans intermingle. The story follows the Shimogamo family of tanuki who live in the Tadasu no Mori forest of Shimogamo Shrine."
Comedy drama.
I like.
And, by the same guy who wrote The Tatami Galaxy? Sign me in!
WataMote 01
"Having been well-versed in the world of otome games, fifteen-year-old Tomoko Kuroki believes herself to be popular. However, upon entering high school, she discovers this is far from the truth as she winds up being an unsociable loner and is forced to take a long hard look at herself for the first time in years. The story follows Tomoko as she attempts to improve her social status as she progresses through high school."
Crazy otome girl.
Those eyes... Is she drugged on otome games? Lack of sleep due to gaming addiction?
The brother has the same eyes. But the brother sounds sane, and is doing sports.
Maybe her insanity is affecting his body?
I pity the brother.
Get out of there fast, man. Or get her to stop taking that dope, and get enough sleep.
Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi - 01
"God abandoned the world on Sunday. As a result, nobody in the world can die or reproduce. A little girl, Ai, is the gravekeeper for a village. She has prepared 47 graves for the eventual deaths of every member of the village. Later, a boy who identifies himself as "Hampnie Hambart, the 'Man-eating Toy'," which is coincidentally the name that Ai's mother left behind as the name of her father, arrives in the village and slaughters everybody. Just what is going on?"
Spaghetti western.
Looks like "the Good, the Bad and the Ugly."
I guess the little girl is the Good, the shooter guy is the Bad... but who's Ugly?
Gin no Saji - 01
(=Silver Spoon)
"Yugo Hachiken dreams of life separated from his family, so he takes the initiative by enrolling in an agriculture school. He thinks, with his talent in studying, no problems will arise no matter what kind of school he attends. He is proven wrong very quickly. Raised as a city boy, he is forced to uncover the inconvenient truth about agricultural life. Enjoy the story of Hachiken, as he tries to keep up with his new friends, farmers' heirs, who are already accustomed to the harsh world of farming. With no clear goals or understanding of farming life, how will Hachiken survive this new, cruel reality?"
Agricultural school life.
Wake up at 5AM every day? Run 20km daily? 15min for a shower? Welcome to the school of life, tenderfoot! If you survive, you'll be a better man.
Gatchaman Crowds - 01
"Simple minded high school girl meets strange tall black alien vampire on roof, from whom she receives an even stranger mechanical note book which turns her into Gatchaman. A Gatchaman is a sort of human sized mecha that fights aliens space invaders in the shape of rubix cubes."
Power Rangers variant.
So, it's aliens versus aliens? And the Earthlings are helping the groping-vampire-aliens in their battle against the cubist-aliens, because... because... erm... because you get a free notebook when you join, which was a part of you in the first place? Whee.
Hyperdimension Neptunia The Animation - 01
"This is Gamindustri. Beings called the Goddesses rule the countries of this unreal world. The four Goddesses govern four states: Planeptune, Lastation, Lowee and Leanbox. For many long years, these countries fight each other for Share, the source of the Goddesses' power. However, fearful that the conflict would pointlessly erode their countries' strength, the Goddesses signed a Friendship Treaty forbidding them from taking the Share by force."
Game adaptation.
Very sexy art, but the ultra-lame dialogs killed my boner.
I guess this is just a promo flier, to attract but not to satisfy.
For the fans of the game.
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya - 01
"Illyaviel von Einzbern is an ordinary middle school student who becomes a magical girl when the magical Kaleidostick Ruby deems her a more suitable master than the sorceress, Rin Tosaka. Rin, who had been tasked by the wizard Zelretch to collect the seven Class Cards containing the spirits of Heroic Spirits from legend, finds that she is unable to change Ruby's mind and must supervise Illya in completing the task of collecting the Class Cards."
Magical girl.
The Main Character here is the magical stick. He(or is it a She?) is hilarious!
Kyoukai no Kanata - 01
(=Beyond the Boundary)
"Akihito Kanbara is a high school student who has a Youmu lineage and a regenerative ability that exceeds that of a normal human. In an unexpected encounter, Akihito saves a classmate named Mirai Kuriyama, who was about to jump off the school building. Following this encounter is Akihito's discovery of the world of Youmu and Spirit World Warriors."
Slice of unearthly school life.
Kyoto Animation remix:
Animation is great, story seems witty, but I'm not sure this will go somewhere.
Likely, Akihito will end up with weak Mirai, and strong prez-girl will end up discarded after a few shenanigans.
