I'm studying Japanese, but I have a great deal of difficulty in learning the written language. This is upsetting, since I want to continue my work as a freelance writer once I'm in Japan.

Does anybody know of any particularly well written novels/short stories/novellas/articles etc. in Japanese? Maybe some poetry?
Any help whatsoever is greatly appreciated.

So how many characters do you know? Approximately?
