I hear that the idea of Japan invading Korea is the commoest which has been taught all over the world.
I think I must start my augment from that point.
Near the end of the Goryeo Dynasty, general YiSeong-gye seized power in a coup, in 1392.
The country had been a tributary to China for 500 years, untill the Shimonoseki Peace treaty (1895), in it's article one states "China recognises definitibely the full and complete independence and autonomy of Korea, and , in consequence, the payment of tributr and the performance of ceremonies and formalities by Korea to China, in derogation of such independence and autonomy, shall wholly cease for the fouture."
As you can easily see from this, there was no sovereignty residing in Korea.
Secondly, 一進会 had been the biggest political party in Korea from 1904 to 1910. The party aimed strongly at modernaizing the country, realizing much more advanced technology that foreigneres had posessed. Furthermore, the party was disillusioned by a struggle for supremacy within the Imperial Courts. Having seen Japanese trimpth in Sono-Japanese war, 一進会 confidently supported Japan in Russo-Japanese war.
However, in 1909, a terrorist 安重根 assasinated Japanese prime minister Hirofumi Ito (伊藤博文) which made 一進会 to see that the Imperial Counrt no longer had a chance for reconstruction.
December 4th 1909, in the name of "一進会会長李容九および百万会員"(一進会and the 100 thousand members) 一進会 insisted on the affiliation.
Lastly in this writing, I add that, in June 16th 2005, the last hair of Imperial Court, Lee Eun died in Japan at the age of 76.
He got married with 梨本宮方子, who was a member of the Imperial family of Japan.
Untill I did serious researching, I believed that Japan did Korea wrong without giving it a single chance of doubting.
Please, I ask to all of you, do not believe what's commonly told without checking.