Coppelion - 01
"In 2016, a catastrophe occurs after a nuclear meltdown from the nearby Odaiba nuclear power plant contaminates Tokyo, forcing the government to order its citizens to evacuate. 20 years later, Tokyo has become a ghost town due to the high levels of radiation which the government has banned entry for anyone. When a distress signal is received from Tokyo, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force dispatches 3 teenage girls from the Dispatch 3 Special Force Coppelion. Due to genetic engineering, the Coppelions are immune to radiation while also possessing special skills. Thus the Coppelions journey to the ruined capital to find survivors."
City girls on a recon mission.
Ah, I remember that manga, it was good. But I don't remember how it ended... Oh I see, "19 Volumes (Ongoing)", it was never completed.
Ok, I'm looking forward to see how it goes.
Kill la Kill - 01
"Ryu-ko Matoi is a girl who travels with a single red scissor blade, searching for the wielder of the other blade who killed her father. She arrives at Honnoji Academy, a high school that lives in fear. It is ruled over by the fearsome student council, led by the student council president, Satsuki Kiryuin, who use powerful uniforms known as Goku Uniforms to crush anyone in their path."
School life, post-(or pre-)Gurren Lagann, sort of.
Nice. Amazing animation, good humor and sexy babes. Pass!
Now... What is this white stuff on the floor around the city and outside? Just to give a dusty vibe, or does it have a meaning?
Next: no cellphones or similar in the class, I only saw a kendama or a gun in the desks. But the discipline committee had a laptop. And hitech exosuit uniforms. So, technology. Who is building/maintaining these? Is there a big divide between the ones who have access to technology and the others?
Should I stop caring about the details and just enjoy the show?
Golden Time - 01
"Tada Banri, a newly admitted student at a private law school in Tokyo, found himself completely lost after the opening ceremony, trying to find his way to the freshman orientation. Just then, he ran into another lost freshman from the same school, Yanagisawa Mitsuo, and they hit it off at once. As they were hurrying to their intended goal, with hardly any time to spare, there appeared in front of them a beautiful girl holding a bouquet of roses. The girl whacked Mitsuo across the face with the bouquet and handed the flowers over to him."
Romance, lost memories & supernatural.
No lost memories nor supernatural in this first episode, I need to see more eps before I get the big picture.
But so far it looks like the weakling is the guy, and the strong character is the girl.
Nagi no Asu Kara - 01 (=Calm from Tomorrow)
"A story between the Sea and the Earth. Childhood friends Hikari and Manaka, who live in the sea, together with their friends Kaname and Chisaki, are forced to attend school on land after their own undersea school is closed."
Slice of outworldly school life.
Whoa, hostility everywhere, from the land-men, the sea-men, the demigod-man, the childhood friend...
No wonder Manaka was interested in the only guy who is friendly. Well, the grandpa was helpful too, but I doubt he was interested in mating... Ah, but grandpa is the one who fished her in the first place. Way to go, grandpa!
Strike the Blood - 01
"The fourth primogenitor is the strongest vampire who exists only in the world of legends; yet when this masters the 12 kenju, the spread of the catastrophe of the vampires will appear in Japan. In order to spy on and erase this fourth primogenitor, the government owned Lion organization have decided to send an attacking magician sword shaman to complete the task. Yet unknowingly, the one who was selected to spy was actually a trainee sword shaman girl - Himeragi Yukina."
Vampire romance.
Huh. Who story-boarded this? Let's see... Hmm, it seems that none wants to take responsibility. 'Looking at the manga... Yeah, it seems someone used an abbreviated form of the manga script. But it's not flowing too well. :(
For the fans.
Yuushibu 01
"The story revolves around Raul, a boy who did not become a Hero, since the demon lord was already defeated just before his Hero exams. His dreams dashed, Raul spends his days working at a magic shop in the capital. One day, a part-time job seeker appears at the shop with an amazing resume:
Name: Phino.
Previous Occupation: Demon Lord Heir.
Motive: Because my father was defeated.
The work comedy revolves around this former Hero-in-training and the daughter of the demon lord."
Work comedy.
Seems to be a parody of Hataraku_Maou_sama with the main character roles swapped, and probably poking fun of various other Demon/Hero stories.
Not as good, but the anime compensates by dashing out a lot more sexiness around.
Hopefully they will keep on shaking all that plot around until a fulfilling finale.
Log Horizon - 01
"The series follows the strategist Shiroe and the other players of the long-lived MMORPG Elder Tale after they find themselves whisked away into the game world following a game update."
RPG.
(Ah, I never understood that "trapped in a RPG game against one's will" thingie, too unreal. Maybe if they used some kind of advanced 3D projector, maybe someone could be fooled... but for only a short moment.)
Ok, let's see what we have here. A tall guy with glasses who couldn't walk on his feet, so maybe he couldn't walk in real life. Partnered with a very short ninja-like girl, and a punching-bag buddy. And... that's about all for this episode. See you next week.
Outbreak Company - 01
"Having a light novel author father and an eroge illustrator mother, Kanou Shinichi is a thoroughbred otaku. However he does not have any special power except for his broad knowledge, sharp insight, and impeccable instinct about "moe" and its products, from manga, anime, games, light novel and figures. One day he found himself transported to a fantasy world where elves live and dragons fly. And he is given a task -- not to fight monsters or embark on a quest, but to enhance cultural exchange by becoming a moe missionary in this fantasy world."
Hikkikomori fantasy.
Wait... The ring translates magically the foreign words of Shinichi. So why didn't the maid put the ring on first? For national parallel dimension security reasons?
And if it was so important to not flub, why did the security guardian girl didn't show Shinichi pictures/videos of the Empress in advance?
And what was this blast of light? Did Shinichi create some kind of pink purple parallel paradox or something, the otherworld is now caving in at the event horizon, and they will have to emigrate en masse to Prime Earth?
Gingitsune - 01 (=Silver Fox)
"When her mother passed away at a young age, Saeki Makoto was given the power to see Gintaro, one of the gods' agents that have been protecting the small Inari temple since the Edo era. As only one person of the family can see the fox spirit, Gintaro, naturally as the only blood relative, when her mother passed on, Makoto inherited the sole power to talk to and see him. Although they have their differences, Makoto, with the help of Gintaro's power, help the people of their community deal and solve their problems."
Slice of miko life.
It reads like a Shinto promo. Nothing wrong with that, but I doubt this will keep my interest for long.
Makoto can't find a cat by herself and has to depend on someone else to divine where it is for her.
Gintaro can't even solve his own problems, like reconcile with his partner, or getting someone to dust up the shrines for him.
Even the customers are unhappy with the services, because they lack simple knowledge, like basic courtesy.

Meganebu! 01: Glasses freaks. For the fans of males bonding.
Ace of Diamond 01: Baseball. For the fans of sports anime.
Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai! 01: Girls wrestling. Too much screaming, not enough loving.
Walkure Romanze - 01 (=Valkyrie Romance)
"Walkure Romanze's story revolves around Takahiro Mizuno, a student studying at an academy with jousting as its main focus for sport."
Female knights on high horses.
I was surprised the jousters didn't end almost naked after a tournament.
And only four girls attracted to him? Not enough density for his singularity to reach black hole status, it seems. But hopefully we shall observe some good quantum effects during the interactions with those curved spacetimes.
Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova - 01
"One day, a fleet of ships with mysterious superweapons called the "Fleet of Fog" appeared all around the world. Humanity didn't have the technology to fight such a fleet, and they were driven out of the seas.
Seventeen years later, Gunzou Chihaya starts to fight the Fleet with a sentient Fog submarine given to him by his father..."
Naval battles.
If the sentient battleships only follow orders, who are the players ordering the Fleet of Fog to maintain a blockade? And for what purpose? To force isolationism? I can't see something good coming from this in the long term. Which is probably why his father decided to give Gunzou the tools to open the cage.

"Tsuchimikado Harutora was born into a prestigious Onmyoji family, but he can't see "spirit energy". Therefore, he's been enjoying a peaceful daily life with his friends at an Onmyo branch school. One day, his childhood friend Tsuchimikado Natsume, heir to the head family, suddenly appears. Will this cause his destiny to spring into motion?"
Psychic feuds.
Started as a pastoral lovey-dovey story, ended with a hi-tech full war against the MIB (=Magical Investigation Bureau).
Let me see a few more episodes first to see how it coalesces.
NouCome - 01 (=My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with my School Romantic Comedy)
"The story revolves around a high-school boy named Amakusa Kanade with a supernatural ability, known as "Absolute Choice," that forces him to choose one of the two choices that pop into his head like a game -- otherwise it will not disappear. What he chooses becomes reality."
Mental SNAFU.
So, his life is like a game, and the one who programmed the choices is like the Eastern cousin of the Bastard Operator from Hell? Welcome to "Situation Normal, All Fucked Up".
Fastforward reviews:
Samurai Flamenco 01: wannabe hero effeminate male model, and manly cop covering for him covertly. No castanets?
BlazBlue 01: game promo on a budget. Will we get a plot? I dunno, probably not.
Galilei Donna - 01
"Galilei Donna follows the three Ferrari sisters who are descendents of the astronomer, Galileo Galilei. With a mysterious organization hunting them down, the three sisters must work together to fight against the organization."
Airships chase.
It's been a while since the last airship chase, this could be fun.
Are they going to the Moon?
I appreciated this thread.
